Still haven't heard Tesri, but "Fjorden" her second album is also very highly recommended (by me). I like it a little better than "Nichts Muss", and it's different enough in feel (autumnal, torch-song-y, warm + more analouge-ish in texture) that you won't feel short-changed owning both.
couple other threads...barbara morgenstern - "die liebe (r. lippok: schneekristall mix)"Barbara Morgenstern, "Nichts Muss"

As noted, various other threads (all much longer than this!) but reviving to note that her new sort-of greatest hits/career overview Fan No.2 is, unsurprisingly, ridiculously great.

I had the pleasure of meeting her in 2006. Very down-to-earth and nice.

Vermona is also a really fantastic album. One of my favorite electronic pop albums.

the three extra songs on this are really something; mountainplace is better than anything on the last couple of records, imo.

new rec! http://www.barbaramorgenstern.de/press/sweet-silence
she is singing 100% in english & so depriving us of the fluctuations into and out of dulcet german tones. but still. i tried to find a thread to post on & in each i was being kinda picky about the last couple of records. they all have their time & place though.
her website is seemingly a good place to dip in & out of her music if anyone hasn't heard her, too.

Schaffel was great but I really wish the Germans could just let it go now.

Yeah it's great, actually the first BM I've paid attention to. Now working my way backwards...

i kinda haven't got far past need to hang around, because i love it so much, as much as anything of hers, but the record sounds nice. the vaguely nichts-muss-y instrumental is nice; i guess i get kinda hung up on the switch in her sound that happened that i don't have the musical vocabulary to express, but to something that's a little sheenier and less textural. but yeah this is a nice rec, i'm still processing.

wow, had no idea there was a new album. thought the last album BM was a bit of a drop in quality, but the clips on the Morr site for this new one sound great.

Need To Hang Around is just lovely isn't it?

i really like the new album but some of the lyrics are pretty bad, especially Nighttime Falls! can anyone who speaks German say if the lyrics on earlier albums were this clumsy?

ha. i don't, btw, but when english language lyrics started appearing on the past couple of records i always thought they were kinda strange. strange is good in a bunch of ways - like the lyric to need to hang around is super-, distinctively, uniquely her & is awesome & not on account of being like finely-wrought or anything. but yeah she's peculiar lyrically. the last trend i noticed was towards kinda climate-change/globalisation lyrics, punched out in key-phrases. i haven't gotten into this record too deep just yet so lyrical analysis tk.
need to hang around is the greatest though, yeah.

My first scan was that this was an Ann Magnuson thread. My second was that it was asking about Rod Morgenstein, Winger/Dixie Dregs drummer.

Sounds great, glad she's been working with Lippok again. Funny how this and the new Ms John Soda album are coming out so close to each other.
