is this bangin', or am i on meth??? anybody else got it?

yuengling participle (rotten03), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

is Glamorest an actual adjective?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 02:11 (twenty years ago)

No, but the album is actually called that....

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 02:17 (twenty years ago)

Alex are you really still shocked by rap albums that subvert spellings/grammer rules, or are you just pretending at this point?

deej.. (deej..), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 03:20 (twenty years ago)

as for the orig. thread question, i held it in my hand for a moment at best buy and remembered i is poor.

deej.. (deej..), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 03:21 (twenty years ago)

it's not that good. diamond princess was much better.

f-a-b-o-l-o-u-s (adamwest), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 04:23 (twenty years ago)

yo be bangin on meth, mah nigga

gangsta andy partridge, Wednesday, 12 October 2005 05:50 (twenty years ago)

"subvert spellings" - you make it sound courageous

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 05:53 (twenty years ago)

on the one hand i really really want to hear this because i loved diamond princess more than life, and trina is my girl. her guest spots post-diamond princess have sans exception been awesome ('step yo game up'!)

on the other hand the single is good-but-not-great, and she replaced teedra moses with kelly rowland, and i still haven't managed to track down the teedra version of that song yet.

how crunk is it?

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 08:59 (twenty years ago)

fuck that shit search out Cool C "The Glamorous Life"

bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 09:08 (twenty years ago)

it's *mad* crunk, son

the track with Lil' Wayne ("Don't Trip" -- is "Here We Go" a single?) is hott, and the whole album is pretty good if not great. i'm in the process of going back and checking her earlier records for comparison's sake, but i think it's one of the more consistent and exciting Southern releases this year

yuengling participle (rotten03), Thursday, 13 October 2005 02:09 (twenty years ago)

yeah 'don't trip' is one of those tracks you think "cool, generic crunk beat, would dance to it" but don't really love at first. and then you find you're slightly addicted to the way lil wayne slurs "give a lil thigh, mama give a lil hip".

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 13 October 2005 08:38 (twenty years ago)

--- I need to hear this.

Re: diamond princess, that diatribe at the end of "BR Right" (from "I'm fuckin niggas in the face, the game is mine" to "catch me when I come off tour, fuck yall, I'm out") is one of the most inspirational things I have ever heard -------

reacher, Thursday, 13 October 2005 18:26 (twenty years ago)

I listened to this at the store today, pretty good, definitely some inspired moments. Don't like the song with ms. destiny's child II very much though. Mannie Fresh dropped some hot shit beatwise, but i wish he would stick to producing at this point. I can't say I like this as much as Diamond Princess, never mind her first rec.

deej.. (deej..), Thursday, 13 October 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
vote for the nxt single

there's a kanye produced track featuring lil mo called 'dropped dead gorgeous' that was in early tracklistings and is also talked bout by trina herself in this month's scratch mag - but it hasnae emerged on the album. since even i can't find it i ws wondering if xhuxk's copy might be a promo (after all everything sounds better when it's a promo right?), and if it's on there, and if it's any good. (i thought it could be a reworking of a same-titled kanye tune off 'i'm good' but it seems somewhat unlikely)

is there a word for the feeling of disappointment you get when, having noticed a hitherto-ignored album thread get bumped up to be one of the few exciting threads on new answers, you then discover that it was spambots responsible? :(

i used to play diamond princess to the student magazine office while we were working on it. the rockist music desk would make complaining noises but i was editor so what i put on stayed on.
