two weeks pass...

The “official” mothers against noise wesbite is MOTHERSAGAINSTNOISE.US.

The strange thing is that the address and phone number in the registration is the same as several record labels including Island Records which btw is the label under which Andrew WK released his last two records. Is it merely a coincidince that Andrew WK is involved with one of the bands in the top ten list of “noise” offenders??

Nice detective work, I just posted to the noise board about this and was theorizing that it just might be for real this time. Guess not.

What's really weird is that there are people who seem to be taking it seriously - witness the demonstration at that Sonic Youth/Hair Police show. That seemed to be for real.

Earlier this year, when the band toured with Sonic Youth for three weeks, they met up with proof that they were doing something right in the form of M.A.N. — Mothers Against Noise — a group of middle-aged mothers picketing outside a California venue.
If that sounds like a throwback group, you’re not far off, to hear Olson tell the story:
“We pulled up to the venue in San Diego and there’s all these women outside with M.A.N signs. And (Sonic Youth’s) Thurston (Moore) was like, ‘That’s not for us, dude. That’s for you.’”
So Olson, of course, went over to talk to them.
“They were just tired of their kids going deaf from listening to really, really loud music,” Olson says. “It was that simple.

“So we talked, and they asked what it was that we did, and in the end, I said, ‘It’s just like Chuck Berry.’” He pauses, smiles, and says, “And really, it is.”

So I'm not sure if this is the same people as before, but a new Twitter user showed up last week, MothersAgainstNoise (@MothersAgainst1). Required following if you are a fan of nutcases.
