Lost (Bulletproof) Wallets: What Is The Tracklisting?

Piggybacking on the implied suggestion here, what does the prerelease Bulletproof Wallets look like? Or, for that matter, the prerelease Pretty Toney Album (there was one if I'm not mistaken)?

I just wanna know if I'm missing out on the greatest lost album of all time or something.

Same here...

As far as pretty toney, you just need the two J Love mixtapes. The first one because its dope, the second because it has the 'lost' pretty toney tracks (like "Beatles.")

As for BP wallets, I don't remember exactly but I think there were just two songs missing - "The Sun" w Slick Rick (awesome) and a song that came as a hidden track after "The Watch" which used a v. familiar sample and was totally badass.

There may have been another song but I don't remember. Also the sequencing on BPWallets made a helluva lot more sense initially.

Went to the Def Jam website, and here's the tracklist they had for BW:

1. The Sun
2. Never Be The Same Again
3. The Forest
4. Theodore
5. Interlude 1
6. Flowers
7. Ghost Showers
8. Maxine
9. Walking Through The Darkness
10. Interlude 2
11. Teddy Skit
12. Jealousy
13. The Juks
14. The Hilton
15. Love Session
16. Strawberry

This is definitely different than the released version of the album, but it is the same tracklisting that is on Amazon as well. Obviously, it involves a lot of re-ordering tracks, but I'm still confused about the following:

1) Interludes 1 & 2. I have an "Intro" and an "Interlude" from the original album release. I assume these are the tracks in question, but which is which?

2) Where does "The Watch" fit in?

3) What about "Untitled (Good Times)"?

4) I have a different version of "Flowers" from the album version that I know is supposed to be substituted, but what about the different version of "The Forest" over at wutangcorp.com (a great place to DL all these rare tracks, btw)? Is that supposed to be substituted as well?

5) Does album cut "Street Chemistry" get cut entirely?

6) Have I left anything out?

I assume some of this might have to be up to personal taste, but I'd love to have someone appear from nowhere and drop an "official" promo/first draft tracklist out of the sky. Deej, any thoughts? (Also, thanks for the T.I. rec... totally diggin' Trap Muzik.)

Sorry "The Watch" is actually a bonus track on "Maxine," I had that backwards. At one point I had the first draft listing but it was lost in various computer transfers. Basically you want a 7-8 minute version of "Maxine" vs. the 3-4 minute one on the 'official release'

I believe "FLowers" did have a diff version originally.

On "Wallets" weren't there also differences within some songs? (e.g. original "Flowers")

Alexander (Alexander Buckiewicz-Smith), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 09:29 (nineteen years ago)

The original "flowers" is still "mardi gras" but a far superior, faster loop of it.

"The watch" has the same Barry White loop as "no ideas original" by Nas and was gonna be the first single until they couldn't afford to clear the sample.

"Good times" rules. There's a part 2 of it with a new verse from Ghost at the end which is amazing.

There's an original version of "the forest" which is the same Alchemist beat but with a chorus of "my wallos..my wallos".

Tracks that got cut from "pretty toney" were : "gorilla hood", "the drummer", "the splash", "paychecks", "my guitar" and that joint with Method Man where they were rhyming about getting up in the morning.

There is no official "bulletproof wallets" tracklist, though.

Throw "the watch", o.g version of "flowers", "the sun" and "good times" on there and then work out yer own order.

Thanks. This is helpful.

"The Watch" and "The Sun" were officially released last year:

A bunch of advances were sent to radio stations with an 'actual tracklist' though werent they?

deej.. (deej..), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 15:57 (nineteen years ago)

Not exactly.

The reviews at the time in The Source and XXL reviews commentated they'd been sent versions that were missing all the RZA produced tracks and interludes and that the retail version would be different.

Epic really fucked up on everything about that cd.

LYRICAL MR PERFECT, Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:18 (nineteen years ago)

There's a 12" you can get on the Archives label (who've also put ep's of rare Nas, Rakim, Lord Finesse, Redman, Grand Puba, AZ/Akinyele etc etc tracks) with perfect quality, dj free versions of "the watch", "the sun", "good times" and the original versions of "flowers" and "the forest". That's a great ep.

There was also rumored to be a version of "never be the same again" with a harder beat but Epic convinced Ghostface to switch it up for a more radio friendly beat but no one has ever heard it.

What does the tracklisting on the back of the released album say? Isn't it different than what's inside?

regular roundups (Dave M), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 20:37 (nineteen years ago)

My copy has the correct (revised) tracklisting on the back.

EngleDinckFanClubPrez, Wednesday, 1 March 2006 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

hmmm...

regular roundups (Dave M), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 21:01 (nineteen years ago)

I'm definitely going to make a version at some point. I'll post the tracklist on here when I do.
