I heard the original track thatthis sample is from last night at Tubesteak Connection last night and I am dying to know what it is. ( Link posted it to a 6 second M4a file of the sample alone that's not YSI mind you...) I'm sure a lot of you out there will be able to ID this one. Heavenly record. Thanks

can't get link to work. homepage.mac fault?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 14 April 2006 21:37 (twenty years ago)

Sorry about that. Try again maybe? I'll use other means if this fails. I just don't want my thread to get deleted because I'm really keen on finding out what this is. Try right clicking (or control clicking if on a Mac) and downloading the file directly or copying and pasting it as a new URL. That should work, it does on my end anyway. Sorry and Thanks again.

Yeah, it's just an opening disco string sweep that, come to think of it, does sound familiar.
Any chance of a longer sample?

Unfortunately all that's all I have because it's extracted from another song that I actually have that samples the track in question. I only heard this record out last night and don't actually have a copy myself. (But that will surely change if someone can identify it.) The disco track I'm trying to ID uses the sweep repetitively and has a wicked bassline to accompany it. That's the best I can do. I wish I could be more specific.

Do you know the name of the sampling track? If so, or if you can find out its name somehow, this site might help you.

I totally know that, but I just went and checked a few records and I can't place it!

I knew I knew that but I didn't...I went to my records and played a stack of Salsoul records, Dr. Love, Ten Percent...and it was on the tip of my tounge, I swear!

i couldn't name the original track but the one you put up the clip from ... "wrath of zeus" by the eternals off crydamoure??

Actually, (and I'm blushing while typing this) the one I have is a remix of DOP's "Take Me", of Guerilla Records fame. I bought their "Don't Techno For an Answer" compilation when I was 10 years old and recently rehashed it for kicks a few months ago. Judging by this, I'm sure it's been used for quite a number of different projects. "Wrath of Zeus" was another I couldn't remember but knew of.

that's a good comp!

"I been victimised, by a devil in disguise"

Such a good song.

I'm almost sure Deepstate 2 sampled that on 'Everybody Get Down', am I right?
