(2) hey im both a juggalo and a maggot im 20 years old and male i have been down with the clown for about 5 years and a maggot since '97 reading this has pissed me off you have no idea wtf you are talking about both bands have very strong messages to their fans and feel a strong connection to them so b4 u rip on us any more have a look at your self and think wtf would i no im just a GWAR fan with my head up my ass. if you knew anything about music you would know that slipknot have been put up there with the gods of metal music and they deserve it.

icp are a rap group that have been around since the begining of rap back before they were insane clown posse they were inner city posse and were producing back in tha day on tape and selling it out of thier cars. they stuck with it because they knew they would reach the top of the underground which they achived with dog beats. then it moved to shaggy and violent j as a duo and they have come to the forefront of "dark rap" brining twisted abk and blaze witht them. so actualy do sum research before you dissmis them as crap!!!

Yeah it's tough but I have to go with (2).

Wow. Thank you for this thread.

I'm leaning 2 but I'm still digesting this all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 May 2006 00:12 (nineteen years ago)

they knew they would reach the top of the underground which they achived with dog beats.

do sum research!

You never rap

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 May 2006 00:17 (nineteen years ago)

juggalos vs maggots

whats a maggot - unless maggot is to dave mathews what parrothead is to jummy buffet - which can't be right

grapple (grapple), Friday, 19 May 2006 00:30 (nineteen years ago)

maggot is a slipknot fan.

combining the powers of a juggalo and a maggot seems like a dangerous thing! you could end up like that wheelchair dude in X-Men 2....flying to close to the sun....

"some of the greatest artists ever are bland" wins me over with its ease, its simplicity, its purity of expression. "I have been down with the clown for 5 years" seemed to have "s.o.t.g.a.e.a.b" on the ropes for a second there, but CcchrissS canny use of ellipsis lulls its opponent, and all readers, into a trance of watery goodness. Honestly, CcchrissS: you had me at "dave is a great guy and does alott of work for charities."

this - have a look at your self and think wtf would i no im just a GWAR fan with my head up my ass - hit a little too close to home i have to admit.

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 19 May 2006 01:45 (nineteen years ago)

as for the two statements in the title i gotta lean dave in that it's one of the truer statements ever uttered on ilm.

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 19 May 2006 01:46 (nineteen years ago)

yeah and was discussed at length on the kate bush aerial thread, which is what i was expecting this thread to refer to...

"begining of rap" is pretty great, as is the GWAR burn. But "greatest arists ever are bland" is straight up rope-a-dope tactics. How can your punches land when he just rolls with it like that? If only he could have kept it up with "very few people, short of Frank Oz, have the range that dave has"

bendy (bendy), Friday, 19 May 2006 03:25 (nineteen years ago)

"some of the greatest artists are bland" wins, hands-down. that ICP shit is indistinguishable from 99% of the stupid shit on the internet, while "some of the greatest" has an integrity and purity of thought which is nothing short of breathtaking.

bernard snow (sixteen sergeants), Friday, 19 May 2006 03:37 (nineteen years ago)

You are a persuasive lot; I'm beginning to appreciate the gemlike aphoristic quality of (1), although the double-whammy of "icp are a rap group" + "that have been around since the beginning of rap" is also breathtaking in its ironic hostility to Reality, History, Science, G-d, Jeff Chang, et seq.

Roque Strew (RoqueStrew), Friday, 19 May 2006 09:06 (nineteen years ago)

Statment 1 is cool and all, but I think that what follows it is even better:

for example.. and keep in mind i love the beatles.. but "we all live in a yellow submarineee yellow submarinee.. la la la" its very boring as well..

I wish someone had said this to me in real life, so I could hug them.

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Friday, 19 May 2006 09:11 (nineteen years ago)

statement one wins hands down! "some of the greatest arists ever are bland" is just undeniably true and wonderful.

permanent revolution (cis), Friday, 19 May 2006 09:40 (nineteen years ago)

But "greatest arists ever are bland" is straight up rope-a-dope tactics. How can your punches land when he just rolls with it like that?

OTM! it's like, with one line, CcchrissS takes away all your weapons and forces you to think with mind-of-no-mind. I think that post actually made me re-think my tastes. First I had to laugh really hard about it for weeks, but it just kept sticking in my craw.

When Jimi emerged, no one was trying to play like him, look like him, or capture his sound.
