If you ever saw this film or heard its soundtrack, please tell me what you thought of it (then, now, whatever). I quite loved it but haven't seen it for at least 10 years.

The "Great Use of Music in a Soundtrack" thread got me remembering it, especially the Nick Cave track.

I, of course, meant DOGS IN SPACE.

I saw this film on cable in the late 80's (maybe on USA Network's "Nightflight") and LOVED IT. Didn't know what it was called until now. INXS guy was great in this; I kept thinking about this performance when he died a few years ago. There was one guy in the squat crazy about Eno, and I had never heard of him at that point. Aussie make good punk movies, see Russel Crowe play a skin in "Romper Stomper"

I saw this film late at night one time many years ago, and thought it was great. A few years later I saw the soundtrack on sale at a car boot sale but it was pretty pricey. Eno and Gang of Four on the soundtrack I remember.

Wonderful movie, long overdue for a real DVD release (it came out crappily in England some years ago). There was talk of a deluxe reissue w/full screen and extras etc. a year or so ago, but nothing seems to have happened.

Soundtrack holds up well. As I understand it, there are two versions, one of which has snippets of the film's dialog in between tracks.

Hutchence was very good in this movie - as was the entire cast. The only DVD copy I could find online was TWO HUNDRED FIFTY NINE dollars. At least I have the soundtrack. But I'd sure like a copy of the film. They really should rerelease it.

One of the best rock films ever made. Been looking out for a quality dvd release of it for some time.

OTM. I saw a press screening around 1987, not sure if it ever came out here though? maybe limited "art-house" release. went out and got the album though it's packed away with my vinyl haven't heard it in awhile. I remember thinking the movie caught the swirling druggy milleu around an up-and-coming punk band quite well and Michael Hutchence was convinincing and charismatic in the lead role whatever you may thing about INXS. Damn now I'd like to hear the album again.

the version of the soundtrack that's missing the dialogue also has instrumentals of the primitive calculators and thrush and the cunts tracks, and censors the name of the latter on the sleeve. sons of bitches!!

also for those who don't know, it is based on melbourne's very real 'little bands' scene of the late '70s. you can't get the soundtrack because the label carked it not that long after it came out - it was a bit of a luckless movie, it got stuck with an R rating which killed it commercially. any CDs of the soundtrack (and they are around) are probably boots.
