Didn't know this was (coming) out - it was waiting unannounced in the racks for me to pick it up! Which I did. All (well, most) those greats remixes collected. Haven't heard the mix-cd yet.

i was listening to his remix of "want 2 need 2" a couple days ago, and it's kinda incredible.

It is. And so is the mix-cd. First few tracks, mostly new/alternate stuff, make up a moody yet luscious intro and then his own remix of "Moan" comes in and whoahawesomeshivers..

(would've liked the "du what u du" remix to be included on cd2 but you can't have it all i guess)

seeing him here in vancouver on wednesday playing as a three piece.....really looking forward to it.

Not sure where this should go but the guy just released a pretty interesting 'all back to mine' styled comp: "HARBOUR BOAT TRIPS - COPENHAGEN"

^^it's a terrific comp and a great idea for a series like this - really happy he put rennie foster's 'devil's water' on, that tune needs a whole lot more love - it's like a techno version of pj harvey's white chalk aesthetic

although by the end of the comp, as night sets in, the yacht cruises the seedier industrial section of the harbour for a while, where it unexpectedly discovers a warehouse party blasting "Tainted Love"

I'm pretty psyched for In­to The Great Wide Yon­der, which is due out June 7th. Anders has let his fandom of the dream westerns of Mazzy Star and Chris Isaak (he did a dubby white-label remix of Wicked Game) out of the stable. Marie Fisker, who did vocal duties on a 2008 Sods cover remixed by AT, returns her with her best Hope Sandoval tribute on the first single:

On first listen to this it sounds terrific, more downtempo than I expected but carries a real weight, especially on the vocal tracks. Not convinced by the surf guitar track, not that it's a dud just it seems out of keeping with the rest of the album.

I keep noticing that "Even Though You're With Another Girl" uses that drum sound from Iggy Pop's Nightclubbing (and Nine Inch Nails' Closer) :-/

I wish he had another bonus disc's worth of tech-house tracks to pair with this...

This is how this year's Massive Attack album should have sounded, it sounded fantastic on first listen. Helps that I didn't come to it expecting house music, though, but Trentemoller is one producer I really don't mind stepping away from the dancefloor.

It's a grower. I thought it was pretty boring and going nowhere for a while but now I'm starting to like it a lot. Can't wait for the remixes. :-)

Sounding good, way more concise than his somewhat sprawling last one. Not bothered by the gloominess, he does it very well. It's arctic pine forests rather than wet grey afternoons.

Can see this growing to be my favourite of the year so far, actually (not that I've acquired that many new releases recently).

actually, now that you have got me all interested, that sycamore feeling track is not a million miles away from the recent stuff by unkle.

I think its bleakness is overstated, it's not laugh-a-minute but I think he's going for elemental rather than doom-laden. What he's really, really good at, on this evidence, is light and shade - tracks like Past The Beginning of the End are like stormy skies where the sun keeps shining through behind the clouds.

I'd say Portishead would be a more apt comparison than Massive Attack, cf Past The Beginning...

Yeah, the snare rolls in that tune are straight out of We Carry On.

I would like to hear this album.

Yeah it's not a million miles from Third actually, Silence and The Rip especially.

Changed my opinion about 'Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go!!!', not only does it work, it feels necessary in the context of the album, a dayglo splash of red amongst the greys and blacks. I hear hints of Orbital's 'The Box' on 'Haxan' and a similarly iconoclastic use of sampling too.

hope this moody non-dance album means he goes back to playing (internationally) live {ie not dex-n-fx} again, the show in 2007 was so so good [and GOTH AS FUCK]

The whole album is phenomenal, just sounds HUGE but so detailed at the same time. Still not sure about the surf guitar one but that's largely just because it breaks the spell of the rest.

Seemed like an epic snooze to me, wish I could summon up the enthusiasm to revisit.

the album sounds lovely but after a few listens it's not something i'm ever desperate to hear or that sticks in the mind too much. pretty nice though. i've probably said this upthread but his harbour boat trips comp from last year is really underrated, and as autumn draws in, i'm sure i'll be revisiting it soon enough.

New album is really good. Yeah it's pretty indie but god I wish more indie records were produced like this. He should definitely produce an entire Low album.
