Ah 2002.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 23:07 (nineteen years ago)

Tripping Daisy. Lock thread.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 23:15 (nineteen years ago)

There are already 11 threads about them, btw.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 23:27 (nineteen years ago)

"I know you sent me back to the future, but, now I'm back - I'm back from the future!"

Domenico Buttez (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 23:28 (nineteen years ago)

(well, 9 of those are about them)
xpost

Yeah, what kind of lamerz are you hanging out with that this is still an issue?

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 23:30 (nineteen years ago)

xcuze the fuck out of me. i havent read every single post YET. I'll quit posting since I'm not so xtra speshal uber leet like you.

slick dickens (slickdickens), Tuesday, 15 August 2006 23:58 (nineteen years ago)

did kitty empire send you?

Fetchboy (Felcher), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 01:13 (nineteen years ago)

you mean kiddie don't you? yes, an empire of children (or young cats) sent me. or maybe it was the lamerz I've been hanging out with.

slick dickens (slickdickens), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 01:19 (nineteen years ago)

this guy is making an even worse start than me!

Louis Jagger (Haberdager), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 01:21 (nineteen years ago)

Auspicious beginnings

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 01:24 (nineteen years ago)

you could learn to love me.

slick dickens (slickdickens), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 01:27 (nineteen years ago)

careful, use a word like 'auspicious' round here and the vocabulary police'll be onto ya in a flash of Newspeak-fuelled discontent...

xpost

yeah, slick, i tried the 'love me' approach and trust me, it didn't work. ya needs to learn how to be an asshole here, unfortunately.

Louis Jagger (Haberdager), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 01:28 (nineteen years ago)

slick,
just try not to start threads that already exist and you'll do fine here. there's a search function at the bottom of the page (try using the google search though, as the internal searches are hard on the already crippled server).

louis,
leave already

Fetchboy (Felcher), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 01:36 (nineteen years ago)

see?

Louis Jagger (Haberdager), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 01:38 (nineteen years ago)

haha. i get it. don't worry. i have thick skin.

advice well taken, fetch. thanks

slick dickens (slickdickens), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 02:11 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's because, for whatever reason, the Flaming Lips caught on big time, and then the Polyphonic Spree rubbed people the same way in some ways so they got semi popular. Maybe Amazon told people they might also like The Polyphonic Spree.

Public Radio (public_radio), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 02:48 (nineteen years ago)

then why doesn't anyone I know own the Steve Burns album?

bernard snow (sixteen sergeants), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 02:54 (nineteen years ago)

because the flaming lips don't make people burst into laughter by singing "i am a mighty little man" completely straightfaced

ss sleepingbag (sleepingbag), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 02:59 (nineteen years ago)

ps it is incredibly difficult for me to refrain from starting a parody thread or nine

bernard snow (sixteen sergeants), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 03:00 (nineteen years ago)

Louis, try obscene non-coherent trolling. That's how I became the ILX Superstar I am today!

Domenico Buttez (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 05:05 (nineteen years ago)

No point sending them back. They are among the best new acts of the past years.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 09:28 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's because, for whatever reason, the Flaming Lips caught on big time, and then the Polyphonic Spree rubbed people the same way in some ways so they got semi popular.

The reason was that, like Flaming Lips, Polyphonic Spree make excellent music - so much better than all the hip-hop and R&B rubbish out there.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 09:30 (nineteen years ago)

Hurray for Geir!

Bidfurd (Bidfurd), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:06 (nineteen years ago)

If I were Jess I'd ban the whole bally lot of you.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:11 (nineteen years ago)

Hurray for Geir!

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:25 (nineteen years ago)

Hurry for gear.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:34 (nineteen years ago)

THREAD SAVED

Domenico Buttez (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 11:41 (nineteen years ago)

they came from heaven

Chris Grasinger (gman59), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 20:58 (nineteen years ago)

Shat from the sky.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

ok, finally .. GEIR?? WTF?????? maybe Geir is a troll.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:02 (nineteen years ago)

Hahahahahaha

Marmot (marmotwolof), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:05 (nineteen years ago)

Geir's actually got some pretty sound opinions, and you can quote me on that.

Scourage (Haberdager), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:06 (nineteen years ago)

Sadly, this is not one of them.

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:07 (nineteen years ago)

(I'm assuming you haven't argued with him about whether or not the sounds African bands/performers make is actually "music". altho no, strictly speaking geir is not a troll)

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:09 (nineteen years ago)

I've not heard any PS, so I can't really comment. Although the concept behind them does seem pretty cringe-worthy.

Scourage (Haberdager), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:09 (nineteen years ago)

This thread could use Mickey and Mike Costello!

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:10 (nineteen years ago)

Geir's actually got some pretty sound opinions, and you can quote me on that.

Maybe Mark Grout could make us a "Big Book of Louis Jagger Quotes" and sell it on Cafepress.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:12 (nineteen years ago)

Just a bit of fun, let's not ban anybody.

Son of Spam (noodle vague), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:14 (nineteen years ago)

I've not heard any PS, so I can't really comment.

oh for christ sake don't get all coy on us now

m coleman (lovebug starski), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:14 (nineteen years ago)

coy != telling the truth. Oh, ok, I've heard like half a song before I got bored, but that really isn't enough to judge a band.

it was half a REALLY long song, though

Scourage (Haberdager), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:15 (nineteen years ago)

Haha I was gonna say, that's like 40 minutes of music!

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:16 (nineteen years ago)

"Hold Me Now" is better than any Flaming Lips single, prob'ly. Maybe much better.

teh Thompson Twins?

Scourage (Haberdager), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:39 (nineteen years ago)

"i have tried the love me approach" - louis j. that's not really true is it?

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:48 (nineteen years ago)

It was for the first couple of days. On my own banning thread I pleaded to the general goodwill of all, only to receive quite a few sarcastic pictures along the lines of 'will you be my fwiend?'. I haven't looked back since. :-D

I only expect to be loved if I am worthy of loving. modo amari exspecto si amandus sum, even.

Scourage (Haberdager), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

Or you can judge for yourself.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:57 (nineteen years ago)

it was more like by being obnoxious/overbeating i will try to establish the scenario of being loved unconditionally by you. not that i know what that's about..

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:58 (nineteen years ago)

"Overbeating" is strangely apropos

Erroneous Botch (joseph cotten), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 22:00 (nineteen years ago)

well, all right, one sarcastic picture.

Look, I've read through that thread again and yes, I do come across as pretty pathetic. But recently I like to think I've struck up a decent rapport with a few posters, calmed down, refined my style and generally got on with it. I've noticed that you've avoid replying to almost everything I've written, Ned, which astonishes me considering the amount of respect I have for your words and opinions.

I'd now like to draw a line under the entire matter.

DID SOMEBODY CALL ME?

I HATE THESE FUCKING GUYS

gear (gear), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 22:11 (nineteen years ago)

Ned, Louis loves you and that's why he is overbeating.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 22:39 (nineteen years ago)

Gear, you wonderful and wise man. Let us slay.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 23:09 (nineteen years ago)

so what about the hardcore that ain't hard anymore
or the shit talkers who ain't shit anymore
or the old fighters that can't fight anymore
or the white kid's who ain't white any more
or the actors that don't act anymore
or the rappers that don't rap anymore
or the hipsters that don't hip anymore
or the limpsters that don't limp anymore

man, The Polyphonic Spree sure suck. They remind me of the time I watched Roman Polanski's film adaptation of Hair. Or like, Jesus Christ Superstar. Or, I dunno, something crappy.

Public Radio (public_radio), Thursday, 17 August 2006 00:23 (nineteen years ago)

Oh wait, It was Milos Forman. In any case that movie was so bad it deserves its own thread.
