music scenes in china / former USSR? any info?

looking for some threads or links about teenage bands or music genres in China and former Soviet Union.

Im researching something for how teenagers make music in these areas and whether there are any scenes / genres specific to those area.

are the kids alright?

sadly the search feature has deceded to pack up ( just when I need it most).

anyone in these areas of the world care to give me info?

there's a lot of IDM-ish and downbeat techno going on in St. Petersburg.

There is an IDM scene in China. See http://www.shanshui-records.com/ , for example. There is also a nascent hip hop scene, there's some audio at http://www.shanghaining.com/features/SHrap/ .

I believe SCSI 9 is russian.

There is also a russian drum and bass scene: dissident et al.
