So, the moz fanbase have decided to all go and download "Life is a pigsty" to get it into the charts.

So how many and how effective are these campaigns going to be? Back in the day, anything like this was deemed "hyping" and banned from the chart.

Now, with no TOTP and minimal listenership for the 'chart' radio shows, is it rapidly becoming a ho-hum?

i seem to remember back in the day that people (ie pluggers) were paid to do this. i remember walking down oxford street and having people trying to force lps on me only to walk into virgin and see that the same band were doing an instore. (were the band even aware of this?)

seven years pass...

Mayall is set to appear in this weekend's Official Chart countdown, after a social media campaign encouraging fans to honour his memory by downloading a track he recorded for the 2010 World Cup.

The song, Noble England, failed to chart at the time of release but reached 38 in the midweek sales chart.

A song accusing Theresa May of being a "liar" is at number three in the latest Official Singles Chart update.

The track has also reached number three on the iTunes download chart.

It's performed and produced by Captain Ska, promoted by campaign organisation the People's Assembly Against Austerity and features speeches and news interviews from Theresa May.

The clips are followed by a chorus of "She's a liar, liar... you can't trust her, no no no no".
