announcing NaSoAlMo 2005
I'm so doing this. Anyone else game?

I did forward it on to some people who will be interested, though.

November is absolutely insane for me. I'm probably going to sign up knowing I'll likely fail to complete it, but either way I could do it (again) in January too. ;)

I had an idea for a band called "Band For A Day", it even has a song which goes "I'm in a band for a day, everyone shout hooray!" and then I play a crap guitar solo and throw stuff around, as I can't actually play anything.
We could always do an ilx version in December/January.

Thankfully, I do have a guitar with me here.

MM, where are you?

Anyway, I've set up a MySpace band page for my effort. There will probably be MP3s, in some stage of completeness, there at some stage.

I must confess, I'm not making much progress due to other committments and workload and general crap in my life. Got two songs written, neither of them properly recorded.
Anyone else having any luck?

Anyway good luck to you Kate, and anyone else still doing this. :)

I am a little worried about how much I'll be able to record though, since I get home to my studio on the afternoon of the 25th of November. I am trying to figure out if I want to just do all the songs sans arrangement (as just me and a guitar) or if I want to attempt to program drums or strings or whatever and play bass and other instruments in a 5 day spree while attempting to also work at my job. (Luckily I work from home, but even with that advantage my recording time will be limited.)
I really wish I'd have installed Sonar and Battery on my work laptop (which I have here with me). I may actually call my girlfriend and get her to mail my discs out here so I can do that.

But I guess that's what NaSoAlMo is about, getting to experiment and play around with things you wouldn't normally do.

No doubt this is often true, but Mr. Wolk's rules indicate that session musicians aren't allowed...
Hey what do I know? I couldn't finish mine cause I got too concepty and wanted to record everything in a non-simple way. :)

Both aim for 14 songs in 28 days. FAWM concentrates on writing & demoing songs, while RPM focuses on recording a complete album. FAWM used to be solo songwriters only, but is now open to groups. RPM has always been open to solo acts and groups. It depends what people want out of it. FAWM might suit people who have problems songwriting, while RPM may be better for people who have problems actually recording songs. I fall into the later category.
