Anybody here live in Glasgow? Anyone like to go for a drink, probably on the Friday night (but I'm not ruling out a post-shopping drink early on Saturday in the Uisge Beatha either)?

I'm just going to sneak in an answer to my own question here to take the bare look off it, so to speak.

Fred (Fred), Thursday, 24 November 2005 21:56 (nineteen years ago)

Hello! I'm going to a gig on the 2nd and I think Ally C from ILE is having a birthday party on the 3rd. I'm sure you'd be welcome to come to that, and other ilxors will be there too. The gig is invite only I'm afraid.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 25 November 2005 13:39 (nineteen years ago)

Ah, except it looks like you're busy on Saturday night. Could squeeze in some drinking before the gig, maybe.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 25 November 2005 13:41 (nineteen years ago)

i will be at an office party from 6pm on december 2. the moment i've tanned my two free drinks, i will be escaping, and will be up for an accentmonkey FAP somewhere.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 25 November 2005 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

i'm here too, trish. it would be nice to meet up (other glaswegian ILXors can vouch for my reliability at turning up to FAPs).

jed_ (jed), Friday, 25 November 2005 15:10 (nineteen years ago)

I have never met jed_

What is this invite-only thing (and am I worth, or do I even want, an invite?)

Anyway, yes, booze, I'm there. Wherever "there" is.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 25 November 2005 23:30 (nineteen years ago)

I am working on it. I just need to co-ordinate with The Brother.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Saturday, 26 November 2005 21:00 (nineteen years ago)

C4m3r4 0b5cur4 have 'wrapped' their album and are having a do, Ailsa. The invitation was on a word document with half the text spilling onto page 2, bless'em.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 28 November 2005 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

I just remembered that I met Jed!

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 28 November 2005 14:29 (nineteen years ago)

:-)

jed_ (jed), Monday, 28 November 2005 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

I am having a bad week at work and would be most welcoming of any suggestions for post-work boozing on Friday. Bring it on :)

(haha, Madchen, did they do that on purpose to try to maintain their lo-fi indie ethic?)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 29 November 2005 23:23 (nineteen years ago)

I think it might just be Gav's way with things.

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 09:32 (nineteen years ago)

Okay, let's for definite make it Friday after work. The Brother will just have to row in with that. Is there a pub where you guys like to go? Is this question a bad idea and will it just lead to endless arguments about what pub is a good pub? It always does in Dublin. Mr. Monkey likes somewhere with good whiskys, a good IPA, and bar food. I'm not fussy. We both like the Uisge Beatha very much but understand if other people prefer younger, more happening places.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 11:56 (nineteen years ago)

Haha "younger" "happening". You haven't met yer average Glasgow FAPper, have you? I am up for Uisge after work. Should we consult with "Try Glasgow More"? Or shall we just tell them Uisge after work on Friday.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

Well, my stupid brother has booked our posh food for Friday instead of Saturday. Which means we have to be at the restaurant at 7pm! V. early.

So, who will meet us for pints on Saturday instead?

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Thursday, 1 December 2005 00:14 (nineteen years ago)

Uisge would be very handy for me because it's near the RAFA so I could come along for a drink first.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 1 December 2005 09:37 (nineteen years ago)

plums, i can't do saturday 'cos i'm babysitting. boo and indeed hiss.

but, ailsa, i'll be drinking on friday and drifting ever closer to the woodside social, where i shall be watching swimmer one at about 10.30.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 1 December 2005 15:51 (nineteen years ago)

I may also be attended the woodside/swimmer one/hussys thingie as well. Grimly, I have your mobile number so I will text you tomorrow. Though I propose going to the Uisge straight after work anyway. I don't have the guts to read ILE at work, so if this thread takes the sort of turn which will mean no-one else going to the pub, can someone email me on the address below (it works, and I have less of teh fear about reading h0tmai1) so I don't end up hanging about on my own like a loser until my Pinup Nights attending mate turns up?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 December 2005 22:57 (nineteen years ago)

I don't have the guts to read ILE at work

Or ILB, come to think of it. I seem to have forgotten where I am.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 December 2005 23:08 (nineteen years ago)

So, I don't know who said they would or wouldn't come. Maybe if you are coming, you might text me and let me know?

Cheers.

posting from grassgrow (bato), Saturday, 3 December 2005 17:00 (nineteen years ago)

Let me know if at some point you want that removed...

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 3 December 2005 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I was in Glasgow on Saturday, and left the house about fifteen minutes before you posted that, or else I could have got in touch. I hope you had fun :)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 4 December 2005 19:19 (nineteen years ago)

Annoyingly it all went a bit pear-shaped in the meeting people department. But we had a nice time anyway. I will try and meet people on a Friday next time, because it's much easier to co-ordinate ILXOrs on a weekday when everyone (almost everyone) can check the boards in work.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Monday, 5 December 2005 00:42 (nineteen years ago)

Hi Trish. Sorry we didn't get to meet up this time. I'm afraid Glasgow is notoriously bad at organising FAP action, although we have been a bit better of late. Definitely let us know next time you're around - I'd recommend posting on try glasgow more as well so everyone sees.
