This thread has been locked: LiveJournal - classic or dud

I bet whoever locked the thread was a LiveJournal user.

I am. But how would a 'LiveJournal - classic or dud' be different to the older threads? 'LiveJournal vs Blogger' and 'LiveJournal vs ILX' both run thru the pros and cons of the facility - they effectively fulfil the purpose a 'C or D' thread would. I thought 'why not just revive one of those threads if you want to discuss LiveJournal'? Wouldn't that be more practical?

Threads comparing LJ to something else are different to a thread discussing LJ in and of itself. Christ, are we not allowed have new threads about anything that has been in a taking sides thread now?

Threads comparing LJ to something else are different to a thread discussing LJ in and of itself.

But in practice they all amount to the same thing. You have to take it on a thread-by-thread basis. If the TS threads hadn't gone anywhere or incorporated a 'C or D' element into them (as most S/D threads do - why do we even bother with these distinctions in 2006?) then a new thread would be more worthwhile.

Have you actually read the older threads and found that they do not cover the topic as much as you'd like? Or just annoyed that your thread was locked so abruptly? I'm sorry for that but I did at least link to the older VERY-VERY-similar-in-premise threads first.

I only did it because I genuinely thought it would be better to refer to the older threads and use those as the basis for any new thoughts rather than just start the same argument again.
