Sorry to butt in here but... "controversial" locking option? Every forum in existence uses thread locking - liberally usually - and it makes sense because newbies can read a locked thread, see why it was locked (eg "this has already been asked, see here - thread closed"). Rather than deletion, which leaves people confused, old references as to why certain posters might have been annoying/banned gone, and general patchiness.

I dont understand why deletion has ever been an option here except in cases of extreme breach of privacy/legalities. Lock early and lock often, I say.

Calum has had loads of stuff deleted and was banned in the past. He's obviously one of the leading contenders to be banned again. He is nonetheless making a little more effort to do something more than simply insult other posters (admittedly not very successfully), whereas Randy/JAKC are doing only that. Someone else behaving badly, and being threatened with a ban for it, obviously doesn't remotely mean that someone else behaving badly is safe.
