MORRISON ON BATMAN!

Amadeo (Amadeo G.), Saturday, 11 February 2006 22:50 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not going to get my hopes up yet, but this could be the first time I have an ongoing Batman title on my pull list since the 80s.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 11 February 2006 22:58 (nineteen years ago)

I'm also going to learn html.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 11 February 2006 22:59 (nineteen years ago)

Oh wow, that sounds great, though I'm not at all happy with the Kuberts being attached as artists. God, I loathe those two. It kinda kills me to think how many comics I've bought that they've drawn without every liking their work.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Saturday, 11 February 2006 23:40 (nineteen years ago)

oh, the kuberts are the artists???. meh.

I liked one of them, I can never remember who.

it's the same problem I have with the upcoming wildcats...Jim Lee...meh.

Amadeo (Amadeo G.), Sunday, 12 February 2006 00:07 (nineteen years ago)

and in his first issue alone, he has 15 ninja man-bats

Don't know exactly what this means, but I'm sold.

chap who would dare to be drunk on the internet (chap), Sunday, 12 February 2006 01:17 (nineteen years ago)

That really could be the entirety of their advertising right there.

Tep (ktepi), Sunday, 12 February 2006 01:20 (nineteen years ago)

Don't know exactly what this means, but I'm sold.

i like batman, i like morrison = i will read this.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 12 February 2006 02:17 (nineteen years ago)

I'm in. I really hope it's not Andy Kubert Wolferine/1602 style art though, I can't imagine that working for "hairy-chested love god Batman."

Jordan (Jordan), Sunday, 12 February 2006 03:04 (nineteen years ago)

If it must be a Kubert brother, let's at least hope that it's Adam. He's at least mildly competent.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Sunday, 12 February 2006 04:37 (nineteen years ago)

It's Grant Morrison on a DC superhero book = it will have rubbish art! It's the LAW (except Doom Patrol, and that was 1989)

kit brash (kit brash), Sunday, 12 February 2006 05:06 (nineteen years ago)

Well, surely All Star Superman is an exception?

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Sunday, 12 February 2006 18:05 (nineteen years ago)

Whoops, I meant to type DCU.

kit brash (kit brash), Sunday, 12 February 2006 23:04 (nineteen years ago)

This is fucking awesome news to greet someone just returned from a weekend away with a multitude of painful ice hockey injuries.

"Fucking Awesome!"
Paul, ILC

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Monday, 13 February 2006 03:34 (nineteen years ago)

Likewise (only substitute futile last-ditch attempt to keep my job for hockey injuries), this (and a few other tidbits from WonderCon) has completely upturned my outlook on the Post-Infinite DCU (not enough to keep me from dropping Teen Titans, though).

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 February 2006 04:49 (nineteen years ago)

On the other hand (warning, giant OH NOES ahead), http://comics.ign.com/articles/688/688140p1.html

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 February 2006 04:55 (nineteen years ago)

From what I heard, he is senile now.

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 13 February 2006 05:07 (nineteen years ago)

I must say, though, that I still enjoy his art. The Superman cover to All-Star B&RTBW they're showing on all the spiffy internet sites is pretty rad.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 February 2006 05:12 (nineteen years ago)

To me, he's gotten really chunky -- his lines are too thick, blocky, smug and self-satisfied.

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 13 February 2006 05:26 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, isn't it great!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 February 2006 05:49 (nineteen years ago)

I'm hoping that he hasn't actually pitched this to DC yet, he just intends to turn up at their offices in a Batman suit and growl "I'm Goddamn Frank Miller!" until they agree.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 13 February 2006 09:10 (nineteen years ago)

RE: morrison

I can really see both of the Kuberts drawing scimitars. I'm excited!

Re: Miller

I'm a Miller fan. That being said, that Holy Terror stuff seems to be crap (unless he's on all-star/tales to offend mode)

i0dine, Monday, 13 February 2006 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

I think we should all chip in and buy Holy Terror for Tuomas with a card that says "Okay, you're right."

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 February 2006 14:24 (nineteen years ago)

I like Miller too, but I'm trying to think what the last Miller comic I read that I thought was great. Attack of the Dark Knight had its moments, but it was like reading Miller writing Dark Knight fanfic (which is not an exclusively bad thing).

This thing sounds completely outside the wagons.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 13 February 2006 15:13 (nineteen years ago)

If it's outside the wagons, then who's in the circle?!?

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 13 February 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

Uncrazy comics creators! Sensible things like DC One Million and Detective Chimp. Doop. Marvel Zombies. The Psycho-Pirate.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 13 February 2006 16:46 (nineteen years ago)

When was the last time the Psycho-Pirate really acted like a psycho?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 February 2006 16:48 (nineteen years ago)

And when was the last time he acted like a pirate, huh?

Superheroes/Supervillains vs Dept. of Weights & Measures

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 February 2006 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

Shit I posted on that thread. What a lousy, unreliable memory I have.

Depressingly McKean-ish art - also, I don't approve of words being dominant, having not read a single book sans pictures in all my life.

Richard "Genius Jones" Baez (Johnny Logic), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 21:08 (eighteen years ago)

Is GJ that Newsmarma poster what exemplifies the READING OH NOES headaches their thread gave me?

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 21:12 (eighteen years ago)

Genius Jones, from the TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED Doc 13 back-up strip:

Genius Jones. I was shipwrecked on an island with all the books in the world. And I read every one. So now I know everything there is to know.

He looks quite delightful as drawn by Cliff Chiang. But don't we all?

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Thursday, 8 February 2007 00:03 (eighteen years ago)

Oh yeah! I meant to say something about how the METAtwist that story's taking is 31 flavors of disappointing (speaking of Newsmarma headaches).
