It's up: http://www.diamondcomics.com/shipping/shipping_062806.txt

For me:
52 WEEK 8 mais oui
DCU BRAVE NEW WORLD #1 because it's a buck and then I'll have the pleasure of making fun of it
LUCIFER #75 actually I'll probably just wait for the trade, as I've done with most of the rest of the series
SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #19 hey, did anybody else notice that they cut the page count a few months ago without so much as a by-your-leave?
CIVIL WAR FRONT LINE #2 because maybe this time they'll have corrected the spelling of Steve Lieber's name on the front cover
DAREDEVIL #86 I totally want to see what happens next
NEW AVENGERS #21 rushed out after last week's issue to make up for how mindbendingly awful it was, perhaps?
BABEL #2 because I think David B. is my favorite currently active cartoonist
DUNGEON VOL. 1 TP actually I'm hoping this is the RIGHT Dungeon vol. 1, there are four different series, from what I understand

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 26 June 2006 19:17 (nineteen years ago)

DC NEW FRONTIER SER 1 ACTION FIGURES COOL COOL BUT WON'T BUY THEM
DCU BRAVE NEW WORLD #1 - SPINNING OUT OF THE EVENTS OF THE BATTLE FOR BLUDHAVEN!!!
SOLO #11 - ARAGONES!
SUPERMAN RETURNS KRYPTONITE PROP REPLICA - AKA BRANDON ROUTH'S ACTING ABILITIES- GEDDIT???
CIVIL WAR FRONT LINE #2 (OF 10) - More fun(ny) than 52.
DAREDEVIL #86 - in jail Matt Murdock can't hear you scream (because he's deaf)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 26 June 2006 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

Big week for me!

Daredevil, Runaways, X-Men, X-Factor, Supergirl & The Legion of Super Heroes, 52, and Action Comics.

I am extrmely psyched for DD and Runaways in particular.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Monday, 26 June 2006 20:09 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I'll get DCU New World too, why not.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Monday, 26 June 2006 20:10 (nineteen years ago)

I must be getting soft(er) in my old age, because I had absolutely no problem w/ the last issue of New Avengers (aside from having to read Joey Q's Nude-drama weekly press release to understand the Xorn / Magento (sic!) thing) (cf. He Ain't Heavy, He's My Black-Hole-Brained Brother).

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 26 June 2006 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

52, Action Comics, Daredevil , Babel and Sergio Solo (yay) fer me. Plus lots to read in the store. Superman is rallying a bit in the last minutes, I think. 52 is not the dazzler I was hoping for but I'm happy to keep buying it.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Monday, 26 June 2006 20:28 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe Magento isn't as (sic) as you think, David.

Do I smell another incarnation for Mr. Magnets???

He's the brother with the black hole in his head.

solo, if it looks good.
i think laura is buying civil war frontline and i can just read hers. i don't care about civil war at all really. i'd rather just read cap & iron mang's solo titles. is that weird? i don't read new avengers anymore, either. blah. i don't know what this means.

SUPERMAN RETURNS KRYPTONITE PROP REPLICA to awestruck movie studio.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 06:22 (nineteen years ago)

geez, I've gotta prune my list. It's 52, Action, Blazin' Spidey-Mang, Annihilation: Ronan, Civil War Front Line, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, Nextwave, and X-Factor for me this week. I've got low expectations for all but three of them. But who needs money anyway, right?

Ion and Blue Beatle might be waiting for me, too, if I added them last month. If I did, I'll probably wind up removing them this week. Can't be throwing my three bucks away on kinda sorta alright comics.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 12:49 (nineteen years ago)

Like Civil War: Frontline and Fantastic Four?

:D

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 12:53 (nineteen years ago)

My deep-rooted Marvel zombie-ism has proven hard to shake. I can tolerate sub-mediocrity with characters I've liked since I was 7. And I should give Frontline at least a second chance. Wait, I haven't even read the first one yet. I need to get on that.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

Just how good IS x-factor? a few people have been pimping it lately. are we in the midst of an arc or is it a relatively easy place to hop on? i don't keep up with any x-continuity outside of astonishing; maybe it's time to start.

the eunuchs, Cassim and Mustafa, who guarded Abdur Ali's harem (orion), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 14:38 (nineteen years ago)

It is OK. The art is generally lovely. But it's not as good as his first run on the title. Infact, yt's possible I might have grown out of Peter David, in a way I haven't with other writers. Maybe his stuff works best for gloomy teens -- he has a very teenage idea of what "being an adult" is about, sorta like Warren Ellis.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

I am getting Front Line, Ian. Also New Avengers, in search of redemption. Also whatever Civil War tie-ins that are good when I read them at lunch. Are you getting JLA Classified??

Laurah (laurah), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 16:46 (nineteen years ago)

ALSO after I get paid I am going to buy Transformers: The Movie and The Return of Optimus Prime. Maybe you and Sara and I should watch them later in the week??

SHOWCASE ELONGO NEXT WEEK PEOPLES

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 17:26 (nineteen years ago)

i haven't gotten the newest JLA classified cuz it's not by a writer i know/like and the team is not particularly appealing to me.

the eunuchs, Cassim and Mustafa, who guarded Abdur Ali's harem (orion), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 17:51 (nineteen years ago)

anyone else dropping it? i remember liking the first issue quite a bit.

SPIDER MAN LOVES MARY JANE #7

Will Mary Jane emerge from her emo/goth phase a stronger more mature young woman or is she now a Death Cab For Cutie fan for life?

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 20:19 (nineteen years ago)

SPIDEY LOVES MJ = BEST MARVEL TITLE RIGHT NOW.

the eunuchs, Cassim and Mustafa, who guarded Abdur Ali's harem (orion), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 20:42 (nineteen years ago)

I keep wanting to buy those Spidey/MJ digests. Maybe this week.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 20:43 (nineteen years ago)

Are you kidding me? I followed MJ ♥ SM for about 4-5 issues, and it was cute but the dialogue was the proverbial weaksauce.

KIRBY IS WRONG

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 21:44 (nineteen years ago)

I have to say, I think Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane has crazy cute art and one of the best titles for an ongoing comic ever but I don't think I would have even bought it when I was a 12 year old GOIL and my favorite superhero was Spider-Man. A little Lionel Girls' Train, you know? Which begs the question, who is buying that comic??? Other than grown dudes who have to issue the "SHUT YR ASS IT'S A GOOD COMIC" disclaimer to the dude at the register every month I mean. Possibly comic nerds' young daughters? I always assume the bulk of the kid audience for like the Johnny DC books is made up of the children of dudes who hit the comic book shop every week, although you can buy those at Borders I guess so maybe not.

Adrienne Begley (sparklecock), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 07:37 (nineteen years ago)

What's the "fun" Spidey title that sometimes gets mentioned? Possibly by PAD?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 13:41 (nineteen years ago)

PAD's is the funnest, especially by comparison to Ken Burns' Spider-Man and the Advantageous Spider-Bro. (Current arc: future Hobgoblin travels back in time, brings Uncle Ben along, causes a ruckus.) Tho I imagine the Marvel Adventures all-ages title brings the true spider-fun.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 14:12 (nineteen years ago)

Friendly NEighborhood = SPider-bro? that one is pretty cartoony fun.

¨ˆ¨ˆ¨ˆ¨ˆ¨ˆ¨ˆ (chaki), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 16:28 (nineteen years ago)

PAD = Friendly Neighborhood (i.e. the fun one)
Advantageous = Spectacular
Ken Burns = Amazing

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 16:30 (nineteen years ago)

how the hell was i supposed to know that?

¨ˆ¨ˆ¨ˆ¨ˆ¨ˆ¨ˆ (chaki), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 16:35 (nineteen years ago)

PAD? what is PAD

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 16:37 (nineteen years ago)

Isn't it obvious? ^_^

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 16:37 (nineteen years ago)

PAD = Peter A. David, New York Times bestselling author, best known for his 100+ issue run on The Incredible Hulk; currently writing Sensational Spider-Man and X-Factor for Marvel Comics (and Fallen Angel for IDW).

ACTION PHILOSOPHERS TP which is pretty good
ALL-STAR SUPES the latest one which starts great but since I don't know from "doomsday" doesn't end as great and since when is superman invulnerable to green kryptonite and who thought that was a good idea?
some kind of $1 SUPER-DUPER WELCOME TO THE BRAVE NEW DC UNIVERSE thing with like 8 awful stories introducing boring new books
FREE HORRIBLE VIRGIN COMICS INTRO SAMPLER THING with comics created by shekhar kapur, deepak chopra and richard bronson, actually as bad as that sounds
SOLO ARAGONES, a treat so far especially the marty feldman story.

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 29 June 2006 04:20 (nineteen years ago)

invulnerability to green kryptonite = first issue of ASS when he flew into the sun, right?

+ ooh, new SM ♥ MJ! Any genre work set in a US high school = TEH WINNER. (haha, other stuff I'm excited about = LoSH & Runaways!)

etc, Thursday, 29 June 2006 05:23 (nineteen years ago)

Remember that ASS is completely unrelated to current continuity.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 29 June 2006 08:48 (nineteen years ago)

WARLOCK DEMANDS ABSOLUTE "I KILLED MARTY FELDMAN"

Warlock Magazine (Warlock Magazine), Thursday, 29 June 2006 13:31 (nineteen years ago)

52 WEEK #8 - I would really like to see Ralph go all Anti-Capes, like Green Arrow did in The Nail and be the G. Gordon Godfrey for a new generation. Also, in the HOTDCU, the Dead Girl Robin/Spoiler looked like a last minute addition. Bowing to Girl-Wonder pressure? C
BATMAN #654 - NO MORE CRYING BATMAN & ROBIN, PLEASE. C
BLUE BEETLE #4 - Art seemed rushed, especially the Black Canary cameo. But the story was enjoyable. B-
CRISIS AFTERMATH THE SPECTRE #2 (OF 3) - HEY RUCKA, ARE YOU READING THIS? REMEMBER WHEN YOU USED TO DO GREAT CHARACTER WORK LIKE THIS--WITH THIS VERY CHARACTER??? B+
DCU BRAVE NEW WORLD #1 - OH FUCK YOU TOO, DC. F
SOLO #11 - Awesome. A
DAREDEVIL #86 - Yeah. Kick ass. A

My report:

52 WEEK 8: reviewed here
DCU BRAVE NEW WORLD #1: actually I REALLY liked the Atom story; rest is godawful, but a buck for the Atom thing isn't bad. B-
SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #19 best and most fun issue in a while, & it's even a done-in-one, pretty much. A-
CIVIL WAR FRONT LINE #2 you know, the least Jenkins could do is write JJJ's dialogue in character (e.g. not saying "an'" for "and"). C
DAREDEVIL #86 Matthew's right--best issue of the Brubaker run. Genuinely suspenseful. A
NEW AVENGERS #21 very pretty, yet dopey. B
BABEL #2 they didn't have it at the store around the corner from me! which may be an example of why the store arond the corner from me appears to be going out of business.

So that Brave New World thing - on a scale of one to ten, how dickish is it for DC to be threatening another Crisis On Infinite Earths sequel about five minutes after the last one ended?

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Thursday, 29 June 2006 17:15 (nineteen years ago)

INFINITE. (someone was going to say it - why not me?)

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Thursday, 29 June 2006 17:23 (nineteen years ago)

that last splash page was SO LAME. especially the monitor on the ramp there in that stupid pose (in the upper right)

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 29 June 2006 17:27 (nineteen years ago)

It's kinda astonishing how much goodwill DC has burned up in the last year. The lead-in minis to Infinite Crisis were generally pretty good, Infinite Crisis itself was kind of a glorious punk out, and now, it's like, IT'S THE NEW DC UNIVERSE, 95% bumfodder!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 29 June 2006 17:37 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, but on the other hand, there was exactly one DU Comic I was enthusiastic about (Legion), and now there's a fair few that I'm reading regularly - this last Superman storyline, Morrison Batman, Wonder Woman, 52...

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Thursday, 29 June 2006 17:59 (nineteen years ago)

Serious lols at the Shakespeare quote on that dumb last page of BNW

Adrienne Begley (sparklecock), Thursday, 29 June 2006 18:02 (nineteen years ago)

hahaha

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 29 June 2006 18:07 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, you're regularly reading Morrison Batman are you? You fucking liar.
But really, of course, you're right. DC's done a bang-up job of fulfilling one of their stated goals for all this Infinite Hochimama: to reinvigorate The Big Three as the cornerstones of whatever. Dull-ass Robinson Batman aside (though Len Kirk's art was often boffo).
It just seems like the vast majority of THE REST OF THE DCU (which has always sorta been my fave stuff, second-rate heroes and weirdo offshoots) is floundering.
