I assumed they were revered after seeing their best-of album advertised about 34763403 times on TV. I toyed with downloading some of their singles but I can't imagine myself following up on that whole *look*.... which is what this thread is about, right??

I feel the same about the Cocteau twins, their music is very moreish, but I find the whole "singing nonsense" thing a tad superficial. Plus the lead singer looks like a librarian.

Pavement are a pretty great band that maybe get a little too masturbated over on ILM. I mean I love them and all but...

If you're coming to them in 2006 expecting them to be life-changing. It probably isn't going to happen.

I'll take them over most bands of their ilk today, but only because the same "kind of thing" a decade later has become creatively speaking, a dusty corpse and an embarrasment to music.

I guess. I thought this one was worded better though. "Bands You Feel Like You Should Appreciate" didn't make any sense to me. Maybe that one should have been "well respected bands (by the masses)..." or "highly touted bands..." This could have been "bands that you respect, but..." Although it is a fine line.
