nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN ALL THIS IN NON-DORKSPEAK?

SLOWLY?

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

schrieber fucked up allowing unrestricted web access to all kinds of shit such as mp3s, email, and an amex number.

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I FIGURED IT WAS SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

the emailing the dude's fiance thing was seriously seriously fucked tho

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

well, a lot of it was pretty fucked! people have no morals! shockah!

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I just read the whole thing, so funny.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

someone leaked the pitchfork ftp server address [which is now 404]:

http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/1up/

then someone was poking around and decided to mess with the url and typed in [also now 404]:

http://www.pitchformedia.com/2up/

which harbored pitchfork's mail server, personal files, photos, media rates, and in general exposed a lot of the finances, personal behavior and general assumed idiocy of Pitchfork. They are clearing about $200,000/yr. in ad revenue, and in total-SHOCKAH: gouging the indies but willing to piggy-back/double-up ads for the majors/pseudo-indies.

The Ad Director comes off as a complete moron, the Editor-In-Chief comes off about as you'd expect from his Jim O'Rourke reviews in the early days of Pitchfork. The Ad Director might be having an extra-curricular affair on his girlfriend and one of the PFMB dudes brought a questionable email to his girlfriend's attention.

MAKE .../2UP/ YOURS

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

That sucks. Isn't this taking the anti-pitchfork sentiment a little too far?

dubya's emo army of compassion and guns (deangulberry), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:12 (twenty-one years ago)

dean, are you a compassionate conservative?

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't see why people are so threatened by pitchfork

dubya's emo army of compassion and guns (deangulberry), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

FWIW, i agree with you. but that is PRIVATE SENTIMENT and it BREAKS WITH PARTY LINES.

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel out of the loop on the pitchfork thing. people seem to hate it so much and i don't know if there's a legit reason behind that as far as off-board pfk behavior goes or if it is just a jealous / spiteful reaction to pfk's popularity. if so, that thread went way too far and was pretty malicious.

dubya's emo army of compassion and guns (deangulberry), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

let's start hating on hipinion now... how can people post on that board with a straight face

sometimes i like to pretend i am very small and warm (ex machina), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

i've never heard of it before today. tell me, deaner, why is it more pathetic than ILX?

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't compare it to ilx nor did i say it was pathetic. i was wondering if people have a legit reason beyond pitchfork's existence to hate them so much that i am not aware of. it's okay ian, no one's attacking you.

dubya's emo army of compassion and guns (deangulberry), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I AM JUST FEELING BORED AND ARGUMENTATIVE TODAY DEANER, NO HARD FEEELINGS (ONLY HARD COX)

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds like a personal problem, son.

dubya's emo army of compassion and guns (deangulberry), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i blame the rain.

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

FUCK PITCHFORK. I AM NOT JEALOUS OF INDIE FUX0RZ THAT ARE RONG & HAVE THEIR HEADS UP THEIR ASSHOLEZ.

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 15 October 2004 21:10 (twenty-one years ago)

i used to rag on the fork a lot because they were sort of the token ballsuck webzine. they got free shit. they wrote badly. they were factually a mess. (and still are.) the opinions were opinions like anybody's, but somehow a lot of records seemed so off. they reviewed stuff they had no knowledge of whatsoever and that really put many people out.

and now i find out that they made good money too.

somewhere tho, i got bored of ragging on them. and they did get better people and grew up a lot it seemed.

for what it's worth, i actually do look at their site... i don't ever really read the reviews tho. and the news section is horribly inaccurate.

what's the town next to springfield? shelbyville? it's like that. they stole the goddam lemon tree! ah fuck it, let em have it. a jobby job in the biz would probably ruin the magic.

nine months pass...
" With a penchant for sloppy dance beats and an ear for sonic minutiae, Tom Vek unites skill sets as antipodal as Rapture and Elvrum. But considering one cannot legally, conscientiously or sincerely enjoy indie rock anymore, We Have Sound puts me in an awkward spot."

Oh you guys might enjoy this, I started a shitty ILM thread about it this morning. For the Lightning Bolt news story today, they put up a pic of Pink and Brown instead of Lightning Bolt. BLOOPER!

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to start using the word BLOOPER more.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:08 (twenty years ago)

BONER is better than BLOOPER.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:13 (twenty years ago)

Oh I'm not too sure about that.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:56 (twenty years ago)

I like Young People but gygax's assessment seems pretty accurate as far as I can tell.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

NAH PINK AND BROWN HAD SOME JAMMMZZZZZZZZZ!!

DWYER HATE ASIDE.

ddb (ddb), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:59 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 29 July 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 29 July 2005 15:08 (twenty years ago)

i didn't mind too much of the OCS stuff i heard. never really got into the coachwhips, but pink and brown was kinda stupid fun to see live. usually it just turned into a bunch of dorkass friends of the band tackling each other.

YOUNG PEOPLE IS THE WORSTEST

plain ol' jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 29 July 2005 16:48 (twenty years ago)

OCS is probably Dwyer's best work. Maybe that's when he takes his meds.

Those last 5 or whatever Pink & Brown songs so totally nullify/ trump the stuff that preceded it and really anything every associated with Fort Thunder...I would've thought this was noise mantra or something.
