End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

OK WE GET IT

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 5 May 2006 15:28 (nineteen years ago)

....waiting.

gbx (skowly), Friday, 5 May 2006 15:28 (nineteen years ago)

for what?

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 15:36 (nineteen years ago)

Steve Mackay .. from the Stooges??

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 5 May 2006 15:37 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, from the Stooges. For that week over the summer he is in between Stooges tours, so we got lucky.

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 15:40 (nineteen years ago)

I mean, I wasn't even aware he was back and doing gigs with the Stooges let alone solo stuff...

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 5 May 2006 15:54 (nineteen years ago)

Yep, been around for a few years as a matter of fact...

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 15:58 (nineteen years ago)

FYI: You should list "v00redoms" innstead of "Boredoms" as Boredoms broke up about 6-7 years ago.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

BOREDOMS FANBOY CLUBHOUSE

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:02 (nineteen years ago)

That's actually why it's being called the Boredoms. It's not the voordoms or whatever. It's, what I'm being led to believe, the original line-up of the Boredoms.

Hstencil - I imagine you make yourself laugh!

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:08 (nineteen years ago)

original Boredoms performing somewhere is headline news - can you confirm this?

Dominique (dleone), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

They were called BOREDOMS on last tour as well.

JW (ex machina), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:11 (nineteen years ago)

The Intonation Festival Director in Chicago went so far as to claim that the original (sic) lineup for Boredoms would be reuniting for the Chicago show (which is total bullshit but just to sell tickets).

The group touring the US calls itself v00redoms whenever they play in Japan. Why Windish Agency and The Foundation represents them as Boredoms in the US is pretty strange, like if The For Carnation toured Japan billed as Slint.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:11 (nineteen years ago)

must be the $$

Dominique (dleone), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

End Times Festival dude, EYE and Yoshimi are the only ones from the "original" Boredoms lineup on the tour. They are playing warmup gigs in Osaka and Tokyo for this tour as v00redoms, sorry to break the news to you.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, this information is def coming from Windish.

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

no, it's the nerding out over stuff like this makes me laugh, guy.

good luck with the fest, sounds like a good time.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:14 (nineteen years ago)

Paging Sam Hunt... Please pick up the white courtesy phone.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

I could care less who the exact line-up is. There are plenty of other amazing things on the line-up to get excited about rather than "japanese dude x ain't with em, you should technically call them 23dz992lksa,.e, sniff sniff gargle."

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

I doubt you'd be laughing if this band was on M@t@d0r... you'd be OUTRAGED!!!!!!!!!!111

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

You mean like all the noise bands I saw for free in 2002?

JW (ex machina), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

haha steve shasta you are a treat

tehresa (tehresa), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

This is reminscent of the Bunnybrains controversy...

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

Why would anyone care?

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

they sound different than they used to sound (and especially for a lot of the older "Boredoms" fans) not necessarily a change for the better, hence the concern

Dominique (dleone), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:19 (nineteen years ago)

You mean like all the noise bands I saw for free in 2002?

There it is!

gbx (skowly), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:19 (nineteen years ago)

Let's get off the Boredoms. Talk about Slums.

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:20 (nineteen years ago)

What if Jon Singer wasn't involved in the ZCR reunion? WOULD ANYBODY CARE?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!1111

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:20 (nineteen years ago)

That's a whole different story!

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:20 (nineteen years ago)

How can you replace someone who'll put up with a drunk Turkington?

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:21 (nineteen years ago)

DO YOU SEE?!!?!??!?!!!!1111

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

i think you're the only one "outraged," steve.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 5 May 2006 16:35 (nineteen years ago)

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 8 May 2006 17:20 (nineteen years ago)

I don't like that band. Shasta is also gross, but drinking that drink and listening to that band go hand in hand. Glad you thought of it!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 22 May 2006 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Monday, 22 May 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, it's up and it's down. I'm just glad they actually put something/anything up. The Jamz last year were almost better than the bands themselves. Totally amazing. But they are right and that's the nature of the activity, it could completely blow up terribly, being that this is the first time any of these people have talked let alone played together, or it could be incredible, which last year, was.

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Monday, 22 May 2006 14:57 (nineteen years ago)

Pitchfork sucks

JW (ex machina), Monday, 22 May 2006 15:40 (nineteen years ago)

yeh no shit sherlock

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 22 May 2006 15:52 (nineteen years ago)

Ah Passive - Aggressivity on the internet, so non-transparent!

End Times Festival (endtimesfestival), Monday, 22 May 2006 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

dude, relax, that was to jon, and was just a joek! sheesh, so sensitittytive.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 22 May 2006 16:23 (nineteen years ago)

you would be sensitive too if the weight of JAMZ fell on your shoulders

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Monday, 22 May 2006 16:44 (nineteen years ago)

th peefork diss ws so weak anyway it cant even really be labeled a dis sin th hisstory of disses..it was more like they couldnt come up w anyuthing withering so they made fun of jamz which is pretty ripe for tomato throwing anyway

dan bunnybrain (dan bunnybrain), Monday, 22 May 2006 16:55 (nineteen years ago)

one month passes...
I went to friday and sat. nite....

Steve Mackaye was pretty underwhelming...sounds like Nashville Pussy w/freejazz sax "biker freejazz"? maybe...

Smegma was hands-down the highlight, amazing acid rock/free electronics/slide whistle, turntable, lap guitar, drumz, really really great...

Oxbow is really something to see, put out a wierd violent sex vibe, music reminds me if like scratch acid used "dazed and confused" by led zep as their template, slow crawly death blooze...

Also liked: Yellow Swans (sort of like MBV w/o songs, pretty noise), TITS were pretty cool no-wave skronk, as were Death Sentence Panda, Total Shutdown was great, played on the floor, lots of math hardcore craziness, kids got nuts during their set....

Noel Von Harmonson did circuit bending/damaged electro stuff, bunch of guitar pedals in a suitcase, that shit kinda gets on my nerves.

Borbatomagus - holy shit, hands down the most brutal, loud, hellish shit i've ever heard/seen....two sax + telecaster...3 dudes in their 50s maybe? i don't know if "enjoyed" is a term to use, but very amazing on a certain level...

Flying Luttenbachers - man i haven't seen them in like 10 yrs, since the old Skin Graft days, i don't really like what they are like now as much, sort of metal, chops, guitar center vibe now, very math rock...

Zip Code Rapists - Neil Hamburger's "band", sort of pathetic/sad covers band...was sort of funny cuz we were all so drunk and tired by the end of sat nite, did a hilarious cover of chris issaks' wicked game sung to a stuff animal unicorn...i'd rather die than listen to it on CD though probably.

magick markers didn't do much for me, but i missed the first half of the set, which people said was way better than the dirgey second half.

M@tt He1geson, Rendolent Ding-Dong (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 26 June 2006 16:27 (nineteen years ago)

rusted shut was kinda cool, sort of sludgey 70s rock meets early brutal hardcore like negative approach or something, but with wierd vocal loops + total chaos, my friend called them the "crazy horse of noise" which is about right.

M@tt He1geson, Rendolent Ding-Dong (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 26 June 2006 16:30 (nineteen years ago)

hegelson you never heard of borbetomagus?!!?!? totally pioneers of rulin' forever.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 26 June 2006 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

"sherlock"

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 26 June 2006 19:04 (nineteen years ago)

stence, i'd heard the name but was not familiar with borbetomagus...i'm a no1ze di1111etante!

M@tt He1geson, Rendolent Ding-Dong (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 26 June 2006 19:15 (nineteen years ago)

I think I saw Borbetomagus around '85. May catch Magik Markers in Portland.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

yeah some people seemed to like them, i guess i don't "get" the magik markers.

M@tt He1geson, Rendolent Ding-Dong (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 14:56 (nineteen years ago)

I went on Sunday night only.

OK: Nmperign

Awful: Taiwan Deth

GREAT:
Yowie - math rock 3-piece from St. Louis on Skin Graft, excellent
Burning Star Core - solo violin, voice & effects, loved it
XBXRX - screamy spazzy hardcore w/matching trousers, very fun
V∞redoms - V∞redoms

Best show in ages. I forgot to get a Boredoms t-shirt.

xero (xero), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

taiwan deth was awful? that's too bad.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 15:41 (nineteen years ago)

was WW in XBXRX?

Werner Herzog Netflix Quine (ex machina), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 15:45 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe "awful" is too strong. I just found them very boring and noodly.

xero (xero), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 15:45 (nineteen years ago)

I don't believe so, no. (xp)

xero (xero), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 15:47 (nineteen years ago)

the only time i saw xbxrx they opened for unwound, came out and spazzed out w/keyboards and guitars for like 3 minutes then were done w/the set.

M@tt He1geson, Rendolent Ding-Dong (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 17:40 (nineteen years ago)

also like i said i hadn't seen weasel walter forever and he looks so normal now!!! like an accountant.

M@tt He1geson, Rendolent Ding-Dong (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 17:40 (nineteen years ago)

Last time I saw Weas-El, Son of Jor-El, he looked like an accountant but with two long devil locks on either side of his otherwise-shaved head. Nice effect w/tie and short-sleeved white button-down shirt.

XBXRX played for like 20 minutes, which I gather is an epic set for them.

xero (xero), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 20:07 (nineteen years ago)

xbxrx is bad enough, but compared to their bad undie or peaches-ripoff sideprojects I guess it could seem to be like the best thing ever.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 20:13 (nineteen years ago)

I enjoyed them. They got the job done. Unfamiliar w/side projects.

xero (xero), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

Prediction: Yowie will rise to eminence. Kind of a U.S. Maple-ish math-rock thing without vocals. 2 guitars & drums. Ferocious playing. I intend to buy their album, Cryptozoology.

xero (xero), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 20:25 (nineteen years ago)

Nah, I predict more hip-hop and latin chart dominance.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 21:00 (nineteen years ago)

By the end of 2007, all hip-hop and reggaeton will have been surpassed in popularity by Yowie and Yowie alone. Mark my words.

xero (xero), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 21:13 (nineteen years ago)

Yngwie and Yuka

Werner Herzog Netflix Quine (ex machina), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

all new skin graft bands will ride the commercial coattails of 2008's unforeseen Mount Shasta craze.

M@tt He1geson, Rendolent Ding-Dong (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 22:08 (nineteen years ago)
