Clikitat Ikatowi

isn't there really just one San Diego band that keeps reforming under different names to give the illusion of scene fertility?

that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

ddb (ddb), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

their first album is great, especially the last song.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, they're my least favorite of the three that I named, but I figured they deserved a mention on this list. They had one good song on that tropical murder mystery album from a couple years back, too.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

gygax otm

the new hot snakes is fantastic, btw!!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

They had one good song on that tropical murder mystery album from a couple years back, too.

It's called "Sympathy Crime": it sounds like G-funk!!

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 30 January 2005 22:15 (twenty years ago)

50. Silver Sunshine - UK freakbeat inspired group with some real ramalama heavyosity going on, too. Wow -- REALLY great, at least live. Opened for Jennifer Gentle the other night.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

Sorry for the criticopoeticism "ramalama heavyosity." I'm referring to the MC5.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Monday, 18 April 2005 19:09 (twenty years ago)

51. Tanner, great story about these guys. You know it, don'tcha Tim?

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 18 April 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

could we have a new three mile pilot album, pleeeeze?

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 18 April 2005 22:59 (twenty years ago)

No, what is the Tanner story?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Monday, 18 April 2005 23:03 (twenty years ago)

THREE MILE PILOT REUNION TOUR 2008.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 18 April 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

Tell me if this Fishwife/Tanner story towards the end of this thread rings a bell, I was trying to remember all the details but this is about as the best I could do:

Does anyone remember a live band where the lead singer popped out his glass eye, put it in his mouth, cornea side out, and crawled around on stage?

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 18 April 2005 23:15 (twenty years ago)

Wow, I didn't know about that. I didn't really know those guys. Saw Fishwife once, at least.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Monday, 18 April 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

are there any US cities with a strike rate as low as san diego?

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 05:11 (twenty years ago)

perhaps i should rephrase that,

are there anyus cities of a comparable size, that have fewer good bands?

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 05:12 (twenty years ago)

cincinatti's way worse.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 05:38 (twenty years ago)

jack cole (jackcole), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 05:45 (twenty years ago)

Is Houston worse?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 05:48 (twenty years ago)

No city that produced both Charalambides or Rusted Shut could be worse.

jack cole (jackcole), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 05:52 (twenty years ago)

not to mention zz motherfucking top.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 06:21 (twenty years ago)

New York and Los Angeles are probably the worst per capita.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

LA has NYC beat by a mile for crap per capita.

jack cole (jackcole), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 15:38 (twenty years ago)

gygax just put on his cincinatti uniform, over there, and broke san diegos hearts

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

Earthless (Isaiah Mitchell, Mike Eginton, Mario Rubalcaba) finally have an album out. It's on Gravity. And it's good. Kinda like Ash Ra Tempel's first + lots more gtr wank (that's kinda their thing).

the cheshire fucking cat (chëshy f cat), Monday, 16 May 2005 01:28 (twenty years ago)

hmmm, looks like the gravity site has a sample.

chëshy (chëshy f cat), Monday, 16 May 2005 02:05 (twenty years ago)

i don't hear the Ash Ra Tempel in that at all

Amon (eman), Monday, 16 May 2005 02:58 (twenty years ago)

ha ha. I KNEW someone was going to say that. If you listened to the whole album you might, but fuck it, draw your own comparisons.

sometime around 2003 there was a padres tv commercial advertising preseason ticket sales and it featured "pushed" by rocket from the crypt. always thought that was real cool. if tivo had existed then i would have tivoed it and put it on the you tubes.

let me add death crisis and the mexico city rollers to this list. i'm drinking arrogant bastard and listening to hot charity and really missing me some summertime san diego right about now.
