I will be quite drunk for the Sunday night Steelers/Browns game. Hopefully Zeus will be starting at QB for PITT.

I am going to pre-emptively say ALLY SHUT UP ABOUT THE GIANTS DESTROYING THE VIKINGS and thus fill in a good 90% of my contribution to Monday's discourse ahead of time.

Dan (I Hate Them But I Love Them) Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 9 November 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

hahaha sorry dude

So in my Survival League, I picked Chicago. In my fantasy league, I've got Kyle Orton starting in Drew Brees' open bye spot. I know it's only San Francisco and all, but should I really be putting all of my eggs into one Soldier Field?

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Thursday, 10 November 2005 18:21 (twenty years ago)

EVERYONE GOT THEIR PICK'EMS DONE

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Saturday, 12 November 2005 02:12 (twenty years ago)

Weeks like these are the ones that you find yourself going 8 and 8, as there are too many games that I think are too close to call.

My big upset this week is that I think Cleveland will knock off the Steelers.

earlnash, Sunday, 13 November 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

hahaha holy cow .. the wind in Chicago is so fierce today it just blew a chip-shot field goal attempt completely out of the TV picture frame. Unreal. Watch for this one on the highlight shows, it's hilarious.

I can't believe I'm actually sitting here debating about whether I should head down to the sports bar to watch the scintillating Detroit-Arizona tilt. they throw out the records, etc etc

This is seriously like the worst week so far. No good matchups at all. Although yeah I do think Pit-Cle could be interesting..

I'm on cloud nine. This must be what sippin' on purple sizzurp feels like.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Sunday, 13 November 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

I would've run the board on early game picks this week if it weren't for Minnesota. On the upside, everyone else in my pool had picked the Giants as well.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Sunday, 13 November 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

you'd have to be crazy not to have picked the giants, given this season and the fact that we've been utterly humiliated by the giants in recent years, plus look what they did to the redskins....games like this is why work pools are always run by like the nice, grandmotherly lady in accounting that just wants to be part of the fun and arbitrarily picks all her games!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Sunday, 13 November 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

RUN BY=WON BY oops

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Sunday, 13 November 2005 21:45 (twenty years ago)

Now that was a play right there.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Monday, 14 November 2005 03:27 (twenty years ago)

The Bucs and Washington game was one of the best I have seen all season. It was an old school shooting match and a bunch of fun to watch. I think it will be interesting to see how many more games like this Chris Simms has in his arm, as he threw some great passes today in the win.

I picked Atlanta to lose and Green Bay to win one week late. I believed with injuries and all that the Pack was not as bad as their record, they had lost most of their games by less than a TD. I also believe that Atlanta is one of the flukiest teams with a good record. The Falcons better step it up a notch, because their division is a whole lot more competitive this year. I think the ATL will be sitting home come playoff time, they will have a winning record but miss the post season.

the falcon's d needs to get it together, they're letting everyone run all over them, their d line looks a far cry from last year. they keep spotting early leads to opponents and then playing catchup - 2 of our 3 losses shoulda/woulda/coulda been wins but the defense damn near spots the other team two tds (more i think in seattle's case, i forget) from the getgo, they are not coming prepared to play and seriously lacking intensity, a big change from last year. that performance was fucking pathetic. two games against carolina left still and we can hardly count on 'vick has their number' and apparently chris simms is better than i gave him credit for so we need to take tampa seriously too. just a winning record would/should be a big enough deal (the falcons have NEVER had back-to-back winning seasons) and a sign at least that this is a 'new era' or some shit but seriously not making it to the second round of the playoffs, nevermind not making the playoffs, would/should be viewed as a serious disappointment. packers are better than their record but not much better, i've always thought their coach was a choad. btw VIKES-PACKERS on MNF next week - COLOR ME STOKED.

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 14 November 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

Cleveland looked like a good choice at least in the first quarter.

Charlie Batch looked much improved over last week, when he stunk but they won anyway. I suppose it took Batch a week to shake off the rust. He never could stay healthy in Detroit, but he looked good at times and I have to cheer for any MAC conference football player in the pros.

earlnash, Monday, 14 November 2005 18:39 (twenty years ago)

yeah, you had to feel bad for him getting injured .... *again*. I always did like him in Detroit and he really didn't get a fair shake by the Millen regime. who knows what could have happened if he could stay healthy consistently.

So there are what, four MAC starting QBs in the NFL now? Culpepper, Roethlisberger, Pennington, and Leftwich?

Stormy Davis (diamond), Monday, 14 November 2005 19:00 (twenty years ago)

I didn't see the second half, just the score this morning and didn't know that Batch got hurt again. Ouch.

The MAC QB's are taking a beating this year with Pennington and Culpepper gone for the year, Roethlisberger missing some games and Leftwich a bit gamey.
