I have the perfect wife— she considers Valentine’s Day to be a Hallmark holiday (which it is) and believes that any expenditure to be support of consumerism for the sake of consumerism and thusly wants nothing.

She also disdains jewelery and cut flowers. Come football season, she tells me that if I'm going to spend that much on football (Sunday Ticket), I’m going to watch football.

Of course, this means that when it’s time to actually buy her a gift, it better be good.

As I confessed in a different thread, I shall be making The Bloke breakfast in bed on Valentine's Day. I shall cut the toast into little heart shapes, and I have this heart-shaped metal cookie-cutter type thing which you put in a frying pan, so that when you crack an egg into it, it fries in a heart shape. I shall be doing that as well.

I have bought a small selection of the usual valentine's commercialised rubbish - a pair of boxer shorts which say something about him being hot stuff (this makes me laugh quite a lot, for some reason), a big heart-shaped slab of chocolate from Thornton's onto which I have iced a saucy message, a book of Purple Ronnie Lurve Poems, a CD he wanted (okay, Thin Lizzy is not romantic, but anyway), a coffee mug onto which I've had a photo of us printed (is anyone actually vomiting from all the tweeness of this yet?!) Bugger off, we're happy. :)

I'm cooking romantic-dinner-for-two-at-home. Deciding on menu tonight. I have a bottle of champagne in the fridge, but The Bloke does not drink champagne as it is far too girly, therefore I will probably end up sinking the whole bottle on Friday night and it'll all go downhill from there I expect. Last year we ended up chasing each other around the garden at midnight, having a waterbomb fight.

I realize we're still a few weeks away but I do most of my shopping online so I need to get on the ball.

I'm planning to get my guy some replacement floor mats for his truck. His are pretty wasted and I've contributed largely to that (full Coke spilled on driver's side) so I thought some new ones are in order. Is this the most unromantic thing ever? My other thought was this but figure the floor mats might be more appreciated.

I was also really drunk and took off my dress as soon as I got in the door, ate some dinner I'd brought home from the reception with my hands because I didn't have any cutlery and then passed out on top of the bed still in my bra/spanx. Oh there wasn't really stress on the day - it was a blast. We were up that late celebrating with friends many of whom came from far away and will most likely never all be in the same room ever again. It was pretty much the best party I've ever been to. We knew sexy time was never going to happen but didn't mind because we have plenty of time for that ;-).
