Formerly A circus or a seaside pier, a mongrel or a sheepfuxor

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 August 2004 06:42 (twenty years ago)

you can tell by the top bit where it says "816 older messages are hidden." or whathaveyou

gem (trisk), Monday, 23 August 2004 06:43 (twenty years ago)

It used to say on the new answers page (blah new answers, blahtyblah total). Now the total bits not there. Weird and annoying (I cant tell if its a big thread til I click on it)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 06:45 (twenty years ago)

You do the 'last 50 posts only' thing Trayce?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 August 2004 06:51 (twenty years ago)

I do, yeah but even so I like to know how big certain threads are... it seems that feature fell off with the new server maybe?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 06:55 (twenty years ago)

yeah but i only do the last 20 posts, and as soon as there is more than 20 it says "x messages are hidden" above the top one? is that what you mean?

gem (trisk), Monday, 23 August 2004 06:59 (twenty years ago)

sorry, i am dim. you mean before you even open the thread. bit of shush over here.

gem (trisk), Monday, 23 August 2004 07:01 (twenty years ago)

Ah, that's better.

I might have tomorrow night free after all.

Barry Manilow, Monday, 23 August 2004 09:07 (twenty years ago)

GAH they just told us we have to have this thing finished and handed in IN TWO HOURS. Last week we had until Wednesday. Fuck this subject for a joke.

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:20 (twenty years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:26 (twenty years ago)

I was making a blackadder joke, nm ;)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:27 (twenty years ago)

Ah, I miss that show. I especially liked Queenie.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:28 (twenty years ago)

i have always wondered what these threads were about, can someone summarise them in 20 words or less please?

jed_ (jed), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:30 (twenty years ago)

antipodean banter

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:30 (twenty years ago)

ok, cheers.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:31 (twenty years ago)

Yeah we just talk crap, and anyones welcome but it might confuse you if the Aussie references go over yr head.

Speaking of which OMG did anyone see Neighbours last night? Harold's drooling mononlogue about lingerie and rubber and PVC!!! WTF...

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:32 (twenty years ago)

hahahah that was classic!! whoever wrote that is a genius

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:33 (twenty years ago)

Holy crap, seriously?! Hmm, he shoulda been at that wedding I went to on the weekend. Can you give more detail?

Yes jed, pop in from time to time, all are welcome!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:35 (twenty years ago)

Im serious! I couldnt believe I was watching Neighbours for a moment. The laydeez were all having one of those lingerie parties, you know, the Tupperware style ones. And then it cuts to this scene of Harold standing in the culdesac staring wistfully at them all thru the window (!!! but you couldnt see in). One of those other guys whos new and I cant remember his name, comes out to take out his bin and hes like "uhh... interested eh Harold?" being kind of teasing about it..

BUT NO! Harold then goes on for about 5 minutes about negligees and microfibre and seethru materials... and then he starts talking about PVC and rubber and corsets! Almost fell off me chair. Laughing that is.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:43 (twenty years ago)

Hahaha I'm sorry I missed that! The writers have a lot of fun with Harold don't they? I remember a very silly couple of episodes where he took up the tuba.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 23 August 2004 23:53 (twenty years ago)

I had to type that last phrase very carefully.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:15 (twenty years ago)

and you still left out an "it"

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:22 (twenty years ago)

now i have the image of gaz taking it up the tuba

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:23 (twenty years ago)

I got the 'please please please stop' thing.

FAPage? Yes please.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:26 (twenty years ago)

we are so alike. did you know my full name is garold?

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:28 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I knew you'd get it Adam.

Well lookit. I think I might go to Pause after work just like, anyway, and if anyone happens to be there also, then they will be subjected to me. Muahah. Wait that sounds bad.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:30 (twenty years ago)

Aha. What time?

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:31 (twenty years ago)

I want to write for Neighbours. Pays very well you know (10k an episode I think). V V hard to get an inroad writing the eps tho.

Didnt someone here say whoever plays Harold writes some of the Neighbours shows?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:32 (twenty years ago)

i like the way there are two very distinctly separate conversations going on here

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:32 (twenty years ago)

argh xpost.

Um... I can be there by 6, I'm thinking. (good excuse to bugger off early, heh)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:32 (twenty years ago)

It's like a conversation between four or five people at a cafe which suddenly splits into two separate ones between two or three people.

It must be fun playing Harold.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:34 (twenty years ago)

6 suits me. :)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:49 (twenty years ago)

Harold is Ian Smith, who's script editor or something. He's also a proper playwright.

How do I know that? I don't even watch fakkin Neighbours.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:51 (twenty years ago)

multi talented harold

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:57 (twenty years ago)

The man with the golden valve.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 00:58 (twenty years ago)

Argh the visuals! Make them stop.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:02 (twenty years ago)

Hahahahaha!! I just got threatened by a customer. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO SACK ME??

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:04 (twenty years ago)

Er well, they *could* not give you yr payout dude ;P

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:05 (twenty years ago)

But hell who cares, tell them what for!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:05 (twenty years ago)

He threatened me over something that's nothing to do with me. I just said I'd get it sorted out. Blah, whenever.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:07 (twenty years ago)

threatened??? like, said he was gonna break your legs?

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:08 (twenty years ago)

"Yes sir, I am filing your complaint sir" *shove paper into shredder*

Haha gaz you think thats bad, we've had clients threaten to rip staff a new a-hole (in those words), one girl once had a guy say "I'm not speaking to a GIRL, put a man on" when she answered... Ive had people swear and scream abuse at me (and then it turned out the problem was their fault... HA!)

Ah, helpdesks.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:10 (twenty years ago)

He just said he was going to go to management if I didn't get something fixed, 'and you don't want that.' Like fuck I don't.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:10 (twenty years ago)

In fact, if he went to management, this company would get a taste of just how pissed off all our customers are.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:10 (twenty years ago)

Damn right there. I think management/CEOs dont know ANYWHERE NEAR enough about what really goes on in their companies. Its why things like the OneTel collapse was able to happen at all.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:12 (twenty years ago)

And on that note, I am going in search of lunch. Yum.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:13 (twenty years ago)

Tell your customer to take it up the ombudsman.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:14 (twenty years ago)

take it up the ombudsman

Typo of the century.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:18 (twenty years ago)

I dont think he did that by accident ;)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:19 (twenty years ago)

tell him to make like harold.

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:19 (twenty years ago)

FAP will be quick, I'll have to take off around 7. Argh everything's all over the place atm.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:22 (twenty years ago)

I'm very tense right now. I need a neck rub. And a million dollars.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:27 (twenty years ago)

Adam if you got other things on, its all good, we can do it some other day. I hate to make people feel rushed!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:32 (twenty years ago)

Might be a good idea actually. That okay?

Sorry, I hate pulling out at short notice. But then we only decided to do it half an hour ago, so it's not so bad I guess.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:34 (twenty years ago)

*sigh* they are so alike...

heres a hypothetical: if you were in a meeting and someone said something about someone who was absent and that thing was not strictly true but was a kind of slap down of that person and you thought that was a good thing but also the person saying it was a prick would you speak up?

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:35 (twenty years ago)

You two pikers shall never meet (haha x-post)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:35 (twenty years ago)

Depends on the prickfulness of the abselt person.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:36 (twenty years ago)

That's quite a complicated hypothetical gaz. So let me see if I understtod: a boofhead says something untrue about another boofhead?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:36 (twenty years ago)

Adam: its all cool :)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:37 (twenty years ago)

yes, basically. but it involves a non-boofhead (me) supporting or denying it.

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:37 (twenty years ago)

In such situs gaz I usually just keep stumm.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:38 (twenty years ago)

Aha. That's a thorny one. I mean, you don't want a prick constantly in your ear.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:39 (twenty years ago)

What is wrong with me today? I am a one man Carry On movie.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:40 (twenty years ago)

I think Trayce is right, keep stum.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:40 (twenty years ago)

fuck i hate politics.

i am off to a seminar. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:41 (twenty years ago)

Staying awake in seminars is the closest thing to impossible I have ever seen.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:43 (twenty years ago)

i am off to the sunshine. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:43 (twenty years ago)

Strongest urge to play videogames. Sooo wish I didn't have to study for this test.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:43 (twenty years ago)

Aw man I was all hyped up to going for a nice drink after work... now Ima just go home and be bored! ;(

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:48 (twenty years ago)

Sorry.

Think I'm too tired to hit the booze anyway. I didn't sleep at all last night, and now everything's spinning.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:58 (twenty years ago)

i am sick to death of snow.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 01:58 (twenty years ago)

Its still snowing there?! God its sunny and 18 here... lovely day.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:04 (twenty years ago)

So, ferfuxsake, whats a girl gotta do around here to get all you FAPpers together in one room on the same day?

Are you all just avoiding me and making excuses? *sniff sob pout*

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:24 (twenty years ago)

Next week?

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:26 (twenty years ago)

God, I don't even know what I'm doing next week.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:26 (twenty years ago)

*Primly* Well I think our Trayce has learned a little lesson from Mrs Doasyouwouldbedoneby, don't you?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:27 (twenty years ago)

i love the word "prim"

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:28 (twenty years ago)

I dunno, I'd love to Fap. I need a drink.

My boss just called me in to his office to see if I was alright, because apparently I've been skulking around like the Sandman these last couple of weeks.

I DON'T EVEN KNOW I'M DOING IT. NOTHING IS WRONG!

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:29 (twenty years ago)

*Primly* Well I think our Trayce has learned a little lesson from Mrs Doasyouwouldbedoneby, don't you?

Ahaha, you arsehole. :)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:31 (twenty years ago)

Yeah wtf!!?! Humf. *gets cross*

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:32 (twenty years ago)

I'm not normally a pikelet, if that helps.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:32 (twenty years ago)

Anyway Col you were only here for one night - and I happened to get sick dammit! Its not like I couldve rescheduled for the nexy day!

Now if anyone brings up piking around me again.. ILL GO YER!

I'm suddenly in a rather not as nice mood.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:33 (twenty years ago)

Hahah whoops xpost ;)

You're not? Not once so far has anyones suggested FAPtime resulted in you showing anywhere, mister ;P

(I know youre flat out, I'm just ribbing hehe)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:34 (twenty years ago)

most of my friends pike on me these days, it's difficult not to feel like the common denominator. i didn't think i was that boring and unpleasant :(

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:36 (twenty years ago)

I'm a notorious piker, I don't mean to, but the shit seems to hit the fan whenever I really need a night out.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:41 (twenty years ago)

I'm sorry Ms T, I have a reputation for being somewhat of a pikelet myself if the truth be told.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:41 (twenty years ago)

Jim - last time we went out for a drink you seemed really bored or tired or something! Maybe I was just wired up I dunno, but I felt like I was boring the pants off ya.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:43 (twenty years ago)

I just declared a manifesto on my LJ. They're all in trouble now. ALL OF THEM.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:44 (twenty years ago)

hehe nice prophesying Oracle Trayce.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:44 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:46 (twenty years ago)

You're not? Not once so far has anyones suggested FAPtime resulted in you showing anywhere, mister ;P

Just wait until summer, I'll FAP you all to death.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:48 (twenty years ago)

That came out wrong.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:48 (twenty years ago)

hihihi!

Janne Karlsson, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:50 (twenty years ago)

trayce i was ok, i probably felt a bit out of place among your friends, not their fault though 'cause they're lovely people. i probably was just in a funny mood.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:51 (twenty years ago)

That came out wrong.

Oh, it so did not.

Ahem. Uhh... what?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:51 (twenty years ago)

Jim: its ok! I was worried about you, truth be told :) and yeah I am sorry so many other people rocked up, I didnt really want them all to but eh :/

God, that oracle thing is making me wee myself laughing.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:52 (twenty years ago)

Yes, it's taking the edge off the day a bit.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:53 (twenty years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 04:06 (twenty years ago)

Work's sending me mad. MAD I TELL YOU.

WTF!?

ARGH. Im working too hard :(

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 04:21 (twenty years ago)

Surely not.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 04:23 (twenty years ago)

Donnie Sharko! Ahahah! You da man.

God I'm fed up with work. Can I go home now?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 04:46 (twenty years ago)

I know how you feel. Gotta get out of here, but I go home and then what...? No money.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 04:47 (twenty years ago)

I have 5 ciders at home, of which I can imbibe. In fact I wish I could leave now, its such a lovely day here I'd siton the balcony with a book.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 04:48 (twenty years ago)

I AM AT HOME DRINKING PORT.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 04:58 (twenty years ago)

That... was a little bit only-child. Sorry.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:00 (twenty years ago)

You're an only child? I knew it! ;P (kidding).

Port? BLEUAGGH you old man.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:02 (twenty years ago)

(OMG Trayce in not liking something Adam likes, shockah)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:02 (twenty years ago)

There's nothing else, just beer [the smell of which 'er indoors hates] and wine in bottles.

I'm doing a personality questionnaire in order to attend a week-long careers course. I'm only on page 1 and already the questions are stupid.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:05 (twenty years ago)

Plus I like port PORT IS MY GOD so you can cram it missy.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:07 (twenty years ago)

what sort of questions are they almy?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:08 (twenty years ago)

Oh I hate that "drink whatever's about" thing, found me drinking peach schnapps diluted with water on the weekend, it did. Nick was most pissed off I'd finished off his schnapps, haha. Whoops.

I cannae drink beer. I tried, I really did - but it tastes, as my friend Moo would say, like wee. I stick to cider and white wine for the most. I like gin though.

God personality surveys suck! Apparently some people here at work are being made to do personality profiling... its all very WTF, but our team hasnt been asked, though I suppose its because we all got fired haha.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:08 (twenty years ago)

I can cram it? ooer.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:08 (twenty years ago)

what sort of questions are they almy?

'Most people...'

I have to say what most people are like. Are they tired easily, do they prefer accuracy over expediency, &c. It goes on and on.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:09 (twenty years ago)

Huh? "most people"? How very stupid Donnie Darko's teacher question.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:11 (twenty years ago)

they're after you're prejudices I suppose?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:12 (twenty years ago)

Tell the test to shove its fear/love lifeline up its anus.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:12 (twenty years ago)

Ah, I forgot about the butterscotch schnapps or whatever. And all the spirits and liqueurs.

Somehow I feel less guilty drinking port in broad daylight on a weekday.

xpost: Yeah, I guess so. How I feel the world operates. I'm going for NF Nazi ranking.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:13 (twenty years ago)

i'm now wondering if I shouldnt just go to Pause or Syrup or something a little later this afternoon anyhow.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:18 (twenty years ago)

Q110! They're phrasing the same questions in different ways now. CAN'T CATCH ME OUT YOU FREAKY PSYCHOLOGISTS.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:18 (twenty years ago)

Now it's asking me exactly the same questions, but applying them to me.

So you're right Col, it's the discrepancy between how about I feel about others and myself.

I want a big word to describe how I feel about this but I can't think of one.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:22 (twenty years ago)

TURDY

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:29 (twenty years ago)

BIG. Like surrepgarrifluous.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:30 (twenty years ago)

floccinaucinihilipilification

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:31 (twenty years ago)

bollix?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:31 (twenty years ago)

after all, you are saying the survey is essentially worthless

(xpost)

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:31 (twenty years ago)

Indefatigable?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:31 (twenty years ago)

(as in, the damn thing never ends... har!)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:32 (twenty years ago)

I've got it! 'Pants'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:33 (twenty years ago)

Turgid, perhaps. Not exactly a big word though, innit.

Given my inability to come up with a large word, I hereby render myself superfluous to ILX.

xpost: haha pants

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:34 (twenty years ago)

Pants solve everything.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:35 (twenty years ago)

except rooting

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:37 (twenty years ago)

Disingenuous?

AHAAA!

Invidious
Egregious
Odious

I think this is the right word family, if not exactly the right word.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:37 (twenty years ago)

My pants solve the vexing puzzle of where to store my enormous plonker.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:37 (twenty years ago)

Vexing! VEXING! That's the word.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:38 (twenty years ago)

This is a egregiously vexatious personality test, m'lud.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:39 (twenty years ago)

Vexing! VEXING! That's the word.

Gordon Bennett, so it is.

I owe that Adam guy a handjob or something.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:40 (twenty years ago)

*Coyly* I was the one who picked up on it.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:41 (twenty years ago)

Anybody know whether this weather's gonna stick around?

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:44 (twenty years ago)

Fine, here's yer fucking handjob. Lie back and arch your pelvis. QUICKLY ffs, I'm a busy man.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:44 (twenty years ago)

Blimey am I sure I wanna FAP with you!?!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:46 (twenty years ago)

DISCLAIMER: I don't perform handjobs on most people I don't know.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:48 (twenty years ago)

Weirdest mood evar today. Having instantly come out of a years-long depression I'm a bit confused as to how I should feel.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:48 (twenty years ago)

firmly and consistently

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:50 (twenty years ago)

I'm just sitting here giggling like a tard. My adjacent workmate just went home. In disgust, probably.

Pity we cant all meet up today in this mood, it'd be amusing heh.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:51 (twenty years ago)

Reckon. However, still three more tests to do, and they've got to be done tonight so I can do this course.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:52 (twenty years ago)

Sucks to be you, then ;P

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:54 (twenty years ago)

(god I'm horrible arent I? heh)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:54 (twenty years ago)

Weirdest mood evar today. Having instantly come out of a years-long depression I'm a bit confused as to how I should feel.

Been dealing with that a bit lately myself.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:55 (twenty years ago)

I'm in a strange "not depressed, quite bouncy in fact, but letting my life dribble out my shoe" sort of state lately. s'not good. I do NOTHING! Im a slack fucker.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:59 (twenty years ago)

That's interesting - you've both been down for a while, and now that mood has cleared, and you're in a good mood thinking, 'hmm, this is a strange feeling'?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:05 (twenty years ago)

Yep. It really has been years.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:06 (twenty years ago)

That must be quite a strange and exhilarating feeling.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:08 (twenty years ago)

I come and go out of good and down moods. Not doin' too bad of late... Ive got used to the rollercoaster, in a way.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:09 (twenty years ago)

Winter + Melbourne = 3 months of Depression. Or Something. For Me.

Now that Spring is coming I feel like I have more mental fortitude or something.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:09 (twenty years ago)

No-one gets depression in Sydney.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:10 (twenty years ago)

Hey thats it Mikey! Its the weather innit. Well it is for me. For Adam its his work thing, I'm pretty sure ;)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:11 (twenty years ago)

Ive got used to the rollercoaster, in a way.

That's where it gets fucking scary. Complacency about depression is a right shitter up the anus.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:11 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, my work thing. My EX-work thing.

Still hasn't hit me yet. Probably won't for days.

Today someone at work said 'you're smiling! You must have been made redundant'

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:11 (twenty years ago)

But yeah winter really gets me in a hole badly.

xpost: oh no no no, I am not complacent about depression. But erm.. I am accepting of it... its different. I dunno. Maybe I am complacent about it. Arse.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:12 (twenty years ago)

So should I go to Pause, or not? Hrm. About to leave work... and not... sure...

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:13 (twenty years ago)

Take a book.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:15 (twenty years ago)

oh no no no, I am not complacent about depression. But erm.. I am accepting of it

That's what I meant. Being used to depression; accepting it as a normal state.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:16 (twenty years ago)

Happy good shit for feeling better Adam!

Yeah, Trayce, there's still crap in all directions that I gotta keep track of, but having a sunny day outside is making it so much easier.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:18 (twenty years ago)

Whelp bugger this, I'm off home, I think I'll do some writing at home instead of out, cheaper that way! Listen to some music mebbe.

Bring on the sunlight and warmer days and so on in that fashion!

(until everyone is eaten)

Later ya spastics :D

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:23 (twenty years ago)

later.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:24 (twenty years ago)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 06:24 (twenty years ago)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 20:30 (twenty years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 21:35 (twenty years ago)

What, you again?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 21:35 (twenty years ago)

Morning all! Lookin' like itll be a gorgeous sunny 20+ degrees day today. I wish there were a quiet outdoors spot I could go sit at lunchtime... wrking in Richmond sucks, stupid factories.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 21:44 (twenty years ago)

And last night there were a spectacular sunset over the cemetary across the road so I took a pic as I was passing by:

http://people.connect.net.au/~trace/cemetarysunset.jpg

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 21:49 (twenty years ago)

That's lush.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 21:51 (twenty years ago)

Its a lovely little old cemetary, the St Kilda one... I live just down the road from it. That huge tree is nice to sit under, its suprisingly peaceful in the grounds (considering its bordered on four sides by busy roads).

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 22:06 (twenty years ago)

Gorgeous photo.

Yeah, that cemetery's awesome.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 22:42 (twenty years ago)

Not that you're a goth or anything, Trayce, but you just took a photo of a cemetary.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 22:54 (twenty years ago)

hahahaha

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 22:56 (twenty years ago)

Holy fuck yes!

Its a lovely little old cemetary

Before we know it she'll be looking glum at a Sisters of Mercy gig and purchasing fake nose rings.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 22:58 (twenty years ago)

*cries*

I was taking a photo of a sunset, you barstools!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:03 (twenty years ago)

*soothingly* Of course, Trayce, of course you were. A sunset. In a cemetary.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:04 (twenty years ago)

Darkness enveloping the world.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:07 (twenty years ago)

I LOVE YOUSE GUYS

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:09 (twenty years ago)

Dudes I have a red and white Pucca tshirt on and a pair of jeans, I'm about as goth as Avril today.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:10 (twenty years ago)

A lone tree, bereft of life, emerging solemnly from sacred ground where the dead doth walk in perpetuity.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:10 (twenty years ago)

I'm about as goth as Avril today.

Oh, so you're a tryhard goth.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:11 (twenty years ago)

babygoff!

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:12 (twenty years ago)

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:12 (twenty years ago)

Hahahah. FUckin stop pwning me ya cun's!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:13 (twenty years ago)

You two are so being punched in the arm when we next FAP.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:14 (twenty years ago)

You two are so being punched in the arm when we next FAP.

Outward direction of angst. The consumption of alcohol in a public place is archetypal of the goth's extroverted expression of sorrow.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:16 (twenty years ago)

Sigh

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:20 (twenty years ago)

Ahahahaha

Col [or anyone], how do you do the 'last 50 posts only' thing? I can't find it in settings.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:22 (twenty years ago)

That's such a tragic little cartoon!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:23 (twenty years ago)

On the 'Settings' page:

Thread Pages-Show Messages

Select 'last 50 posts'

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:24 (twenty years ago)

Ad: its a dropdown thing with "show messages" next to it.

Col: that there is Johnny the Homicidal Maniac by Jhonen Vasquez (the guy that went on to do the tremendously irritating INvader Zim). It is actually a rather sad story - I mean he's this horrible psycho who cuts up people who wronged him but you actually feel sorry for him too cuz he's so ... sad and empty of feeling.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:25 (twenty years ago)

Also, he reminds me so much of my friend Michael who is cool and I miss him loads.
(um, MJ does not cut people up though, heh)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:26 (twenty years ago)

Ah excellent, thanks heaps Col/Trayce.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:27 (twenty years ago)

So I brought my camera with me again today - I'm thinking I'll keep it on me all the time, so I can get those shots I'm constantly thinking "dammit I wish I had my camera with me" about. I really want to get back into some art things. Might buy a new Wacom tablet as well, and do some digital painting (the old Wacom is kinda crap and needs a plug in power supply!)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:35 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, never abandon your art or you will go mad with boredom and frustration like 90% of the population.

Trayce, this label may be putting out some of my music next year and they're uberswanky goth:

http://latexrecords.com/

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:36 (twenty years ago)

did you remove the gutteral vocals?

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:37 (twenty years ago)

Col - cool stuff! I mean really, modern goth is just EBM/techno/electro tarted up with a gloomy worldview and deeper vocals, innit.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:41 (twenty years ago)

nope! actually the gutteral vocals are a point of issue, but we've decided if they don't like that stuff they'll take some of my sweeter stuff instead. But I think they'll come round when they hear the whole album. A local label has expressed an interest in the black metal electro anyway so there's always that option. Juggling juggling, always juggling...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:42 (twenty years ago)

(last post a x-post)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:42 (twenty years ago)

Yes Trayce, definitely.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 23:42 (twenty years ago)

Every time I see the thread title I am reminded of The Bureau:

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:09 (twenty years ago)

we wrote three songs for the third tuggers album last night. two sound like the durutti column and the third is in 5/4

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:11 (twenty years ago)

Nice work, three in one night!!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:11 (twenty years ago)

making up for lost time. we have six leftover from the last one so it won't take long to have a whole album.

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:12 (twenty years ago)

Ooh Durutti Column influences? Sounds orright, that!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:14 (twenty years ago)

we're quite likely going to record this one with the dude from m4chine tr4nslations

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:15 (twenty years ago)

Noice :)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:17 (twenty years ago)

So when is this second album coming out again?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:17 (twenty years ago)

2006

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:18 (twenty years ago)

er, i mean when i can find a record label to put it out. i suppose i should start looking?

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:19 (twenty years ago)

Couldn't hurt.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:19 (twenty years ago)

Jim I know someone who is v good friends with the Candle people... dunno if thats any help at all?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:20 (twenty years ago)

given ned's description maybe you should go to modern invasion?

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:21 (twenty years ago)

they could put a good word in! i'll probably approach mr. candle directly and see what sort of response or lack thereof i get..

xpost haha gaz!

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:22 (twenty years ago)

Fuck! I just signed off an email to a work colleage as "Tract".

How stupid of me.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:27 (twenty years ago)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:28 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 00:30 (twenty years ago)

Hahah omg that "wheres the other plane you bastards" thread is KILLING ME... *wheeze giggle*

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 01:09 (twenty years ago)

I CAN'T FIND MY MORROWIND NOTEBOOK. THIS SEEMINGLY MINOR FACTOID IS MAKING ME ANGRY.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 01:17 (twenty years ago)

D'you know, for years I was convinced that game was called "Morrowmind". And then I referred to it as such to Nick a few weeks ago and he fell over laughing at me *pout*.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 01:20 (twenty years ago)

Ooh that reminds me, Sims 2 should be out in a week or two, it just went gold. I bet my PC wont be able to play it though.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 01:21 (twenty years ago)

I used to be horribly addicted to Morrowind.

Damn, I can't remember when I last had more than an hour to play video games. I'm gonna go crazy banana f**k when San Andreas comes out.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 03:34 (twenty years ago)

So am I, but in the other direction.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 03:37 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if HL2 will ever actually come out?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 03:40 (twenty years ago)

Dunno, but Fable's just gone gold somewhere.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 03:44 (twenty years ago)

Im now going to embarrass myself by admitting that until 2 days ago I didnt realise what the phrase "gone gold" meant. Nick read that abt Sims2 and I said "how can it have gone gold already, it isnt even out yet!". At least he didnt laugh and point at me.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 04:48 (twenty years ago)

PROOF I AM NOT GAM3R N3RD U SEE.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 04:49 (twenty years ago)

Well i know what going for the gold means because I have been told but here you will have see me ignorant again.

Sami Jherllykanyga, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 04:51 (twenty years ago)

Going gold in game release terminology means the gold master pressing of the CD/DVD has been made - indicating its v close to release date.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 04:54 (twenty years ago)

i didn't know it meant that either, it means very different things in the music world

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 05:00 (twenty years ago)

i think i'd almost be more embarrassed to admit i *did* know what it meant

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 05:00 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I was thinking of going gold in music terms (=selling a certain amount). Eh.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 05:02 (twenty years ago)

Man, how can someone hate the GTA series?

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 07:08 (twenty years ago)

He only thinks he does, he'll be playing it in due time I'd imagine. ;)

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 10:24 (twenty years ago)

It just seems... inhuman to not relish the opportunity to be given a wide variety of vehicles and weaponary and be unleashed on a major metropolis.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 10:42 (twenty years ago)

Three major metropoli! Vegas, LA and San Fran - shoot gangstas, hippies AND high-rollers! I can't wait, meself.

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 11:36 (twenty years ago)

Hmmm, look where I've wandered into. Are there many Perthites/Perthians/etc. in the hizzy? My girlfriend is going there for a couple weeks in Nov. to visit some online friends, thought I'd ask for some hot tips.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 18:07 (twenty years ago)

Man, how can someone hate the GTA series?

The series was excellent until the fucking homies turned up.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 20:38 (twenty years ago)

I'm on hols today. Hayden, where are you from?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 21:22 (twenty years ago)

I'm another Melbournite (northern 'burbs).

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 22:33 (twenty years ago)

Speaking of Melbournites, anyone up for a drinkie today after work? Or is everyone otherwise occupied? If y'all are I might go get a haircut or something.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:15 (twenty years ago)

i r occupied 2nite. you of course would be welcome but it'll be at rob roy and not til after 7ish..

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:21 (twenty years ago)

Well its tempting actually... but I'm not sure wot I'm doing, I get paid tonite so Im thinking I might get a totally new 'do. Im bored with my hair.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:30 (twenty years ago)

i cut my hair last night, i don't think i look better but it's less of a hassle when it's newly shorn

i just catalogued a chinese encyclopedia. how weird: vol.1 a-k, vol.2 l-w, vol.3 x-z.

Adam, San Andreas is gonna refer to an entire state, not a single city.

You got Los Santos, which is an analogue for Los Angeles - this is where your 'homies' will be...

...BUT...

...you have Las Venturras, substituting for Las Vegas, which is gonna look like Scorcese's Casino, mob killings and all...

....AND...

...San Fierra, standing in for San Francisco, with a lot of drugrunning and angry chinese madness.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:57 (twenty years ago)

I have to admit, it sounds like a mental cross btwn SimCity and GTA, with the hugeness n'all.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:58 (twenty years ago)

In a good way that is!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:59 (twenty years ago)

Heres the kind of thing I want (this womans pulling a stoopid face tho), only maybe a bit longer at the back... I dont know if this img will work, I think remote linking might knacker it.

Tonight's out for me.

Okay, so San Andreas sounds a bit better on that basis. Looked well-homie the first time I saw stuff about it.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 26 August 2004 00:27 (twenty years ago)

I figured tonite was out for everyone. Its just this weather, I'm all feeling really energised and with it for once in my bloody life... weird.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 August 2004 00:53 (twenty years ago)

Ace innit! Winter has the most horrible effect on people. This week's been brilliant, and has accurately reflected my mood.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 26 August 2004 00:58 (twenty years ago)

i think that haircut will look great on you trayce.

I just ate half a chicken. I am really full now. Urggh.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:21 (twenty years ago)

what happened to the other half?

my favourite meal whilst recording was the half chicken and chips + a sixpack of coopers sparkling. mmmm, unhealthy

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:34 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:38 (twenty years ago)

after my public transport experience this morning my long-held plan to purchase a bicycle and start riding to work is going to come to fruition the second i can afford a bike.

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:44 (twenty years ago)

Heh... what happened? Im a bit miffed theyve brought the shitty old W class trams back onto the chapel st line... those things run like snails. Grr... takes an extra 5-10 mins to get to work now :(

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:46 (twenty years ago)

a half hour wait. at the acland st tram interchange. fucking ludicrous

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:48 (twenty years ago)

this i fear

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:55 (twenty years ago)

Yeah the bike "lanes" here are shitful and no one has respeck for cyclists at all. I grew up used to dedicated bike paths and stuff, so I dont much like the idea of riding in traffic.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:56 (twenty years ago)

i ride through the perth cbd all the time. of course it is much easier to navigate than most other cbds, being smaller and newer and all, and it took a little getting used to. but the traffic doesn't worry me a bit, the odd time there is a wanker but you get that in cars and on foot too.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 26 August 2004 02:59 (twenty years ago)

i guess the image of me, splashed across the road or wobbling & terrified, appeals to them.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 26 August 2004 03:06 (twenty years ago)

*pictures drivers splatting gaz and laughing maniacally*

gem (trisk), Thursday, 26 August 2004 03:07 (twenty years ago)

do you have a lot of bike couriers? my theory is that drivers are accustomed to bike couriers here being so reckless that the drivers are a bit wary of trying to run down any cyclists at all.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 26 August 2004 03:09 (twenty years ago)

we have many but mostly just in the CBD

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 26 August 2004 03:13 (twenty years ago)

I saw one hanging off the back of a tram once, going up the steep hill bit of Collins street.

Tram driver leaned out and yelled at him to let go - guy wouldnt. Tram driver then proceeded to slam on the brakes, causing cyclist to faceplant into the back of the tram.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 August 2004 03:15 (twenty years ago)

*throws around stereotypes willynilly* i think breathing all the traffic fumes all day gives bike couriers brain damage, they all seem a bit tapped. they give other cyclists a bad name.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 26 August 2004 03:17 (twenty years ago)

Haha... thinking of the one person I know whos currently a bike courier, I would very strongly agree *evil grin, mutters abt certain arrogant twat under breath*

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Thursday, 26 August 2004 04:57 (twenty years ago)

Bike twat did indeed, Mikey, he was that person I had the livid screaming rant about because he "threatened" to "insult" me over my choice of pharmaceuticals. I took the cun' off my LJ friendslist. I've since found out he's a rude little shit thru other friends as well.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 August 2004 05:03 (twenty years ago)

So hey is anyone up for shiznat tomorrow evening? Did I already ask this? Man what a day.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 August 2004 05:04 (twenty years ago)

the concept of threatening to insult somebody is bizarre bizarre bizarre

purple patch (electricsound), Thursday, 26 August 2004 05:04 (twenty years ago)

I know! Why he didnt just say "Trayce you are a twat, I dont wanna read about your drug habits STFU and take me off yr friendslist" I dont know. Instead it was "if you dont X, I will insult you". Uh... okey dokey.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 26 August 2004 05:07 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah, i think i met him for real a couple of times. knew a lot of those chumpy rpg motherfuckers at uni that basically ran the vce summer school that i taught at.

Not normally nah. I just bent down and zoomed in as far as possible, and the light was reasonably good. If I get a new camera I'd love to get a macro lens for it.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 27 August 2004 02:26 (twenty years ago)

what iso/aperture/shutter speed did you use? i'm still learnding

purple patch (electricsound), Friday, 27 August 2004 02:28 (twenty years ago)

oooer... I cant remember. Damn digital cameras, if I had the original unedited shot here it might have that in the info file thingy. Probably 200asa fairly slow speed (30-60ms?), but it could have been on auto. the apeture settings on my kodak are a bit weirdy. Sorry I'm so vague about it! It doesnt work like a standard SLR. Hence me wanting a new cam, an EOS300D I think. Mmmmm...

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 27 August 2004 02:54 (twenty years ago)

Just stressful here at the schoolhouse and at home - there's plenty going on everywhere and I'm a little burnt out. I've suffered from depression in the past and I'm really feeling twinges of it now. It manifests itself more as exhaustion and a disconnectedness, rather than feeling sad this time.

oookay. WTF has Andrew done to the IMG code, that a pic I posted succesfully on another thread on friday now wont post? ANNOYING.

I woke up in such a nice rested mood and then there were NO TRAMS for over HALF AN HOUR and the tram that did come was a shitty old W class one and it went really slow then the driver decided he would never make his time so he made us all get out at Swan street and wait for the tram behind. FUCK.ERS.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 29 August 2004 23:58 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 29 August 2004 23:59 (twenty years ago)

Dodgy indeed Jim - is that even kosher, the way trams just give up and turn back for the depot 5 stops early half the time, when theyre late? It seems wrong somehow - oh, we cant run late to the timetable but never fucking mind if the people ON the tram run late for their jobs... RAAAARGH! Hulk smash.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:00 (twenty years ago)

i've watched trams stop and turn around before they get to a stop and not pick anyone up - this happens quite often at the acland st exchange..

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:01 (twenty years ago)

Yeah its cos theyre running late, but Im not sure they are supposed to do this.

What annoys me is, its quite clear the W class trams run slower, break down more and can easily lose the stick off the overhead wires all the time - and yet despite bringing in a ton of them on Chapel st, they havent adjusted the timetable to suit.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:03 (twenty years ago)

I used to work with someone who had a similar thing done and it looked really smart and swish except she hated it and there was much disappointment when she had it cut again.

My weekend was great. I won $100 hooray!

Also, what Jim said. Um er... or something.

I dont even like bourbon!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 August 2004 03:58 (twenty years ago)

jim, I have personally drunk boob scotch at a Bob Log gig.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:10 (twenty years ago)

Was it smoother, sweeter, more delicious than regular scotch? Or was it my imagination?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:11 (twenty years ago)

it's a proven fact that boob scotch is superior to non-boob scotch.

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:14 (twenty years ago)

i hate those booby cougar ads, particularly the one where they all get a slice of lemon. embodies the worst kind of yobbishness.

p.s. - what is boob scotch, does that just mean cougar or is it something more sinister?

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:15 (twenty years ago)

I agree gem!

I think boob scotch has something to do with boobage dipped therein.. ew.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:17 (twenty years ago)

i see. yes, ew. i don't think i would really want someone to be dipping any of their bodyparts into my drink personally. but different strokes etc!!

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:19 (twenty years ago)

"he idea of a Boob Scotch is pretty simple - Bob Log orders a scotch on the rocks - he actually got two, this time - and he invites one of the girls in attendance to dip her boob in the scotch. Boob in scotch = Boob Scotch."

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:20 (twenty years ago)

is that the girl's dedicated role? does bob log have a boobscotchgirl in his entourage?

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:21 (twenty years ago)

does she have very saggy boobs? how does she manage this feat? does she just whip it out of her bra etc or is there some stripping also involved?

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:22 (twenty years ago)

Maybe theyre really large glasses. Or small tits.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:24 (twenty years ago)

i think it's always audience members. standard mixed spirits glasses are fairly small usually aren't they? i haven't actually witnessed the scotch boobing myself, i think colin needs to weigh in here

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:26 (twenty years ago)

see that's where i get confused, mine are pretty small but i don't really see how i could "dip" one into a glass of scotch. unless it was really really full? or is it scotch-and-mixer? cause that would be kinda sticky.

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:26 (twenty years ago)

Maybe thats the idea? =)

Or maybe the ice gives nipplage!

(is that a word? IT IS NOW!)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:27 (twenty years ago)

neat scotch. couldn't you just lean forward though?

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:28 (twenty years ago)

even if i leaned forward, i honestly don't think i would be able to dip one in a glass of neat scotch. unless maybe it was a shooter glass and it was filled to the brim? hmmm maybe my boobs just aren't disposed to boob scotch. such a shame!

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:30 (twenty years ago)

i wonder what manboob scotch is like

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:31 (twenty years ago)

ewwwww. what if the manboob was hairy?

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:31 (twenty years ago)

I have a pic of a boob scotching in progress, but it may make the thread NSFW.

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:31 (twenty years ago)

WHAT HAVE I WROUGHT!?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:32 (twenty years ago)

hahaha an indepth discussion on the intricacies of dipping boobs in scotch. you have unleashed a monster.

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:33 (twenty years ago)

waiter, there's a hair in my boob scotch

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:33 (twenty years ago)

Click, if you dare.

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:40 (twenty years ago)

see, so i don't understand how her breast is going to get far enough into the glass to actually make contact with the scotch.

(i am not going to comment on the errrr biker cop?? spaceman? whatever outfit on the boobscotchconsumer)

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:42 (twenty years ago)

now, knob scotch on the other hand...

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:44 (twenty years ago)

even to me, a non-boobscotch afficionado, knob scotch really lacks the same ring

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:46 (twenty years ago)

http://www.spirituosenworld.de/produkte/bourbon/details/smallbatch_knob_gr.jpg

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:47 (twenty years ago)

Mmm... cheesy scotch.

ARGH *scrubs brain*

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:48 (twenty years ago)

slurp

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:48 (twenty years ago)

hahaha trayce, now i am glad that i already really really hated scotch

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:50 (twenty years ago)

All this because you mooed, and I thought of cow-tipping. We're terrible.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 30 August 2004 05:01 (twenty years ago)

it's an inevitable causal chain, it couldn't be helped

gem (trisk), Monday, 30 August 2004 05:02 (twenty years ago)

The lady in question appeared to have no difficulty booberising the scotch. I thing the scotch glass was quite full and there may have been some tipping of the glass too.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 00:51 (twenty years ago)

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 00:55 (twenty years ago)

i play guitar but i live far away and barely have time for my own bands.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:02 (twenty years ago)

i don't really want anyone else in my band. but the drummer insists. sigh.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:24 (twenty years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:31 (twenty years ago)

enhance the live sound

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:32 (twenty years ago)

How about doing a few rehearsals without one first, just to see what sort of sound you're getting without one?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:37 (twenty years ago)

we tried that for five years but it doesn't seem to be quite working..

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:38 (twenty years ago)

oh right. Of course. Sorry, I'm a bit slow today.

So is it that none of you are happy with the current live sound?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:44 (twenty years ago)

i have literally no idea what we sound like live. i've never heard a proper live recording of us. quite alarming really to think that people have been pissing in my pocket all this time. if i find we sound like shit i'm going to be very cross at my friends.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:48 (twenty years ago)

Hmmmm I see your dilemma.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 01:56 (twenty years ago)

I woulda thought you needed space in your music to let those lovely male/female vocal harmonies shine forth.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:00 (twenty years ago)

me too, but the melbourne punters want ROCK

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:01 (twenty years ago)

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:29 (twenty years ago)

FWIW Jim, yr live sound is different to the recorded one - but thats not a bad thing at all. Its punchier and rockier live, simply by dint of you being unable to reproduce all those effects and strings and whatnot.

Maybe you could pull a Cocteau Twins and have a backing tape or sampler live, playing strings and kbds? =)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:30 (twenty years ago)

What is this, 1995?

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:31 (twenty years ago)

M'Idunnuh.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:32 (twenty years ago)

Man, I miss the nineties.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:35 (twenty years ago)

a sequencer would be nice. there is potential for playing to backing tracks.. might come across a little odd though.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:37 (twenty years ago)

Is there a problem? I mean are the audiences dissatisfied? Are people heckling and going 'Give us more guitars, ya cunce!!'?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:43 (twenty years ago)

not exactly. i just think the deafening indifference and the surprise at the quality of our recordings vs. the snore festival of our live shows is becoming more obvious these days. i mean, we're never going to be my disco! but we could almost be the lucksmiths.

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:46 (twenty years ago)

So the general perception is, if only you could come over live like you come over on CD.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:49 (twenty years ago)

or at least project our positive qualities as well, yeah..

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 02:50 (twenty years ago)

have you never recorded your shows with a dictaphone or a walkman? would you be averse to doing that? or are you wanting a better standard of live recording?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 03:05 (twenty years ago)

Di's got a point, it's amazing what you can tell about the vibe of a performance even from a poor qual tape.

In other news, the M*ndy K*ne website has had a full update:

http://www.mandykane.com/gallery.asp

Check out esp Mandykam, where you can see him working on his new album, and the gallery, where he looks a bit like Boy George in one of the photos.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 03:15 (twenty years ago)

we've never done that, no. not for lack of desire on my part. i don't have access to any recording equipment for the purpose and the others never remember to bring theirs..

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 03:15 (twenty years ago)

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 03:15 (twenty years ago)

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 03:31 (twenty years ago)

Jim surely someone you know has a MD recorder you could borrow? Im sure someone *I* know does, somewhere...

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 03:32 (twenty years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 05:28 (twenty years ago)

purple patch (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 23:09 (twenty years ago)

haw!

I had a very strange taxi driver this morning. He was West African or something and was going on about my nose ring and was I .. I thought he said "LA" but maybe its like "Elai", he kept going on about a tribe. Then somehow he got onto culture and arranged marriages and was insisting I was wrong when I said I will never marry and have kids. He was a bit of a "women get in the kitchen dammit" sort of dude. With nine kids. GOing on about gods plan and the "flower of creation" and stuff. Scary.

Why I always get the damn crazy drivers?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 23:27 (twenty years ago)

They're all a bit crazy. I like the crazy happy ones who say hello to everyone.

This is a speech Shane Maloney apparently gave to Scotch College boys
recently.
______________
Context: This speech was given by Victorian crime writer (and outspoken
public education activist) Shane Maloney to an assembly of boys at Scotch
College. He had been invited to conduct some workshops on writing (which he
did) and then to speak to the larger gathering (he was given no guidance on
what to speak on). Needless to say his speech caused quite a stir, with
some of the teachers and boys being very indignant.

Address to Scotch College

Shane Maloney

When I first received an enquiry about my availability to come and talk at
this school, I was naturally reluctant. After all, this school has little
to recommend it in the eyes of the wider community. Historically it has
been simply a machine for the transmission of inherited privilege. (At the
height of the Great Depression, for example, when many Australian families
hardly knew where their next meal was coming from, Scotch College was the
largest private school in the British Empire).

It is a place where boys from middle class backgrounds are sent to improve
their material prospects and to reproduce the values of their class, or
where the boys of insecure parents are sent to fulfil the distorted
ambitions of their fathers.

When I think of Scotch College, what comes immediately to mind are the
values and actions of its most prominent Old Boys. I think of the scene I
saw on television after Scotch Old Boy Jeff Kennett used his power and his
philosophy to close down the only high school in the state specifically
dedicated to the education of young Aboriginal people. How students from
that school came here and stood at the gates and how your Principal went
out and told them to go away.

I think of your old boy, David Kemp, the federal education minister, giving
millions of dollars of public money to enhance the marketability of schools
like this one justifying his actions with statistics and arguments that he
refuses to apply to the needs of the 70% of Australian families who CHOOSE
to educate their children in the democratic and equitable environment of
government schools.

I think, too, of the newspaper reports of the violent behaviour of some of
your students and the quick readiness with which these boys were defended
and excused in the courts by their adult class allies.

For these reasons, I was initially reluctant to come here. On the other
hand, I thought 'Well, all this is hardly the fault of the current crop of
students'.

It is not your fault, after all, that your families decided to
institutionalise you.

It is not your fault that your mothers and fathers elected to place you in
the emotionally distorting and educationally deficient environment of an
all-boys school.

It is not your fault that your parents lacked sufficient confidence in your
personal maturity and ability to respond to the opportunities offered by
government school education, and Australia has one of the best systems in
the world, by the way, despite the relentless propaganda to the contrary by
the vested interest of the private school lobby.

Right now, you are the victims.

Later, of course, society will be your victim, and will suffer from the
attitudes with which you are indoctrinated here.

But who knows? Just as prison does not always break the spirit of all who
are incarcerated there, perhaps you will not turn out to be a burden to
society.

Perhaps when you leave here, some of you will even manage to contribute to
the wellbeing of this country.

I certainly hope so.

But just to hedge my bets, I will be donating part of my fee today to the
campaign for public education.

Good luck with your studies and thanks for having me.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 23:28 (twenty years ago)

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 23:50 (twenty years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 23:52 (twenty years ago)

You can just imagine the uproar. "Well, that's the last time we entertain the opinions of a... COMMONER!"

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 23:57 (twenty years ago)

Haha yes. All speeches will be vetted from now on.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 00:31 (twenty years ago)

And hahaha I just read that mono thread and half the people replying to it went to private schools like Wesley and St Michaels etc.

Warning: do not start me on private education. I'll probably be very rude. I went to a poor state school that didnt even have enough, let alone up-to-date, books for some classes. I couldnt even choose to do the subjects I wanted, I would have to have done them by correspondance. I still did well enough to get into uni somehow but a lot of other people didnt...

argh I said I wouldnt start.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 00:48 (twenty years ago)

No, go on!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 00:50 (twenty years ago)

i went to a country private, which is probably less prestigious than many melbourne urban state schools.. it's always amusing and irritating when i get put in the same basket as wesley or scotch cunce (not saying this is what you did trayce, just a general observation)..

purple patch (electricsound), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 01:24 (twenty years ago)

Fruitful lives we learn to live, to take no more than we can give and in our school, Yarra Valley we trust.

Man, reading that made me smile so much, even though I am a private school teacher. It's okay, mine's more of the hippie, everyone-love-one-another, aware-of-social-issues kinda joint.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 02:27 (twenty years ago)

I think Adam went to a private school! I don't think he's become part of the ruling class, however.

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 03:31 (twenty years ago)

i went to a private school. i'm definitely not part of the ruling class. although mine was a catholic girls' school so they were keener for us to have babies and stay in the kitchen than wield power.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 03:34 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I should point out I dont think all private schools are bad - its more the schools with more money and power than sense thing. Scotch, Wesley, St Micks etc. They have PCs coming out of their arses. We had like 4 PCs for the whole school when I went thru (admittedly PCs hadnt really taken off in the late 80s though).

We had to swim in an unheated public pool for sports when it wasnt even properly summer yet. And in Canberra that means going for an enforced sports swim at 9am in 15 degree cold. Urgh.

Lots of very good public schools around of course. Things is better now than when I were a lass. I mean man - Id have killed to be able to do actual subjects like philosphy, Japanese, photgraphy! We didnt even cover architecture in art in year 12, "not enough time".

Man, did my school STINK.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 03:35 (twenty years ago)

Catholic schools dont count, gem =) They're really only private by definition and are often poorer than state schools.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 03:36 (twenty years ago)

And if Adam's a private schoolboy too I shall point and laff. And then demand pix of him in his uniform.

..what?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 03:36 (twenty years ago)

oh well that's alright then ;)

erm it certainly wasn't poor though, i don't think most catholic schools here are poor actually, they're mostly rolling in dough and sitting on prime riverside real estate. that might be a perth thing. or maybe it's only catholic boarding schools? they definitely aren't as prestigious as the anglican ones here either though.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 03:38 (twenty years ago)

Dunno! Lands a big thing for the church tho innit.

Jesus. I just got chatted to by one of the guys on another team here asking how serious I was about leaving, and was I interested in a role in his team that is effectively what I already do now, only focussing purely on VoIP provisioning.

If the pay will be better than what I'm on now I'm thinking I might go for it. But I want my payout. Argh. I'm so confused now. I dont wanna work for teh Man, but Nick's not making any money at the moment so I need to be careful... argh argh bugger :(

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 03:50 (twenty years ago)

the need to earn money sucks arse doesn't it

Are you PTing? We could go to Pause if its easier I guess, just wanted a change.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:03 (twenty years ago)

My damn jaw will NOT STOP clicking whenever I open my mouth, its gotten so bad recently. Ow. Dont wanna have to go to a dentist...

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:05 (twenty years ago)

hayden - RZA does the beats for the wu-tang you twat ;-P

tinydemons, Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:08 (twenty years ago)

Trayce - I've got the same problem! It's become a habit, actually, to click my jaw before speaking so it doesn't pop in the middle of conversation.

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:10 (twenty years ago)

Mine pops wether I like it or not, though I know what you mean - its like you give it an "unhinge" in the hope it'll bahave, and that used to work for me, lately it isnt though. Im lucky I dont sing for a living, cos every time I sing, my jaws clacking like castanets. And the only solution Ive had offered is those ridiculous TMJ mouthguards which do nothing but make me drool everywhere in my sleep.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm worried about getting to that point. Lately I've been having a minor, throbby pain above the roof of my mouth that I believe is connected. I haven't got real insurance now, so I'm just having to deal with it. I hope it's not, like, a brainleak.

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:14 (twenty years ago)

I get this throbbing pain in my groinal region.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:16 (twenty years ago)

Brainleak!!! :o

Best get it checked, tho yeah I avoid the dentist too, as although we have a good healthcare system here, dentistry is not covered under medicare, and I cant afford private health insurance. So I've put it off for 10 years. My teef are fine, my jaw and neck and back and hips and knees and ankles are all totally fucked up and misaligned.

Someone should send me back for a refund :(

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:17 (twenty years ago)

Hahah your groinal crotchety sort of area? [/jerkyboys]

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:18 (twenty years ago)

Only one thing alleviates the pain, temporarily.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 2 September 2004 05:18 (twenty years ago)

morphine?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 2 September 2004 06:13 (twenty years ago)

Trayce, I get that clicking jaw thing too. There was a period this year [June/Julyish] when I could barely eat anything at all, it was so bad. Since getting out of my crap job it's backed right off, and now I can even eat steak again.

The mouthguards are useless. Sorry, I wish I could help properly.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 2 September 2004 08:58 (twenty years ago)

yeah I know the TMJ things are useless :( The only other suggestion one dentist had for me involved serious orthodontics and wires which freaked me the fuck out so I decided no. Mines never been so bad I couldnt eat tho, damn that sucks! :(

Thanks for comiserating tho =)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 2 September 2004 09:28 (twenty years ago)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 3 September 2004 22:26 (twenty years ago)

how was gig jim?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 4 September 2004 00:05 (twenty years ago)

Hey Adam - a guy at work has asked me to apply for this job thats kind of ok, as in its similar to what I do now... and now I fuckin' dont know wether to apply for it (cos, its a job innit) or run screaming cos I hate AA*T so much.

Im so confuuuuused :( WWDDD?

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 4 September 2004 00:49 (twenty years ago)

you could apply and continue looking ouside for another job as well?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 4 September 2004 00:55 (twenty years ago)

Well I havent been looking outside yet cos my job doesnt finish til Nov 30 or thereabouts.

But the other catch is that I believe (though I will have to talk to the guy to confirm this) this job is what they call "80% fit" which means, as a person facing redundancy, theyve found me a new position. If I am offered it and dont take it, I also lose my payout. So Im a bit wary...

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 4 September 2004 00:59 (twenty years ago)

Ah fuck, that's a bit of a quandary.

Is it worth waiting? If you get your payout, great. If you get put into this other job, great. There's no bad outcome then, is there?*

genuine question, not rhetorical

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 4 September 2004 01:06 (twenty years ago)

Well yeah, that is true. WHich is why Im totally stumped. I really dont want to go for it to be honest but I also dont want to have to hunt for a new job and go thru all that meeting new staff and bosses and dealing with new weird company processes and etc . ARGH.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 4 September 2004 01:07 (twenty years ago)

Pah, that stuff only lasts a couple of weeks. For the sake of a more enjoyable life, YOU MUST TAKE THE PLUNGE.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 4 September 2004 01:22 (twenty years ago)

You make it sound scary *cries*

I just assembled 2 of these:

Cardboard IKEA self assembly, woo! More place to shovel all my junk.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 4 September 2004 01:58 (twenty years ago)

Noice. Them things is good and cheap innit.

Following is a list of the furniture I need:

- 2 bookcases
- 2 CD holders
- 3 DVD holders
- 1 sofa
- 1 bigger flat

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 4 September 2004 02:02 (twenty years ago)

Go to Ikea, they have some amazingly cheap stuff at the moment. I mean its cheap because its all a bit sort of crappy but its ok. Freedoms stuff is better quality but sooo pricey.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 4 September 2004 02:03 (twenty years ago)

gig was GREAT and we sold three cds, not bad for an album that's three years old.. plus i got to show off my new fleetwood mac badge. hmm, i might post a photo at some stage

purple patch (electricsound), Saturday, 4 September 2004 07:16 (twenty years ago)

DOOOOOOOO IIIIIIIIIIIIT.

Not leapfrogging your good news Jim, but Trayce: We buy loads of furniture from Ikea. A lot of it isn't really that cheap-looking at all. They've got these blankets [HEKVÃ…L or something] that warm you up the second they touch you. Freaky as.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 4 September 2004 07:20 (twenty years ago)

What pic in what other thread? Are there bad hair pix afoot?

What an odd night. Had a panic attack once in bed trying to sleep, got asked whats wrong, I realised it was this job situ really freaking me out. I really think I should just take the money and run - I'm not happy taking a job I dont really want simply cos my other half isnt earning any money... gah!

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:18 (twenty years ago)

Wow. Yeah, if it's coming to that get out quickly.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:20 (twenty years ago)

yes.

I cavoirted naked in the ahil. I have taken one of the larger hailstones and put it in our freezer.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:22 (twenty years ago)

Its purely money worries innit. I dont wanna have to stay somewhere simply so I have a wage, but Nick is being kind of complacent/indifferent/slack about the fact he's being made work as many/more hours than me and yet not being paid, he keeps saying "thats just how this kind of work is, its the same in film" etc etc, and Im just freaking out that I'll be back to trying to pay all my rent on my own again. *sigh*

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:23 (twenty years ago)

I heard about your hail, Sydneyfolk! It were on the news here this morn wannit.

Rules:
- Intended to interleave other conversations in this thread, not trample/destroy them [i.e. I don't wanna derail the hail/work/cavort convos innit]
- Wait for me to answer one question before asking the next ffs
- Hayden can't play because he just says ELO 20 times

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:30 (twenty years ago)

So yeah, having been through utter shite this year, really I should have just resigned at the start of the year. I didn't, and pretty much lost my mind a few times, which wasn't nice. It's advisable to gtf out instantly.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:31 (twenty years ago)

Yeah thats true.

Is it the new TMBG album?

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:41 (twenty years ago)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:45 (twenty years ago)

Nah. Pay day.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:46 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 5 September 2004 23:57 (twenty years ago)

i have been caning my camera lately. i should probably sort through the 300-odd photos i've taken so far and delete the crap ones

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 6 September 2004 00:00 (twenty years ago)

Its great fun isnt it? I have loads of pics I never sorted - its so easy to just take tons of crap knowing you can delete or photoshop it all.

I need a scanner and a printer. And new glasses dammit.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 00:01 (twenty years ago)

[non sequitur]

Did anyone watch Bedknobs and Broomsticks on Saturday night? The six-year-old kid's wielding a magical bedknob, and Jessica Fletcher tries to take it off him because she wants to save the world, and he goes 'What's that got to do with my knob?'

[/non sequitur]

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 6 September 2004 00:02 (twenty years ago)

I need a new printer too. This one fucks up roughly 60% of the time.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 6 September 2004 00:03 (twenty years ago)

Haha I missed that line, tho I did watch bits n bobs of the show.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:39 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:41 (twenty years ago)

No.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:42 (twenty years ago)

Darn.

OK what am I listening to right now? Clue: theres a hint elsewhere online. Well, the answer actually.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:43 (twenty years ago)

Is it ambient electronica? *throws up suddenly*

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:44 (twenty years ago)

Clue: theres a hint elsewhere online.

That's, um, a pretty broad clue.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:44 (twenty years ago)

Col: No. But I own much of said genre and take personal offence to your alimentary spasm.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:45 (twenty years ago)

so now we have to guess what almy AND trayce are listening to?

gaz (gaz), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:46 (twenty years ago)

Ad: not if you're thinking laterally, it isnt =)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:47 (twenty years ago)

Adam: is it jazz?

"Tune? Dis is JAZZ!"

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:47 (twenty years ago)

Yeah whats wrong with ambient?

*hugs Orbital and Aphex cds defensively*

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:49 (twenty years ago)

Trayce: No.

Trayce: Is it American?

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:49 (twenty years ago)

Or is it funk? Or even worse, ambient jazz-funk electronica?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:50 (twenty years ago)

No.

Oh, and to complicate matters, I'm listening to something else now, so you can guess what I was listening to and what I am listening to.

Or not.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:50 (twenty years ago)

Adam: Yes. I think. Yeah they are.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:51 (twenty years ago)

One of them's XTC innit?

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:52 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:52 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:52 (twenty years ago)

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:56 (twenty years ago)

Mines almost done with its gloomy neu-goth rock pretentions, which I am giving away clues of like buggery as I can't be arsed waiting for you all to guess it.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:56 (twenty years ago)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 6 September 2004 02:57 (twenty years ago)

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 6 September 2004 03:16 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 03:50 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 04:25 (twenty years ago)

I cheated though! The hint should be enough for someone else, surely. ;)

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Monday, 6 September 2004 04:26 (twenty years ago)

Haha yes, I would have at least thought Adam or Jim could have worked it out ;)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 04:31 (twenty years ago)

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Monday, 6 September 2004 04:45 (twenty years ago)

Hang on how'd you figure out I was listening to !!! ?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 6 September 2004 05:41 (twenty years ago)

Shot in the dark! You must've mentioned it on another thread or somethin'.

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Monday, 6 September 2004 05:51 (twenty years ago)

Anyway, I like it also, though the "singer" can be a bit wearing at times.

I'm listening to the STOOGES now, heh heh.

Shady Loch Lenin (haitch), Monday, 6 September 2004 05:55 (twenty years ago)

Ahaha, you and the Stooges. And you bag out on me for the XTC/ELO thing. Iggy Pop is shit.

Besides which no one appears to have re patched the phones or our fax machine, so I cant be called or sent orders anyway. And I now seem to be sitting with my back to a walkway everyone walks past every 5 goshdarn minutes.

Still! The loos are no longer up a steep flight of stairs, and I can see SUNLIGHT OMG.

by which i mean it was a somewhat weird thread to start with. but hey. its been a weird day.

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 03:45 (twenty years ago)

I'm wounded too: the unbridled triumph of my Ralf Hutter thread has been completely overshadowed by the ignominious fate of my less inspired Rob Halford thread. why don't I quit when I'm ahead? Why, why? Oh hang on, no-one gives a shit except me. Anyway Trayce we all think you're tops so there.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 03:53 (twenty years ago)

I think I reacted because its not the first time someone's started a "what the hell are they for?" thread, and always with the slightly snide suggestions that they are lesser quality threads, from certain oldskool quarters.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 03:55 (twenty years ago)

i feel sorry for them, because they protest about how they don't like it here and don't want to be here and yet they can't keep the fuck away.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 04:05 (twenty years ago)

normally i have no beef with anyone and i think that everyone needs space to whinge and opine on what they dislike. but i hate it when someone just wants to slag something under the guise of a "discussion". it's disingenuous and rude.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 04:06 (twenty years ago)

yeah but i think people just love having something to whinge about and being able to say "back in the good ole days when the bus stops were made of chocolate it was grouse", half the time they are doing it for something to say like "gee it's cold today" sorta thing

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 04:06 (twenty years ago)

Mmmm chocolate bus stops...

Dammit I cant find a land of chocolate screencap.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 04:12 (twenty years ago)

So Jim what time will you be at the Robbers? Are you going straight from work? I woudnt mind going if I could just go straight there, have a drink or 2 then pop home again.. but I'd probably be there by 7, so not sure if I want to hang about on me own...

It's now 9:20something and I've been home two hours, and I only just remembered by way of seeing this thread that Jim has a thing on. And here I am in my pyjamas, eating chocolate and listening to Kylie. Sorry Jim.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 10:22 (twenty years ago)

Wow, you're so OTM about Andrew being disingenuous. Many Coloured Halo owned his arse with aplomb, though, which is nice.

Anyway, Andrew wasn't really having a go, was he? If he hadn't started that thread, I'd never have known what the TITTWIS threads were all about.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 10:32 (twenty years ago)

are you being ingenuous there adam?

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 10:35 (twenty years ago)

Did anyone just see 'Alone Across Australia' with Jon Muir on ABC just then? It was amazing to me. I can't even begin to describe it.

BUT the most amazing part for me was right at the end - the Aboriginal version of 'Walzing Matilda' that played out over the credits. I was dumbfounded. It sounded as if the song, and the whole culture that gave rise to it. It had swinging clapstick, and vocal harmony, and the vocals were a pidgin hybrid. It GROOVED like a BASTARD and it was 100% dreamtime in flavour: Victorian Anglo-Australian culture presented as a dreamtime legend. I was mindfucked by this angle. The sense of seeing your own cuture through aboriginal eyes! It was like the song was judged drenched in eternity and the desert.

Gaz, I was wondering and hoping that you might have some information on that recording?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 11:37 (twenty years ago)

Dammit, we don't know enough about our country's native cultures. That's my Next Big Thing, to learn and understand it.

Ingenuous? Possibly, but I was definitely being ert.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 11:44 (twenty years ago)

Well I'd never liked that song but last night I heard a version I liked a lot! And why stop there? I could think of a few more recent songs that could benefit from the same treatment.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 21:03 (twenty years ago)

i dunno col. i can ask. i only know the Trevor Adamson vers which is in Pitjantatjara, but is more a country singalong type thing

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 21:08 (twenty years ago)

That ain't it. This one's got no country influences - just clapstick and vocals (polynesian harmonies).

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 21:10 (twenty years ago)

i will ask our aboriginal broadcaster.

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 21:12 (twenty years ago)

I could always ask the ABC of course.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 21:13 (twenty years ago)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 23:24 (twenty years ago)

No. I are poor until later today. Is anyone else going to come?

Hayden (Pow, Pow, Pow) (haitch), Thursday, 9 September 2004 00:17 (twenty years ago)

Doubt it.

I can't buy a ticket until next week anyway.

Stereolab are touring? Um, isnt one of them dead? (how tasteful of me).

Is anyone here going to Mark Kozolek next week? I hear he'll even take requests. I want to keep yelling out "play 'Lord Kill the Pain!'" to piss him off. Heh.

Soooo tired aftr last night. Y'shouldve come Adam.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 00:27 (twenty years ago)

So? All five of the Rolling Stones are dead and they're still touring.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 9 September 2004 00:29 (twenty years ago)

Ha ha ha Adam ;P

gaz: I was fine in the end, no one was being really coolsie, it was a nice laid back atmos!

Yeah Kozolek (well, Red House Painters) has done accadacca and KISS covers. I havent heard the AC/DC ones to be honest. If he plays something like "Down Through" or "Katysong" or "Uncle Joe" I'll be happy tho. If I end up going.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 00:32 (twenty years ago)

the Miller sisters eh? not sure gaz. Will check it out.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:34 (twenty years ago)

with fondue

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:35 (twenty years ago)

what is fondue? i hear people speaking of it but i've really never had any idea what it means.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:35 (twenty years ago)

its like a little pot over a burner and its full of either melted cheese or melted chocolate and you dip things in it and eat them

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:36 (twenty years ago)

so it's like hot dip? what sort of things do you dip in there? is it just normal cheese or a special sort?

gem (trisk), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:38 (twenty years ago)

http://www.coop.cz/magazin/4_2002/img/klasicka_syrova_fondue_02.jpg

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:38 (twenty years ago)

Cheese fondue: usuually a base of a white sauce type mix, then add a little kirsch (I think?), then the cheese, usually a mix of gruyere, cheddar and swiss or somehting but I think any combo of melty-goo type cheese and a strong bitey would work.

So you have this lovely melty cheesy goo which you dip bread cubes and bits of veg into. Sortof a very kitsch 70s communal thing, I gave my best friend a set for his wedding though. Bastards havent used it yet either! heh.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:39 (twenty years ago)

crutons i think...and fruit in the chocolate one. i don't know about the cheese.

COL DARL? WHAT CHEESE ARE YOU USING?

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:39 (twenty years ago)

Dammit now I want a fondue set so we can sit around eating of the cheesy goodness.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:40 (twenty years ago)

does everyone end up burning their tongue?

gem (trisk), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:42 (twenty years ago)

Espressofetish and his lovely lady will be there.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:42 (twenty years ago)

Gaz darl, we haven't decided what cheese but it will be srtong and bitey and will will be adding kirsch. There will be four separate fondues going at once. All are welcome! Come hungry and bring a friend, as the rajneeshies say.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:43 (twenty years ago)

There may well be some kinky shenanigans later in the evening gaz, so you'd better bring your g-string.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:45 (twenty years ago)

heh. my friend once told me that her mum and a couple of other old birds were once chatted up by some newcastle tv sports "celebrities" who tried to lure them on to a party at a hotel with the leering promise "silver and the boys will be there *wink*"

and i imagine your promise of mrfetish is similar.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:45 (twenty years ago)

did you like the music last nite trayce? you seemed to be getting quite into it!

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:45 (twenty years ago)

Trayce can't come, gem can't come? Yes indeed you do burn your tongue at these events, or so I find anyway.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:45 (twenty years ago)

Yes I did Jim! Z's sense of humour in some of those lyrics really shone out, I liked it a lot.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:46 (twenty years ago)

Fondue. Oh my god. How brilliant.

edward o (edwardo), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:47 (twenty years ago)

Coming Edward?

espressofetish is real gaz! A genuine person.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:48 (twenty years ago)

yay!

hmm maybe i should make a sydney trek before the end of the year...

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:48 (twenty years ago)

what's kirsch? i actually thought it was cherry liqueur, but surely you don't put that in with the bitey cheese???? i am going to have to look into this fondue phenomenon, i am intrigued.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:49 (twenty years ago)

gem you are about to go on a cheesy kitsch 70's journey of delight.

Jim you have our couch any time. Hey we're coming to Melb Oct 14-15 but it'll be a bit of a flying visit, no pun intended.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:50 (twenty years ago)

Its a clear liquer innit? Im not sure what it tastes like tho. Im imagining a vodkaish thing for some reason.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:50 (twenty years ago)

expresso isn't an invention of janne? he's real? well so was silver aka tha silver fox. later jailed for pederasty i believe.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:50 (twenty years ago)

fuckit col just put voddy in darl.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:51 (twenty years ago)

Oh hang on gem, you were right!
Kind of:

Kirsch is a dry, clear brandy distilled from black morello cherries and is infused with their unique aroma and taste. Do not confuse kirsch with crème de kirsch, a sweet cherry liqueur.

For other brandies, see apple brandy, apricot brandy, blackberry brandy, calvados, framboise, and marc de Champagne.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:51 (twenty years ago)

cheese goes with all fruits, wines and liquors. I imagine you could put any fruity alcohol in the fondue. Or vodka for that matter, why not? It's just to thin it out a little and give it that authentic 'sweet and gooey' 70's taste.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:51 (twenty years ago)

Apparently kirsch is also some curtain company. Thanks google.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:51 (twenty years ago)

is kirsch kitsch?

Ooh, tempting. If it had been last week, that would have been too convenient. Next week though, hmm.

Pay on the weekends is probably too good to be giving up....

Yay! Fondue Around Australia Relay Corps (FAARC).

This thread is dumbing down nicely now. You go girls!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:59 (twenty years ago)

was it at a risk of going intellectual?

gem (trisk), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:59 (twenty years ago)

Meat lovers fondue

6 large pork sausages (blended)
1 large steak (blended)
2 large pieces tripe (blended)
1 pig liver (diced)
1 cup lard
1 bottle vodka

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 01:59 (twenty years ago)

Hah yeah we could have webcam hookups =)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:00 (twenty years ago)

Bloody hell gaz, what kind of monstrosity is that?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:00 (twenty years ago)

Eww gaz. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:01 (twenty years ago)

i can't see the point of it, meself, jim.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:01 (twenty years ago)

its pointlessness is part of the charm

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:02 (twenty years ago)

haha today is like "revenge of the threads andrew doesn't understand"

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:03 (twenty years ago)

I was thinking about the (correct) suggestions of a low level of intellect in these threads, and how it was in marked contrast to what I know of you all, ie that you are all brilliant at something and obviously very sharp. I thought, well, this thread must be like intellectual relief for you all, from thinking to hard. Then I thought of that little rhyme,

A little nonsense now and then
Is relished by the wisest men

Who was that? Lewis Carroll? Willy Wonka?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:03 (twenty years ago)

if it was lewis carroll it was probably referring to taking acid.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:04 (twenty years ago)

Cheese lovers fondue - with cheese right through the fondue utensils.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:04 (twenty years ago)

A little nonsense now and then, is cherished by the wisest men.
Roald Dahl, (Willie Wonka) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
British juvenile author (1916 - 1990)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:06 (twenty years ago)

Can I just ask, at these fondue parties, will there be SAFARI SUITS in evidence?

Hayden (Pow, Pow, Pow) (haitch), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:10 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I was going to say it was Dahl (as Wonka).

(xpost)

You know to be honest, I have tried to do serious thoughtful posts on various threads in the past, and more often than not my posts go unanswered and the thread dies, or it continues on and my points are largely ignored. Its no wonder I cannae be bothered much of the time.

Also, I am at work, and long thought out posts are not possible. Snatch n grab, thats my method.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:10 (twenty years ago)

It's called 'Fondue Fondle' and goes from dusk till dawn.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:12 (twenty years ago)

yeah Trayce, the posting from work thing is very important! and it wasn't even touched on in that thread...its not like we're all out of work rock fucking journalists.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:13 (twenty years ago)

hey, you know that people we hate list on the noise board?

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:17 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to have to start a thread contemplating short sharp shocks vs longwinded farting (on the tree of woe).

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:17 (twenty years ago)

i don't post serious stuff much as my areas of expertise are pretty limited. but if someone wants to start a controversial thread on public sector employment in regional western australia i could maybe throw some fascinating posts around. or some excerpts from my torts law assignment?

gem (trisk), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:18 (twenty years ago)

True enough. And if someone wants to know about the history of the lash, well, I can probably whip something up.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 02:21 (twenty years ago)

how hard is it to set up a music distru company col?

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 03:49 (twenty years ago)

I imagine it's no walk in the park, and the newer distro companies in Oz are formed by people with lotsa contacts from a long history in the biz already. I can give you some contacts for people who've done it if you want to pursue the matter. You thinking of getting into this area?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 03:57 (twenty years ago)

someone keeps egging me on in a kind of joking we should do this way but i'm not too interested, really.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 03:59 (twenty years ago)

i can't get to hear the mills sisters cos my colleagues have on one of those fm stations which are run by buying a 100 cd changer, acquiring 100 greatest hits collections of 70's and 80's classic rocks songs, and hitting random.

hmmmm, how hard is it to set up an fm station col?

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:02 (twenty years ago)

gaz, what's involved in setting up a tv network?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:35 (twenty years ago)

there may be an opening for a station to service ethnic communities soon as the one we have is determined to become the abc you watch when you're not watching the abc.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:57 (twenty years ago)

To talk to a woman, gaz, I mean, really talk to a woman, you need to learn to think like a woman. In order to do that, it helps to dress like a woman, and act like a woman.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 04:57 (twenty years ago)

See ya gaz, try to listen to that song tomorrow cos I think you'll like it.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 9 September 2004 05:03 (twenty years ago)

Hooray! A kid I went to high school with, and coincidentally, the kid who told me / taught me about masturbation died in a car crash two days ago. He had been diagnosed in the 6 years since I last saw him as having a 'thought disorder.' I would feel sadder, but I remember him so fractionally that I think a serious emotional reaction would be affected. As is - I'm just feeling very happy and listening to Pulp on headphones really loudly.

International support slots are a pain in the neck anyway. They never make you very loud cos they don't want you upstaging the headliner.

So, Nina F0ch, who's one of my professors, felt the need to sound-off on the topic of Australia today: Here's her statement.

"Australians are uniformly weird birds - a country founded on a male only penal - penile - colony - in which all the gents call each other 'mate' and fuck about in alligator boots. Case in Point? Err0l Flynn, guy was a total queer."

Thank you.

and MM - she is 80. Also, I was seated and reading a monologue when she said "Jeremy, why are you directing that [monologue] at your balls?" And the whole class laughed. Not one to be one-upped by an octogenerian, I told her 'they're a captive audience, and one that's been good to me in the past,' after which she told me I was 'damned gross, but diverting.'

Nov 30. Which gives me a chance to have all of December holidaying and relaxing, thinking on what I wanna do, then in Jan I can throw myself back into the market.

You know, the funny thing is I feel like I did at the end of year 12 - I'm like "I dont even know what I'm good at and what jobs I can do as a result!". I dont know quite where to start, unless I just go work at another telco/ISP ugh.
