Yoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyo!

The one and only Roxymuzak is coming to visit England's debatably great capital in early October and this happens to coincide with my 24th year of being alive. As is traditional in such circumstances, there will be a need for imbibation of the alcoholic variety somewhere, somehow around the weekend of the 9th (Saturday) of October (might be Friday - we haven't decided yet, innit?).

Who can come? Where can we go? What can we do? Anyone got a floor I can kip on?

Don't be lightweight! Turn up!

:-) :-) :-) :-D :-D :-D :-O :-O :-O. :-O.. :-O....
(that is someone being sick after drinking too much).

YO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 27 September 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Doglatin's already had too much!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Monday, 27 September 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I have prophetic sympathy drunkeness.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 27 September 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

we should try and go to this guy's karaoke thing if it's on... doglatin just reminded me of his website

http://www.mrboing.co.uk/home1.html

ken c (ken c), Monday, 27 September 2004 23:37 (twenty-one years ago)

You damned drunks. Nothing but bread and water for you all!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

you're just jealous.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 00:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Well yes. BUT DON'T QUESTION ME.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I said "You're just jealous", not "You're just Jesus"!

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I prefer otherwise.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 00:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Sadly I'm not religious.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

roxy this is cool, i can't wait to meet you! you will have to fill me in on all the south knox goss.

You've Got to Pick Up Every Stitch (tracerhand), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

whee! i'll be around.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 01:01 (twenty-one years ago)

This sounds like fun, I'll see what I can do!!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 07:29 (twenty-one years ago)

My, we're all excitable this morning aren't we? Rocktober is all looking pretty insane right now, but then it always seems to. When is Annie at the Social?

Either Friday or Saturday should be okay for me.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 07:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Nooooo not that weekend! Or if it is, can we have a FAP earlier in the week as well?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 07:47 (twenty-one years ago)

watch out liz barry will be on your case in a bit!!!!!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 07:52 (twenty-one years ago)

More weekend FAPs are an excellent idea. Easier to relax and have a good time when the thought of having to get up at six the next morning to go to work is not eating away at the back of your mind.

"Rocktober" however is a terrible idea. Listen, Matt, I'm old enough to remember Bob Harris and DLT on '70s Radio 1 using terms like "Rocktober" unironically (and at the same time, the Top 40 was always called "the FUN 40" AARGH!)!

Jasper Milvain, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 07:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm old enough to remember Bob Harris and DLT on '70s Radio 1 using terms like "Rocktober" unironically (and at the same time, the Top 40 was always called "the FUN 40" AARGH!)!
And your point...?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Sweet. Roxy and tha Dogg in one sexy package! I'll be there.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Meeeeep! Tue/Wed FAP please!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:28 (twenty-one years ago)

(also: what shall I do for my birthday on Thursday 14th?)

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

don't fret liz. there are plans (kinda)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

(liz, i thought we'd sorted that, mortimer arms quiz and then karaoke at the pint pot, isn't it?)

and here i was thinking i could maybe try and make october a dry month...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

(for tues/wed that is)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

no chance of that with so many Librans on ILX.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

what does lending books have to do with it?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

My folks are away that weekend. Party in Devon, anyone?

Rasputin Kitten (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

*sigh* it would be nice.

(hurrah dodgy karaoke fun on the agenda)

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Come to London, Nick.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I shall think about it, but it will depend on whether my cat dies or not. If she does, I can come to London, if not I'd rather spend one of her last weekends with her, rather than getting ratted in the capital, if that makes sense. We've had her since I was about 9.

Rasputin Kitten (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

take her to the fap. she can have her last drinks with us.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

She might have liked that in her younger days...

Rasputin Kitten (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 08:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm old enough to remember Bob Harris and DLT on '70s Radio 1 using terms like "Rocktober" unironically (and at the same time, the Top 40 was always called "the FUN 40" AARGH!)!

-- PinXorchiXoR (pink{est}panther4...), September 28th, 2004.

Fule of fules this is ILx! There IS no point!!

Jasper Milvain, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be around. I can offer not just a floor to sleep on but a mattress and a sofabed too.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Hooray! This is gonna rock. Nick - yes, you should come down!!

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Ok, it can't be that Saturday. It can, however, be Saturday the 2nd cause I will already be there at 8pm that day. (Emily in being retarded about trips shocker.) As far as the next weekend (post-DL birthday), it will have to be Friday. I got my tickets finally! Yay!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Saturday the 2nd you say?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Wahey! Sat'day is ON!

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a dream about Dog Latin last night!!

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Do tell? I'm sure I saw a fresher who looked just like him yesterday.

Rasputin Kitten (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Saturday 2nd - The Swimmer

Friday 8th - someone suggest a pub already

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

roxy, where are you arriving on the 2nd at 8pm? if that's when the plane's landing, you might just get into town by last orders. if you are arriving somewhere else and then bus/train/ox-carting it to london for 8pm, then you'll have the joy of turning up after we've been in the pub for 4 or 5 hours, lucky you ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Oi vay enough of the "already" already my life!

Maureen Lipman, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i would suggest a pub but not sure i'd make the friday yet...maybe...A BAR...

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay, ready-made FAP! I'm arriving at Heathrow.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

DON'T TRY IT! (xpost - to stevem)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

So, is the plane landing at 8pm? Or is that your ETA in town?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Straight up the Piccadilly line to the Swimmer then!

My entirely predictable nomination for the Friday FAP is the Blue Posts Newman Street for four reasons.

1. It is central.
2. It is never oppressively crowded on a Friday.
3. Cheap beer.
4. The best quizzer ever.

(I will understand if you're all bored of it by now though)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Or alternatively... NEW PUB.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Plane lands at 8pm. You people start drinking before that? Sweet!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

wow you're here on 2nd! get in!

(it takes about an hour to get from heathrow to the pub)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday's FAP will start at 5, surely?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

We people will be wellied by 8pm

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

but it'll prolly take a while for you to get out of the airport though (if your plane lands at 8)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

You might have a dirty bomb about your person - can't be too careful

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

a porn bomb

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm normally ready to go home about 8pm when I've been to the pub. I like to start at 3pm whenever possible.

Rasputin Kitten (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i fear your rural ways

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I had a dream about all sortsa ILXers it seems. I was at SUMMER CAMP with a bunch of people - and MARTIN SKIDMORE had like a 9 year old son in my dream, and he was at the summer camp, too. Anyhow I was sitting next to D.L. and someone said, "Hey - you guys would make a good couple!" and then I had to get up and tell my life story to everyone at camp and then I realized I was 24 and far too old to be there. And then I woke up.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I am very confused about the plan now... only I work in an off license so this might hinder my effectuality of arriving in London. Hmmm... I could always quit. Don't know if I'd be able to make the 2nd as I think a lot of people are leaving Hitchin to go to university etc and I want to see them all off. Oh no! What do I do?! Oh no!

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't quit! Sheesh!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

get lashed at the off licence and then arrive pissed as a fart like us?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

The plan is still to have something on the 8th, Mr Latin. The 2nd FAP was already happening.

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

The plan is: 2nd Oct - RickyT birthday FAP, pre-arranged anyway, which Roxy may turn up to if she gets off the plane in time.

Friday 8th Oct - Doglatin/RoxyFAP at as-yet-undecided London pub. (FOCUS PEOPLE!)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

you have to take advantage of your work environment

or host a FAP inside your off licence

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

get lashed at the off licence and then arrive pissed as a fart like us?

could do. i have to quit at some point anyway since my new job'll get in the way of all my hours so now's a better time than any.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

okay - i'll tell them if I have to work Friday then I'm leaving, nyatch.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

come back the steering committee all is forgiven...

PLAN:

ms roxymusik arrives on saturday the 2nd, co-incidentally the day of rickyt's birthday fap.

[notional midweek meet-up, TBC]

friday 8th, another FAP, details to be confirmed despite their being 70 posts on this thread already, MattDC suggests Blue posts newman Street.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

What's the pub that blur was at? I kid!! What's the shittiest pub in London?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

pint pot?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

(that wasn't a suggestion, btw! that's the week after and all)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Obviously once we've picked a pub it should go in the subject header to stop the Pinefox* wandering onto this thread after 200 posts and asking where the FAP is.

*And everyone else for that matter

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

where's the fap again?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

what i mean is... we should put it on the ilx calendar

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

There's no debate about it, fool.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

get of yr ass and make a decision for once in yr life chu ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

what's that pub that still has gas lighting?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, obviously I should not be in charge of picking.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

That's all of them in London, Roxy. There's also a donkey out the back and a sleeping whore in the corner, on a bale of hay.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

roxy, you are categorically NOT HELPING ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Some form of Steve should get busy with the calendar.

(and also add my birthday pub quiz and karaoke)

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Blue Posts it is

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

you people are a bunch of drunks!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

thosh two Canadian guys may have a point

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Thankyou Steve. I was waiting for someone to say that so I didn't have to be Hitler DC and go stomping round someone else's FAP thread again.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

and maybe Spain after - it's been a while...

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

oi mannion!

don't you go editing my calendar posts

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

YOU USED THE WRONG COLOUR

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

it was green wasn't it?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

possible to make the friday one North London? (just easier for me I guess).

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh but it does it automatically if you just select 'London FAP' from the menu. i can't believe this!

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, it's pretty close to King's Cross - short tube ride away innit.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

The pub is just off Oxford Street, Doglatin, its about as easy to get to as you can get.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

dude, i'm going to go through and CHANGE EVERYTHING TO A DIFFERENT SHADE OF GREEN now, just, y'know, fer kicks ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i was just about to suggest the Babuska which overlooks the canal and near kings cross but i realised that it's a bar ignore this post!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

oh no the calendar mods are fighting amongst themselves.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

link to calendar again plz.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

http://my.calendars.net/ilxfap

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

can there be a link to the ilx calendar from the top of the page or something? actually maybe this is a mod forum thing

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

many times that question has been pondered over the ages

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

When is Annie at the Social?

tuesday the 5th, day of my arrival.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey so so long as there's Americans-in-London action going on here, I should mention: I'll be there mid-November. I'll start a thread in a month to remind you bastards.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Fantastic!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

It's called the Prince Albert, I think? It's gaslit and that is cool!

I have no idea what is going on anymore. :/

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

A Prince Albert is a pub?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

If it's central I might come along, as it's been a while since I went to a FAP.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no idea what is going on anymore. :/

that, my dear, is why we have teh calendar

but i'm sure other opportunities for ilx socialism will avail themselves in more of a spontaneous/short notice and more importantly FUN fashion nearer the time

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

ARE YOU SAYING THIS THREAD ISN'T FUN?!!!

C'MERE! LOOK! THIS THREAD IS FUN! YOU FUCK! BOING BOING BOING! LOOK AT THE FUN! WITNESS IT BITCH!

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

omg doglatin IS mr. boing!!!!!!!!!!!!

ph34r!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday the 8th?

STOP SCHEDULING FAPS WHEN I HAVE REHEARSALS!!! GRRRRR!!!

Or maybe I should just tell my band to stop scheduling rehearsals when we have FAPs.

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Fule of fules this is ILx! There IS no point!!
Oh there is always a point believe me!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

kate needs to put her rehersal times on the ilx calendar so we can arrange FAPs around it!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I would but they keep changing them! Grrrr!!! I'm going to quit this band if it keeps interfering with my drinking and philandering!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

My next rehearsal is on Wednesday 13th, so don't anybody schedule any FAPs that night, either!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

-When is Annie at the Social?
-tuesday the 5th, day of my arrival.

What's this then? I can't find any info on the interweb. she's djing on monday at a couple of places (including Trash), but is this a proper 'gig' at The Social?

Anyway, everyone in London should be going to see THE HIDDEN CAMERAS on Tuesday, dammit! Canadian homo-pop for the people, yo!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait, you were trying to tell me about this on Monday but I was drunk and incapable. Where are they/he playing?

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously folks, if you haven't heard the almighty joy that is The Hidden Cameras, you should. The live shows can be quite a sight to behold. Teenage dancing boys in white underpants and gimp masks! Singalongs! Dance moves! Lyric sheets on grade-school stylee overhead projectors! Hooray!

Kate - the gig is at The Marquee, which I thought was closed (I read it used to be in Soho, but I thought it was at Angel, now renamed Islighton Academy. I'm confused). Anyway, it's apparently re-opening in Leicester Square next week with a bunch of gigs (including THC).

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Although they prefer to play unique venues like churches:

http://www.thehiddencameras.com/gallery/mgtrinity1.jpg

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw THC at Bush Hall back in the summer. Very good they were too. Their new album should have got far better reviews than it actually did get.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

That looks like Anthony standing at the back.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't really noticed many bad reviews, but granted I haven't looked around much. I missed the Bush hall gig but saw the one at ICA. Their gig at the Primavera festival in Barcelona was ruined by terrible sound problems. Although I suppose they are a bit of a soundpersons nightmare.

Sorry to derail the thread - Kate go have fun here (and check the gallery!):
http://www.musicismyboyfriend.com

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG Ed, you are so right, that looks just like Anthony, i wonder if it is...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The Hidden Cameras are Tuesday the 5th? Sweet!

Kate, skip practice and hang out with us!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I really want to meet up... but we've got a gig in two weeks! What other days are you going to be out and about?

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Every day from the second to the ninth, I think.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

you should practice with us, kate.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't do either Monday or Friday of that week, but ANY OTHER DAY... preferably the Wednesday? What happens on Wednesday (that isn't Death Disco?)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh my god -- fancy a band? Let's all meet up and practice and play a gig all off-the-cuff like.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Hurrah! That would be awesome!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a rehearsal space round the corner from my house i wanted to check out. it's well cheap too

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

we can busk in covent garden and kick ass and get signed by some mega big bucks label and be rich.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

When do we get to the bit where Carl Barat paints my toenails?

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

(I can also meet up Tuesday or Thursday during the day, but have to go home early as is school night.)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

roxy, so are you coming to the hidden cameras then? kate, come too!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

We can do some fun daytime activity together.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Like getting sauced.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Getting sauced is urgent *and* key! ;-)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Rob -- I think I just might come, sounds fun.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

So what are you guys getting for DL's birthday?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Besides sauced, obv.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

sauce?

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Good idea! I'm getting him a 6-pack of Tennant's.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

it's not a gig at the social, rob. more dj stuff.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

8 White Ace

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

10 altoids

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

six cheeseburgers

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

those burgers are crazy

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

re: What happens on Wednesday (that isn't Death Disco?)
-- Danger Whore

this has recently started:

THE POP KLINIK
http://thefanclub.info/popklinik.htm
playing for your pleasure (and theirs) an eclectic mix cool indie, pop, electropop, alt 80s, disco, post-punk, new wave, alt country, art rock, etc

9pm - 3am FREE before 11pm

they even play Roxy Music [for roxymuzak] and The Jesus & Mary Chain [for kate].

DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is it? If it's South London, we have a WINNER!!!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Regent Street? Oh, that's fine, then! 159 home, weh-hoo!

Roxy, what say you?

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

That's Wednesday? Sounds good! Is Ken in?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

sure!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

although no limp bizkit on the flyer...

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

(actually, that does sound good, even to someone who hates this kind of thing and hasn't been 'out' to a 'club' in about 10 years)

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

you should come!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Woo! Sounds good to me.

Andy, come out and shuffle around. It's good for you :)

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd kind of like to come out and shuffle around, but they would never let me in. Not into a club called the Pop Klinik.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

it sounds like about 99 other clubs in this town, but yet i'm still intrigued

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

It says BAXENDALE on the flyer! Run away!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not at all sure about:

3 BAD SISTERS
a trio of female DJs/promoters/girls-about-
town, complete with 60s nurses uniforms, AKA
VAL (The Fan Club, Dark Stuff, Rabbit Hole)
ALICAT (Room At The Top)
CLARE JAMES CLARE (The Dark Stuff)

Especially if they turn out to be actual nurses moonlighting to supplement their pitiful pay, or even worse, nurses I actually know.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

It says BAXENDALE on the flyer! Run away!

Rockist scum!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree with Matt DC.

robster (robster), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:42 (twenty-one years ago)

They should do a shoegazing revival night so that we can all come dressed in regulation stripey French fisherman's jumpers and mope around on the edge of the dancefloor to Lush and Slowdive just like in the good old days of Saturday night at the Underworld circa 1991.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

So the calendar now reads:

Thu - Club Popular
Sat - RickyT FAP
Mon - Annie pub quiz/Trash
Tue - Hidden Cameras/Annie social/Lauren in London
Wed - Beer of some description followed by schmindie.

I predict Stevem will manage ALL of that. And then collapse into a crumpled heap.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

gosh, i was thinking about going to almost all of that (except ricky t's birthday due to a prior engagement) as well. but it makes me feel tired just looking at it.

plus, add something on fri/sat for dog latin's birthday as well.

maybe after that we shouldn't all see each other until christmas.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

(apart from my birthday)

Colette are you feeling a bit Barry today?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I predict that I will manage NONE of that. And still manage to collapse into a crumpled heap.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

nope. just overwhelmed! it's nice to have stuff to do, i just wish it were a little more spread out.

so your birthday and birthday celebrations are two weeks from tonight? someone else is going to have to make a cake for this one. i'd volunteer, but the results could be scary. hmm.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha yes. I should actually make, like, a thread or something? OMG.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 30 September 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

how about bowling next Thursday? lol

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I kill you with guns made of cake.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

my liver is aching just thinking about the next 10 days or so.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

the Square Tavern (off Hampstead road/drummond street) apparently now has karaoke on a Wednesday! (It's a good hidden pub anyway)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I plan to have a bowl of soup next Thursday. Broccoli and used blue Stilton.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

bowling for soup? worst trade ever

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

you're bowling for soup?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

fuck you steve

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

"used" blue Stilton?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

as in they smell like used socks

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

no ken, thank YOU

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

No, "used" as in "only previously eaten once."

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

then regurgitated?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Not necessarily.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

it'd make for instant soup

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Exactly.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

and recyclable

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i going to donate regurgitated cheese to relief hunger.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no. Once it's in me it stays in me, even if only as an ethereal cotton candy analogy.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

no shit

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

as it were

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

THE KEN C AND MARCELLO COMEDY SHOW!

Satan (Ronan), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

it's still funnier than Green Wing

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Green Wing is not supposed to be funny

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

is it meant to suck?

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Green Wing is no problem

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Unless it gets stuck in your gullet. I thought that broccoli looked funny.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Good god, can we decide where we're FAPing with DL?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

CAN we!

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

If I canned my wee I would run a major risk of absent-mindedly mistaking it for Heinz pea and ham soup, sans ham.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

We should FAP at King's Kebab.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

at the black bird

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

That's the butterfly pub! Too bad that's far from everyone. Does it need to be in a certain locale? Maybe I can pick.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

FOR GOD'S SAKE JUST PICK A PUB AND BE DONE WITH IT AND END THIS FANNYDANGLE!

Ahem, sorry about that. (Matt DC), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I don't know. Fannydangles are much more fun than boring old FAPs!

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i would pick a pub but i'm not sure which day we're talking about anymore, given the Friday is settled already

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

how about a bar?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh shit, we need to go to that vodka bar, Ken!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

you forgot the plural "s"

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

and "those" instead of "that"

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i say again: DRUNKS!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

and "break up" instead of "go to"

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

why would you want to do that?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Go to that GOTH GARLIC VODKA BAR in Soho.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

omg the garlic and shots!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i've heard nasty stories about that place via colleagues

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

so obv. we're going

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

garlic and shots on wednesday before POP KLINIC

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

frith st -> regents street easy!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

isn't it more of an after hours place?

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

nope it's a regular bar (closes at 12 i think!)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

"regular"

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

We will STINK OUT Pop Klinic. Yay for us.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

hell yeah! girls like garlic anyway i hear.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I went to Garlic and shots once. Avoid the garlic ice cream.

I wasn't a big fan overall, to be honest. Garlic abuse is a bad thing.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

HOLY FUCKING SHIT
Ken, that Hidden Cameras gig is with ABERFELDY!! We are so there. I am so happy w00+omgwtfbyob

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

hooray! we'll have to find a pub near leicster square to meet up beforehand. does a decent one exist there?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Aberfeldy is like the first thing ken and i ever talked about, I think? Besides upper decking dudes with one leg, natch.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

bowling for soup? worst trade ever

The new Bowling for Soup album is pretty good, in my top 5 for the year.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:56 (twenty-one years ago)

definitely don't try to eat anything at garlic and shots. go downstairs to the heavy metal basement for bloodshots, which are like little garlic-charged bloody mary shooters.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm leaving for NYC in 10 minutes! Wish me safe trip!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 30 September 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Safe trip RM!

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 30 September 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I would say, "Bon Voyage".

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Thursday, 30 September 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

what's that track "heliopolis at night"? that rules the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 1 October 2004 02:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't forget Tuesday, Kate! You must see the homo-pop!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a funny feeling I'm doing something on Tuesday. Like playing a gig or something.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:15 (twenty-one years ago)

omg aberfeldy yes!! actually you won't read this until you're.. here! i'll tell you in person

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

what time is this gig rob? is it likely to sell out? will we have to get ticks in advance?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i have tickets, and i think you should get them before the gig ken, it might sell out. maybe get one for roxy?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

how do i get it?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

tickets here, ken

no idea about set times. who are aberfeldy and what's their story?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

found it! on aloud.com getting 2 just now

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

haha wtf how can it cost £4.70 to post two pieces of paper!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:46 (twenty-one years ago)

got them! see you tues!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:48 (twenty-one years ago)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:49 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, i always do venue pick-up with tickets - no post charge, and no risk of them being lost/late!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 1 October 2004 08:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, thanks for getting tix, Ken! I'm in NYC just now hating life and being tired and wanting to go ahead and leave for London. I'm so excited and can't wait to be in London!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 1 October 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

yes! don't get too tired there's all kinds of fun waiting here!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 1 October 2004 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

> Blue Posts it is

it is? can someone who can decipher this thread (or who has insider knowledge) post details of the possible wednesday thing. ta.

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, its the Blue Posts Newman Street on Friday.

No idea as to tomorrow's festivities as its unlikely I'll be making it along...

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

> dodgy metal goth vodka garlic bar beforehand.

i think i've just changed my mind...

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 09:42 (twenty-one years ago)

are we actually doing the garlic and shots first?

i've got a meeting that'll run until at least 6:30. boo.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I dunno. I kind of ph34r the garlic shots. Maybe a normal pub instead?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

so who's coming tonight then? dunno if roxy can see this thread... anyway, starts at 7:30 tonight at the 'new' marquee. ken, where should we all meet? anyone know any decent pubs in/near leicester square?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

On the Barima in London thread Carsmile claims he is meeting Ken and Roxy at the Yorkshire Grey just off Great Portland Street from 5ish.

Also Annie at the Social after! Come along.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

dunno when the hidden cameras set will finish, though. hmmm...

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I can see this thread. What the fuck is going on, though? Carsmile is spreading rumors, etc. I'm so confused. JK, I think we are meeting with Carsmile but I don't know where or when.

I kind of fear garlic and shots as well. Maybe somewhere else unless someone has their heart set. AD YES< Rob, we're totlly still in for the hidden cameras gig.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Carsmile was suggesting you meet him and others (possibly including me) in the Yorkshire Grey pub early (6?)

also, what kind of trousers do you have on?!?!?!?!

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

yorkshire grey mentioned on the other thread (fitzrovia) is not near leicester square, though :(

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

hey let's try meeting up at pubs that don't have the same name in other places k thx bye

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

oh please, it's hardly a long trek ;)

apols for making a decision, i sent ken an email at work, but wasn't sure if he's even at work today...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

and isn't friday at the blue posts? how many of those are there?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

He's not at work, he is right here.

ALSO: also, what kind of trousers do you have on?!?!?!?!

I am wearing off-brand Adidas trackies. Oh, and that was me txting you fro Ken's phone all along.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/FILELOAD?Filename=tfl_41629AA21B.pdf

20 minute walk tops ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, and that was me txting you fro Ken's phone all along.

that's what i told him!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

right. so what's the suggestion for a starting pub other than the garlic and shots?

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, garlic shots might be the one thing that *would* sort me out...

Said indie club is fairly near to the Glasshouse Stores. I might make it to the GHS for a medicinal brandy or something.

Or maybe I'll just hit the Dayquil and start having out of body religious experiences like my mum. (Do they even sell Dayquil in this country? Is it even legal?)

what katie didn't do, Wednesday, 6 October 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, GHS would do. I'm stressed and don't think garlic is the answer. Early doors, people?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

there's no way i'll be there before 7, and 7:30-8 is more likely.

is there any kind of dresscode for this club? i'm assuming not...

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Schmindie. Practice looking coy/aloof.

WTF?? garlic is like the answer to, like, everything!

ah well, i guess we can play bar billiards instead.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I've just been offered a Babyshambles ticket. BWAH HAH HA HAH HAH HAH!!! At the Scala. What do youthink are the chances of My Boyfriend's Junkie Ex Boyfriend actually making it anywhere near a stage in Kings X?

Dress code seems unlikely. And it's free before 11, if memory serves, coz there is no way I'm paying out any more money for clubs this week. Or queueing.

If it's been decided that I am dancing, then it will be decided that the pre-dance pub shall be GHS. I shall have to sneak by my work on the 159 and hope that my boss doesn't go into town after work.

what katie didn't do, Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

yep. GHS it is. woo!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

colette is teh hardcore

Senor Embargo (blueski), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

this thread is so funny.

what's actually happening with doglatin's birthday???? this being like, HIS THREAD AND ALL!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

and this popklinik thing are we still going?

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:40 (twenty-one years ago)

the thread title needs to be changed to say BLUE POSTS NEWMAN ST, FRIDAY NIGHT FROM AS EARLY AS YOU LIKE perhaps...

Senor Embargo (blueski), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

don't know about friday, but tonight we're going to popklinik after the GHS. i printed off several fliers, just in case. mostly to spite my manager, who is trying to make me run around like a madwoman preparing for the meeting, and i just busted her playing solitaire.

xpost

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

excellent!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I've asked a kindly moderator to retitle this thread so it has the Friday details in it.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:47 (twenty-one years ago)

are collette and steve having some sort of "who can go out the most" competition this week or summat?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i think all FAP threads should include 104 exclamation marks in their titles.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Colette's won. Steve is a broken man.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

it's not a competition. it's fun!

i dunno. i just thought that stuff suggested this week sounded fun, so i planned on doing it all. and i seem to be feeling better today than i did yesterday. hopefully i can make it to tomorrow and my quiet night in for a rest.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i would come out tonight but it's the wallet that's groaning not my head - should be out friday tho

Senor Embargo (blueski), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Huh? There's a pint tonight? HUH?

UNORGANISED CHAOTIC FUN HATERS ASSEMBLE HERE FOR DETAILS (anyone)?

Starry (hello chickens), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

tonight. GHS. i think liz will be there early. i'll be there from 8 for sure. then on to dancing. woo. big fun.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i cannot go out tonight. my head hurts. ouch.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

great meeting roxy last night - and barima! and good to see lauren et al too.

the hidden cameras were good, but no theatrics last night. and OMG that venue is horrible. a tip to all - NEVER go to the new and supposedly 'improved' marquee. probably the worst venue experience i have ever had. the entrance was really disorganised, and then you had to go up 3 flights of stairs to get to the venue, and then the dumb unisex-area bathrooms were up another 2 flights - all poorly marked. the whole venue was so stupidly laid out - the stage was right in front of the room doors causing congestion problems, you couldn't hear from the sides, and the sound was crap to boot. and here's the kicker: THEIR BAR DIDN'T WORK! i wanted to get drunk and none of their fucking bar taps were turned on yet. nice opening week party, morons. all they had was becks bottles for £3.50 (!) and this dodgy russian beer for £4 a bottle! WTF!? that is crazy. so marianna and i went hobo-style and snuck out to a budgens and smuggled in 8 cans of kronenbourg! i know that is childish but fuck them - they asked for it. ken & roxy were even less discreet - they went out to another pub, bought big bottles of newcastle brown and walked right back into the marquee without even hiding them. nice work! oh well, the HC were good and we had fun.

i think i was pretty tipsy when i got to the social, though. sorry for any drunken ramblings, if you were subjected to them!

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, Rob, you were on fire. Sorry to hear about the venue, though.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm posting from the Michael Jackson Burn Centre in fact.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, that was the poshest indie club i've ever been to!

it took me a while to figure out the dynamic of the scene, but i'm pretty sure a load of the people were there for a lesbian birthday party. hard to explain, but i'm pretty sure of it.

i got hugged by a girl in a 'naughty nurse' outfit for dancing to matthew sweet.

i stopped to get a sandwich on the way home, and the kid behind me in the queue nearly cost me my extra pickles by somewhat harassing the sandwich artist about giving me more pickles. i had to assure him that i didn't actually know the kid. kid somewhat redeemed himself by asking which course i'd just started. aw.

pretty fun night, overall.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 7 October 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

"Hard to explain" - never!

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Thursday, 7 October 2004 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

>right. so what's the suggestion for a starting pub other than the
>garlic and shots?
>-- colette October 6th, 2004 11:53 AM. (later)

curses. didn't check my email after 10 yesterday (had the day off, birthday and all) so i didn't see this. so, after dinner at The Wag i walked the length of frith street looking for vodka and garlic place. failed. (ended up at virgin in picadilly so was probably 2 minutes from GHS. curses. think i overdid the yasai katsu anyway...)

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 7 October 2004 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, the bittersweet feeling of waking up in the morning and seeing random drunken texts from your friends about how much fun they were having while you were in bed asleep.

I crashed out at about 9.30 last night and am feeling ridiculously chirpy as a result.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 October 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, our (me and gareth) plan to get everyone out dancing by sending texts to loads of people just didn't work. i don't know what he's gotten back, but i've heard from several people that texting inviting people out to dance at 1am is perhaps not the most sensible thing.

whoops! sorry to anyone we woke up.

frith street looking for vodka and garlic place. failed.

well, i guess the bright side for you to look on is that at least you didn't have to sit in the goth-gloom of the g&s alone, wondering where we all were? sorry you missed it, hope you had an ok night anyway!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 7 October 2004 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

what kind of stuff did they play at the club?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Thursday, 7 October 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

You might have had more of a reaction if you'd said "We are in a club dancing with lesbian naughty nurses. Come join us!"

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 October 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, Rob, you were on fire. Sorry to hear about the venue, though.

Hope you enjoyed your drinks!

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Thursday, 7 October 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Mike, I had to watch Troy and The Next Best Thing without you, bastard!

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Thursday, 7 October 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

You might have had more of a reaction if you'd said "We are in a club dancing with lesbian naughty nurses. Come join us!"

i'll try that next time. although i can't really imagine the scenario repeating again anytime soon.

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 7 October 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 7 October 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Roxy looks like the phone box has just told her a clever joke.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 7 October 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

that photo reminds me of the ubiquitous Gareth Staring At Phone With Beer And Fag In Hand pic. all ILXers should now recreate this pose.

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 7 October 2004 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm guessing from the file name that it's a deliberate 'omage.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 7 October 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

also, has that pint been photoshopped in?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 7 October 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 7 October 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

"this dodgy russian beer for £4 a bottle!"

that sounds a bit like baltika. its only dodgy if dodgy means "nicer than pretty much 70% of lagers available at most places in the uk esp becks"

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 7 October 2004 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Aarrrggghghghg. What was I thinking? Twas fun regardless. I think. Sinuses of beer. I can't really remember even being at the dance club, let alone what they played. Was lovely to meet Roxy, though.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

did you remember the Man With The Scarf, kate??

ken c (ken c), Friday, 8 October 2004 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

So I may be getting there stupidly early tonight, considering the library will kick me out at 5.

sgs (sgs), Friday, 8 October 2004 07:55 (twenty-one years ago)

What man with the scarf?

Was that the bloke that I tried to get him to help me get Roxy to dance, and he ended up trying to make out with you (Ken) for the rest of the night? I apologise for that! I am not responsible!

(Gareth caught me dancing to Belle and Suckasstian, I'm still shamed by that.)

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

yes! that's the man with the scarf!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 8 October 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

What is happening this evening?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 8 October 2004 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Was I rolling around on the floor playing air guitar to the Strokes or did I hallucinate that, too?

(Man, I am NEVER EVER EVER mixing booze and cold medication ever again. Note to self: do not snort lemsip.)

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 07:58 (twenty-one years ago)

was this last night ken/kate or wednesday?

sgs, i have work drinks so will not be joining the merry throng this evening, otherwise, yes i'd be there about that time too...

PJ, tonight you go to THE BLUE POSTS, NEWMAN STREET:

http://www.fancyapint.com/main_site/thepubs/pub1.htm

PUB NUMBER 1!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 8 October 2004 07:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, it was "Last Nite" I think. I don't know any other Strokes songs.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Blimey, the pub and its location are in the thread title and still people can't work it out.

Kate, are you talking about last night or Wednesday? (After seeing you dance I wouldn't rule out the rolling round air guitar scenario)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know what night it was. What is today, Friday? Where did Thursday go? Crikey, I seem to have completely slept through yesterday in a cold medication-induced haze.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:04 (twenty-one years ago)

it was wednesday nite steve .. at the POP KLINIK.

i think i actually kinda know the nurse who hugged kate, too (through about 3 degrees of seperation) that was val, right?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I was hugged by a nurse?!?!? When did this happen?

How come I can always remember the crap stuff, but can never remember cool kinky stuff like BEING HUGGED BY LESBIAN NURSES?!?!? Damn that lemsip. It's the cold spoon for me...

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:08 (twenty-one years ago)

STOP CALLING ME STEVE!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, sorry, now I realise. Although I think you touched a nerve there.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i keep mixing everyone up! it was actually colette who got hugged by the nurse!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:20 (twenty-one years ago)

kate rolled around doing guitar-like moves to the strokes. which i didn't especially want to dance to, but i didn't want to abandon kate to her, um, abandon.

i did a rockstar kick at the end of 'sick of myself,' intended to get roxy to dance, and i think that's what earned me the hug.

i really wish we'd had some of the birthday cake. it looked yummy.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt, I'm not completely totally 100% thick, I was:

a) wondering who would be there early doors (the Popkins massive?)

and

b) angling for a map from Carsmile ;-)

I doubt I'll be there, because I have 'WORK', but it's good to BE PREPARED.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 8 October 2004 08:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you, Ken, but Carsmile had already done it, sort of. It involved another click, but I persevered.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 8 October 2004 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be there early - about 5.30, I think.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 8 October 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think PJM is 100% thick, and I'm sorry if that's what he thought.

I'll be there about 7.30. I can't vouch for the Hopkinistas as they've been quiet of late.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 October 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

New lady: butbut, i thought you were so NORMAL...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

More fun:

DL: Darling, these are my friends. The only friends I have in the world.
New Lady: You loser.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

You know our kids won't even think of dating anyone until they've chatted to them online, right?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

DL: let us go to london for my birthday, it will be great

NL: why, yes, what a lovely idea

DL: yes, we can sit in the pub all weekend and you can meet 30 people i've only talked to through a computer before, it'll be AMAZING

NL: [faints]

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

is he bringing the new ladee down with him?

oh, i fear for their relationship!

(my until-recently-a-spectre ex and his almost-amusingly-but-actually-getting-annoyingly-persistant friend want to come out, as well. i think this is a VERY BAD IDEA)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Sic me on him. Bwah hah hah hah!

(Wait, what am I talking about? I have rehearsal tonight, hence the midweek madness.)

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

is he bringing the new ladee down with him?

oh, i fear for their relationship!

Colette, I think you should at least wait to see if DL's relationship works out before puncing on him!

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

pOuncing. And that gows for you too, Kate.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

goEs. Gah, 1 pint at lunchtime...

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I was talking about Colette's irritating Ex, not DL! Sheesh!

I like DL, I have more respect for him than to pounce on him!

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I really hope he's showing his new lady this and if so HI DOGLATIN'S GIRLFRIEND!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i wasn't planning on pouncing on DL. more like avoiding todd's friend. seriously, how many times do i have to ignore his texts before he gets the clue?

kate-- when are you finished tonight? i can hook you up with todd and you can share stories about being in bands. wait, what am i saying? you can sit and try to tell him about your band and he'll talk over you and laugh at all his own jokes! wow! great fun! woo!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I am truly sorry DL!!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Thankfully, I don't finish rehearsal until 11pm. Heh heh.

Share stories? I had more in the mind of shouting him down and smacking him about.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm. as long as he got to have some 'todd time' as part of the deal, he'd probably be ok with that...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Incidentally DL if you are reading this you would make me a very happy man if you could provide me with a copy of that tune of yours you played in the Glasto beer tent. In return I will help you on the path to alcoholic nirvana.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly doesn't feel like coming

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Do I dare ask what "Todd Time" is?

(I once dated a bloke called Todd for about five minutes back in the 80s. And then I found out he was a rent boy and his nickname was "Toddsie The Prossie" ...)

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve, do you mean he's been whacking off all through the thread and Matt DC's just harshed his cock-on? Meh, it happens.

Danger Whore (kate), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not sure if 'todd time' actually ever existed, or if it's part of the legend in my head, but it is something he may have said he needed towards the end of the relationship

(i chucked him while i was walking around home depot and he was in new york for an interview, by the way. he totally deserved it. and we got some kickass astroturf for our back porch party, as a result)

colette (a2lette), Friday, 8 October 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure if I'm going to make this or not - I have a housewarming party to go to later, so I might come in for a pint around 7, depending on what I do after work.

the bellefox, Saturday, 9 October 2004 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi, I'm so so so sorry I didn't make the FAP!! The trains were fucked all the way home from work (double fatality on the line) and I didn't get home till 8pm and once I'd gone to get the train to London they were all being cancelled so I don't even think I'd have made last orders. Fucking WAGN trains and fucking suiciders spoiling my FAP! Gah!

For a second when I saw this thread revived, I completely illogically got excited because I thought it meant I was coming back to London.

(although I have been checking Travelocity this morning for stuff around early March ;)

But somehow, I don't think an attackboris is very cheery.

one year passes...

Hi! For my 30th (yes, I know) this year, I'm putting on a gig/club/party night in my home town of Hitchin, Herts on the 9th October. Any ilxors who would dare risk straying out so close to Stevenage and would like an invite please let me know and I will add you to the (cheap-but-not-quite-free) entry list (won't be more than a quid or two). Would be nice to see you. My address is doglatin AT gee mail dot com.

"upthread girl"

^ sarcasm (ken c), Friday, 4 October 2013 12:20 (twelve years ago)

Upthread girl
She's been living in her upthread world
I bet she never had a flag post guy
I bet her mama never told her why

I'm gonna try for an upthread girl
She's been living in her TITTWIS world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now she's looking for a zing crew man
That's what I am
