Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 01:48 (twenty years ago)

haitch™ (haitch), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:03 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:05 (twenty years ago)

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:13 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:22 (twenty years ago)

*hugz to trayce!*

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:23 (twenty years ago)

So, whats everyone up to for xmas eve/xmas day/boxing day etc?

We have to go to Nick's olds for xmas day aaargh. I'd hoped for a quiet one with him alone but no!

I'd love to have a riverside picnic on boxing day. If only Melbourne had any rivers worth swimming in. We used to go to the Cotter River on boxing day... its all burnt to the ground now :/ Well, not the river itself obv, haha.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:29 (twenty years ago)

sorry i didn't get back to you the other day trayce. i didn't have my phone with me all weekend. i hope you had a good day.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:30 (twenty years ago)

Thats ok! It was so hot, not many people swung by but that was ok. I got way too drunk, as per bloody usual, and we ate shitloads and watched Pi and took the piss out of Missy Higgins on Rage.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:31 (twenty years ago)

Hahaha, Missy Higgins, hahahah!

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:41 (twenty years ago)

Who's that young slip of a girl with the harp? She's the best thing since Kate Bush.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:42 (twenty years ago)

HAHAHAHA, JOANNA NEWSOM, HAHAHAHAHA!

She terrifies me.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:44 (twenty years ago)

Missy Higgins is a limp ballsack.

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:44 (twenty years ago)

Isn't she just?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:45 (twenty years ago)

This Joanna Newsom, is she terrifying like Marrisa Marchant is terrifying, then? =)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:48 (twenty years ago)

haha yeah i too came home pissed on saturday night to missy higgins and her annoying necklace programming rage. i took the piss out of her to the telly for quite a while i think.

i can only handle joanna newsom's voice in moderation

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:50 (twenty years ago)

She's like Kristin Hersh a bit. Anyway I think she's GRAYTE.

Missy Higgins is OK, she really should look after her piano better in that clip though.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:51 (twenty years ago)

If she's like Hersh I'd be interested.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:52 (twenty years ago)

she had a tops gillian welch song in her playlist, i liked that.

i totally love the harp in ms newsom's music, and the lyrics, 'tis only her voice that annoys me. i dunno if i could listen to a whole album. but i do like the title of her latest release.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 02:53 (twenty years ago)

At last I get to post my thread about Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. I've had that one on the backburner for over a week.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:07 (twenty years ago)

i almost made that remark on the thread itrself

bulbs (bulbs), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:07 (twenty years ago)

I am getting hopelessly drunk on Xmas day, gorging myself on the fine foods only melbourne can provide and having turducken for xmas lunch. Can't wait.

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:21 (twenty years ago)

TURDUCKEN! Wow. That stuff looks insane.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:25 (twenty years ago)

there's a whole thread on turducken somewhere in this bitch.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:25 (twenty years ago)

y'all got TURDUCKEN down there now, too?!? jesus!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:25 (twenty years ago)

Okay, that picture has seriously just turned me off having any.

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:26 (twenty years ago)

i know that we've had turducken threads before on ILX ... i've never eaten from this legendary, um, "bird," but those who have swear by it!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:26 (twenty years ago)

I used to get it confused with the diametrically opposed 'tofurkey'.

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:27 (twenty years ago)

Yeah it was that other thread what learned me about it. I mean I like the idea of meat meat and more meat with stuffing. But I know I couldnt eat much of it.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:35 (twenty years ago)

turducken

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 03:36 (twenty years ago)

at my job, the amount of work i've had has slowed to nil, they're moving us to a different, inferior building in a cruddy part of the city, and as of today they blocked mono/m+n. the amount of loyalty i feel is approaching zero, and now that i won't have a mortgage in five weeks' time i fail to see why the fuck i should stay.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:07 (twenty years ago)

time to find a nicer place.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:11 (twenty years ago)

agreed. i've hated it here for months now, and this was the final straw...

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:12 (twenty years ago)

what sort of areas are you interested in working in?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:13 (twenty years ago)

Start a record label!

I'll be yr admin assistant =)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:14 (twenty years ago)

i'd still like to be able to eat!

i'll work in any area, really. i'm a QA tester and that's the only thing i'm particularly skilled at (i.e. the only area i could make decent money in) but the industry is largely irrelevant..

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:19 (twenty years ago)

i just informed our DG (half an hour ago) that i'm leaving work in feb to return to full time studies!! i thought i'd feel hugely relieved and excited but i actually feel really scared and nervous about whether i'm making the right decision.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:31 (twenty years ago)

not me, I'm quite happy in this here rut thankyou!

haitch™ (haitch), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:32 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, me too. This is the best rut I've ever been in.

We'll all float on ok.

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:33 (twenty years ago)

Float! Float on
Float on, float on...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 05:34 (twenty years ago)

i'm sure once i get accustomed to my new rut i'll like it too. it's just the period between crawling out of this one and stumbling into the next that's daunting.

I moved to Richmond recently. It is pleasant. Walking to the supermarket is fun. We bought IKEA. Now that we are settled I am to resume drinking and partying down.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 23 December 2004 23:05 (twenty years ago)

gem (trisk), Friday, 24 December 2004 01:42 (twenty years ago)

it's a slooooooooooow one here today. consequently I'm clearing up work that's been hanging around for ages! we get a BBQ at 3-ish too, which is nice.

haitch™ (haitch), Friday, 24 December 2004 02:35 (twenty years ago)

gem (trisk), Friday, 24 December 2004 03:25 (twenty years ago)

19th day in a row! Blimey gem I hope you have lots of hols on the horizon!

I left work at 12... handed in my security card, said bye to the few people around and slunk off... like I like to go :)

Me and Nick have just exchanged pressies so now he's attempting to play GAT:SA and getting frustrated nyehehe. I scored the Cooks Companion and TRIV! And an adorable stuffed puppy toy... so I'm a happy girly.

Merry wossames, all of yers!

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 24 December 2004 05:17 (twenty years ago)

Hey Merry Christmas you lame fucks! Kisses!

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 24 December 2004 07:18 (twenty years ago)

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 24 December 2004 09:06 (twenty years ago)

merry xmas o ye sheepfuxors and mongrels

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 24 December 2004 19:25 (twenty years ago)

Is anyone watching Channel 7? Some Assemblies of God church here in Melbourne is doing their big christmas concert - fuck, it must have a million dollar budget and the hall is massive. It's slightly sickmaking!

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 24 December 2004 23:48 (twenty years ago)

Drunk, full of turducken, sleepy, happy.

It's the most I could've hoped for.

papa november (papa november), Saturday, 25 December 2004 08:20 (twenty years ago)

So you had the turducken? Was it nice?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 26 December 2004 22:05 (twenty years ago)

a merry christmas to you all.

a lightning strike dissolved my modem.

bulbs (bulbs), Monday, 27 December 2004 08:14 (twenty years ago)

Man that sucks Gaz.

The Turducken was yummo Col. It was enough to turn my vegetarian other half temporarily carnivorous.

The gravy was a strange consistency, but I think that was because it comprised of about 80% turducken fat.

papa november (papa november), Monday, 27 December 2004 20:46 (twenty years ago)

Um, yeah.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:11 (twenty years ago)

Mine was decidedly painful.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:12 (twenty years ago)

Eh, xmas usually is innit? Actually this year mine was not bad, except for the annoying having to train it out to Mt Waverly bit.

My TV has been stolened so someone can play GTA:SA!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:37 (twenty years ago)

still? chiz.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:38 (twenty years ago)

mine was surprisingly unpainful this year! i can hardly believe it, i really quite enjoyed myself.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:39 (twenty years ago)

Jim: heh, again more like it! Sorry if last night was boring... should have stuck with the Futurama ;)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:43 (twenty years ago)

Whoo Futurama!

I got 3 and 4 of The Simpsons so I'm a bit on overload atm.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:45 (twenty years ago)

Did I mention a mate of mine said he has EVERY GOODIES EPISODE on vcd files he is gonna give me? Like 16gb worth!!! =)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:54 (twenty years ago)

Did he mention that you're going to give me a copy as well?

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:57 (twenty years ago)

Seriously, I will PAY you for the privilege to get a copy of those fuckers. I have 99% of the episodes on VHS [LP format] and they're nasty quality.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 04:58 (twenty years ago)

Heh, well I'm going to get a copy to my HDD so yeah sure - I dontknow about the quality of these but assume theyre taped off tv and converted. not sure.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 05:12 (twenty years ago)

That'll do me innit.

Did I mention I'm seeing them LIVE in March?

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 05:23 (twenty years ago)

You going to that then? I thought about it but I dunno. I suppose its sold out now knowing my luck.

I am very glad to be hearing christmas is a miserable time in your sun drenched carefree land. for myself i sacrificed my aunt fostrand's goat emily in the wind swept tundra alone and without laughter. it was fortunate her blood was warm or i should perhaps not have staggered theough the ice blizzard to Olaf's cabin to open the single present passed on to me: Falstrom's teeth in a small jar of falmaldehyde. I am to keep these to safeguard the future of my own mouth with this endowment. I thanks you Janne however for the card which came in useful firstly in breaking into the cabin and thence in starting the fire - which i fled warmed in my newly scabbed goats blood facepaint to the local tavern for some fighting and ale.

Sami Jheryllkanyga, Wednesday, 29 December 2004 05:49 (twenty years ago)

You drink ale? Cobblers.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 05:52 (twenty years ago)

I drink what it is i can get at such times

Sami Jherylkanyga, Wednesday, 29 December 2004 05:58 (twenty years ago)

Trayce please don't forget your promise about the futurama ;)

bulbs (bulbs), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 06:00 (twenty years ago)

Of course Sami drink ale Adam. What is wrong with you? Are you drinking unmanly drinks, such as maybe white wine spritzer? Had I a soul, it would pity you.

Janne Karlsson, Wednesday, 29 December 2004 10:24 (twenty years ago)

adam drinks PERNOD!!

haitch™ (haitch), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 10:40 (twenty years ago)

Now Pernod is a most sophisticated drink. I am a martini man myself. Vodka martinis.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 20:53 (twenty years ago)

*wakes up*

Oh blimey gaz, I was gonna copy you some of it wasntt I? Was I?

Hang on... how am I going to do this without a dvd burner? What was I on?

I tried a martini once... I figured I love gin, so it had to be good right? Well I hate olives so you do the math... blerrgh. In the same vein I love tomato juice, and vodka, but bloody marys suck arse.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 30 December 2004 01:06 (twenty years ago)

i hate tomato juice but love bloody marys. i also love martinis though.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 30 December 2004 01:24 (twenty years ago)

I wonder what a V8 bloody mary would taste like?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 30 December 2004 01:24 (twenty years ago)

healthy!

i could go a frozen margharita but other than that i'll stick with ale beer.

bulbs (bulbs), Thursday, 30 December 2004 05:00 (twenty years ago)

haitch™ (haitch), Thursday, 30 December 2004 05:27 (twenty years ago)

haitch™ (haitch), Thursday, 30 December 2004 05:41 (twenty years ago)

excellent...was it the music or the burn he was declaring shit?

and, uh, whats yer e-addy?

Trayce: he had a beard!!!

bulbs (bulbs), Thursday, 30 December 2004 05:49 (twenty years ago)

are you all too hungover to post?

happy new year!

bulbs (bulbs), Monday, 3 January 2005 07:51 (twenty years ago)

Happy NY. Funhouse is a fine record. And speaking of the excellent one trick pony that was the Ramones, who saw Rage, featuring a Countdown episode hosted by them???

music mole, Monday, 3 January 2005 11:26 (twenty years ago)

not me.

my 2005 is so far shit. we have just over two weeks to find a new flat and move into it, our fridge busted on new years day and can't be fixed til tomorrow, i am lonely, and my bandmates have their hearts set on playing a gig in chch in 10 days which i am not in the mood to do (HAVE TO FIND A FUCKING FLAT!!!) but i will feel MEAN and HORRIBLE if i say no.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 3 January 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

I love those old Countdown episodes on Rage. They had The Knack on this one time as guest hosts!

Actually that's a good segue to a kinda WTF moment I had on NYE - I was killing time waiting for my friends at Fed Square where they were having a free concert, and the Cat Empire broke out of one of their own oompah-ska songs and into a note-perfect rendition of "My Sharona"!

haitch™ (haitch), Monday, 3 January 2005 23:07 (twenty years ago)

Argh Hayden, we were at that concert! The guy next to us said 'omg they're doing it without guitars,' was that you?

That 'opposite sex' thread is destined to be a classic btw.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 3 January 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

Oh and we saw that Countdown episode, but we hate The Ramones so we watched Guthy-Renker instead.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 3 January 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

As you do.

Hi everyone! I had a dreadful, sleep/dream/hallucinate/nightmare nights sleep! Thanks, thunderstorm! I still feel really disoriented! Argh.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 January 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

I also managed to cut the top off my thumb making dinner last night. Ow. "What a thrill/my thumb instead of an onion" etc etc.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 January 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

Ow. How much?

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 3 January 2005 23:38 (twenty years ago)

Not much, I'm being a wuss, but its in the way so I keep hitting it trying to open things/use things and I have no bloody band aids do I?

Whinge whinge.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 January 2005 23:40 (twenty years ago)

WAIT! Let me call a waaambulance.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 3 January 2005 23:41 (twenty years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 January 2005 23:44 (twenty years ago)

No.

haitch™ (haitch), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 00:08 (twenty years ago)

Ah, I didn't think you'd dyed your hair brown and put on 200 kilos.

Trayce, you want to do that Pause thing this week?

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 03:52 (twenty years ago)

Sure, as long as we do it today or tomorrow! I'm going to Canberra on Thursday y'see. Only for t'weekend though. Maybe we can go tomorrow afternoon or something?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 04:01 (twenty years ago)

Or if not that, then early next week... its not as if I've anything else to do at the moment :(

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 04:02 (twenty years ago)

Tomorrow afternoon is good for me. Today would be okay too but I think the afternoon's kind of gone. :)

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 04:07 (twenty years ago)

It's only 3pm! Geez! ;) But it is a bit rainy and shit.

Me speek good engerlish todaye.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 04:08 (twenty years ago)

We can do today if you want. I'm not getting anything done today anyway...

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 04:09 (twenty years ago)

Well is it still raining? Stuff it if it is ;) God I'm lazy. I could proabably lean out my window and see your flat from here hah.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 04:18 (twenty years ago)

It is still raining. I think I might play with my camera for a while. Which reminds me, I did want to buy a new one...

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 04:27 (twenty years ago)

God yeah you probably could actually. How close are you to the Telstra thingo?

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 04:28 (twenty years ago)

The exchange? Its across the road and about 5 or 6 flats down, I guess? I'm closer to that little milk bar, and on that side of t'street.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 05:12 (twenty years ago)

Ah. Well we're right behind the exchange.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 05:21 (twenty years ago)

oh right! what in the HELL is that thing being build behind it, anyhow? Flats?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 05:26 (twenty years ago)

More exchange. They sit out there banging and playing loud music all day. Fortunately I'm in an alcove and can't really hear it, but I wish they'd hurry up and finish the fucken thing.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 January 2005 06:03 (twenty years ago)

Oh, so to give you some perspective, when I stand on our back stairwell, I can see (a) your street through the flats-nextdoor-to-the-exchange's driveway, and (b) the exchange.

Yep.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 09:31 (twenty years ago)

I wouldn't have done today anyway, didn't feel too well. Kept getting nauseous and spontaneously falling asleep and stuff.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 09:31 (twenty years ago)

Heh, yr as bad as me!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 09:37 (twenty years ago)

Hah! I don't ever experience either of those things, so today was a bit weird. I think my fractured/sprained wrist had something to do with it, along with the fact that I broke out in about 60,000,000 pimples all over my body, that all disappeared sometime this afternoon.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 10:51 (twenty years ago)

Wait, you broke yr wrist? When did that happen?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

Hey, my face looks like i've got some kind of shrapnel blast issue going on. Too much good Melbourne food I think. I knew that Turducken was a mistake....oh and the entire wheel of double brie I bought (No, I didn't consume the whole lot by myself :)

papa november (papa november), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 12:30 (twenty years ago)

Ooh lordy I would have! Mmm brie.. food of the gods.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 12:45 (twenty years ago)

papa november (papa november), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 12:48 (twenty years ago)

Oh how charming of her :/

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 12:50 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, she's real sensitive-like.

papa november (papa november), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

Wow, the cheek. Did you hang up on her?

Wait, you broke yr wrist? When did that happen?

Dunno. The other day it just started hurting like buggery and clicking/scraping every time I twisted it.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 23:50 (twenty years ago)

Nah, I'm used to her by now. I just agree and change the subject.

papa november (papa november), Thursday, 6 January 2005 00:49 (twenty years ago)

Adam are you finding everything is going out of whack like that? Partic on one side? Like, Im getting that jaw clicking you are, on the left side, and also my left shoulder is still totally stuffed... I am starting to wonder if I'm all lopsided and somehow throwing all my joints out of whack. Maybe you are too innit. Its our damn feet you know.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 6 January 2005 01:20 (twenty years ago)

Curse being a piscean.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 6 January 2005 01:20 (twenty years ago)

One side? Yeah, definitely. The jaw thing has ceased [getting out of that last crap job would have done it], but my right hand, right finger [tendonitis?] and right foot are all mentalist at the moment, as is the muscle I pulled on the right hand side of my back due to a dislocated joint in my back.

Fuck, what a year. And it's only the 6th ffs.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 6 January 2005 01:27 (twenty years ago)

Oh and I'm Piscean also, though I've no idea what your fishiness has to do with asymmetric complaints.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 6 January 2005 01:28 (twenty years ago)

Nah its the feet, pisceans are supposed to be riddled with foot problems, apprently. Not that I really believe that stuff but it is curious that I am.

Pash between the lines honey read my lips
can you read my mind dig my finger tips
I really like to just hang around
crawl back into bed where its nice and warm

Luck fell in my lap when you walked my way
part of your tender trap
yes Im willing prey
I really love to speak in tongue crawl into your mouth
thats where I belong, passionate kisses
kiss me, kiss me, kiss me

Oooh oooh oooh
Im on fire when you love me
kiss me passionately
pash me, pash me, pash me

Pash beneath the signs of a neon mall
lost between the now and the human sprawl
We really love to just hang around
even if theres nothing really happening

Passionate kisses
kiss me, kiss me, kiss me

Oooh oooh oooh

Passionate kisses

Please help... I am stuck in Queanbeyan on a shitty pc that has a half broken mouse with NO SCROLLY WHEEL and only 96mb ram and win98 so it runs like crap and the dialup is slow. Frustratiiiing.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 7 January 2005 12:15 (twenty years ago)

Our scrolly wheel mouse broke shortly before we left for Melbourne. So naturally the new scrolly wheel mouse we bought to replace it is on Darren's PC and mine has the shitty logitech POS with no bleedin' scroll wheel.

Condolences about being stuck in Queanbeyan. As a youngster I had to attend more summernat's than I care to remember in Canberra.

papa november (papa november), Friday, 7 January 2005 12:21 (twenty years ago)

Ah summernats. Mmm. When I was living in Lyneham I was across the road from a petrol station just in a bit from the main drag so all these dickheads would be hooning around outside our house all weekend... sucked.

I am going to go to bed and read my Michael Moore book now.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 7 January 2005 12:28 (twenty years ago)

crikey hot cross buns in january! that would send me spiralling into a terrible state of confusion too. maybe the world is trying to cram easter and christmas into one superholiday? reduce the number and therefore pain of family gettogethers?

I got drunk on Christmas Day and nearly called a large amount of my relatives a bunch of racists!!

that has happened to me before, except i actually did call them racists. i think i also added the word "bigotry" quite a bit. the outcome wasn't pretty. the dust has only just settled, several years later. sometimes i think i must be adopted .

gem (trisk), Monday, 10 January 2005 07:12 (twenty years ago)

Of course I undid all this last night with half a pack of smokes and god knows how much wine and today I feel like shit. Hangovers in this heat are Not Good. I think I'll stick to the health kick. I need to lose weight anyhow.

No, you know, when you go into a pharmacy and want some tablets but ask for the cheaper pharmacy brand.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 13 January 2005 06:42 (twenty years ago)

like a generic version of roger henley. the eye doc can't get them in for you trayce? because i reckon they are pretty reasonably priced. and even though they're plastic, i've had mine for two and a half years and they're still fine, not broken or stretched or crooked. although my head is crooked so they look a bit wonky. i don't think any brand of specs can fix that though.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 13 January 2005 06:43 (twenty years ago)

I could ask him I guess... mine does a 2 yr warranty on all their frames so I'd prefer to get them there rather than say opsm... but they tend to only sell xpensiv0r stuff like D&G and that.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 13 January 2005 08:14 (twenty years ago)

Telstra have called me four times in the last week wishing to win back our business. They keep referring to me by my husbands name. As in Mrs. Joy and I correct them telling them it's O'Brien (because i kept my own surname)and then they get all confused. So if they get past that they ask me when he'll be home from work and I say after 6. So they never call then, they ring back again during the day....when he isn't home and do they whole thing again. Today they woke me up asking for 'the account holder'. To which I replied, he isn't home, call back after six. I'm usually extremely polite and courteous, even to annoying people on the phone trying to sell me stuff, but if they call back tomorrow and do the same thing again I am seriously going to lose it.

he has also quit politics altogether. i feel for him on a personal level, it is poor luck and unfortunate timing for him to be ill and pancreatitis is pretty debilitating. but politically the labor party is perceived to be imploding rapidly, he was forced to quit really.

yep kate we have an election coming up, expected to be called in the next day or so. i work as a policy advisor and my job is pretty political and likely to disappear/change irrevocably if our state labor govt is not re-elected, hence my concern.

Really? Cause you're walking everywhere?

I got an eyetoy for christmas, my embarassing dancing to the "groove" games is hopefully going to help my weight fly off.

I give Private Dancer a whole new meaning.

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:19 (twenty years ago)

'groove' games?

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:21 (twenty years ago)

Yeah.

I come from a family that expresses love through food. Loads of it.

Now I've moved, we eat plenty of salads, simple, healthy meals and avoid too much wheat and dairy.

Also, yeah, everything's too close to bother driving. Plenty of walkin' about with the iPod.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:22 (twenty years ago)

Kind of like dance dance revolution Gem.

x-post

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:24 (twenty years ago)

Also, Richmond is way hilly.

I should get eyetoy too, I could use the moves.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:25 (twenty years ago)

I reckon he's sicker than hes letting on, somehow.

Definitely. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually died soon; pancreatitis can be life-threatening, apparently.

a highly conservative coalition which has committed to repeal reform to gay and lesbian legislation

Can someone please kill all conservatives who stay with the party knowing this shit is going on? Seriously?

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:26 (twenty years ago)

I always do way more walking when I'm in melbourne, which is just as well as the food is delish down there. Perhaps the biggest reason is that when I go down to Melbourne, my car is up here in Brisbane, however I think we will probably hire one next time, as we need to do some real estate scouting.

Trayce, it's lots of fun. Kind of dopey unless you're actually playing but helps with hand-eye coordination. I think I may actually learn to dance with this thing!

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:26 (twenty years ago)

Well we have a ps2 now, and Im always sayin I think ill get aerobics DVDs so stuff that, an eye toy would be funner! The neighbours can point and laff.

Dude, I hope Latham doesnt die! :( That would be awful. Imagine how all those dicks like Gerard Henderson with their "LAtham youre a lazy liar come back and talk about the tsunami!" would feel tho.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:28 (twenty years ago)

I considered getting an Eye Toy for fitness reasons, but ultimately I decided to join my local gym instead. Fuck am I glad I did that.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:30 (twenty years ago)

Trust me, i don't even want to go to gym anymore now i have this. You can kind of forget you're excercising :)

I don't want latham to die either, but i do love kim beazley

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:31 (twenty years ago)

I don't get why so many people hate Beazley. Yes he's like a car salesman, but at least he hasn't killed anyone yet.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:33 (twenty years ago)

Kim Beazley is big and sexxxy!

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 04:33 (twenty years ago)

i've had to work with kb a few times over the last year or two on projects in his electorate. i have infinitely more respect for him than any other politician i've dealt with.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 05:54 (twenty years ago)

Can I ask why? Or is that confidential? :)

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 06:01 (twenty years ago)

why i respect him? he knows everything there is to know about his constituents and how to lobby for the things they need. his electorate is a really poor area of outer metro perth, he himself says it is like 1950s australia there. they have huge unemployment and their demographic is triangular towards the bottom, i.e. the population growth is massive compared to the rest of the metro area and a huge proportion are currently aged 0-4 years. however there is a significant lack of planning and funding for the area, resulting in inadequate health and education and other social services there. it is an unbelievably safe labor seat at both state and fed level so no one wants to give them any money. anyways, he always comes up with ways and means of going in to bat for them on the planning and development front. if parliament is not sitting (i.e. so he is in perth) he's never too busy to show to meetings and stuff. also he's just generally incredibly bright and personable, approachable and with an intellect like you wouldn't believe.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 06:06 (twenty years ago)

I think he meant why did you end up working with him on those projects, but i could be wrong.

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 06:08 (twenty years ago)

ohhhh. ummmm he was a member of a premier's taskforce that i was exec officer to.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 06:10 (twenty years ago)

Well what you wrote to start with is nice anyway. It's nice to have it confirmed that he is as nice as he appears to be.

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 06:13 (twenty years ago)

oops, i said nice a few too many times in that sentence didn't i?

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 06:14 (twenty years ago)

hehe. maybe. but he is nice.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 06:16 (twenty years ago)

Fantastic. I'm definitely impressed.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 06:26 (twenty years ago)

I've only ever met two Federal MPs. One, a Queensland Labor one who may be running for deputy, is infinitely more charming in real life than on TV, the other, a SA Liberal one, has the most gorgeous home on the beach and was very jovial. Kim = great.

edward o (edwardo), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 07:26 (twenty years ago)

I've met Kevin Rudd a number of times. He's a very nice guy, incredibly funny. He'd have a great job in stand-up if he ever packed in the political thing.

He was telling me last year at an opening about the time he was doing some translation work for the chinese government (when he was a lot younger) and accidently used a word he thought meant "really overjoyed" but actually meant "orgasmic pleasure" at some offical dinner. Apparently everyone was stony-faced, and then someone lost it and the whole place started laughing at his accidental blunder.

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 07:30 (twenty years ago)

I have to admit that when Beazley was defence minister things seemed cool, though maybe that was easy at the time as things were cool anyway.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 08:05 (twenty years ago)

accidently used a word he thought meant "really overjoyed" but actually meant "orgasmic pleasure"

'I'm absolutely creaming to be here tonight'

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 08:22 (twenty years ago)

It was actually something about trade relations between australia and china apparently.

papa november (papa november), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 08:29 (twenty years ago)

hahaha Almy

thee music mole, Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:01 (twenty years ago)

I think that would be a closer trading relationship than they envisaged.

thee music mole, Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

I started a new blog a few weeks ago that I deliberately made sure was ungoogleable. The stat counter shows one person has visited it so far - for a total of 0 seconds.

thee music mole, Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:13 (twenty years ago)

Aw. Link?

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:13 (twenty years ago)

I stayed up until 1am to see the stupid fucking Aurora Australis and couldn't see a fucking thing. Now I'm wrecked.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:14 (twenty years ago)

I call bullshit on events of stronomical significance. When people are screaming and running down the streets, that's when I'll stay up to look into the night sky.

No Adam, I won't provide the link because now I sort of like the idea of writing a huge blog which no-one ever discovers.

Hmmm I appear to have been practising my thread pachinko technique on ILM.

thee music mole, Wednesday, 19 January 2005 08:34 (twenty years ago)

I HATE waiting to hear about a job. Aargh. I have to wait over a week to hear about this one, and at best there's a 50% chance I'll get it anyway. AAAGH.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

HI DERE

col that new Kraftwerk story thread is hilarious!

haitch™ (haitch), Wednesday, 19 January 2005 23:56 (twenty years ago)

20 minutes after the interview for this job they called me and told me I had it. brisk!

haitch™ (haitch), Thursday, 20 January 2005 00:00 (twenty years ago)

Fuck! What's the job?

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 00:44 (twenty years ago)

Congrats H!

Man I probably should think about looking for work soon... I allowed myself all of january off resting though so I'm not panicking yet.

My new glasses are in, hurray! I just need to go in and decide if I want the browny ones or the reddish/burgundy ones, then they'll put my lenses in.

Time for a hott new red haircut and stuff to go with, methinks.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 00:46 (twenty years ago)

[xpost] Oh, your current one? Okay.

This one, it's with a government department that's having to cut through loads of red tape. I'm waiting for all that to go through before there's a second interview. I don't know what chance I've got, apart from the fact that I know I'll be bloody good at the job.

Trayce: PICS ffs [when you get them obv]

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 00:46 (twenty years ago)

Pics indeed!

Or heres a shocker of an idea - you could meet up with me for a coffee OMGWTFLOL ;)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)

Ooh youre after a govt job? I'm... reluctant to go back down that path even though Ive seen a few govt jobs I could apply for in recent months. I dontknow... my time at foreign affairs really burned me out. Mind you, the first job I had there (in the diplomatic mail centre) was ace fun, we just listened to hardcore and 4AD tapes all day long and fucked about sorting mail. I miss those guys.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 00:49 (twenty years ago)

thanks haitch! It almost makes up for the Rob Halford script debacle.

thee music mole, Thursday, 20 January 2005 01:32 (twenty years ago)

congrats on the new job offer too.

thee music mole, Thursday, 20 January 2005 01:38 (twenty years ago)

I hate dying my hair.... I got red stains all over my arms... argh.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 03:34 (twenty years ago)

Aurora Australis = tonight.

And get away from the city.

Sasha (sgh), Thursday, 20 January 2005 03:43 (twenty years ago)

Oh god what, again!? I keep missing them and this is like the fourth time there's been one in 2 years. Argh dammit dammit why do I not have a car???? Oh wait I don't drive.

Man... so wish I could see this.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 04:43 (twenty years ago)

Or heres a shocker of an idea - you could meet up with me for a coffee OMGWTFLOL ;)

Ahaha, I was thinking that just before. How's early next week?

Ooh youre after a govt job?

Contracting. If it's shit I can move on. :)

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:04 (twenty years ago)

Ah contracts... wise :D

Yeah next week sounds good. Lets do this thing finally, this is getting silly!

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:05 (twenty years ago)

Yeah definitely. I've got Wednesday and Thursday free SO FAR.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:10 (twenty years ago)

Sounds cool wit me.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:16 (twenty years ago)

Awright, we do it then then.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:22 (twenty years ago)

Fast-forward to next Wednesday...

Adam: "whoops, I can't make it, I've inadvertently eaten a can of paint by mistake."

haitch™ (haitch), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:28 (twenty years ago)

Eh?

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:30 (twenty years ago)

I don't pull out of things last minute! I just refuse from the outset.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:31 (twenty years ago)

no, I mean you seem to have strange accidents of late!

haitch™ (haitch), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:33 (twenty years ago)

Hah! Yes that's true. This morning I cut my finger open on a sellotape dispenser.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:35 (twenty years ago)

Wednesday's out.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 05:45 (twenty years ago)

Haw!

Saturday is probly out as my friend Liv is down from Siidernee but hey I have some time tomoz, is that not an option?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 06:32 (twenty years ago)

bulbs (bulbs), Thursday, 20 January 2005 06:38 (twenty years ago)

Anyway I reckon Ads is making excuses to meet me because I smell or something =)

xpost heh gaz.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 06:38 (twenty years ago)

Tomrrow's tight, got appointments all over the place and got to get my job hunting in somewhere in the middle. Sorry. :(

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 06:50 (twenty years ago)

Thats cool, just throwing it out there ;)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 06:52 (twenty years ago)

Ja.

Wednesday's a holiday!

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 20 January 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

It is?! Oh blimey so it is. Heh. I wonder if Pause will be open?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 20 January 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

hello i'm back at work.

sucks. i might have a cry.

bulbs (bulbs), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:17 (twenty years ago)

I started poking around on job websites and have had a sinking feeling that what I did afore was kind of odd, and I dont know how to apply it to roles advertised online. Everything listed seems hard or like Id not be qualified.. maybe I'm underselling myself I dunno. This is scary!

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:27 (twenty years ago)

i can relate. if i left here i'd be...what? was what you did really odd? did you think so at thetime?

bulbs (bulbs), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

job hunting is scary. i'm not looking forward to it but it has to be done.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:30 (twenty years ago)

Well no not really, it was a mishmash of things, is all. I did data entry, I did customer service (followup "is everythign installed and working? ok good have a nice time" sort of calls), dealing with telstra and optus and stuff, ordering domains from melbIT, writing training documentation, helpdesk work (tho I am NOT DOING TECH HELPDESK EVER AGAIN).

I dont know if i want to do that stuff anymore... Im all awash.

xpost you gonna pike from yr job then Jim?

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:31 (twenty years ago)

oh yes. if i stay here much longer i will completely forget such concepts as 'happiness' and 'life '.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

I started poking around on job websites and have had a sinking feeling that what I did afore was kind of odd, and I dont know how to apply it to roles advertised online. Everything listed seems hard or like Id not be qualified.. maybe I'm underselling myself I dunno. This is scary!

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF FUCK.

Coffee.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:46 (twenty years ago)

*cries*

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:49 (twenty years ago)

It's the hardest bit. I know precisely what I want to do, but ads for it show up once a fortnight. I JUST WANT TO WORK NOW.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:51 (twenty years ago)

well Trayce yr experience certainly screams HELPDESK. i dunno :( .

adam - the competition is large?

bulbs (bulbs), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:52 (twenty years ago)

My experience screams HELPDESK too, which is the whole problem. In all seriousness I'd rather be dead than go anywhere near another call centre ever again.

Competition? Yeah I think so. They told us the best way to get jobs is by 'networking', but what they forgot to tell us is 'networking' is a FUCKING MYTH.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:56 (twenty years ago)

Yeah a lot of what I know points to helpdesk but I'll be damned if I'm doing that "hi, I cant get my email, outlook exploder has an error" phone calls ever again. Plus shift work sucks and makes me funny in the brain.

xpost also, wot he said.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:56 (twenty years ago)

Actually networking isnt a myth, if you consider that every single job I've had has been a word of mouth friend asked me to give 'em my resume thing. I have never gotten a job from the paper or online. Ever.

So, that in mind I'm going to grill friends online, ask people if they know people etc, do some webpages for friends and family, and try and keep my head above water oooh look SimCity brb.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 23 January 2005 23:58 (twenty years ago)

Argh. I've spoken to people and they're all 'nah, don't know anything like that.' So it completely fucking failed in the arse for me.

I'm hoping that, once I get the next job, I'll be headhunted a few times so I don't have to keep going through this shit.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 24 January 2005 00:00 (twenty years ago)

i fucking hate networking. i mean its ok if yr mates for other reasons

bulbs (bulbs), Monday, 24 January 2005 00:15 (twenty years ago)

Yeah. I can't just go up to a stranger and ask for information, or call someone I haven't spoekn to in 10 years and go 'hi! oh by the way give me a job'

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 24 January 2005 00:16 (twenty years ago)

so, what you up to these days. o really? i'm in that line myself. nah, just taking a bit of a break really, assessing my options, yaknow...

NO NO NO FUCKING WAY

bulbs (bulbs), Monday, 24 January 2005 00:19 (twenty years ago)

Yer, too hard and shit. Overrated. 2/10

So job ads is all I've got.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 24 January 2005 00:21 (twenty years ago)

See this is where being an online slag came in handy. Go onto IRC or LJ and say "hey I'm jobhunting in BLAH field" and people see it without you having to ask weirdoes. I dunno it worked for me - the guy at Connect who hired half of us used to go onto #melbourne on IRC and say "who wants a job our helpdesk is hiring".

My ex teamleader said she knows people at netspace so I must follow that one up.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 24 January 2005 00:26 (twenty years ago)

I think I need to redo my website and try my hand at some funny writing. Comic. And comics. I mean we is a funny buncha bastards.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 24 January 2005 01:42 (twenty years ago)

Yer, it's all going to waste. I've not done any writing in months because I'm so focused on the job thing.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 24 January 2005 01:43 (twenty years ago)

Why you arent pursuing comedy writing I have no idea. You should write for TV or some shit.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 24 January 2005 01:46 (twenty years ago)

Hah, like I could get a break or need the stress of getting into such a tight industry. Thanks though.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 24 January 2005 01:48 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I guess it is a pretty dogfight kind of line of work.. I sometimes think about writing for Neighbours or something but so does everyone else, and besides Ive never done screen writing.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 24 January 2005 01:52 (twenty years ago)

JUST
DO
IT

and send it to someone

bulbs (bulbs), Monday, 24 January 2005 02:14 (twenty years ago)

Lor lummee, I wouldnt know where to start! Ironic considering I did a diploma in bloody professional writing, ha.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 24 January 2005 02:20 (twenty years ago)

It's certainly hard. My husband did honours (ie, 4 years at uni) in that whole screenwriting dealy and could only get work writing commericals for radio.....in Townsville. Meanwhile cunts like the talentless Spierig Brothers are making shitty arse movies in Hollywood.

papa november (papa november), Monday, 24 January 2005 02:50 (twenty years ago)

We should start our own thinktank or something.

Mongrelfuxor Inc.
'We have the technology'

Each of us would have a role to play, I think. I, for example, could be the teaboy.

Can we have a new thread perhaps? This one's getting loooong and I can no longer log in for some reason.

thee music mole, Monday, 24 January 2005 02:52 (twenty years ago)

holy fuck yes...i think the secret is to be realy really really fucking dumbed down.

xpost

Oh right, the thread.

thee music mole, Monday, 24 January 2005 02:55 (twenty years ago)
