Anyway. Been a while since I got out to NYC and while I'll be missing Matos's party on the one hand and Stevem's visit on the other, one can't have everything. More to the point, I'm looking forward to seeing all y'all fine folks again!

Tickets bought and will be crashing with the mighty cool Maura and her boyfriend, so really this is all about suggesting meet-ups and meals and whatnot. I'll be arriving way early Friday March 25 and will probably spend most of the day resting up but after that I'm pretty much open through early afternoon the 27th, so rah. Revive this thread as needed as the time comes closer, talk more now, whatever works...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 3 February 2005 17:22 (twenty years ago)

Ned - Hi from King's Cross, London. Wish you were here!

I may be in NYC on that date...will be in touch.

Thea (Thea), Thursday, 3 February 2005 17:37 (twenty years ago)

Rah! That would be most grand. And speaking of London, my European trip tickets for July should be bought here shortly...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 3 February 2005 17:40 (twenty years ago)

Yee-ha! Let me know dates. Best email is thea.boyanowsky@gmail.com, fyi.

Thea (Thea), Thursday, 3 February 2005 17:43 (twenty years ago)

three weeks pass...
revive (with vivarin)!

jbr (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

I missed this the first time around. FAPstravaganza.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:26 (twenty years ago)

25th at Siberia! there's gonna be a good show, and if folx don't wanna rock they can hang out upstairs too.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

:-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

is it gonna be really noisy downstairs?

jbr (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

it's gonna be rockish bands, not noize bands. still don't have a headliner tho.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:34 (twenty years ago)

I could do spoken-word... ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

we already have an open-mic night.

ZING!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:42 (twenty years ago)

sorry Ned, just joshin'.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:42 (twenty years ago)

WAH

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:52 (twenty years ago)

bring your WAH WAH pedal!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

Two weeks to go, more or less, so revive. JBR and I were pondering the idea of food at the glorious Taverna Kyklades again, as we had such a killer time there with the 2003 July 4 FAP. Presumably this could be early Saturday night or something, then drinking/roistering afterwards, if Friday will be Siberia stuffage. I'd definitely like to try some other spots to eat I've not been to before, though -- Saturday lunch, Sunday brunch, etc.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

oh, i might be in miami for wmc. :(

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 10 March 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

I'll only be around for Friday night. Blame Easter.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Thursday, 10 March 2005 18:20 (twenty years ago)

i want tapas.

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 10 March 2005 18:23 (twenty years ago)

i still can't find a good headliner, dammit.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 10 March 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

has anyone been to onju (upscalish veg-friendly restaurant on east 4th)? it looks promising and would obv be a good option for non-carnivorous folx.

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 10 March 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

no but that looks good!

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 10 March 2005 18:37 (twenty years ago)

i'm up for it. entrees are $20 and under (if the menupages menu is still up to date).

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 10 March 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

I would like to attend.

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 10 March 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

:-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 March 2005 19:08 (twenty years ago)

does anyone in this fappin' bitch like robyn hitchcock?

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

Wait, hold on, I can't be in two places at once! But the show is early, yeah? How unfeasible is a dinner-into-Southpaw drink thing and then going to Siberia for more plus tapas? Like when does Robyn have to get off stage?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

my thought was that i'd go to the show and catch up with youse guys at siberia (i'm sure you'll be there well into the wee hours, and if not, i've got my cell).

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

but lemme see what the deal is with this show

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

*merry* Well it'd still be fun to see Hurting's band play at least, if they're on at 7 pm.

(Dinner suggestions for Friday? Also, I need to figure out with Maura and Joe what their thoughts on things are too -- plus my non-ILX friends in the area who want to join in! This is going to be busy but fun. :-))

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

doors open at 7, show starts at 7:30, according to the website.

should we have dinner in the park slope/ft. greene area (where southpaw is)?

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:02 (twenty years ago)

If there's good eats, why not?

Let me get a hold of a few folks tonight and I will plot and plan further. I admit I'm still feeling a major Taverna Kyklades jones for Saturday. Also, will brunch be a horrifically bad idea on Easter Sunday unless we book ahead right this second?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

i'd imagine so.

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

Then I ask you, the good peoples, to suggest a better option for Sunday brunch than might otherwise be thought.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:13 (twenty years ago)

i'm not the expert on brunch, but i was just looking at the menu for this south african restaurant and i noticed that they serve brunch.

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:28 (twenty years ago)

that south african place is okay (and walking distance from mine and geeta's respective houses), but a little pricey. there are better places on the same strip of dekalb.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:30 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, I will be in Munich and some other place nearby during this time. Have fun!

S!monB!rch (Carey), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:31 (twenty years ago)

tho if it's nice out, you can sit outside and it's just a block from ft. greene park. but it'll prolly still be cold.

looks like i won't even make it to siberia myself until after 11, due to other job.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:34 (twenty years ago)

what about chez oskar?

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:36 (twenty years ago)

that place has good food but the service can sometimes be lousy. but that's cool. i also like liquors, and loulou. actually loulou is a great little belgian place, but might not be so good for a crowd. basically, anything's cool with me as long as it's not a table on lafayette. fuck that place.

shit i don't even know if i can go, anyways. my work schedule says "early only" on sunday but no hours!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:40 (twenty years ago)

chez oskar sounds fine for brunch as long as no one minds service that's a bit... european.

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:44 (twenty years ago)

yeah that's exactly what i mean.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:47 (twenty years ago)

I leave it all to your tender offices. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 17:54 (twenty years ago)

my tender what now?

lychee mello (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 20:19 (twenty years ago)

Hurrah! I'll come by for drinks wherever.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

anything's cool with me as long as it's not a table on lafayette. fuck that place

Looks like somebody did. It's closed.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

!awesome! that's the best news i've heard all day. seriously, the people that ran that place were FUCKHEADS.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 17 March 2005 09:17 (twenty years ago)

Cool, I can totally walk to said places in ft greene.

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 17 March 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

awesome! that's the best news i've heard all day. seriously, the people that ran that place were FUCKHEADS

I've never actually been to it, but a friend was trying to take me there a couple weeks ago, and when we got there the place was boarded up. She was disappointed, but we went to the S. African place instead, which was pretty good.

o. nate (onate), Thursday, 17 March 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

Demi-revive, as it's less than a week to go. Okay, looks like there are three specific things planned:

Friday night -- dinner/Robyn-Hurting show/Siberia/whatever

Saturday night -- not yet fully nailed down, but Taverna Kyklades followed by roistering?

Sunday brunch -- so either the South African place or Chez Oscar, I take it?

My flight out on Sunday is 4:50 pm from Newark, so whatever is planned in terms of brunch-and-after just needs to work around that -- not that this should be a problem, I figure. ;-)

Saturday day right now I'm leaving open as plans will suggest themselves.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 19 March 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

I'll be at Siberia on Friday. Any idea what time you fine kids plan on getting there?

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Saturday, 19 March 2005 16:39 (twenty years ago)

I'm still trying to figure out if I want to do Friday or Saturday.

Sara Sherr, Saturday, 19 March 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

I'll be at Siberia on Friday. Any idea what time you fine kids plan on getting there?

Probably will depend on the Robyn H. show -- if he's in fine form I suppose we'll stick it out through the end, but since it's an early show as noted it won't be too late or anything. Otherwise we'll decamp early and head over. (I say 'we' not knowing exactly who is planning on showing up!)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 19 March 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

Sara, Maura has mentioned it's unlikely she can make Saturday dinner, though earlier in the day might be open. We'll talk about it!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 19 March 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

cause co-motion is headlining now.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 19 March 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

It's probably easier to stick with Saturday, but then I saw Ms Fury appearing on Friday and that started swaying me.

Sara Sherr, Saturday, 19 March 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

Sunday brunch -- so either the South African place or Chez Oscar, I take it?

i'll call chez oskar and see if we need reservations for brunch. how many people do you reckon will show up?

sexy waitress connie stevens (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 20 March 2005 04:52 (twenty years ago)

My flight out on Sunday is 4:50 pm from Newark, so whatever is planned in terms of brunch-and-after just needs to work around that -- not that this should be a problem, I figure. ;-)

perfect. afterwards you can catch one of many trains that go to penn station, and get the new jersey transit commuter rail out to the airport. easy peasy.

sexy waitress connie stevens (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 20 March 2005 04:58 (twenty years ago)

Merry! :-) Brunch Sunday...not sure exactly how many at this point, who's in on this thread so far? About six, seven?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 March 2005 05:28 (twenty years ago)

ned is coming to town ... just as i am LEAVING (to go to the folks for easter)

:-(

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 20 March 2005 05:32 (twenty years ago)

Damned punk.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 20 March 2005 05:37 (twenty years ago)

So, like, what's the deal for Saturday night then? I may be able to attend. I cannae do Friday, as I'm workin'.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 00:19 (twenty years ago)

Damned punk.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 00:26 (twenty years ago)

I got relatives coming to town, so I will be retaining my air of mystery by not coming.

Ken L (Ken L), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 00:37 (twenty years ago)

More details on Saturday night, please.

o. nate (onate), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 00:38 (twenty years ago)

Who is coming, by the way? Can we get a headcount? And by that, I don't mean this entirely fantastic album which you should all own and play every goddamn day by my friend and fellow Killing Joke zealot Rob Moss?

http://www.studio-c.co.uk/maliciousdamage/graphics/headcount.jpg

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)

Saturday night is sorta the vaguest thing at this point. Here's the score:

As mentioned above, JBR and I were thinking of the godlike Taverna Kyklades in Astoria for dinner. Here's Elvis Telecom's report on the July 2003 nosh we did there for the FAP, as well as more articles here and here. Assuming they're not closed or anything on Saturday night (could someone check?), then personally I'm for there, the food was just THAT good. Afterwards there's always the Bohemian Hall if we like.

But the thing is, I'm plenty open for other suggestions if we wanted to head elsewhere, and if we have dinner early enough to make it practical. My good host Maura has indicated she's likely unable to make Saturday night but so long as I have a spare key to get back into her and Joe's apartment then pretty much everything's open. So really, suggest away!

Saturday dinner at 6 pm, perhaps? Sound good? If they need reservations let's try and iron that one out now! I've got a couple of friends who will definitely be up for this who are not on ILX, so if we can get all this settled, roxor.

Meantime, do we have exact times for the Friday night fests? I know the Robyn/Hurting show starts at 7 pm and JBR was thinking of food in the general area -- any suggestions? Again from there we'll head over in a heap to Siberia so if people just want to meet us there, rah!

Finally, if you're definitely in for Sunday brunch, please say so the reservation can be locked down.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 00:53 (twenty years ago)

we don't have to do a big dinner thing on friday if we're doing a big dinner thing on saturday night and sunday brunch too. how about we just hunt 'n' kill our own food and meet at southpaw around 7?

i love scotch, scotchy scotch scotch (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:01 (twenty years ago)

and remember, there's an excellent tapas bar very very close to siberia and they stay open late!

i love scotch, scotchy scotch scotch (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

oi Ned ! - I think Stelfox (dancehall) and Ripley (jungle) are spinning at SubTonic this Friday
http://www.klever.org/thebunkernyc/

Paul (scifisoul), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:10 (twenty years ago)

JBR sounds to have a fine approach re: Friday! Let us do that in terms of dinner, then there is less angst.

Paul, hmm. Three clubs in one night, how adventurous for me! (Er, if it can happen.) Can you show up on Saturday or Sunday if Friday falls through?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:13 (twenty years ago)

Queens? Brooklyn? DON'T YOU PEOPLE KNOW THAT MANHATTAN RULES UBER ALLES AVEC UN FIST D'IRON?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:24 (twenty years ago)

UBER ALLES AVEC UN FIST D'IRON
Michael White move over!

Ken L (Ken L), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:25 (twenty years ago)

The best thing to come out of Astoria, Queens:

http://www.krautnyc.com/

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:28 (twenty years ago)

Mr. Alex, sir, this is precisely why I invite further suggestions. ;-) If you want to name a fave dive *in* Manhattan to go to after Taverna, by all means. And trust me, the food's worth the trip over to Queens.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:33 (twenty years ago)

I'm sure it is, actually. For all of Queens' faults (and they are numerous), it is a hotbed of dizzyingly fine cuisine.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:36 (twenty years ago)

I'm still trying to find out if I have an out that night, and if so, I'll commence suggestions. `Til then, I'll attempt to adhere to any established plan,....my haughty Manhattan snob instincts notwithstanding.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:37 (twenty years ago)

i may be able to go to dinner on saturday after all ... as long as a firm time is nailed down. 6 pm would be fine by me, but it's up to y'all (esp. since this is ned's thing) so please work around his schedule/preferences.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 01:48 (twenty years ago)

Rah! Well unless there's some major objection let's make it 6 pm. Speak now or forever etc.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 02:00 (twenty years ago)

i'm not gonna make it to siberia until about 11:15 friday, but only one band should've played by then.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 02:06 (twenty years ago)

I gather we should have a good crowd at Siberia -- Sara (maybe), Jeanne, Maura and Joe (I assume!), etc.

I need to get a hold of Ally again!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 02:10 (twenty years ago)

6 pm sat is fine by me!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 02:16 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to a party earlier on Friday, but I should be able to make it to Siberia later. Saturday dinner at Taverna sounds great.

o. nate (onate), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 05:19 (twenty years ago)

Yay! This sounds fun. But there are still a couple of obstacles for me in terms of making it to Siberia.

1) Driving back from Park Slope to Jersey City to dump off my equipment (can't leave it in the car all night in NYC) and still making it back in time, and

2) Convincing my girlfriend that we should go: "You know that internet board that you say I'm 'addicted to' ..."

I will do my best.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 05:25 (twenty years ago)

Have your girlfriend meet those of us who are there at your show and we'll convince her we're not weird. (This might be impossible.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 05:29 (twenty years ago)

Driving back from Park Slope to Jersey City to dump off my equipment (can't leave it in the car all night in NYC) and still making it back in time

shouldn't be that hard unless the holland tunnel is all clogged up (you could also take the verrazzano and cut through staten island, which takes a little longer but you're guaranteed almost no traffic). and then heading back you just take the PATH from JC right into midtown.

i love scotch, scotchy scotch scotch (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

Um, so yeah, two days from tomorrow! And three and etc. Er, did we still need headcounts for Saturday and Sunday to ensure we actually get tables?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

Also, remind me -- so once I get to the MTA lines, what kind of pass am I looking to buy? There's some sort of weekend or three day thing?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

i'll call today and reserve a table for six -- that'll be enough, right? a headcount is a good idea.

metrocard has a one-day unlimited "fun pass" for $7 and an unlimited seven-day card for $24. or you can just buy a regular card and fill it up with $2 rides.

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:19 (twenty years ago)

i'll call today and reserve a table for six -- that'll be enough, right? a headcount is a good idea.

For Sunday? Sounds about right based on what's upthread, I'll go through that again here. Saturday we might not need a reservation at the Taverna if we're early enough, though we'll be a presumably big party nonetheless -- counting my friends Eve and Efrem and probably others in combination with who's already spoken for Saturday here, we could be looking at at least ten.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:21 (twenty years ago)

"fun pass"

That sounds wrong.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:22 (twenty years ago)

yes it does.

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:22 (twenty years ago)

i don't think the taverna takes reservations.

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:23 (twenty years ago)

Then we show up in a heap and drink Cypriot beer until everything's open.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 19:24 (twenty years ago)

Saturday's looking exceptionally iffy for me at this point, but am keeping hope alive.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 20:25 (twenty years ago)

:-( If you don't show up to something at least, I shall hunt and slay.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

Ned, in case you forgot...

Ken L (Ken L), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

I am well aware of that, ya punk. ;-)

Looking upthread, seems like Sunday would be:

Me
JBR
57 7th
Hstencil
...and whoever else, so six seems like a reasonable amount for now for the reservation, as noted.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

Um, isn't Sunday Easter? I've got family duties that day...I'm going to try for Saturday at 6 at siberia.

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 22:30 (twenty years ago)

nevermind me, I'm totally confused and zonked from work today...I'll try to get things straight later on.

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, it's Easter, so Sunday brunch is for the heathens. Rah! Saturday 6 pm is for Taverna Kyklades, Friday at Siberia is, well, whenever I guess. Get some sleep and avoid confusion. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

i'm probably gonna be visiting my parents on saturday-sunday so that's out, but i'm around on friday! i'll be going to stelfox's DJ thing later in the evening on fri, but i could do dinner maybe...

geeta (geeta), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 22:48 (twenty years ago)

I think the idea for dinner on Friday was not to plan anything too specific since Saturday and Sunday were going to be more formal -- I was going to talk with Maura and Joe and see what their thoughts were. If people want to join in on something, let me know!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 22:50 (twenty years ago)

geeta, come see robyn hitchcock (and hurting's band) at southpaw!

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 24 March 2005 00:01 (twenty years ago)

we're all congregating there around 7 i think.

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 24 March 2005 00:01 (twenty years ago)

Actually, at this point who IS exactly showing up on Friday night and where? Sara, Jeanne, etc.? The Southpaw show is $15 so if people are more inclined to meet up at Siberia later that's more than fine, though with all the bands there might not be much chance to properly talk! Then again this is why the tapas place near Siberia exists. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 03:16 (twenty years ago)

There's decent, cheap Mexican and Chinese within blocks of Southpaw, but if you have more time I recommend this Thai place:

http://newyork.citysearch.com/customer_website/11573599

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

I'll be at Siberia with some friends starting at 8:30, but I don't know if I'll last long enough to meet up with you kids. I'll be in for the long haul, but I don't know if my haul will be long enough.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:16 (twenty years ago)

Aw. :-( Well pretty much my thought is if Robyn's set is just sorta there then I'd be happy to bail to Siberia early -- and I've seen Robyn before but I've not seen me a Jeanne Fury yet, and that surely is more important!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

And a good Thai place never hurts, I suspect we'll have plenty of time before the show since nothing else has been planned that day at all! Thanks Dr. M!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

Meantime if anyone is up for a chat in the wee hours of the morning -- I'll be arriving at Newark at 5 am tomorrow and will be getting to Maura's place to crash around 9 am or so. So if anyone wants to randomly help me kill time somewhere in Manhattan or en route to Queens, say so -- Alex, would you be out from work by that point?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

I get back to Brooklyn from work around 6, and would be happy to join you guys somewhere for a bite. (on Friday eve).

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 24 March 2005 17:43 (twenty years ago)

Coolness. I'll talk with Maura tomorrow about it -- when I'm coherent! -- and will post something on here tomorrow afternoon at the latest. I'm all for the Thai place.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 17:47 (twenty years ago)

i'll be up early tomorrow. we can get breakfast!

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 24 March 2005 18:50 (twenty years ago)

A fine idea! Shoot me yer phone number.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 18:52 (twenty years ago)

the thai sounds pretty good but i think i'll stick to my original plan since i'm gonna be dropping a lot of bucks this weekend -- i'll just have something at home before i head out.

(ned, i'll e-mail you.)

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 24 March 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

Alex, would you be out from work by that point?

Well, my shift ends at 4am, but I gots to go home to sleep and then look after the bambina while we my hits the office for the morning hours.

Sadly, Saturday night possibilities for me depend on whether or not my wife is going to some art opening her friend is hosting. If she does, we can get a sitter and I'm good to go drinking, but it's not looking likely at this point, as my wife seems to be coming down with some sniffling malady. Stay tuned, tho'.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 24 March 2005 23:58 (twenty years ago)

i am in new york, i'd like to come out, at some point over the weekend.

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 25 March 2005 00:36 (twenty years ago)

Hi y'all. I'm in NYC this weekend, too (with the above) and I might not be back for a while, so I'd love to see people.

Speaking of which, anyone down for Sway this Sunday?

Mary (Mary), Friday, 25 March 2005 00:49 (twenty years ago)

Brilliant! Check this thread if you can; if not, contact folks like JBR or Maura or Hstencil as you both can. It'll be a pleasure to see yer. :-)

Alex, just keep us posted! :-)

Okay, I probably won't be posting here again until tomorrow, but right now I'm thinking the Thai place mentioned above for tomorrow night at 6 pm for dinner if anyone wants to join me, then the show (at least Hurting's band!), then Siberia, then whatever. Saturday will be Taverna at 6 pm then whatever. Will talk with Maura about this more tomorrow. Roxor etc and hope to see all of yez as can be done!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 March 2005 00:59 (twenty years ago)

Oh and Sunday brunch too. It will happen darn it!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 March 2005 01:05 (twenty years ago)

Siberia after the show looks likely for me -- I may not have to go back to Jersey City at all as I've been informed I'm using the house drum kit. BTW, I seem to remember the Mexican down the street from Southpaw being off the hook.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 25 March 2005 01:13 (twenty years ago)

(I wonder if I should shamelessly ask to be on the guest list or if that would be gauche.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 March 2005 01:27 (twenty years ago)

Well, we usually only get one spot per band member, and my girlfriend is likely coming. So unless you're a better lay ...

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 25 March 2005 01:32 (twenty years ago)

Yowsa! (No worries, and will see you there. Will you be milling about beforehand in the crowd or backstage doing coke or whatever it is you do pre-show in NYC?)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 March 2005 01:53 (twenty years ago)

Don't know, actually. They're one of the few clubs we play that actually has a genuine "backstage" area to hang out in. Depends on if they stock beer for us or not. Anyway, I think we'll probably be on about half an hour after doors, so I won't be much good for hanging out until after our set.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:57 (twenty years ago)

holy shit gareth and mary are in town too?! give me a call you dudes! we must all hang out!

i will probably be able to make thai dinner today (fri)...i will have to check but i think so!

geeta (geeta), Friday, 25 March 2005 08:50 (twenty years ago)

ned and i had breakfast here!

http://southsidecallbox.com/ilx/comfort_small.jpg

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 25 March 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

Is that on 86th and Lex, Jody?

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 25 March 2005 18:26 (twenty years ago)

btw fyi, there is a $5 cover for the bands downstairs at siberia, but upstairs is fine. by 12 when the last band goes on, downstairs will be free.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 March 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

just wanted to make that clear so nobody gets mad at me later.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 March 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to try to leave Southpaw around 9:30/9:45 and drive over to Siberia. People tell me parking is a nightmare in that area.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 25 March 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

If anyone wants to ride over, I'll probably have a space or two in my car.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 25 March 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

jesus christ can someone print out a microsoft project plan of all of this, i can't even work out what's going on. hurting's band? siberia? stelfox? DINNER?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 25 March 2005 19:41 (twenty years ago)

Tracer, the plan right now is:

Dinner at the Thai place mentioned up above near Southpaw at 6 pm

Southpaw show w/Hurting's band then Robyn Hitchcock

Decamping to Siberia as we do

Stelfoxing if/as it happens.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 March 2005 19:48 (twenty years ago)

Now another thing is complicating my evening -- gf's parents have decided to come. Effing grebt.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:00 (twenty years ago)

To clarify, before everyone gets scared off, they're just coming to the show, not the whole FAP. But it's the first time they're ever seeing us

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:09 (twenty years ago)

Yay! Tonight I'm forced to justify my life choices to my significant other's parents!

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:11 (twenty years ago)

I am in Rhode Island right now, and I'm coming back to NYC Saturday evening. I am going to see my girlfriend's band play in Greenpoint, and then we're hanging out. I may be up for Sunday brunch though depending on whether the ladyfriend is working or having an easter celebration at her house.. I'll get in touch with Hpencil re: details, because he'll hook it up right good, he will.

Ian John50n (orion), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

i want to meet gareth and ned.

Ian John50n (orion), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:18 (twenty years ago)

i want pictures of this weekend's shenanigans guys

Sven Bastard (blueski), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:20 (twenty years ago)

just wanted to make that clear so nobody gets mad at me later.

B-b-b-b-but whati if we're already mad at ya, Stence?

Just kidding. The outlook is looking especially bleak for me to appear on Saturday, Ned, I'm very sorry to report. But so long as someone douses someone else with a full pint of beer at one point and gets all frothy at the mouth, I feel my spirit will be well represented.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:22 (twenty years ago)

Okay, if you're into FAPping pre-Thai food -- Maura, Joe and I are about to go to DBA in the East Village, 41 First Avenue. Should be there for a little bit and will try to be at Thai spot at or near 6 pm, but if you want to just find us at DBA first, feel free! Alex, fire somehow will be honoured.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:24 (twenty years ago)

Just a reminder, I am the drummer. Also, my name is Josh.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:27 (twenty years ago)

hey hurting, you might be able to find parking on ninth avenue.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

Looks like I'll actually be showing up at Thai place (Long Tan) on my own, so I'll try to be there at least a little before 6 pm and I have no idea who all will show, so I'll wait outside or something and try and look conspicuous. Doubt I'll have a chance to check this thread again until the night's over!

Ned not logged in, Friday, 25 March 2005 20:30 (twenty years ago)

i was just thinking, tomorrow's the louisville/west virginia game at 4:40 pm. if peeps wanna come over to my house and watch it, get in touch. should be a good one.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:38 (twenty years ago)

Well, we were aiming for dinner at Taverna Kyklades at 6 pm, and I admit food trumps game in my possibly depraved universe. However, perhaps we can slightly adjust dinner? It's just that Eisbar said he needed a fixed time for dinner due to work and had already worked out the 6 pm time. Don't mind me, just thinking out loud.

Ned not logged in, Friday, 25 March 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

oh that's cool, i was just saying in general. i know you're not the biggest sports fan, ned.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 March 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

Is that on 86th and Lex, Jody?

it's the one on 45th.

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 25 March 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

maybe i'll meet y'all at the thai place around a quarter to seven and walk over with you.

in the meantime, i need to recaffeinate, big time.

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 25 March 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

This thread is making me teh jealous.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 25 March 2005 21:34 (twenty years ago)

We're not exactly sure what our plans are, but we will definitely end up at Tonic at some point tonight.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 25 March 2005 22:10 (twenty years ago)

OK did someone invent a teleportation device while I was hungover this morning? GET ONE UNCOMPLICATED PLAN.

I don't know what Tom and I are doing but we are definitely going to end up at Tonic if Gareth and Mary and Tracer are all doing this.

Allyzay Subservient 50s-Type (allyzay), Friday, 25 March 2005 22:26 (twenty years ago)

(does anyone know what time Stelfox is supposed to go on?)

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Friday, 25 March 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

ned and everyone: if you need to adjust dinner time tomorrow (saturday), please feel free to do so. don't let me be an obstacle -- do whatever you have to do!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 25 March 2005 22:37 (twenty years ago)

Okay folks! I am en route to the Thai place as I type.

Ally et al -- Tonic? Hmm....*thinks furiously*....okay, I'm still planning the Siberia run from Southpaw tonight, because I'm supposed to meet a lot of folks there. But how late is Tonic open again, or is that a dumb question?

Right now the Siberia crew appears to be me, JBR, Maura, Joe, Stence, Jeanne, my friends Eve and Efrem and whoever else can make it. I have *NO* idea if I will be at a computer any time before I make it to Siberia.

Eisbar -- fret not! Let's stick with our original plan of 6 pm tomorrow at the Taverna.

There IS a plan for brunch and record shopping tomorrow and other such things in the afternoon.

If I don't get to meet up with Ally and Tom and Gareth and Mary at some point this weekend I'm going to pout. GRRR I SAY GRRR.

See everyone hopefully soon!

Ned logged out, Friday, 25 March 2005 22:42 (twenty years ago)

(p.s.: THE game is tonight @ 9:55P. ROOT FOR THE VILLANOVA WILDCATS OMGWTF!!!)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 25 March 2005 22:44 (twenty years ago)

Tonic is open incredibly late and we wouldn't be planning on getting there until relatively later on anyway, I THINK much after you guys would be showing up at Siberia (didn't someone say they'd be there at like 7.30??).

Tom isn't here yet so it throws a spanner in meeting up with anyone any time before like 10ish or 11ish because we have to get his stuff uptown, get our own food, etc which is why I haven't posted on this thread yet, I didn't know until today what time he'd get here!!

Ned if you all don't make it to tonic tonight I believe you have my # so call Saturday--I can't meet up on Sunday due 2 easter so i guess it depends on what you guys have planned for tomoorrow, it seems like you guys already have a pretty militaristic itinerary going!

Allyzay Subservient 50s-Type (allyzay), Friday, 25 March 2005 22:59 (twenty years ago)

depending on where we get dinner and when we finish we might stop by Siberia for a short period en route to tonic.

Allyzay Subservient 50s-Type (allyzay), Friday, 25 March 2005 23:00 (twenty years ago)

Jeanne said she'd be there at 8, but I don't think anyone else is getting there til around 11ish. I know I'm not, as I'm at work, and everyone else is coming from Park Slope. If you guys are gonna be around Penn Station, why not come by? Or on your way back downtown?

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 March 2005 23:01 (twenty years ago)

oh shit i thought everyone was getting there at 8

jorel I'll keep in touch with you, we might stop by either before or after tonic.

Allyzay Subservient 50s-Type (allyzay), Friday, 25 March 2005 23:03 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to see people, but I'll be at work all weekend

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 25 March 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

i'll definitely be online until 11ish.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 March 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

thankfully, the rockies/giants game was pretty uneventful.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 March 2005 23:17 (twenty years ago)

boo hoo I can't make it tonight - I'm on lockdown (baby duty), likely for the whole weekend
have fun everyone - just know that I would like to see you if I could
especially sorry to have to miss Ned, Gareth, Stelfox & Ripley (and any other out of towners)

Paul (scifisoul), Saturday, 26 March 2005 04:06 (twenty years ago)

Fuck, this totally sucked. Southpaw was so crowded I couldn't find anyone, then I got out too late to make it to Siberia. Well, if anyone came, thanks. I'll see if I can make it to one of the other days' activities.

Hurting (Hurting), Saturday, 26 March 2005 06:04 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I got to Siberia at 12, saw nobody there, went home.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Saturday, 26 March 2005 06:25 (twenty years ago)

michael, the show was downstairs! i was there! i saw o. nate for a second.

dudes, call me tomorrow. i don't know what i'm up to but at the very least, brunch on sunday.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 26 March 2005 07:07 (twenty years ago)

yeah when we showed at Siberia we didn't see anyone there--was everyone downstairs? :(

Allyzay Subservient 50s-Type (allyzay), Saturday, 26 March 2005 09:48 (twenty years ago)

michael, the show was downstairs! i was there! i saw o. nate for a second.

I went downstairs and some dude accosted me about paying a cover charge and I was I like "I'm not paying a fuckin' cover charge just to see if my friends are here, especially when it's likely they've already left." And then I just scampered out.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Saturday, 26 March 2005 12:13 (twenty years ago)

Fuck, this totally sucked. Southpaw was so crowded I couldn't find anyone

ned and i were there! we were near the front. we stayed through the first 20 minutes of robyn's set and ducked out around 9:15 to see who we could find at siberia. answer: no one! but a few phone calls later, we did manage to track down maura and joe and hstencil. apparently EVERYONE ELSE was at this tonic thing and had we known this we would have just gone straight there from southpaw. ah well, hopefully i'll see some of you tonight.

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 26 March 2005 13:45 (twenty years ago)

Well, hope you enjoyed the show at least. We had to play pretty quiet because Robyn's fussy road manager insisted on it, so I recommend seeing us when we have a chance to rock out a little more.

Hurting (Hurting), Saturday, 26 March 2005 14:41 (twenty years ago)

Also, I promise the stage banter will be better next time.

Hurting (Hurting), Saturday, 26 March 2005 14:41 (twenty years ago)

I did rather enjoy Robyn Hitchcock -- much more than I thought I would.

Hurting (Hurting), Saturday, 26 March 2005 14:43 (twenty years ago)

Ack! Okay, so last night didn't QUITE work out as planned in meeting everyone. ;-)

However, today is the day, so -- Ally! I don't have your cell number with me, so plz mail it to me at ned@kuci.org? I will check my mail later today around mid-afternoon as I can. If you have already done so I will call later. :-)

Show was grand, Hurting, credit to ya!

TODAY -- Maura and I were going to grab brunch around here and then after that is record shopping in the company of some friends. To keep things simple -- dinner is still on at 6 pm at Taverna Kyklades in Astoria. Make it as you can! If not, I need numbers so I can contact you for whatever plans follow later in the night. (See, this isn't TOO militaristic.) As I said I will check mail during the afternoon via net cafe to see what's up.

Ned logged out (maura), Saturday, 26 March 2005 15:53 (twenty years ago)

Oh, BTW, I was VERY tired last night so nobody fret about showing up too late at Siberia or anything, I wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway! I've settled the jet lag so today will be much more coherent. Smiles everyone, smiles!

Ned logged out (maura), Saturday, 26 March 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

And Ally, just sent you a cell number I should be able to be reached at by mid-afternoon or so, so we can chat then! :-)

Ned logged out (maura), Saturday, 26 March 2005 16:12 (twenty years ago)

I got impressively drunk at Siberia and then split some time after that. I have the f*ing headache to prove it. Owie. And I played pinball and played aprx 10 Ramones songs on the jukebox. And I kept staring at the door guy because he looked like Gibby from the Butthole Surfers. I had no idea about the Tonic thingie. Sorry to have missed so many of you (Ned!) last night. Ah well. Ow my head ow.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Saturday, 26 March 2005 16:22 (twenty years ago)

Ha, the Gibby guy! I saw him, he made me think of Steve Hewitt from Placebo. I was mistaken for bar staff last night! God knows why.

Another time, Jeanne -- it was a pity to have missed ya.

Ned logged out (maura), Saturday, 26 March 2005 16:27 (twenty years ago)

I'll be in Philly today, but may be around to hang tonight or tomorrow.

Hurting (Hurting), Saturday, 26 March 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

And while I'm thinking of it, tomorrow again will be Chez Oskar for brunch at noon or so. From there I'm probably going to head out to the airport, so if you can swing by if today is out for anyone, please do! More details will be posted as they are.

Ned logged out (maura), Saturday, 26 March 2005 17:02 (twenty years ago)

michael, the show was downstairs! i was there! i saw o. nate for a second

Sorry I missed you. I just poked my head in for a second, didn't see anyone I recognized and left. It was already getting late by that time, so I figured everyone had gone home or to another bar.

o. nate (onate), Saturday, 26 March 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

No worries, Nate, got your number and will be giving you a call shortly.

Taverna K -- take the N line all the way to its stopping point in Astoria, is about two blocks over, 33 and Ditmars, 33-07 Ditmars. 6 pm still the time of choice.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 26 March 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

thankee for the directions, ned! see y'all @/around 6 pm!! yay!!!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 26 March 2005 21:01 (twenty years ago)

And I kept staring at the door guy because he looked like Gibby from the Butthole Surfers.

OH MAN, hahahaha patrick hates being called gibby.

sorry folx, if i hadn't had to work beforehand, i would've been running the door downstairs instead of the douchebag. he tried to give cause co-motion $12! so i gave them another $30 out of pocket. fucking scummy.

chez oskar, noon tomorrow? we have reservations? lemme know, i'm game.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 26 March 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)

Rock to both of yez! Eisbar, I figure you know what I look like, so just look for me. ;-) Stence, yeah my understanding is Chez O., noon tomorrow!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 26 March 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

You fuckers better all be drunk right now, or there's going to be hell to pay.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 27 March 2005 01:06 (twenty years ago)

Alex is right. Just because we can't be there to "Honor the Pi-er" doesn't mean you should be half-steppin'.

Ken L (Ken L), Sunday, 27 March 2005 01:19 (twenty years ago)

Shun the half-stepper!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 27 March 2005 01:56 (twenty years ago)

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Sunday, 27 March 2005 01:57 (twenty years ago)

OH MAN, hahahaha patrick hates being called gibby.

Aww. Well, he's a handsome fella, regarless of who he looks like.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Sunday, 27 March 2005 01:00 (twenty years ago)

I've just called Mike so all is not sadness. Many drinks were had and Greek beer is a fine thing, as is Czech. :-) Rah to all who showed -- Eisbar, O. Nate, JBR, Nick Graham, who says hi to all, her friend Liz and my friends Eve and Efrem. Yay!

At this point we have a party of six for brunch tomorrow -- Geeta, Hstencil, JBR, Nick, Mike and me -- so if anyone else wants in, please let me know! Plan is still Chez Oskar at noon, though updates will occur as warranted.

And hi to Dee! Great talking to you on the phone!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 27 March 2005 03:09 (twenty years ago)

Oh man, Ned, it was excellent chatting with all of you guys! I'm in eternal gratitude to Nick for setting up that phone conversation. The only drawback I can think of is that I couldn't really hear you guys too well! But JBR explained that you guys were sitting in an "outdoor beergarden next to a bunch of drunken Europeans", so that explains a lot. I hope to get a chance to chat with you guys in person, in a place that isn't as noisy. Hope you guys have an awesome time tomorrow!

Surreal Addiction (Dee the Lurker), Sunday, 27 March 2005 03:29 (twenty years ago)

it was great to meet ned (at last!), nichole, nate, efrem, and eve, and to see jbr again! the food, the beer, and the company was great!!

it was also nice to talk to dee -- it was too loud and cold where we were when we called, so it was kinda pointless to talk too long. but it was still great!!

WHERE WERE YOU ALEX?!? :-)

have a great easter, everyone!!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 27 March 2005 03:49 (twenty years ago)

Is it still possible for me to elbow in on the brunch at Chez Oskar? I'd like to at least meet you guys, since Friday's plan fell through.

Hurting (Hurting), Sunday, 27 March 2005 14:07 (twenty years ago)

Well, if it's ok, or if I don't hear otherwise, I'll try to make it. Since no one will know what I look like, I'm wearing a black sweater, jeans, and brown shoes that are in a bad state of disrepair. Also, I'm white and Jewish-looking, and 5'9" and have dark brown hair that's somewhere between Seinfeld and Kramer. And my name is Josh.

Hurting (Hurting), Sunday, 27 March 2005 14:17 (twenty years ago)

ok, brunch brunch brunch. if you want in, just show up at noon! 211 dekalb ave (at adelphi st), fort greene, brooklyn. near the dekalb ave subway stop (m/n/r/d/q).

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 27 March 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

we never did confirm the reservation (i wasn't able to reach a live human being there) but if this doesn't pan out there are a zillion other restaurants there we can try.

So wait wait wait....where is everybody going after Taverna Kyklades?

we went to the bohemian hall beer garden! we didn't stay for very long though; we were more interested in talking than doing any serious drinking.

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 27 March 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 28 March 2005 13:34 (twenty years ago)

Hey Ned, I'm sorry to have missed you. I thought you might wash up at Tonic on Friday night but I should have realized that you'd get "stuck" at phase 14-a or LK-6 of your plans that night. How was Chez Oskar? I love the food there but they have a whole different definition of "timeliness" when it comes to bringing food, or speaking to you.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 28 March 2005 22:24 (twenty years ago)

sorry we missed so many people. it was all a bit hectic, trying to fit everything in, in what was a bit of a whirlwind visit

tonic was fun, for those that made it down there, finally met fellow englander d.stelfox at last.

saturday got a bit messed up due to my erractic sleep schedule, we went to a good japanese place near hasaki (but not hasaki this time), then hoped to catch up with tracer at misshapes, but it wasnt to be

sunday was the morrissey night at sway, this was just me and mary, and, despite all the tedious morrissey records, it was actually quite nice

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 19:11 (twenty years ago)

Gareth loves the interior design at Sway. I didn't realize he was into faux-Moroccan-fetishism--I would have brought him to Fez.

I would have loved to go to Misshapes--but we ate so much at Yokocho and left there at 2 in the morning--I was too filled up on grapefruit shochu and fried squid legs to go anywhere.

Miss you, love you, NYC.
