Yorkville hotels is nice, former hippie coffee shop area from the 60s now ultrapricey. Located right at Bloor and Avenue, basically walking distance to most of the nice areas downtown and on two subway lines.Otherwise in the downtown The Delta, in the lower left is nice but might be a little more expensive then you may want:http://photos9.flickr.com/11200343_8dc6699a71_m.jpgThe Bond Place hotel (lower right) is where we put up visiting corporate travelers who aren't important:http://photos9.flickr.com/11200344_f5ec14c83e_m.jpgIs much cheaper but you don't want to really go to far past it.
― Rufus 3000 (Mr Noodles), Friday, 27 May 2005 16:33 (twenty years ago)
Toronto has a very large downtown.. you see the skyline, then you enter it, and then it just doesn't end. Even Manhattan has breaks from the skyscrapers on small occasions. Not to say downtown Toronto is bigger than Manhattan over all.. just sayin' that it ain't as small as downtown Seattle, Portland, SF, L.A., or even Chicago... it's quite broad.

We will be in Toronto from the night of August 4th to the morning of August 9th then a day in Niagara on the Lake and then to Montreal from the 10th to the morning of the 16th. We still have only vaguish sort of plans as far as what we'll be doing when and where, but that knowing us it'll mostly involve walking and shopping and eating (and pretending that we care about museums haha.)
I would love to meet ILMers so hopefully we can arrange something for one of the nights we are there. Is there a universally good Canadian FAP night?

Yup, though I'm not one to judge grebtness of dancehall/jungle stores.
What's the plans for Niagra on the Lake? We can recomend some B&B's if you'd like or wineries to visit on the way.
Even with the Yankees the Jays won't sellout. You can probably pick up decent seats as the place holds 53,000 or so but usually their lucky to pass 22,000 since the strike.

If your driving yourself down as opposed to taking a tour, then there are way better places to visit. Strewn is just down the road though they tend to stick to excellent Chardonay or Meritage. The big boys from vinecor are great at making ice wine Inniskillin as are there neighbours Jackson Triggs.

I could prob'ly to a FAP at this Squirly's, not far from my hotel, on Thurs or Sat. And I cannot emphasize enough that at the Horseshoe at midnight Friday, one of those old soul guys from the Fat Possum label is playing who has songs titled "I Want Love And Affection (Not The House Of Correction)" and "I Don't Want No Bald-Headed Woman Telling Me What to Do."
