Big Brother (UK 2005) - And then they did lez up ... : thread 2

So Mary's gone, and the winner of the counting up task gets to be "Big Brother"... oooooh.

So how long will the lezzing carry on for, and will they show it?

(Sorry for not saying more here, but I'm still catching up!)

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:03 (twenty years ago)

That counting task really made laugh. "What you doing? What you doing? What you doing?"

Affectian (Affectian), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:04 (twenty years ago)

From the BB news on Channel 4

After getting bored of a competition to see who can make themselves cry, Maxwell suggested a "see who can wee themselves first" competition.

Claiming it was something he used to do while out in Faliraki, the Londoner lay down the gauntlet.

Sam said it would make "the best TV ever" and although her and Saskia refused to compete, Anthony accepted the challenge.

The two removed their trousers and walked into the garden to take the strain.

They're not doing this right, are they H3ri?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:11 (twenty years ago)

how is pissing yourself a challenge?

g-kit (g-kit), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:12 (twenty years ago)

if you're an idiot.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:15 (twenty years ago)

nuff said, yo.

g-kit (g-kit), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

Can't they just piss on each other? not for my entertainment you understand, I do not watch this programme (much).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

can't they just piss off? that way i wouldn't feel compelled to watch them. god damn.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 6 June 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

what a world.

teeth montrose (Cozen), Monday, 6 June 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

Maybe they could hold it in to the extent that they can literally piss off by letting it out as massive jetstreams that carry them over the compound and maybe into the atmosphere?

Negativa, True Believer (You know you love it when I'm dressed in drag) (Barima), Monday, 6 June 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

talking of massive jetstreams: woah, the freudian symbolism of maxwell and the big hose. "yeh, vat saskia, she's orf the 'ook. phwoaar, eh?" squirt squirt SQUIRT.

and anyone who doubted me re: the evil at the heart of lesley ... i refer you to the sub-school-bully behaviour with sam and the make-up bag.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 6 June 2005 20:55 (twenty years ago)

It was edited sympathetically to Sam, I feel, which is about right.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Monday, 6 June 2005 20:57 (twenty years ago)

I hate the way kemal over-enunciates.

teeth montrose (Cozen), Monday, 6 June 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

(... it's to fill out the inconsequential rubbish he's spouting and it sounds very patronising, even when the content is the opposite.)

teeth montrose (Cozen), Monday, 6 June 2005 21:00 (twenty years ago)

Kemal so obviously believes his own hype, being "mature" and all that guff. Most 10 year-olds are more mature than he is.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Monday, 6 June 2005 21:01 (twenty years ago)

The whole point of pissing yourself is to keep your trousers on! I would win BB.

Hari A$hur$t (Toaster), Monday, 6 June 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)

hmm. BB7 infiltrated by ilx0rs. this is almost do-able.

count me out, mind.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 6 June 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

I hate the fact that this is the first Big Brother I've decided to actually try and watch largely because the house is full of asswipes.

BUT, I will say that Lesley is a fucking munter and that bit where they showed her tits was horrible. They are all veiny and disgusting. I think that Saskia (the racist one who hates immigrants) has a big bum and is a bit rough, actually, without all the makeup.

Sam is the only one who looks stunning night and day. I have no idea who the guys aren't letching over her more and she probably wonders the same thing.

Roberto is the best of the lot cos he's a cunt and an argumentative one.

Television Tim, Monday, 6 June 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

Today was the best episode in a week. I was seriously about to stop watching. Best of today:

  • Science (while smoking in bed, I might add) alleging that he had incurred "a semi" after grinding from Makosi (hot!). (+ Anyone who talks about getting a semi without a hint of irony deserves to win. Period.)

  • Maxwell watering the lawn (???) while talking to Craig about Saskia. Touching and surreal.

  • Science and Derek's "little chats." So cool. Let's make this a regular thing.

  • Sam's weird flipout over the makeup bag. Potentially the scariest thing so far.

  • fields of salmon (fieldsofsalmon), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 04:18 (twenty years ago)

Editing the highlights show to try to get a cliffhanger at the end: classic or dud?

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

Sam's weird flipout over the makeup bag. Potentially the scariest thing so far.

if i found myself living with someone who'd suddenly reverted to being a six-year-old playground thug, i'd probably flip out too. lesley needs shot, for the good of humankind.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 07:05 (twenty years ago)

Yes, I, too, can totally sympathise with Sam in that situation.

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 07:10 (twenty years ago)

Well, as I predicted on the other thread I've stopped liking Lesley. I was sort of hoping I would have started liking any of the others though. The whole pranking/bullying thing is obnoxious and horrible, but it's genuinely hard to sympathise with the vain fuckers it's been happening to.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:15 (twenty years ago)

Against all my best intentions I couldn't help feeling ridiculously happy when Saskia was in the bathroom watching Maxwell talk about her to BB: "She is off the hook!" and she was all delighted by it. For that one supersweet moment, I'm giving Maxwell a weeks grace.

The Leslie/Sam thing at the end was a fucking horrible piece of tv. Leslie has risen to the top of my shitlist. Sam seems to be getting increasingly isolated, and while it's mostly her own fault (for trying to play the boys off against each other, and near-totally ignoring the other girls) it's never nice seeing someone bullied like that. Actually, it shocks me that these people are over 18, esp. Leslie's "I love you Sam!" in the midst of catfight [staple numbhead bitchy girl insult of every Northern secondary school of like, ever].

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:18 (twenty years ago)

I normally find myself liking pretty much everyone at this point in a series, this year's seems miserable and hostile. Maybe it's just me, though.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:23 (twenty years ago)

It struck me last night that the Talk Talk ads sandwiching each part of the programme are actually OK this year! I find them weirdly fascinating and not at all boring (yet).

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:32 (twenty years ago)

They are straightforward in style and bear repeating...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

I couldn't help feeling ridiculously happy when Saskia was in the bathroom watching Maxwell talk about her to BB

I just burst out laughing at the sight of the TV sliding out from behind the mirror.

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:34 (twenty years ago)

ow i fucking missed it, and it sounds better than usual. but they didn't allude to the lezzing, yeah?

    N_RQ, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:41 (twenty years ago)

yeah. You so missed it. Wow!

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:45 (twenty years ago)

That was a FEEBLE attempt at lesbianism. Were the best bits edited out? They were covering their mouths when they were kissing - their bodies were angled away from each other. THESE ARE FAKE LEZZAS!!

    GAH!

And, having only watched one show, I'm getting simultaneously drawn in and repulsed by it. Vanessa seems very dull - "addicted to chocolate" (yawn) and "can turn any gay man straight" (why do I get the feeling I've met you before, dear??).

Also - the make-up bag? wtf?

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:51 (twenty years ago)

vanessa thinks she can turn any gayman straight? rofl.

calum, sam is not that fit. she's kind of fit in that weird fhm type way -- ie actually quite plain. i don't get the fhm thing.

    N_RQ, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:56 (twenty years ago)

lesley was indeed bloody awful. roberto likewise but less so. and agreed they are a more unpleasant lot than usual.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:59 (twenty years ago)

If Sam just swanned around talking like Zooey Deschanel enthusing about the life and works of Pirosmani and to a lesser extent Rousseau, then that would be delightful.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:59 (twenty years ago)

I gave up watching this for a few days, it's just so unpleasant. Luckily I tuned in once more just in time to witness more of Leslie's self-loathing driven vindictivness. I hate the way if either Vanessa or craig are ever seen to say two words to Sam, Leslie syas to them "what're you talking to Sam for? You're not freinds with her now are you?" and just goes on and on until they are forced to say they hate Sam. It's beginning to slightly back-fire. Since make-up-bag-gate Kemal has gone out of his way to be nice to Sam as "it's not nice to be isolated" and Vanessa tried to distance herself from it by saying "I love to gosspip and spread gossip but not to hurt anyone".
Warming to the theme Craig then said he wants to present a Trisha-like chat show called "I'm a Bitch, What Are You Gonna do About It?".

Oh, and Ant plucking Maxwell's nipple hairs last night: [shudder].

dm, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:05 (twenty years ago)

The whole pranking/bullying thing is obnoxious and horrible, but it's genuinely hard to sympathise with the vain fuckers it's been happening to.

agreed. it takes a lot for me to sympathise with sam. but then that was a lot of sheer unadulterated nastiness from lesley.

like i said on the other thread, i remember a lot of leslies from my childhood. i assumed these people grew up when they left school. how old is leslie now? what a fucking abomination she is.

For that one supersweet moment, I'm giving Maxwell a weeks grace.

maxell and saskia are still both knobs, but yes, i know what you mean. it was almost touching.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:11 (twenty years ago)

Kemal completely pwned Roberto last night with their chat in the loft. Cozen and AdrianB are right about Kemal but I still like him the most. Can we kick Roberton out asap, it's so obvious that he was one of the shittier teachers at his school, with his mantra of "it's about respect." He's no more than a big lumbering ox who adds nothing, boot him out and let Derek become the proper Dad.

Oh, and is it part of the BB contract every year that after being a complete prick to someone you must go up to them and justify it with "This is me! I'm not hiding anything, I'm being REAL." Because that makes everything ok, honest it does bruv.

That lesbian scene was dismal. Far far far better was Makosi (there hasn't been much footage of her recently has there?) straddling Science, grinding up and down on him and then cajoling him for not having an instant stonk-on.

xpost, I didn't know Kemal had been acting like that toward Sam since MakeUpBagGate but that's lovely of him.

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:12 (twenty years ago)

I can’t watch those inbreeds. Mincing queens & slappers bitching about each other all day, I don’t see the fascination with it.

Although deeply unpleasant, I don't think she's abnormal. She is many, and her legions roam the planet. Some are in Atomic Kitten.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:16 (twenty years ago)

Leslie really reminds me of my scally sister. Sadly.

OTM. Hiding one's dislike of someone is one of the things that sets man apart from the beasts, it makes life easier for everyone concerned and I'm apalled to see it being treated as one of the deadly sins.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:21 (twenty years ago)

hahahaha! yes. this should be on the ilx faq.

what shit did sam say about lesley to provoke the theft?

    N_RQ, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

Lesleh wants flicking with the end of a wet tea-towel for playground bullying - in my experience bullies always nick the thing that represents the underlying jealousy they feel towards their victim (example: functionally illiterate bully nicks textbooks/writing stuff). Shame Sam isn't clever or self-assured enough to point this out.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

they do seem to whine a lot don't they. Also way too much sound cut out whenever I tune in, are they not aware what sort of things they are not allowed to talk about?

What's the point of you posting 'I don't see the point of this' on this thread though? It's not much of an opinion, and it's hardly gonna change people's minds. As you will though...

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

NRQ: I don't think Sam has said anything as such, it's more a case of perceived 'dirty looks' given to other girls while wearing swimsuits.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:28 (twenty years ago)

Leslie really reminds me of my scally sister. Sadly.

Les-leh lez-zed up with Vanessa, it was pitiful. Then I think Makosi joined in, then a bunch of guys. It was all jolly hockeysticks rather than a lurid XXX jizzarama.

Negativa, True Believer (You know you love it when I'm dressed in drag) (Barima), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:42 (twenty years ago)

Re the Kamel/Roberto thing - Roberto has a good point about Kamel being "disrespectful" to his parents, by revealing his sexuality open on tv without telling them first. However, Roberto making those points in a hostile way in front of the whole group was a blunder, as it just meant he was shouted down, which he should have expected really.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:14 (twenty years ago)

yes. kamal's parents must have been totes shocked.

    N_RQ, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:16 (twenty years ago)

I don't know what Roberto did that was so bad really.

Roberto said that Kamal's parents really ought to have known their son was gay (although to be fair they'd have to be braindead not to notice it surely?) and that parading it on national TV is maybe not the wake up call they would want. It is fair enough man, if your parents are going to be the last people to know then surely that is a bit out of order?

Sam is really pretty IMO but because she remains a braindead slapper she hasn't the intelligence to shrug off the attacks from the even more braindead slappers in the house. That she towers above every other girl in the house in terms of beauty should make her happy enough, really. Lesley is a fat munter and Vanessa is a 4/ 10 at best - I wouldn't touch either of them, or Makosi or Saskia for that matter. Huge butts never did anything for me.

So Sam is the sole bit of totty and quite a number, thinks me!

Television Tim, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:20 (twenty years ago)

Incidently, is Craig gay? He cannot be straight, surely?

Television Tim, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:21 (twenty years ago)

I think Craig is somewhat confused.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:24 (twenty years ago)

You can't have any sympathy for Roberto, surely Calz? He used to be a squaddie, after all.

    aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:24 (twenty years ago)

Maybe he's the opposite of Kemal i.e. his parents know but he doesn't.

Makosi is the only one I would IIWS...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

Erm, someone list what Roberto did that was bad? ta?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

apparently craig doesn't believe in labels such as "gay".

    or "tedious".

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

Maybe Kamal thinks that the "my family didn't know I was gay! I don't know how they'll behave when I come out!" factor is what helped Brian Dowling win.

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:28 (twenty years ago)

And how marco described himself as "straight acting" last year...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:33 (twenty years ago)

    Roberto's crimes against humanity:

In front of most of the housemates, loudly hassling Kemal for only coming out to his parents while inside the house. Fair point maybe, but it was unnecessary to bellow this while stomping about and aggressively jabbing his finger. Oh and his argument went little further than "It is about respect, man." As Kemal pointed out, it's nothing to do with Roberto and he has no right to take the moral highground over it.

But it seems like Roberto has some deeper beef with Kemal, like when Kemal made dinner for everyone and Roberto had a tantrum about not having as much meat as everyone else, pissing off the rest of the housemates who didn't want yet another round of screaming while eating their meals.

In conclusion Roberto is a witless droning lummox who tries to stir up controversy but fails due to his lack of smarts and charm. I'm guessing this is why TT above is such a big fan.

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:41 (twenty years ago)

Oh and who saw Craig's parents on BBLB? A real couple of horrors. Mum with a slapped-arse face threatening to scratch the eyes out of anyone who'd dare diss her little precious. His dad, a PE teacher. Nuff said.

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:44 (twenty years ago)

    Ha! LATENCY ALERT (whooop! whoop!)...

I laughed when I saw Derek flattering Science: Grooming 101. Although it might be wise to avoid comments which suggest Derek might be adept at this. He reminds me of this fashion hag I used to work with called ¢ypr!4n, right down to the Toff Realness.

I don't get to watch much BB because I'm not the only watcher of telly here and Ed HATES it.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:07 (twenty years ago)

Actually, I think they are all gits in the house but at least Roberto is up for a good arguement and tells people what he thinks and he IS cooking for everyone so, hey, why the fuck complain? Ingrates.

My fave is Sam anyway, simply becoz she has great legs/ ass/ breasts

Television Tim, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:39 (twenty years ago)

Sam's nice enough but Makosi is way better looking, by your very criteria..

    Anyway....

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 13:10 (twenty years ago)

Is she the one whose father tortures babies for Robert Mugabe? White babies?

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

It could be entirely innocent (and probably is) but I kinda find the whole Derek-takes-Science-under-his-wing thing as more than a little sleazy. I wonder if Science has noticed. Doubt it. For a would-be rapper/MC who calls himself "Science" (and I still do want to maim him for this) he's quite remarkably slow on the uptake. And BTW "It slipped" has to be the worst excuse ever.

Roberto used to be a squaddie; that explains a few things. Whilst I see his point with Kemal; it was not the best of ways to bring it up. Maybe his main problem is that he hasn't realised that the rest of the world isn't Italian.

Lezz-leh (and her scary breasts) vs Sam : it was bullying and it was out of order but it wouldn't have gone as far if Sam hadn't decided to kick off so vehemently about it. Possibly it's not just an issue of Lezz-leh's self-esteem but also Sam's; perhaps she feels thaT her physical appearance (which is not unattractive, I have to grudgingly admit) is the only thing she has going for her over the other girls ('cos let's face personality ain't her strong suit, is it?) Any threat to this perceived advantage is going to send her into a panic. i.e. "But it's got my lip gloss in!"

Saskia as BB: Well, she could have used her 3 questions to gain some real insight into her housemates rather than just as the equivalent of: "Does Maxwell fancy me?" It really does tell you where her heads's at.

Maxwell: Tosser. 'Nuff said. And the same to his Geordie-fuckin-mini-me. Get a bastard personality of your own!

Vanessa is a little trier, you have to give her that. After failing to register any real personality whatsover she does the fake lez-up with Lezz-leh just before the noms. Desperate measures for desperate times I guess. And am I the only one who finds the sound of her voice intensely irritating?

Oh yes and now I fancy Makosi even more: Not only is she gorgeous and slightly evil. She also filthy! All we need is really clever and totally fucked up and you've got my type (According to my best mate that is)

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

Makosi has an afro, she looks like a less glamorous version of Pam Grier in Coffy. Afros are a turn off IMO - I'd see if I could wet her hair down, give her the Scary Spice post Spice Girls main of hair and see if that made her look better.

But Sam is definately very cute and foxy looking. She's the only one in the house I'd letch over.

Maxwell is a lad and lads ARE assholes but as I said - everyone this year is a prick, which is why it is suddenly worth watching.

Television Ted, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 14:02 (twenty years ago)

    Shush.

I'm really hoping it's Roberto and Sam in the nominations and the producers manipulate us into booting Robbo out.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

Calum should apply, it'd be interesting to watch him on BB, shorn of horror movies, and without ILX to communicate with. He could have a big shoutout to Ned as well, like Jason did with the "Victor Ebuwa!" moment last year.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 14:49 (twenty years ago)

Kemal's business is none of Roberto's business and he should have keep his nose out. But just as make-up-bag-gate has nothing to do with the make-up bag but with long-standing animosity between Lezza and Sam, so Roberto and Kemal also have a ‘history’ of arguing. Still, Roberto got told.

Lezz-leh (and her scary breasts) vs Sam : it was bullying and it was out of order but it wouldn't have gone as far if Sam hadn't decided to kick off so vehemently about it.”

Sam wouldn’t have kicked off so vehemently if she hadn’t been repeatedly verbally attacked and bullied by Lesley since day one when Sam was making moves on Anthony who Lesley fancied. It started when Sam climbed into bed with Ant on about day 2 and Lesley exploded in a fit of pique, laying into Sam, shouting “ooh, look at me, look at me!” precisely in the same way as that awful woman off Wife Swap. Since then she hasn’t wasted a moment to throw her weight around, threatening to Sam that she is going to “gouge your eyes out” and so forth. As far as I’m aware, not one of these attacks have been shown on the main programme.

Roberto and Sam up for nomination, and Sam to get the boot on Friday. Derek might also be nommed. He’s really getting on my tits at the moment.

All housemates are up for nomination, according to DS:

All twelve housemates have found themselves up for the chop this week after Vanessa broke a fundamental rule.

Yesterday's nominations session would have seen Derek and Sam going forward, with six votes a piece.

However, in a conversation which took place yesterday afternoon, Vanessa confessed to Lesley who she intended to nominate.

A statement from C4 reasoned: "Big Brother has decided that this week's nominations are null and void and ALL 12 housemates now face eviction this week."

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 16:38 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I suspect Sam will be voted out. I'd much rather it be Lesley or Roberto though. Or Craig. Actually no, Vanessa, she's the most unentertaining person in there.

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 16:47 (twenty years ago)

A good way for Endemol to increase voting revenue, while also punishing Vanessa, no?

AdrianB (AdrianB), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 16:52 (twenty years ago)

They don't tell them the percentage of the vote each got when they evict people normally, do they? It'd be good if they told them who came second, third and fourth so the people who stayed in would realise how much everyone in the country hates them. I'm quite eager for Maxwell to have what a worthless cunt he is made painfully clear to him.

M Annoyman (Ferg), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

I normally find myself liking pretty much everyone at this point in a series, this year's seems miserable and hostile. Maybe it's just me, though.

I still like everyone except Craig! And maybe Kemal. I wish Kemal wasn't gonna win BB6, it messes up the neat teleology whereby he he turns out alright by morphing into me in a couple of years.

vanessa: i've never told anyone this in my life but i'm bisexual
craig: i hope i'm not up for nomination this week

nice bit of empathy there from the only straight man in the village house.

lesley started the show saying that she wanted an apology from sam for stuff directly caused by her hiding sam's makeup bag.

maxwell must go. (based solely on his 3/4 length trousers)

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 07:49 (twenty years ago)

The live feed was interesting tho because it shows why Lesley's an effective bully: the edits make it look like it's all just size and bluster, but she's sharper than those make her look, even if it's just mean cunning directed against others. She was doing a catwalk thing imitating the way other housemates walk, and it was awfully bitchy, and it was making everybody else there laugh. Once you're making the non-victims laugh, they won't read it as bullying.

The other truth about bullying - and I say this having been bullied and a bully - is that even if it sometimes starts with jealousy, it's mostly motivated by contempt. Sure Lesley was jealous of Sam initially, but I think the continued feud is driven by how weak Sam has turned out to be: Lesley at this point is bullying because she can.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 07:59 (twenty years ago)

Craig, Vanessa and Leslie were horrific in the diary room. I have completely forgiven Roberto now that he didn't nominate Kemal (C.Brooker in the Guide described Roberto as having the cartoon face of a foolish horse, I can't look at him now and not think that). If Sam is evicted and not C, L or V then it will be proof that the world is bad. Hopefully this won't happen as the CH4 shows appear to be going down a 'poor pretty bullied Sam' vs 'brutal bitch Leslie' route. And quite right too. Leslie. Must. Go.

Interesting how Anthony, Maxwell and Saskia piss away their time smacking each other with a slipper while the three (arguably) least attractive housemates bitch and plot against the others. I am astonished that Craig isn't gay.

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 08:20 (twenty years ago)

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

I loved how Kemal unleashed the fury in the diary room for his nominations. "I AM PUNKING HIS ASS!"

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

Well, if Craig says not, I'll believe him. That model bloke from a couple years ago proved not to be also, even though Graham Norton was like "hey I can tell" about him.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

Doesn't his BB profile say he likes 'Fit men' or something? This isn't solid proof, of course, but it is confusing.

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 08:30 (twenty years ago)

alex the model was bi, wasn't he? and craig is just very, very confused.

he's also a total twat, but that has nothing to do with his confusion, his sexuality or even his appalling haircut.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 08:36 (twenty years ago)

Wow, the number of people who nominated both Sam and Saskia...

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 08:38 (twenty years ago)

The betting has gone really mad on BB today. Sam was a massive favourite for eviction yesterday but it would seem that the money is all on Leslie now.

Saskia is now favouite to win in loads of places.

Davel (Davel), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 08:49 (twenty years ago)

I think Saskia might win but it's very dependent on what happens with Maxwell.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 09:56 (twenty years ago)

most of my gay friends have slept with women (one tells an astonishingly amusing story about how the only thing that got him off was the fact she had a mel gibson poster above her bed). but most of them have then had the mental capacity to make an informed decision about their sexuality, rather than flap about going: "i don't like sex".

i remember using that line myself, to cover the fact i was so appallingly inept at pulling. with craig, though, there seems to be some severe psychosexual horror going on.

derek should just give him a good seeing-to :)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 09:58 (twenty years ago)

I would really like Craig to not be gay. It seems very unlikely.

Perhaps it is due to given Vanessa's PROVEN ABILITY to de-gay men.

Or perhaps he's pretending to be straight so she doesn't jump on him.

    From Digitalspy:

This morning, Lesley was heard to accuse Sam of eating inappropriate amounts of chicken nuggets during one of Team Britney's now famous bitching sessions. Sam, not overly enamoured of having accusations levelled at her at high volume in the garden, told Lesley to keep her postulations to herself.

"One day you're going to have the shit knocked out of you," replied Lesley.

    "Stop threatening me," replied Sam.

"If I threatened you, you'd know about it you silly little tart," Lesley sent back.

    --------

This should seal Lesley's fate. Hurrah.

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

And yeah, from her video diary I thought Lesley would be vile. But then for the first few days she didn't really do much, just moped about seeming intimidated by the slimmer girls. But now... wow. A bona fide horror.

If Saskia hadn't done that awful video diary pre-entry I'd like her a lot more now. Maybe, if she has some quiet chat with one of the smarter housemates about race relations and 'sees the light' then she'll become one of the Good Ones.

Sam could end up being the most beloved BB contestant ever as long as she doesn't muck it up after Lesley is inevitably voted out. You cannot help but feel sorry for her - beautiful girl, a bit of a flirt - sure - but being bullied by a fat munter mainly because she's fit.

Television Tim, Wednesday, 8 June 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

according to (oh, the shame) closer magazine, sam was bullied at school for having spots and no boobs. if she's having to relive some dreadful teenage experience, i feel enormously sorry for her.

her mum - the source of this information - sounds to me like a bit of a horror. the amateur psychologist in me puts most of sam's behaviour down to lack of proper maternal affection.

anyway. lesley to go on friday - i think i really am going to vote, for the first time ever - and let's hope she endures a life of misery and pain for the rest of eternity.

If Saskia hadn't done that awful video diary pre-entry I'd like her a lot more now.

I was thinking about this on the way to work this morning. She's a beautiful (imo) woman who seems to have been generally quite pleasant (if dull) in the house. We'd be none the wiser had it not been for her telling video intro and I don't think people would be bitching about her looks half as much if the racist/xenophobe raincloud wasn't hovering over her constantly (and without follow-up yet i presume?).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 17:23 (twenty years ago)

absolutely. if it wasn't for that comment, i'd really quite like her: she's daft, but seems genuinely nice.

her clueless comments on the tape are obviously down to stupidity and ignorance. that's no excuse, but - as affectian says above - we can at least hope she'll listen, learn and change her mind. i mean, nobody is a complete write-off, eh?

    except lesley, natch.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 17:28 (twenty years ago)

She strikes me as your typical armchair racist who wouldn't dare say a word in front actual Blax™.

On one hand I've got myself to blame (Lynskey), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 17:30 (twenty years ago)

Reasons Sam won't become the most beloved BB contestant ever:

    - she never does or says anything interesting.
    - BB appeals to a bullying element in the public as much as it does to a chivalrous one; Sam is going to have to work hard to lose victim-status
    - Saskia has won the public over already, assuming we don't see her dodgy views recurring

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 17:31 (twenty years ago)

Yes, Lesley is an Evil Bitch From Hell, but I still maintain that she's not particularly fat.

caitlin (caitlin), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 18:17 (twenty years ago)

With some BB viewers, Saskia's views might not be a problem, let's face it.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

BB viewers come from a pretty broad range of people types, so I guess you are correct there.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

What were Saskia's comments exactly? I saw them at the time, but just recall something like, "I'm not racist, but I'm against immigration." If someone said that to me I wouldn't want much to do with them, but I wouldn't want anything to do with anyone else in the house either, based on the things they say.

Her ignorance about how it is known to be laughable to begin a sentence with "I'm not racist but..." would be standard for Big Brother contestants in general I think. I mean, none of their opinions about 'issues' should be taken seriously. I don't think their opinions are serious parts of their lives. An exception, in this series, might be Derek, who presumably kind of agrees with what Saskia said.

I mean, the only reason to imagine she is racist, in a fuzzy and simple way, is that she chose to talk about immigration in the interview. But maybe she was asked a question about politics/immigration, and didn't bring it up herself. I don't know.

I'm not keen on Saskia, anyway, mind you.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 9 June 2005 06:36 (twenty years ago)

She said something like 'I'm a quarter Sri-Lankan so I'm not a racist but...' and then went on to criticise immigration. Obv these views can't be defended but I wonder what questions she was asked and what she said round about these isolated comments, those wee clips of the contestants before they go in are obviously edited to make them all look like arseholes. Most of them seem to be living up to this nicely mind you.

so i ws watching the live feed yesterday (looq i like the birdsong, its like being up just before dawn drops) and while lesley ws endlessly rearranging her police sergeant outfit to give ant + max a nonchalant walk-by glimpse ("glimpse") she said something like "i'm the only one that hasnt been chatted up, i wdnt go out with them outside of here (etc) but i feel really ugly". even tho everyone crowded around after like aww no babe it did seem real for a second

I cannot believe I went to DS and looked this up, but apparently Lesleh went to Sam with Craig and made noises to 'make up' (after telling her she needs a slap a few hours before) but really just reinforced 'why nobody likes yeh, Sam' (say, Anthony/Max) which is a classic bully isolation tactic. Lesleh is also shadowing/eavesdropping on others' conversations, looking for scraps to use later. Which we've all seen at school whether or not we've ever been on the sharp end. Sam can't win against this, because if she DOES answer back, Lesleh will just play the victim.

If I were Sam I would bide my time, PUT ON SOME CLOTHES, then wait until the 30-minute window Lesleh will have where she is wearing that ridiculous Ann Summers hen night copper's outfit and is getting ready to leave. And then say whatever it will take to wind up the girl so she reacts like a fishwife, has her night ruined, and leaves the place yelling that she's going to 'get' Sam someday. At which point Sam should just blow her a kiss and wink at her.

my friend's five year old nephew could verbally destroy lesley. surely sam's old and bold enough to let rip with a few comebacks?

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 9 June 2005 09:09 (twenty years ago)

Saskia strikes me as someone who just hasn't ever met anyone with a different shade of skin colour. Her line about how *they* "just want to kill us all, don't they?" smacks of someone who hasn't thought about it too much, just swallowed the standard Daily Mail line. I'd like to know why she came out with that, if it was prompted by BB or if she blurted it out off her own back.

If the subject of immigration/race relations does ever come up - I can imagine Kemal and Derek having smart things to say, but er, not Maxwell - it'll definitely be shown, they can't have Saskia saying that in her video and then not follow it up. And yeah, she doesn't seem too wedded to her views, I imagine she'll be all "my gosh, I was living in a world of blindness and cruelty but now I see!" and the public will AWWWW and she'll end up in the top 3. And I agree with Stevem, she is very pretty. And basically decent - when she saw Vanessa on the screen and gave a disapproving look about her Sam-tormenting.

ah whom i tryin a kid, its cos ov her big busters innit [/CRW]

elwisty (elwisty), Thursday, 9 June 2005 09:20 (twenty years ago)

Lauren, Sam might well be choosing her moment (Max called Lesleh a bully in front of everyone already so the next move is up to her). I mean, none of them have any idea whether or not their conflicts are even being seen by the public due to the editing process but when they announce Lesleh's name it will be apparent that the public have noticed what she's done. Also isn't it obvious that Craig is a remora in human form and will just latch on to whoever?

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 9 June 2005 09:22 (twenty years ago)

it'll definitely be shown, they can't have Saskia saying that in her video and then not follow it up.

I'm not especially attracted to her tits personally. Her nonsensical xenophobia is depressingly common and is atypical tabloid-reader attitude. Basically this country is brimming with people with the exact same attitude as her, so I wouldn't have thought expressing her views, however ignorant, on the matter are going to do her that much harm as opposed to just being boring, 'too nice' or whatever.

If I didn't find her slightly attractive I probably wouldn't be as eager for her to amend her views, I'd write her off Leslie-style. This probably reflects badly on me as a person. i though saskia was in the wrong in that particular argument, this bullshit 'little chat' stuff..

    N_Rq, Thursday, 9 June 2005 12:36 (twenty years ago)

considering all the noms Derek got do you think there's loads of stuff (not the nonsense S's on feet - what Sam, SCience and Saskia? i can only nom 2!!!) that has gone under the BB editing radar?

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Thursday, 9 June 2005 12:40 (twenty years ago)

    Who has been nominating him?

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 9 June 2005 12:41 (twenty years ago)

Man, you kids like your ladies to have big behinds...

Television Tim, Thursday, 9 June 2005 12:53 (twenty years ago)

makosi and someone else were saying that derek was well trying to influence people beyond the 's' thing...

    N_RQ, Thursday, 9 June 2005 12:56 (twenty years ago)

Anthony nominated him, Max and Science (surprisingly) definitely did. Some others too, I think he got around 8 nominations.

Affectian (Affectian), Thursday, 9 June 2005 12:58 (twenty years ago)

    Sam nominated him too.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:00 (twenty years ago)

I haven't watched this for about a week but this thread has me enthralled. Is it very wrong that I am forming judgments not on what I see, not on what the BB site relays to me, but on what everyone here is reporting?

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:01 (twenty years ago)

    yeh same here!

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:05 (twenty years ago)

igws that the threads > the show

    N_Rq, Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:07 (twenty years ago)

xx-post: no. this thread is far more enjoyable and informative than the programme itself, which is basically just stupid people shouting at each other.

I really, really dislike Ultragrrl [edited title - mod]

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:16 (twenty years ago)

oh don't worry I will be watching BB properly in the next few days due to necessity of curtailing social calendar in favour of having money and energy for Sónar next week!

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:18 (twenty years ago)

I haven't watched any of this (I don't have a TV) and yet am hooked by these threads and the occasional shameful visit to the official site. I cannot believe I want to hit Craig and Lesleh without ever having heard them speak. Note: This thread has also made me escape permanent lurking. Dear God.

Bill (bill), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:35 (twenty years ago)

oh man. you don't ever want to her lesleh speak. believe me, you don't. an adenoidal nightmare with a really unattractive huddersfield accent, harping on about her flipflops/tits.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:38 (twenty years ago)

I could stand it if she harped on about flipflops whimsically. Somehow, I can't see this happening.

Bill (bill), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

Believe me, the fishwife comparisons for Lesley on this thread are completely accurate, Bill.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

I simply can't stand ANY of them. Brilliant telly. The only one who's gained plus points with me is Science for his drollery during the hospital stuff. I think his problem is that his accent just sounds threatening by default to the rest of the food tubes. Maybe Makosi and Vannesa as well for not being as tar-and-featherable as the others.

The whole thing is just serving to remind me how excellent and entertaining Dan was.

On one hand I've got myself to blame (Lynskey), Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:43 (twenty years ago)

Maxwell, forbidden from speaking, is given a chalkboard with which to communicate. He painstakingly draws a raised middle finger on it to show to Big Brother.

M Annoyman (Ferg), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

the only thing you can say in the house is words.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:37 (twenty years ago)

On his first chalkboard, before he drew the finger, I was struck by how his handwriting looked like that of a barely-literate child.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:38 (twenty years ago)

I've been away for a week. Lesley is the worst person... in the world. I want to smash her face in with a hammer. This is not like me. What is going on??

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

holy shit derek is such a cunt.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:41 (twenty years ago)

    welcome back, alba.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:41 (twenty years ago)

What on Earth was just going on with Derek and Sam?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:41 (twenty years ago)

He seemed rather threatening to Sam there. "I don't joke. Joking is not my" - um, forte? something like that.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:42 (twenty years ago)

But I liked his "like Saskia without the toilet, like Roberto without food" thing. I think I might dislike Max less than the rest of them, somehow. He makes me laugh.

Sam pouts like Victoria Beckham, which is a really annoying and slappable trait. However, she is not as downright obnoxious as Lesley, who really is just unbearable.

Derek's an odd one, isn't he?

    (xpost x a few)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:42 (twenty years ago)

How did Sam just take that? Why did he speak like that to her?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:42 (twenty years ago)

I thought Roberto just shouted "Niggers!" at Makosi and Sam.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

Was it just "Knickers" in a dodgy accent?

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

    Yes, I think so.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

    Dear God Vanessa is STUPID!

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

sam reminds me of sherry from twin peaks.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

I still like Vanessa, if only because her photo makes me laugh every time I see it.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

"it's not a one in twelve chance of going out, it's a one in a half chance, or something". What ARE you talking about?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

Didn't Maxwell's note to BB on the blackboard complaining about not being allowed to speak read "It's the only way I know how to do" or something?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:48 (twenty years ago)

omg Lesley even managed to turn her apology into being REALLY REALLY NASTY. she's truly odious! unfortunately Sam does not make a sympathetic victim at all.

I am finding myself warming to Maxwell, eek. he was quite funny today.

I think the heat is getting to them all, mental breakdowns are surely in the very near future.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:50 (twenty years ago)

Maxwell's board did read that, yes. Seems like Lesley to go now.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)

In normal cirumstances I wouldn't really like Sam but these are not normal times and yes, I even found myself thinking Maxwell a bit of a hero, just for being on her side.

Apparently, people now think Sam tried to poison them with a salt overdose last night.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:54 (twenty years ago)

    She should have.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:56 (twenty years ago)

I think it's reprehensible that Lesley said to Sam, "One day someone's gonna kick your head in for the way you speak to people" (bullying, violence unacceptable, etc), and at the same time I think someone URGENTLY needs to say it to Derek.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:57 (twenty years ago)

Can someone explain to me what prompted his psycho attack on Sam because I was kind of distracted by typing something here at the critical time.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

I note that a Lesley/Craig alliance appears to have developed. The HORROR.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

I think Derek just snapped, having spent much of the day grouching.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:00 (twenty years ago)

Maxwell's whole diary room performance with the chalkboard was great. I think Max is the only one I would willingly spend time with at the moment (this is the only criteria I have for judging which housemates I like most).

BB's very, erm, chavtastic (since that's an officially recognised word now) this year. Giggly girliness and exhibitionism and bitchiness and stupidity are not qualities I take to in people and they're all over the place in the BB house this year.

I liked hearing Big Brother say "fuck" and "shit" when quoting Lesley back to herself.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:01 (twenty years ago)

Derek is mental and it terrifies me that he is/has been in a position of political power.

As annoying as Maxwell and Craig are, if Lesley doesn't get near 100% of the vote there's something very wrong with this country.

M Annoyman (Ferg), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)

Is Lesley related to Lizzy Bardsley off Wife Swap, who previously held the record for the most hated woman on British TV?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

it's all very hollyoaks. big brother is where they round out the hollyoaks characters. it's best watched as a companion piece.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

omg Lesley even managed to turn her apology into being REALLY REALLY NASTY. she's truly odious! unfortunately Sam does not make a sympathetic victim at all.

but that wasn't an apology: that was lesleh's brain slowly going clunk, clunk, fuck, might look like a cunt to millions of viewers, better try to claw something back.

"i've got men falling at my feet": yeh, love, so did medusa.

I am finding myself warming to Maxwell, eek. he was quite funny today.

thank fuck, it's not just us. mrs fiendish's rationalisation: the laddish cock(ney) maxwell who went into the house was a caricature, and the more likeable (if still astonishingly thick) maxwell we see now is the real thing. well, we can hope.

either that or it's a fascinating experiment in psychology and perception: ie how long does maxwell have to be juxtaposed with lesley before he begins to seem like a reasonable human being?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

on previous BBs, did all the housemates start to hate each other so openly so early on? we've barely reached the end of week 2 and the levels of hatred have gone beyond last year's alliances already - there aren't any real alliances, but lots of people who really can't stand being around each other. apparently today Roberto threw food over Maxwell, Derek and Science can't speak without showing their mutual disdain, and Makosi and Science had a row over a grape.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

I think Maxwell might even win it. Just a hunch.

AdrianB (AdrianB), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:10 (twenty years ago)

but that wasn't an apology: that was lesleh's brain slowly going clunk, clunk, fuck, might look like a cunt to millions of viewers, better try to claw something back.

and she still managed to make herself look even more odious to millions of viewers! I couldn't work out whether Sam was just ignoring the really hurtful things she was saying, or whether she was too dim to notice.

the laddish cock(ney) maxwell who went into the house was a caricature, and the more likeable (if still astonishingly thick) maxwell we see now is the real thing.

haha that's what Mary said about him too.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

Does anyone else have great difficulty in following this report of their conversation? I mean, I just have no idea what anyone in it is on about. Is it because they can't string a sentence together, is it badly transcribed or am I just thick?

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:13 (twenty years ago)

It's not just you, I genuinely like Maxwell more than the rest of them. (for reference, my favourite contestants in past series have been Anna, Dean, Alex, Scott (and Tickle) and Victor).

    (xpost)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:13 (twenty years ago)

    yay dean!!

Makosi and Science had a row over a grape

    no. no, please. no!

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

Is it because they can't string a sentence together, is it badly transcribed or am I just thick?

two out of three ain't bad. which leads me to mention, alba, that your sage advice is needed on the ned/glasgow thread :i~

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

Actually, Alex bullied a friend of mine at school. He's a twunt, sorry Ailsa.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:19 (twenty years ago)

I don't think we should rule out bullying altogether.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

No N, this girl is lovely and she told me he really made her life hell for years.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:24 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but compared to the rest of the contestants that year (Spencer? Jade? Jonny? KATE FUCKING DIMWIT LAWLER?)

Suzy, is there anyone in the world you don't know?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:25 (twenty years ago)

I don't like Alex either, I'm just saying.

    x-post

Spencer was fucking great and he went out with my cousin.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:26 (twenty years ago)

Sam got topless. She has nice tits. Hopefully see more of that.

Television Tim, Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

    Spencer was tops.

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 9 June 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

Spencer fancied Kate so was clearly a fool. I wasn't that fond of Alex, but there were so few likeable ones that year too (I quite liked Alison as well).

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:00 (twenty years ago)

Sam reminds me of Kate quite a lot. And Melanie from BB1 a bit, except she was a lot smarter.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

I hated Kate and Mel maybe more than any BB contestants ever. Except Lesley.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:05 (twenty years ago)

They should bring out a psychometric test based around which BB contestants one has hated most.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:13 (twenty years ago)

Everyone would just pick Marco surely?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:14 (twenty years ago)

    Well, not Ailsa, seemingly.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

There's a world out there, clearly.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)

Who is more loathsome: Marco or Craig?

AdrianB (AdrianB), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)

Craig is more loathsome than anyone else ever, surely - even worse than Lesley.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:18 (twenty years ago)

PJ was worse than anyone but Lesley and possibly Marco.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

Big Brother (UK) Contestants - Search & Destroy/Classic or Dud

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

Oh, I didn't hate Mel then, or else I'd forgotten about her (latter seems more likely). She was really annoying though. I seem to have liked Spencer at one time, but obviously this was before I saw him being a tit on Celebrity Fear Factor (I'd still prefer him over any of this year's lot)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 9 June 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

Roberto is scaring me a bit. Like, Anthony just walked past and he was doing this stare like "Oh ho, so Anthony is wearing no shirt again now, and everyone thinks, Roberto, he has the cartoon face of a foolish horse. But one day! One day it will be Roberto who is wearing no shirt, oh yes..."

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 9 June 2005 23:41 (twenty years ago)

What scares me is that Roberto is the same age as me. I hope I do not come across as a foolish horse.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 9 June 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

Couldn't lipreaders just translate the birdsonged bits anway? I am pretty sure by this point it is some joke taken taken way too far whereby Craig mimes some bland shit and Saskia or someone practices her whistle ventriloquism.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 9 June 2005 23:45 (twenty years ago)

I kinda get why Craig has his stupid hair because otherwise his face would have no bony edge point and just fade disturbingly into the surrounding sofa, but the thing with this is that like perfect concentric target at which to aim punches and knives y'all.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 9 June 2005 23:47 (twenty years ago)

I like N's inescapable age -> character -> anthromorphic resemblance theory. How old is Sam?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 9 June 2005 23:50 (twenty years ago)

Didn't he have a really really shit hairstyle before coming into the house? I would like to see the pictures again again. Maxwell too, I think. In my naivety, it was only this year, and mostly through Craig, that I realised how much the housemates were made-over.

    xp

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Thursday, 9 June 2005 23:52 (twenty years ago)

Derek is mental and it terrifies me that he is/has been in a position of political power.

Our local paper has been trying to support Derek on the grounds that he used to be friends with our former local MP, M1chael Br0wn, another far-right gay Tory.

caitlin (caitlin), Friday, 10 June 2005 06:33 (twenty years ago)

holy fuck, derek's 'moment' with sam has brought me over to her side. what the fuck is up with that guy?

    N_RQ, Friday, 10 June 2005 07:25 (twenty years ago)

lesleh's talk with sam was exemplary. she wasn't all wrong: indeed the mens had shifted attention from sam to saskia a bit -- but lesleh never had any attention AT ALL. it was classic projection.

    N_RQ, Friday, 10 June 2005 07:33 (twenty years ago)

pointers for the derek/sam thing plz. i'm in catch up on DS and the c4 site...

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 10 June 2005 08:49 (twenty years ago)

sam was making food in the kitchen ('cooking' - ed). she asked someone to come and taste it just prior to dishing up. derek wandered over. tasting done, and food approved, she made one of those 'okay, go back to where you were' gestures, in light-hearted fashion, you know, clear the area, i'm about to dish up type material. and derek takes major umbrage and is all like 'no i WILL NOT clear the area it is OUT area how DARE YOU' and shit', and it seemed like a badly-delivered joke. bewildered sam asked 'are you joking', and he said in frank tory-esque tones, 'no, i DON't joke. joking's not my "suite" [???-ed]'. and she was all wtf.

    it was freaky anyways.

    N_RQ, Friday, 10 June 2005 08:55 (twenty years ago)

    it is OUR area, obv/

    N_RQ, Friday, 10 June 2005 08:56 (twenty years ago)

Gay Tories are all the rage - now we've got Alan Duncan running for the leadership!

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Friday, 10 June 2005 08:59 (twenty years ago)

I reckon Derek is just your classic gay misogynist/martinet. I see his like on Planet Fashion from time to time and we call them 'ooh I smell fish' boys. They think sexism is something straight men do. Sam is like a lot of girls who go into modelling: probably a bit tall and ungainly in the first terms of secondary school, insecure because of that, goes from ugly duckling to getting scouted by Storm in Top Shop but can still be made to feel ugly and awkward in five seconds flat.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 10 June 2005 09:06 (twenty years ago)

before kicking off at sam, derek had also been sitting there bitching like a fucker about how bad her cooking looked. he really is a total and utter wank.

still, at least i'm not having to revise my opinion of him. unlike maxwell. for the sake of my pride, i'm rather hoping maxwell does something truly cuntish over the next few days, just so i can feel that i was right all along.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 10 June 2005 09:09 (twenty years ago)

It wasn't so much what he said as the way he said it. Really evil staring eyes, glowering at her. I thought he was joking too because it was so out of proportion in its intensity.

x-post - yes it felt like there was a whiff of gynophobia about it all to me too. But frankly who knows what's going on in his head?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 09:09 (twenty years ago)

Sam just doesn't seem like the kind of woman haughty camp men would get on with, frankly. She's so much more of a lad's girl.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 09:11 (twenty years ago)

i have warmed to maxwell quite a lot, also to kamal, both of whom have calmed down a bit.

sam i'm really unsure about. i have a hunch there's *something* there, but all the giggling and desperado sex-talk is putting me off.

    N_Rq, Friday, 10 June 2005 09:11 (twenty years ago)

    thanks ppl

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Friday, 10 June 2005 09:14 (twenty years ago)

Derek does have very evil eyes.

I still don't exactly like Maxwell but I have to admit he's calmed down and is reacting well and sensibly - he often looks like the only one who's enjoying himself in the house, which is something amidst the general hostility.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 10 June 2005 09:14 (twenty years ago)

before kicking off at sam, derek had also been sitting there bitching like a fucker about how bad her cooking looked.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

I think Sam daren't answer back to Lesleh or Derek because she's either got no idea what the public thinks or is giving them rope to hang themselves with. What sucks is that she's got no backup right now because the other housemates are, apart from Max identifying her as a bully and then letting that hang in the air, backing off from this little knot of conflict or craftily asking for updates from Lesleh, who gloats to them. I hope they make it up to Sam for fence-sitting but the public scrutiny and their own uncertainty leaves them with not much choice about that, since there is a narrative going which would eliminate Lesleh as competition.

Watch Craig attempt to become bessie mates with Sam next week.

£100 per person per week on food and drink! That is an insane amount, why do they bitch about food so much? Do they have to spend it at Harrods or something?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

They don't get £100 a week each - that was what Derek/Roberto thought people on benefits got.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:17 (twenty years ago)

Gay Tories are all the rage - now we've got Alan Duncan running for the leadership!

They are now - but ten years ago, my MP was most definitely in the closet, and was fired from the government when the News Of The World outed him.

caitlin (caitlin), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:21 (twenty years ago)

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:22 (twenty years ago)

I was astonished to read recently that Britons now spend an average of £97 a week each on food (Londoners £154!).

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

They don't get £100 a week each - that was what Derek/Roberto thought people on benefits got.

Indeed, Derek worked it out. Something like "They get £100 a fortnight so that's £100 per person per week."

    There you have it: 100/2=100
    - suddenly the Tory spending plans start to make sense.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

you get 40-odd quid on JSA but there's other benefits, so in news of the world stories the high sums are disability allowance PLUS housing benefit PLUS JSA ect ect

i don't spend anything like that and i am a londoner. i spend less than 40.

    N_RQ, Friday, 10 June 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:30 (twenty years ago)

Anyway, THEY HAVE FAILED THIS WEEK. Passed the first two days but had an astonishing 6 fails on Day 3.

Given the number of fights over food, next week could be a trainwreck. They're already talking about buying food "by teams".

    aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:31 (twenty years ago)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:34 (twenty years ago)

    "Londoners £154!"

this can't be an average. the average weekly wage is like £240 or something. that doesn't add up.

[the 'intrusion', just call me malcolm x, was them asking questions about my bird]

    N_RQ, Friday, 10 June 2005 10:34 (twenty years ago)

The average weekly wage in London is far higher than £240, even after tax.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:42 (twenty years ago)

really? fuck about, i need to get a new job.

    N_Rq, Friday, 10 June 2005 10:43 (twenty years ago)

that 154 probably includes eating out at posh restaurants.

i'd be surprised if mine was 154 a month.

koogs (koogs), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:48 (twenty years ago)

240 a month wages is roughly 1000 a month = 17K or so before tax (based on the 17k job i had before moving here, was 1082 or something a month takehome (oh, that included pension deductions))

koogs (koogs), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:51 (twenty years ago)

Average gross London weekly wage (for full-time employees) was £624.10 in 2002 (the most readily available stats I had to hand):

    (Table 8)

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:54 (twenty years ago)

That £154 has to be made up. An average London family of four would spend over £600 a week on food!?

    I like this thread's sudden New-Puritan tack.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:54 (twenty years ago)

jesus i earn half the average wage.

    N_RQ, Friday, 10 June 2005 10:56 (twenty years ago)

the article said that this £97 pw on food was one fifth of the average wage - this seems to imply an average take-home of £500 pw, which seems highly unlikely, even in London (Nick's figures are for gross wages for FT employees, which is the minority). Also, £14 a day per person on food is a fucking huge amount. Might it be journalists surveying each other? Yes, my expenses-paid lunch was £10 and...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:59 (twenty years ago)

An average London family of four would spend over £600 a week on food!?

The Geest figures to include food bought for dependents (which is what they use to explain why people in their 40s spend the most). That M.E.N. report doesn't explain that though.

Scots splash the cash on tasty food treats

    29 Mar 2005
    Evening Times (Glasgow)

FOOD now accounts for almost pounds-1 in every pounds-5 spent in Scotland, new figures show.

While grocery prices may seem to be falling, the overall cost is boosted because, while consumers may want bargains, they also like to spoil themselves.

The report shows the average Briton forks out more than pounds-5000 a year on food, about a fifth of the average annual wage of pounds-26,000.

In Scotland, the average is pounds-82 a week, less than the UK total of pounds-97 a week, but that still comes to more than pounds-4250 a year.

Consumers aged in their 40s spend the most, averaging pounds-132 a week, though their supermarket bills reflect the fact they are buying for the family.

Those in aged their 20s, in contrast, spend just pounds-89 a week overall.

The research was carried out by Geest, suppliers of fresh produce.

    Still.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 10:59 (twenty years ago)

Derek went apeshit at Sam for joking tellingly Roberto "you can go now", not him, and was then all 'I'm going to stand here glaring at you the whole time a foot away from you'. The mad fuck.

M Annoyman (Ferg), Friday, 10 June 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

So that's £97 pw per family then, not per person, unless you assume most families do all their shopping individually and separately. What a useless figure.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 10 June 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

I think Maxwell likes a good argument - he's been quick to react and do the arms-spread threatening posture a lot before - so I wonder how much of his sticking up from Sam comes from wanting to protect her and how much comes from wanting a barney with somebody.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 10 June 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

Martin is right. It is bad reporting/press release writing to treat the gross average weekly wage for FT workers (which is indeed about £500) as being representative of actual average income. So the 1 in £5 figure is a bit meaningless. But the food spend figures seem v.high in themselves, even for people in their 20s, most (?) of whom don't have kids. I should check them against the General Household Survey official figures or something but I hate stats and I need my LUNCH.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 11:07 (twenty years ago)

jesus, i'm an ethusiastic cook, eat way too much and spend about £25 a week on food. i feed other people 2/3 times a week on this, too. those figures are totally wrong.

I wonder how much of his sticking up from Sam comes from wanting to protect her and how much comes from wanting a barney with somebody.

either or is perfectly fine. i sypathise with the guy at the moment.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 12:04 (twenty years ago)

But it's still no way £154 per week.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:41 (twenty years ago)

Watching Craig on the live E4 feed now is hilarious. He's totally cut up and all indignant on her behalf. Going on about the viewers all being fucking twats. It's like he wants to play Hindley to her Brady, but she's not very interested.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 19:55 (twenty years ago)

    Spectacular comparison!

Does anyone else tink Maxwell looks (or can look) quite androgynous at times? Maybe it's just the child in his eyes.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:05 (twenty years ago)

Les could actually make quite a bit of money now portraying this PVC-clad 'bad bitch' persona to the slobbering Zoo reading dullards everywhere.

If the voted-out housemates are made to walk through the empty house by themselves as they get voted out, it's just tempting fate for one of them to trash the place or take a dump in the middle of the floor on the way out, right?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:09 (twenty years ago)

Well that was a kind of chilling scene. I don't know if it was all in the sound and vision mixing, but rather than being the pantomime villain exit she might have hoped for, there was just this eerie air of real hatred coming from the crowd.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:10 (twenty years ago)

    davina is a pussy.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:18 (twenty years ago)

well she's not afraid to grill Les as to whether she was jealous of Sam and Saskia (blatantly obvious to everyone but Les) which you might've expected Les to take real offence to.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:21 (twenty years ago)

she takes the same mild-mannered on-side approach to inteviewing everyone.

lesley should be brought to account.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:22 (twenty years ago)

Davina is no good at this kind of interview. She got Lesley to admit she didn't like Saskia then broke in far too quickly with an "Is it cause you were jealous?" which let her off the hook - of course she was going to say "No of course not".

Oh god, now Davina is reinforcing her attitude with a "you say what you think" crap.

I do forget how young Lesley is, Perhaps there's hope.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

"you just say what you think" and "sometimes you need to be cruel to be kind" belong on the sister thread to my "rhetorical flourishes you despise".

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:26 (twenty years ago)

Me too! For this alone she deserved to go.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:27 (twenty years ago)

high point of the interview: "Lesley, do you actually have any friends?"

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:31 (twenty years ago)

She looked genuinely relieved to go, I about 25% believe the usual "I wanted to go" stuff.

Davina is awful - the only time I've seen her look as if she genuinely doesn't like a housemate was poor old Kitten, and that was because Kitten was trying to directly fuck up her precious show.

I think the series is suddenly going to become a lot more like previous BBs now, a lot of the poison will have been lanced.

I have not been put off boobs.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:33 (twenty years ago)

When Davina asked her why she thought she'd been voted out, and she said "Because I was a total bitch", for a second I was dumb enough to think she was showing self-awareness and contriteness. Then I realised that being a bitch wasn't bad in her mind. I've rarely seen anyone so (outwardly at least) so self-justifying. It feeds into her mad positive thinking about her attractiveness, her relief being evicted, everything. Did her mum raise her as a Scientologist or something?

I still don't think she really believes it all deep down, though. She can't. Or it can't last. If there is hope, it lies in the long dark night of the soul.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

Davina never really asked her to explain what she disliked about Sam (apart from her boobs not being naturally big).

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

Alba ALL BB contestants have that, you don't go on BB without a total and complete ability to self-justify anything you want. Lesley just takes it to as ghastly a conclusion as a light entertainment show can legally manage.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 10 June 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

Davina is awful - the only time I've seen her look as if she genuinely doesn't like a housemate was poor old Kitten, and that was because Kitten was trying to directly fuck up her precious show.

I feel I must defend Davina here. The post-eviction interview is quite difficult. It's a live television interview in front of baying hordes with someone who has no experience of being interviewed on telly and probably no desire to sit there and be interviewed at all. I don't think going after them in a Paxman stylee is going to add anything. Plus which, I think the post-eviction interview is supposed to elicit sympathy for the person so that it's slightly safer for them to go out on the streets again.

Also, what's the point in trying to tackle someone like Lesley about anything at all? She is, as everyone has said, utterly stupid.

My problem with all of them this year is that they're too stupid, so nothing they do or say is funny or interesting. Even listening to Derek with his stupid fucking quiz game (why did the others sit still and subject themselves to that?) "no, she said let them eat bread". Derek, are you sure? Gobshite. And there wasn't one person there who contradicted him.

I'm only watching it so that someone can say "Derek, I'm not being racist or homophobic, you're just a cunt."

    Back to lurking.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Saturday, 11 June 2005 07:02 (twenty years ago)

ha ha, i totally added that myself! Derek was saying "oh i KNOW i'm not going to win - there are so many barriers: i'm a tory, and black and gay" - when "and a cunt" was yelled at the screen by all saddos watching the live feed at 12:30 in the morning.

i wish my clever rhetoric wasn't so misogynistic. like Derek. oh the irony.

Max urges Craig to quit Sam-hating

Filed: 03:36, Day 16 by Neil Wilkes

Max has taken Craig to task over his constant bitching about Sam.

The hairdresser appears to have ramped up his abuse since Lesley left the house on Friday night.

"The wrong person went tonight," he announced to the group, adding: "Sam, let's put it this way, it shouldn't have been Lesley."

Later on, when Sam had left the room, he alleged: "I've worked with people with mental problems and she has got split personality disorder."

A disapproving Max encouraged Craig to turn a new leaf now that his partner-in-crime has left the building.

"You and Lesley didn't like her, but now fucking Lesley's gone and you ain't going to be able to bitch with her, try to fucking get on with the bird," he advised. "Honestly mate, bite your fucking lip cos she's in here with no-one."

Derek pays tribute to "crusader" Lesley

Filed: 02:35, Day 16 by Neil Wilkes

Derek laid a verbal wreath in Lesley's honour tonight as the group began to wind down after her departure.

"What was actually lost in this house [tonight] was a good crusader," he told Makosi and Roberto. "Not frightened of her own views and beliefs, [which] is always to be admired."

He continued: "Any Christian would know that because that's exactly what Jesus had to do, when everybody around him was doubting him."

Just moments after his touching tribute he asked: "Can I use part of her drawer?"

    http://bigbrother.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds7821.html

    Dear God.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 11 June 2005 09:55 (twenty years ago)

    Choice snippet from the http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother/news/newsstory.jsp?id=351

When you were in the House you talked a lot about your breasts, did you want to be in Big Brother to get fame become a topless model?

No, not at all! I'm proud of my breasts because there are not many who have got my size who didn't have a boob job. So I do share them a lot, not because I think they are my best asset because I think my eyes is my best asset.

So we not going to see a lot more of them now when you're out of the House?

    No, I don't think so.

If you were offered topless modelling jobs, would you do it?

    I don't know.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 11 June 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

From the press conference, that should read.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 11 June 2005 10:28 (twenty years ago)

Is it true that you didn't fancy anyone in the House?

Yes, it's true. There was not anyone that was my type.

    What is your type?

    Totally different from them.

Would you have had sex in the House?

Maybe, after a while of getting to know people.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 11 June 2005 10:29 (twenty years ago)

    Art thou a king then?

Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

    What is truth?

    Makosi: "I grew up there."

She was supposed to have said "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche.", so not really cake or bread. I'm not sure if brioche meant quite the same as it does now, either. However, I don't think there's much evidence that she actually said it anwyay. Antonia Fraser has argued that it was actually said by Marie-Therese, the wife of Louis XIV, 100 years beforehand, and that the Marie Antoinette attribution was put about by agitators.

So as Anthony(?) rightly said to Derek: "How do you know - were you there then?"

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 11 June 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

(Derek knew perfectly well that the commonly known phrase was "Let them eat cake" btw, Enrique - he was just trying to be a smartarse. I should know because I'm one myself. Sadly, he kind of fucked up)

    BRING BACK THAT LOVIN' FEELING

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Saturday, 11 June 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

Sam appears to be sitting up having an earnest conversation in a completely see-through top.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 12 June 2005 00:28 (twenty years ago)

    she's a strange one. i just can;t get a handle on her.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 12 June 2005 00:29 (twenty years ago)

Did Science say earlier "Without your parents, you're a fish" ?

Cathy (Cathy), Sunday, 12 June 2005 00:31 (twenty years ago)

Weirdly, Science is the only one I think I can get a handle on. He probably said that, yes.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 12 June 2005 00:43 (twenty years ago)

I wish they would all be nicer to each other. I much prefer watching the unexpected moments of intimacy when they all sit up talking than all the bitching and fighting. Science's talk with Vanessa was sweet and very silly and I liked that.

Cathy (Cathy), Sunday, 12 June 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)

    makosi is a nurse.

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 12 June 2005 08:18 (twenty years ago)

is she the only one who has a job?

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 12 June 2005 08:22 (twenty years ago)

    Lesley was a temp.

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 12 June 2005 08:57 (twenty years ago)

    Saskia has a job.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Sunday, 12 June 2005 09:19 (twenty years ago)

    "your leg could fall off."

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 12 June 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

    that was good

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 12 June 2005 09:29 (twenty years ago)

    Roberto's a teacher, Craig is a hairdresser.

Craig's man boobs are weirding me out a bit.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 12 June 2005 09:43 (twenty years ago)

anthony is a hairdresser, too, isn't he?

roberto is a teacher but he doesn't have a job, does he?

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 12 June 2005 09:47 (twenty years ago)

I mean, he's not fat or anything, it seems a bit odd that he has man boobs, and they seem the wrong shape to be muscles rather than, like, actual boobs. Perhaps as well as choosing females contestants with the biggest boobs in Britain, they thought they'd get a bloke with boobs in too.

Anthony's a disco dance diva dude, isn't he?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 12 June 2005 09:49 (twenty years ago)

    I wonder how that pays

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 12 June 2005 09:50 (twenty years ago)

    and, if it does, why

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 12 June 2005 09:50 (twenty years ago)

He apparently is a backing dancer for someone or something called Stretch Limo: Boogie Express. It'll be a hen night type thing, I imagine. Come on, he's based in *Newcastle*.

They also do a gig/club night every week at the Fubar in Stirling, and it seems inexplicably popular with visitors to their website.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 12 June 2005 09:59 (twenty years ago)

My googling has also turned up that Science's real name is Kieron Harvey. Which is not as good as being called Science the Great.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:01 (twenty years ago)

    Perhaps they are implants.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

Saskia's boobs are also weirding me out in a totally different way. They look wrong, like Jordan or Pamela Anderson wrong.

    I should get out more.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

    so should they

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:17 (twenty years ago)

    I don't think makosi is a nurse.

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:20 (twenty years ago)

    she's probably a doctor.

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:29 (twenty years ago)

Roberto would be rubbish as a teacher - kids couldn't take his constant and inappropriate harping on about respect all the time. overuse = loses power

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:30 (twenty years ago)

i'm watching 'chelsea girls'. it's like zx spectrum to bb's g5 mac. ie shit. i've missed a lot of makosi and science's conversations. what's he on about? something to do with respect and religion and saying 'i respect you but...'. what's going on?

    n_RQ, Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:35 (twenty years ago)

    you are cracking up

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:46 (twenty years ago)

    no diggity.

    n_RQ, Sunday, 12 June 2005 10:54 (twenty years ago)

i'm watching 'chelsea girls'. it's like zx spectrum to bb's g5 mac. ie shit.

But with rubber buttons to push?

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:01 (twenty years ago)

it's rubber everything in this room.

    n_RQ, Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:03 (twenty years ago)

They've never had anyone Far East Asian looking in this have they(?).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

"chelsea girls" is brilliant nrq - you ARE cracking up. is it available on DVD?

if Makosi was a nurse she would probably know what cod liver oil tasted like. unless she's new to the U.K.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:27 (twenty years ago)

    She is a cardiac nurse.

Why is it called the Boudoir G?

Cathy (Cathy), Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:39 (twenty years ago)

Are you living in the 1900 house, jed? I don't think nurses go round the wards with spoons of cod liver oil anymore. Gelatine capsules maybe.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:46 (twenty years ago)

I think the 'G' is for 'gossip'. As in 'gossip boudoir'.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:47 (twenty years ago)

it's on a not all that cheap dvd here, jed: www.xploitedcinema.com. on an italian label called raro (google time). raro do all sorts of awesome stuff.

i'm only an hour into 'chelsea girls'. i dunno if it's brilliant. it's not as good as big brother though, surely?

perhaps i have cracked up a bit, yes.

    n_RQ, Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:47 (twenty years ago)

Makosi is a nurse. She had an affair with a consultant at her hospital after finishing with Robert Mugabe's nephew.

    http://bigbrother.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds7700.html

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:54 (twenty years ago)

alba i just gmailed you something you really need to hear.

nrq, i suppose it's too early in the day for chelsea girls. anyway who am i to talk? - my attention span is so shot i can barely make it to the end of coronations street.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 12 June 2005 11:57 (twenty years ago)

    coronations

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

jed - is it an interview with modern nurses talking about how they are introduced to cod liver oil early in their training?

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

    yes, zimbabwean nurses.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:02 (twenty years ago)

warhol's 'thing' was leaving the camera on and walking away. my 'thing' is watching films AND ilxing AND keeping up with the blogs AN' ting all at the same time. it would be better if i were on drugs i have no doubt, but that's true of most things.

    n_RQ, Sunday, 12 June 2005 12:10 (twenty years ago)

    anthony: "huuuuuge head"
    craig: "fuck off"
    anthony: "huuuuuuuuuuge head"

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 12 June 2005 19:40 (twenty years ago)

how great it would have been had anthony & craig stayed in their boxes 'till the end of the show.

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 12 June 2005 19:41 (twenty years ago)

absolutely brilliant. they should do a spin-off. better still: next year's show should be entirely set in cardboard boxes.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 12 June 2005 19:50 (twenty years ago)

"I so would have done a poo in your box."

    KEMAL IS GARU G.

    aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Sunday, 12 June 2005 20:06 (twenty years ago)

Have I missed this box thing entirely, then? Can someone explain it? You can make up bits if you want.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 12 June 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

    The boxes was the best.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Sunday, 12 June 2005 21:14 (twenty years ago)

1980s pop duo Red Box have entered the house, and entertained the housemates with a rendition of their #3 hit single "Lean On Me (Ah-Li-Ayo)".

    They then shot Craig.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 12 June 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

It was inexplicably hilarious to watch the photos of the housemates while they were talking, reminded me of that fucked up American cartoon Tom Goes To The Mayor.

Gravel, housemates woke up to find a bunch of cardboard boxes with their names and photos on the side. The one who stays in the box the longest wins a big meal and access to a fridge of luxury foodstuffs. Inside each box was a survival kit - a kendal mint cake, some water and a condom. I missed Saturdays and the first bit of tonights so not sure what happened during the first few hours but I understand Sam masturabted, and so did Max (using his condom), Saskia urinated in her condom and it split as she was moving her box to the garden.

Affectian (Affectian), Sunday, 12 June 2005 21:31 (twenty years ago)

The people who gave up quickest all decided to piss off the people who were still in the boxes, by pouring water in and singing through the holes in the boxes, that sort of thing. Big Brother played shitty tricks like delivering a tray of fresh bacon sandwiches and showing video messages from housemates' parents on the plasma screen. It was quite a good laugh actually yesterday.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 12 June 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

science was v. funny and so was anthony, surprisingly.

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 12 June 2005 22:02 (twenty years ago)

do we think sam/max *really* knocked one off?

    n_RQ, Sunday, 12 June 2005 22:10 (twenty years ago)

Hi-lariously, todays News Of The World has an article titled Sam's Foam Strip Got Lads In Lather, about her stripping naked at some foam party, with a couple of badly-taken photos of this momentous event. BUT the photos in question were taken by a chum of a 'goggle-eyed' moron called Callum who even talks like ILX's resident cretin: "She was loving all the attention, and she couldn't wait to get her kit off."

Affectian (Affectian), Sunday, 12 June 2005 22:22 (twenty years ago)

Craig is reenacting the Eurovision Song Contest with Kemal.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 12 June 2005 22:31 (twenty years ago)

    Good Morning.

    Sam, mm yes..

    Max, dunno.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 June 2005 07:23 (twenty years ago)

the boxes thing was quite soothing sunday evening tv, was like touch the truck but without having to look at the contestants. the way the boxes would move about and talk was funny. science didn't come out of it too well, i don't think, both patience-wise and maturity-wise.

koogs (koogs), Monday, 13 June 2005 07:54 (twenty years ago)

I ended up watching this on the live feed. Science came out of the edited version much better than he deserved to.

Compelling telly, for some reason. Why is watching a bunch of people sitting in boxes while some psycho is dropping things on their heads so amusing?

Also, did Craig REALLY call Anthony a faggot? He has to go.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Monday, 13 June 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

craig said that. is it wrong to find it funny as well as pathetic, craig being so evidently confused about his own sexuality?

    N_RQ, Monday, 13 June 2005 08:27 (twenty years ago)

Well, I laughed too, but it was a shocked sort of disbelieving laugh..

I think Craig is attracted to Anthony, hence the whole UR GAY thing.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Monday, 13 June 2005 08:29 (twenty years ago)

Also - are they editing against Maxwell or is he really as vile as everyone thought he was?

hobart paving (hobart paving), Monday, 13 June 2005 08:42 (twenty years ago)

quite the opposite. they're editing in his favor: him + saskia is the obvious stu/michelle this time. and to be fair, i think he's okay.

    N_RQ, Monday, 13 June 2005 08:46 (twenty years ago)

Many other HM's have gone in as "Mr Comedy" and gone mad/intense, whereas Max has more or less gone the other way, and is turning into Peter Kay...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 June 2005 09:11 (twenty years ago)

yes. i can't even remember why i loathed maxwell quite so intensely, although i'm aware that i did. i was going to look back through the other thread for clues. i think his uber-laddishness was maybe a defence mechanism, and all the soppiness with saskia has brought out a rather more decent side to him.

btw: not sure where mrs fiendish saw this, but with reference to the stuff on the previous thread about him being a ringer ... she says apparently he definitely was involved in rehearsals for big brother 5 and the farm, and endemol thought he was so good that he pretty much got into BB6 without a proper audition. but, like i say, i'm not sure exactly where this rumour comes from.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 13 June 2005 09:57 (twenty years ago)

Well, the amount of hoops they make you jump through to get on the program, I say good for him if he managed to get fast-tracked.

Note that Nadia did not audition in the traditional way either.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 June 2005 10:02 (twenty years ago)

really? i didn't know that: what happened?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 13 June 2005 10:22 (twenty years ago)

She went to the open auditions, but didn't do any of the 'task/team' type auditions.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 June 2005 10:32 (twenty years ago)

i laughed when craig said to anthony re. his dancing (and after calling him a faggott) "i hope you've got extra samll pants for your tiny baby dick" !

jed_ (jed), Monday, 13 June 2005 10:38 (twenty years ago)

I couldn't understand why Anthony didn't just throw the gay thing back at Craig. Do they not realise he hasn't actually come out?

Alba (Alba), Monday, 13 June 2005 10:40 (twenty years ago)

Umm, they all came out after Big Brother announced a three-way tie.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 June 2005 10:46 (twenty years ago)

derek, after the end of the box task: "hundreds of thousands of people sleep in cardboard boxes on the streets of london every night"

About 504 people sleep outside around England on any one night, 267 of whom are in Greater London (against 596 and 321 respectively in June 2002) (ODPM, July 2003)

    http://www.crisis.org.uk/pdf/HomelessStat.pdf

a factor of more than 300 out cannot be hyperbolic or a joke or anything, really

RJG (RJG), Monday, 13 June 2005 23:07 (twenty years ago)

surely it's a great deal more than 500 though?

jed_ (jed), Monday, 13 June 2005 23:21 (twenty years ago)

    http://img259.echo.cx/img259/1719/anfony7fl.jpg

Chaos has ensued in the Big Brother house after Derek, Roberto and Craig were barred from making nominations for rule breaking.

Wow, the nominations are just really obviously being fixed now. They haven't actually had a straight eviction since the last series.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 00:36 (twenty years ago)

RJG, those homeless figures aren't from Crisis, they're from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, and they're bullshit. When they do the count, they only count people lying down as you can't "sleep on the streets" sitting up.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 00:41 (twenty years ago)

I remember when that homeless survey came out; it was quickly exposed as bullshit at the time.

Shortly before those figures were released, I took the night train from Edinburgh to London. As we were trundling through the suburbs of Birmingham at about 3 in the morning, I got up and went to the carriage door to get some fresh air. The route there runs alongside a motorway viaduct, at ground level, and I remember rumbling past a burning oil drum surrounded by about 6 or 7 homeless people, sheltering under the motorway, warming themselves.

Now, if the survey figures were accurate, I had just seen almost every rough sleeper in the Birmingham area. Except that, as these people were obviously not asleep at night, they obviously wouldn't have been counted.

(one of the flaws in the counting was: if the surveyers found someone on the streets, clearly planning to sleep where they were, but *not* asleep, they couldn't count them. They then weren't allowed to go back to the same area later.)

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 06:39 (twenty years ago)

    fine but "hundreds of thousands"

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 07:27 (twenty years ago)

hundreds of thousands is probably a bit of an overestimate, yes.

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 07:32 (twenty years ago)

So, to recap: Craig, Roberto and Derek are banned from noms for talking about them.

Also, the bit where they talked about them is played back to the other housemates, to the angre of Saskia (labelled an "assassin" by Craig) particular.

So, most probably the 'up for eviction' will be two (or three) of them.

Sam's off the hook once more, and by the week after no-one will remember what bugged them all about her? (tbh, I've not seen that much bad about her, but no-one else I know likes her at all, so what do I know)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 07:38 (twenty years ago)

it was derek who said "an assassin"

I think the playback was after nominations, wasn't it?

the conversation was derek's making but roberto contributed and craig didn't tell them to piss off

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 07:43 (twenty years ago)

the strongest people left in would appear to be Saskia/Maxwell and Makosi/Kemal. I approve.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 08:54 (twenty years ago)

From the start I thought Sam would probably win, because - although it's hard to tell - she wins the "eyes closest to horizontal" test.

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 10:19 (twenty years ago)

i think the boy maxwell might come through.

    N_RQ, Tuesday, 14 June 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

If a woman went this week and was replaced to address the gender imbalance (not out of the question, Endemol did it last year with Bekki), I think the newcomer do very well indeed.

    aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 10:39 (twenty years ago)

hmm: i'm not sure. i mean, mrs F and i have grown quite fond of saskia, despite our best efforts. plus there's the prospect of romance etc with maxwell, so i don't think she's going anywhere fast.

and it's impossible to be bored with makosi: she's in for the duration. so that's two very strong female candidates already. ok, no, i don't think saskia can win it. but makosi might. it's very early days yet.

as a group, this year's housemates are probably the most annoying and unlikeable yet. but i still think a newcomer would stand no chance at all.

I really dislike saskia, now. she really milked the being plotted against or whatever and cross-examined craig v. badly.

I really dislike vanessa, now, too. she offends me.

ooh. i've not seen any of this yet. hurrah, maybe i can revert to the security of my first impressions and not have to deal with the complex emotions of actually changing my mind.

vanessa has been offending me for a week with her sheer inanity.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 12:54 (twenty years ago)

makosi is sounding awful just now on the livestream. she has been telling sam and anthony how confident she is and how she can mix with anyone, even bill clinton, because she has natural charisma. what a bighead.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 13:28 (twenty years ago)

I actually really didn't like how she tried to make the desire to win in the box competition about gender yesterday.

It had nothing to do with "not wanting to be beaten by a woman", it was about wanting to beat everybody else.

    aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 13:37 (twenty years ago)

Derek and Roberto would so rather have been beaten by a man than a woman.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 13:41 (twenty years ago)

I agree, but that doesn't mean that was what drove them to stay in the box till the last woman had gone (which Makosi was claiming).

    aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 13:47 (twenty years ago)

im not sure about that - i can't imagine derek trying the "let's count to five and all come out of our boxes at once" if makosi had still been there. it kind of reeked of that "all men together doing the honourable thing" kind of mentality. On the other hand derek doesn't seem to register women at all anymore.

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 13:51 (twenty years ago)

I can see that being true as well, but I struggle to see how that could have been their only motivation.

Let's reverse it - Makosi only stayed in the box for as long as she did to try and beat all the men. It had nothing to do with cherryade at all, it was all about not wanting to see a man win. See how daft that sounds?

    aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 13:58 (twenty years ago)

I didn't hear what Makosi said so I can't really comment on whether she was overstating her point, but hey, people overstate their cases all the time. It's kind of par for the course, isn't it? I don't think it would make me dislike someone.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:07 (twenty years ago)

It didn't make me dislike her, but I liked her less because of it.

    aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:12 (twenty years ago)

    See how daft that sounds?

    Well, two things here:

    1. Surely this rests on whether that was her motivation or not. If it was, then no it's not daft. Just reversing something is a bit meaningless, isn;t it?

    2. Maybe that was part of her motivation, but if the point is there's a group of men assuming, for macho reasons, that there must be a male winner of such a contest, then her trying to counter that by winning is not equally sexist. It's combatting sexism. If you can't see that then that's like complaining that it's racist that there's no White Police Officers' Association.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:14 (twenty years ago)

let's face it, they're all moaning wanks (with the exception of maxwell, who's in a happy, daft, almost dog-like world of his own). the difference is that makosi moans with style and panache, and seems to be slyly aware of the pointlessness of it all.

here's a point: is she still the unlucky housemate, or is that all over and done with? the business with the cherryade in the fridge made me wonder.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:20 (twenty years ago)

the difference is that makosi moans with style and panache, and seems to be slyly aware of the pointlessness of it all.

I would argue that this also applies to Kemal. And that Science's moaning is so funny as to let him off the hook too.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:22 (twenty years ago)

You admit you didn't actually hear what she said. Don't you think that puts you at a disadvantage?

    1) You genuinely think it isn't daft to assert her only motivation for staying in was to make sure a man didn't win? Fair play then, I can't argue. It sounds ridiculous to me though.

    2) I agree with this. But you're missing my point. Why does it have to be about gender at all? It doesn't. She might as well claim it was about race.

    aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:23 (twenty years ago)

Why does it have to be about gender at all? It doesn't

It doesn't have to be about gender at all, but in my judgement it was. Are you saying all discussion of people's motives is off-limits until we invent a mind-reading machine?

She might as well claim it was about race.

I haven't seen any evidence that Derek (!) or Roberto are racist.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

I don't know why I'm being so argumentative. Ignore me. I just get turned on by women talking gender politics.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:33 (twenty years ago)

3 men vs 1 woman: there is a diff between her saying 'i wanted to beat the men' and them saying what they said.

    N_RQ, Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:33 (twenty years ago)

Also Makosi=good. Derek+Roberto=not good. So that's that, then.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:40 (twenty years ago)

Grimly, I don't think Makosi is still the unlucky housemate as there was a bottle of salad cream in the luxury fridge too, which Science was a bit peeved about. It's just that Makosi made such a flamboyant fuss about the cherryade so that was the focus of that scene.

Oh and Makosi was talking nonsense about the men only staying in their boxes because they wanted a man to win. They stayed in their boxes purely because they personally wanted to win. Not one word about gender was uttered, other than by Makosi. Watching her ramble on about this in the diary room smacked of someone making up some half-hearted excuse for copping out rather than anything based on reality. (I still adore her though)

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:45 (twenty years ago)

it was not about gender. for fuck's sake people, we're talking about how long people could stay in a cardboard box, not disparity of pay and glass ceilings in the workplace or anything important. you're sounding as stupid as they are now. however, i have to say i adored anthony's sylvester stallone in rock II-style diary room victory dedication to his mum and gran, without whom he could not have achieved what he did and the thought of whom kept him going!

    as does sanity.

    stelf)xxxx, Tuesday, 14 June 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

haha Stelf. yeah, Anthony's attitude toward The Box made me like him a lot more: "I'm treating it like sport, I'm going to win!" And when Max tried to convince him to leave the box he shot him a look of disgust as if he'd suggested punching his mum.

What's the consensus on Anthony? He seems like a simple guy, harmless and likeable. He's very much second-in-command to Max but content with that. I like the guy, I think he'll stay to the final three or four but won't win unless some he comes over all Craig from BB1 and wins the heart of a nation.

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

    Ew.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

I'm also wondering why my opinion of Max has changed. Grimly, didn't you say you were arranging a SWAT team of yobs to head down to London to break his legs once evicted? I felt exactly the same at the start but now I want him to stay in. I'm guessing Saskia has brought out a more relaxed side to him. He hasn't had one of his idiotic rants at anyone in a while, they've all been justified (telling Lesley to leave Sam alone, same with Craig). I'm fairly surprised that the Sam/Anthony/Max triangle petered out so quickly. I wanted to watch Max squirm while the other two rutted but all that died out within a day or two. There was a kiss-and-tell from one of Saskia's exes in the NOTW and the ex looked remarkably like Max (unless the NOTW styled him to appear like this, which is v possible).

I pissed my sides when he passed Craig a brew, saying "Here you go... minge." I really hope the housemates start calling Craig 'Minge'.

Masked Gazza, Tuesday, 14 June 2005 15:36 (twenty years ago)

Those are the real nominations? Even without Craig, Roberto and Derek that would have nominated her too?

    She must be very unpopular.

    Sam to go, then?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

    Blimey - it's got nasty hasn't it:

Upon hearing the result, Max told the two males: "I hope one of you two fucking goes. I can't wait to see you walk out that door."

"I can't wait to go," replied Derek with a smile.

"Good," Max stated. "[But] I want Roberto to go. What you gonna do? You ain't got no mates when one of you two goes, have you? Who you gonna kiss goodnight?"

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:06 (twenty years ago)

makosi: "if they put thirteen makosis...or thirteen sams in here, you don't even want to close your eyes and imagine it...because your eyes will explode"

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

    Meanwhile, Maxwell's charm offensive continues:

But Saskia didn't appreciate his close attention while she was showering. "Go on. P*** off. What are you staring for?" she said.

"I want to watch you in the shower," he said honestly. "You have a fantastic pair of tits and you're a*** ain't bad."

Vanessa has dropped further in my estimation after uttering the awful cliche "I'm the kind of person who can forgive but not forget" in the course of the not-very-forgiving act of nominating Sam.

I love that five of the six nominations for Roberto focused on his obsession with food.

Classic TV moment when they were all shown the footage of Derek, RObero and Craig bitching about Saskia.

heheheh. i think i said i'd travel down (on my own) to chin him. but i like this exaggeration.

i'm just catching up with the pirate stuff now on C4 - oh no, both mrs fiendish and i just laughed at the word "seamen" - so i still think maxwell might be OK. but the stuff about him staring at saskia in the shower suggests i could be changing my mind again very quickly.
