Now, have you ever wondered why they like our Mongrel threads so much? Because we're so artlessly dumb yet realistic. You know what we are? Moronic Realists. We are the village idiots. And we are sane, because we are so simple. My friends, we are role models to the world!

I'm trying to picture what such a goth would look like. They would, perhaps, pass in any crowd. maybe that's the idea. 'I'm a goth, but I don't dress goth - I don't wish to attract attention to my gothic beliefs.' Hmmm, that's possible. That's very interesting.
'I'm a goth, but not into fashion - I wear simple clothes, cheap cloths that are practical. Also, I don't wear make-up or stylish black clothes. A simple Hawaiian t-shirt and blue jeans will suffice. Or board shorts and thongs. Yet, though I may not look like one I tell you this: I am a goth.' Hmmm, seems implausible.

Crimony, I've been busy today :( My whole week on call was blessedly quiet - no night time calls (so I slept, thank christ), but today has been non stop! Mostly silly things I cant fix too. We've been doing a big sat rollout for all these remote aboriginal communities in NT and far eastern WA, which I think is wonderful. They pose a lot of logistical nightmares though, not least of which is they all run on generator power, and also if something breaks, it is days before anyone ccan get back out to repair or replace :( Makes me feel a bit helpless to assist.

Nah. I have emailed my boss asking if I can speak to him about "my position and job descrption at the company" some time this week.
I am basically going to go in and say "Well - I'm Not Happy, Jan" - this is not what I was hired for, not whats on my letter of acceptance, etc etc. But to sweeten the deal I've written up a 2 page proposal of becoming the company tech documentation writer, UAT tester, etc etc. We dont have ANYONE who does this, and we dont have anythign like consistent documents or policy on "correct replies" to the usual FAQ stuff we'd get. "I dont even know" is often our answer to something and then its like oh gee! We have policy on this? Thanks for sharing!
So, I am gonna propose I do this as a long term project, and be taken off the helpdesk. It might work, or they may say "well thats a great idea but sorry, no can do" (in which case I'm back to square one and will have to consider resigning), or they may say "you arrogant blowhard, piss off!" and fire me!
Whee!

Not paintbox red, not purple.), they bitched about me behind my back in Greek. They were lazy fackwits, and they were all homophobic, middle class, shit-eating wogs who loved watching A Current Affair and I am not apologising for calling them wogs in this case grrkewnfjewkf.

our album has hit another big speedbump. we've heard things about our label guy (that we already knew but hearing them from others drives home the reality of the situation) that are making us have very strong second thoughts about the whole thing. i still hold the masters so it's not too late..
the problem then is that it stays unreleased until we find a new home for it or bite the bullet and do it ourselves. which does not really appeal as an idea.

As for publicity, record companies are not as good at it as the artist themselves, in my experience. We got far more coverage when we did it ourselves. Or, you can hire a publicist. Or even get a grant to pay for hiring a publicist.

NO.
We don't go to see most Australian films because they're SHIT. People don't want the majority of tales from their country to be sensative tales about aboriginal lesbians coming to terms with their father's alcoholism or glorified ironic cheesy montages of Aussie culture, they want genre flicks set HERE, and by genre I DON'T mean sweaty fanboy sci-fi or horror, i mean action, thrillers, comedies (that aren't reliant on stereotypes of aussie culture), feckin' anything but arthouse!

Or, if its being unclogged and woken up you want and you dont mind going a bit batshit for an evening, try Clarinase - it has fuckloads of speedy shit in it. The 24 hour one is especially scary (240mg of pseudoeph in ONE TABLET fark). Last time I took a 24 hour one I had to pace up and down the room muttering to myself until after midnight cos I couldnt sleep or even sit still.

Ahahahahha. Those cunts. And once again, not only has Inpress not put our little bio thingy in the back section, THEY DIDN"T EVEN PUT US IN THE GIG GUIDE. THOSE FUCKERS.
In other sweary news, our show last week was recorded, and they last sound clearly audible on it is me telling the audience "Thanks for coming, you've all been a bunch of cunts." I don't remember saying that at all. It must have been all that medication youse all recommended.
I suppose none of you are coming tomorrow, so I'm going to stop asking.

Yes. At the prestigious Birmingham Hotel. With a band from Brisbane (Eat Laser Scumbag), whose gig bookings fell through, so we told them we'd give them a show at the classiest joint in town.

What a lovely day it is.
I think I've got over my issues with school - I mean, I'm still planning on bailing, but I've realised it's not me, it's them. I don't keep kicking myself about being a shit teacher, because I'm pretty damn good at what I do.
So, yeah, looking for a different school.
I came to this conclusion during a very beery pub lunch with my Dad.

I read this as 'plainning on sailing', and came to the conclusion you worked at a really posh school where you could teach kids to sail.

We're in the second division on private schools. We don't hunt humans for sport during the annual Interschools 'ANNUAL MOST DANGEROUS GAME TROPHY, we walk through the undergrowth ahead of the pack banging on pots and pans to startle the peasants out of their human places and watch as the Scotch boys gallop past on their chargers, sabres at the ready, trying to beat the Trinity boys.

We're playing with really cool voice over IP satellite phone setup thingamys here. We're gonna be setting up a high speed satellite internet service on a gas platform in Bass strait for [wellknown utility company], so like they have this satelite, and 2 wireless access points, and VOIP phones, and then this whole other giant barge nearby that can ship people in and out, that'll act like a giant floating office for them all with voip phones and internet in the middle of the freaking ocean. Fun!

comics gaz! yeah I was buying Cerebus in issues up to the end. If you stopped at Women, it's probably a good place to stay stopped. I can lend you Guys sometime, that one's fun.
you can probably read LOEG 2 first and understand it completely as long as you know the premise. Top Ten is the total jam of the proper ABC books (everyone is a superhero, it's about a precinct of superhero cops in superhero city, more settling domestic violence disputes than foiling supervillain schemes), if only they'd collected the whole thing in one book [there's seven of twelve in the first vol. and 5 in the second].
I assume you have V For Vendetta already? I re-read it this week for the first time since all the movie talk (first time since high school probably!) and it's still great. Though it should still be in b&w and magazine-size. Moore's novel is good if it ever comes out in paperback again. The Birth Caul (CD version, not comic) is one of the best things he's ever done ever. Lost Girls should be awesome when it eventually comes out (next year prolly, three big hardcovers in a slipcase, fully painted porn). Ask more specific Moore questions!
Seaguy's just a bit of silliness, fun but slight. there were going to be two more series of it but DC said no.

i reread v for vendetta a couple of years ago kit. yeah, its good. great even. i recently dug out a pile of things called wasteland - ostrander and del close on a prevertigo dc internal horror comic with art by lloyd. its fucked. just a wste of paper. why o why did i buy 11 issues of it???
i might try'n get top 10. i don't have any spec moore qs. i haven't read anything new of hs since...fuck, i dunno, 1963? the beginning of big numbers?

The arguments going on have got very circular, and it seems it could go on forever - its good/no it isnt/why not/why/because/because nothing you jerk/no youre the jerk!
... and so on. No ones right or wrong really. But the shitstorm it's kicked up is curious to say the least. I am particularly interested in the emotional investment people are putting into this, an internet forum. It reminds me of the Awld Days on IRC when I was on a #gothic channel that had a mailing list attached that got into some MASSIVE infighting for little reason other than egos. I think at one point they made everyone admins, and it just got comical after that with the banning and whatnot.
People are strange, etc.

Anyhoo.
Hey I had a weird ILXor dream about Stelf0xx the other night! He was driving a strange little minivan that had "Adolf Hitler" painted on the side in funky 50s-car signage. I was all OMG at meeting him as if he was a popstar. Weird. I dont even know him let alone what he looks like.

Gem, Heartbreaker was the first post-Whiskeytown and is a bazillion times better than anything he's done since.
Gaz I liked Wasteland! Bits of it were rub but there were gems scattered in there. There's a story drawn by Ty Templeton in one that's hilarious, and you have to love Del Close telling the story of hanging out with L. Ron Hubbard and L. going on about how he's realised what an awesome tax dodge starting your own religion would be. And oh fuck if you don't have From Hell by Moore then you need to check it out real quick. There was a local edition by Bantam that is probably cheaper than the imported US edition, you might find it hidden in the sci-fi section of the occasional regular bookshop.

77's a dive, infested with cockroaches and other vermin. rolling the cables up off stage after doing sound is an experience; that experience being having 30 odd years of scenester sweat, dead skin cells, spit, blood, vomit, cum and any other goop thbey might choose to leak rub off on your hands and leave a black snail trail that you're almost positive will give you hepatitis. the drinks are overpriced and the clientele is strictly fashion rockers and cokers. their PA is beyond substandard, and takes a shitload of work to get sounding good (i had to take rolls of carpet and have the amps off stage). if the PA weren 't so crap, I'd be more comfortable overlooking the fact that it is essentially a dingy little pickup joint in a murky basement - more in touch with the comfort and hygiene standards of the mid fourteenth century when syphilis and plague were rife.
viva 77.

Trayce, I know it's not, but they were getting hit too. There's a house being built just on the corner of my street, or they're starting. I've decided I want to photograph it from the same location EVERY DAY and then turn them into a backwards movie file so it looks like it's being systematically, meticulously demolished.Must buy camera!

The US Senate is about to hand US$1.5 billion PER WEEK (which is the cost of the Iraq Occupation) back to the superrich in America.
If you can still tip cash into the world's richest nation, well, you're amuch nicer person than I am. http://www.newyorker.com/talk/content/articles/050905ta_talk_hertzberg
Well at this stage, yeah, it would appear I am, ya bastard.
And then, when I suggested he might be missing the point and was it that hard to see the diff, he replied:
Actually, it is. Unlike the tsunami ... sorry, unlike the Asian Tsunami which is different to Americas TsunamiTM ... appearances aside, the US is more than capable of dealing with the disaster.
Thats as may be, but clearly right now they ARENT.
I think I'll quietly shove him off my reading list. He wont care anyway, likely.

Hi everybody! Wow was last night ever crappy. I really don't handle stressful situations very well! Work hassles... thought something major had gone wrong... turned out it was some dickwit single user running gnuella/limewire/wtf ever and people were leeching from him at 100kbps which considering he's only meant to get 64k out, and is on a 40:1 shared govt subsidy plan, meant a ton of other users called up and went "its broken argh!". Couldve worked out the prob in 5 mins flat and gone home on time IF I KNEW WTF I WAS DOING.
I hate this job. I need a massage and hugs.

ooh I'd like to read the Human Targets, I bought the original mini but not the HC graphic novel followup or regular series.
Grant's X-Men I bought the issues and then the hardcovers, but not the trades (the HCs have oversized pages and have three TPBs worth for like $38!). I'd flog the comics themselves if I could be arsed to sell things on Ebay...

Havok/Wolverine was co-written by Walter & Louise Simonson, co-painted by Kent Williams and Jon J. Muth (Williams painted Wolverine, Muth painted the other guy). So yeah I've read that too. Also the first few '60s ones in the rare book collection at Fisher Library. I skipped a lot of classes in my first year at uni to sit in a basement reading twenty years of Legion Of Super-Heroes ...

I just woke from the most terrible dream. I dreamt that I pulled a surprise visit on my ex-boyfriend and asked him why he never spoke to me anymore. He said he couldn't because he always envisaged me being the kind of girl who would fart in public. I was most upset by this and went to Eastgardens in Pagewood to to use a payphone and I was robbed at knifepoint buy a guy wearing yellow pants.
Weird.

This is the third email I have sent you regarding an extension on my essay due this Friday, I have also called your phone number as listed on the Griffith Phone Book webpage and in the course guide, it rang out and there was no voice mail feature attached.
In frustration, I spoke with F4wzi4 Zu114h in the School of Cognition, Language and Special Education Administration just now and she suggested that I try to email you again and to mention that I had spoken to her about the problem.
I'm not certain if there is a reason why you cannot be reached in any of the ways you have suggested in the course guide, however as you may realise, the assignment is due in two days and I am becoming quite anxious as to whether my request for an extension has been approved or not.
Thankyou
Kate O'Brien

Yeah, my husband works for the Australian Catholic University in Admin. What I find laughable is that the person I spoke to suggested that mentioning their name in the email might give it more weight. It's like, honey, you work in admin, the senior lecturer is not going to give a flying fuck if I spoke to you first or not.

the choices of medical venues?
y = 2 hr from xz = 3 hrs from xj = 1 1/2 hrs from x.
great you fuckers - why do you think i want a job at x. cos i got a fucking helicopter?
then they kept me waiting an hour and 20.
what is it with doctors? 7 years at uni and they can't arrange an appointment to be on time. ah well, they say doctors don't have to be smart - its just that high hsc marks limit their numbers. so you get a bunch of money hungry cunts with high self regard as carers
beauty.
