Now that Preston has announced that everyone should get on, now Jodie's gone, even though he liked her, etc...

Will this be the beginning of beautiful friendships from now until the end?

Or will the pack single out Rula, as Germaine seems to think?

word is, Pete is walking.....

stevo (stevo), Sunday, 15 January 2006 17:16 (twenty years ago)

...very poorly in high-heels.

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Sunday, 15 January 2006 19:07 (twenty years ago)

Stevo, you knew that before digitalspy! Are you from the future?

melton mowbray (adr), Sunday, 15 January 2006 19:16 (twenty years ago)

ailsa, i'm not ignoring it i just can't be bothered thinking about it at the moment!

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 15 January 2006 19:58 (twenty years ago)

Barrymore to Traci and Dennis repeatedly:

"You are competitive aren't you? As a race."

melton mowbray (adr), Sunday, 15 January 2006 21:19 (twenty years ago)

barrymore is in dire need of psychiatric help.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 15 January 2006 21:36 (twenty years ago)

Oh my god! What did Traci and Dennis say to that?

Cathy (Cathy), Sunday, 15 January 2006 21:39 (twenty years ago)

Nothing!

Just an awkward silence every time. :)

melton mowbray (adr), Sunday, 15 January 2006 21:54 (twenty years ago)

traci wasn't happy about it, in the diary room

I can forgive everyone everything, in the house, including a lot of stupid/annoying things but I cannot forgive bmore anything at all

him going on and on and on and on and on about what cigars GG had given him when GG said he didn't want to discuss it (as it might make people think there'd been some unfair favouritism etc)

wotta dick, as cozen might say

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:03 (twenty years ago)

Barrymore is a grade one knobend. If he thinks that a couple of half-assed impressions and a well-timed crying fit are going to make him back into Britain's top light entertainment dude once more, he's very sadly deluded.

Which, of course, he is. He's always been an accident waiting to happen, and he's set himself up for this totally. If you want public rehabilitation, you do NOT do it by putting yourself in a goldfish bowl where your every action can be scrutinised and people are waiting for you to fail.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:09 (twenty years ago)

ally called bmore something like "one of britian's all-time greatest entertainers", when he was going in

we're still not sure whether it was a joke or not

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:12 (twenty years ago)

Well, he was one of the most popular. Ally also thinks Dads Army is the funniest thing ever in the history of television, so take his opinions with a pinch of salt.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:15 (twenty years ago)

dad's army is hilarious

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:16 (twenty years ago)

I think jimmy saville was right when he said bmore did fuck all and tons of people loved him

no wonder he's a mess

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:17 (twenty years ago)

He could have been talking about himself! The adulation that Savile inspired from Galloway was quite incredible.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:20 (twenty years ago)

A friend was an journalist on the Scarborough Evening News and told me that there's all sort of stories they daren't print about Jimmy Saville. Let's just say he'd probably have no problem getting a job in a British school!

Gatinha (rwillmsen), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:50 (twenty years ago)

I've heard some rumours as well. They are not repeatable anywhere.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:53 (twenty years ago)

Well, they do say that he fucks kids.

Gatinha (rwillmsen), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:55 (twenty years ago)

That wasn't what I heard. Er, mods might want to de-index this thread as well, if it's going to get as litigation-friendly as the other one...

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 15 January 2006 22:55 (twenty years ago)

I've put in a request on the mod board, just in case.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:05 (twenty years ago)

Saville pushed past me in a very rude manner during the Great North Walk. That's probably one of the stories. I'm willing to go to court about it.

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:10 (twenty years ago)

Well, they do say that he fucks kids.

Aye, fucker never answered my fix it letters.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:10 (twenty years ago)

What was that faked Have I Got News For You thing about all the old Jimmy Saville rumours? Actually, didn't Louis Theroux actually ask him about them (the mother's embalmed corpse etc.)?

I love all these "my friend's a journalist and he says they daren't print x" stories. The first one I heard involved the Oldham Chronicle and photos of Fergie giving a drug dealer a blowjob.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:18 (twenty years ago)

Err... that's the Duchess of York, by the way, not Alex Ferguson.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:19 (twenty years ago)

I was thinking Fergie from the Black Eyed peas. I can picture that worryingly vividly...

chap who would dare to work for the man (chap), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:21 (twenty years ago)

OK, confusing Louis Theroux with Simon Hattenstone.

I think we're OK on the legal front. For a start, we've spelt his surname wrong.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:23 (twenty years ago)

I will never forget the bit in the Louis Therous Saville program where Louis picked the condoms out of JS' bag, and he was saying "hope springs eternal in the breast of a single man".

Cathy (Cathy), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:23 (twenty years ago)

Oh, looking at the Guardian interview it was all about the LT programme anyway. As you were.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 15 January 2006 23:24 (twenty years ago)

TherouX. I am spelling everybody's surname wrong.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 16 January 2006 10:06 (twenty years ago)

Don't know.

Anyhow, one more housemate to go on Wednesday.

(If they do this next wednesday as well, then that would be Burns night. Hmmm)

Rula has Pants of Power, so she's either un-nominatable, or it will be her nominations that count only.

Pete won't vote for Rula, George, Preston or Chantelle. He probably won't vote Barrymore. Leaving Faria, Traci and Dennis.

Preston, same list as Pete for won't vote for, subst. Pete for himself.

etc.etc. Looks like a Traci vs Dennis wednesday, unless it's Rula's vote only, in which case it will be Pete vs George, I reckon.

That was my reckon, tell me yours...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 16 January 2006 10:09 (twenty years ago)

was george's box idea good or bad? i liked the box thing in the original, was surreal tv, but i also liked george's approach to it.

koogs (koogs), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:00 (twenty years ago)

I love the box task

RJG (RJG), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:07 (twenty years ago)

I think the majority will vote for Dennis. He doesn't seem to contribute to anything at all.

I wish they had the sense to vote Barrymore out, all he does is cry and slur. He isn't remotely entertaining, just pathetic. Nobody really seems to be paying him any attention anymore, maybe they will vote him out.

I really dislike George and Pete, they're not happy unless they're bitching/making things up about other housemates, on the highlights show last night they were trying to say Dennis and Tracey were polarising themselves, which I have seen no evidence of.

Ideally I'd like to see George go.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:12 (twenty years ago)

Ally C OTM re Barrymore. He was good right up til the late 90s.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:16 (twenty years ago)

George's approach to the Box game was good, but not as good as he thought it was.

Barrymore was very "oh the americans wanted to compete" whereas Dennis was actually the first one to say "fuck this shit" and Traci didn't immediately jump to George's idea, had to think about it first which was fair enough.

Preston's reaction was also fair enough. Big Brother: "Coffe/Juice and croissants are served " Preston:"Bollocks to that then!"

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:17 (twenty years ago)

Box task in Proper Big Brother: they had not had booze for days, it was six weeks in, they were dead bored and fantastically competitive.

Box task in CBB, er - they get a treat which is unspecified and they already have plenty of food, booze, and fags so a prize which can't be shared would be rubbish.

George's plan would not have worked in proper Big Brother.

Pete and George in the shower!!!

Pete (Pete), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:27 (twenty years ago)

I've heard some rumours as well. They are not repeatable anywhere.

Popbitch once ran a story that in the dim and distant past, Larry Grayson liked to spread rumours about a mysterious and unnamed now-elderly celebrity *cough* *cough* who does lots of fund-raising charity work for hospitals - the reason being, he was a necrophiliac, and when hanging around the hospitals he was fundraising for, would slip a few quid to the morgue attendants to let him in whilst it was quiet.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:31 (twenty years ago)

Ally C is like Barrymore. He was good right up til the late 90s.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:31 (twenty years ago)

Chantelle 5/4 favourite now.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:32 (twenty years ago)

I heared that rumour, wasn't Benny Hill involved also? And didn't this make a plot device on one of Irvine Welsh?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:38 (twenty years ago)

His books I mean.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:38 (twenty years ago)

Oh, and Preston's band is now 33 in the singles chart.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:40 (twenty years ago)

Endemol are unprincipled wankers. I’m embarrassed to find this so compelling.

GG is being clever, manipulative and disingenuous, but not as clever as he thinks he is. Did he really think gossiping with Pete in the loo without mikes would not get picked up on and broadcast? His unwarranted disclosure about Rula was either a colossal betrayal of confidence or malicious speculation. He will play his position of power over the nicotine addicts to his advantage. It is difficult to think his decision to do BB – never mind his cat impression – will enhance his career. Still Barrymore came a complete cropper with him last night over cigar-gate, ending up looking selfish, self-pitying and fundamentally dishonest.

I fear GG, MB and PB will find another vulnerable female to gang up on and bully to paper over their own differences. Everyone is protective of Chantelle, so I suspect Traci might be the next victim. The *dumb American* slur keeps getting raised. I hope she copes, I fear for her.

A personal highlight was the otherwise invisible Maggot and his 2.00am confused, sleep-deprived rant on not getting any rest - ‘it’s chaos in that bedroom what with the snoring and farting, if it’s not that Barrymore bloke it’s that American football player’ + being utterly clueless as to who most of his fellow HM’s actually are (only shown on the ‘Diary Room Uncut’).

stevo (stevo), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:43 (twenty years ago)

What was his 'unwarranted disclosure'? (email me if it's really bad)

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:52 (twenty years ago)

he said she was really paranoid and crying and feeling unwanted ("as a woman")

wotta dick

RJG (RJG), Monday, 16 January 2006 12:12 (twenty years ago)

When they all had to dress up for Traci's birthday party on Friday night, someone asked GG who he was meant to be. He replied "I'm a count, give or take a vowel."

He ain't wrong. He HAS to be finished after this, hasn't he?

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Monday, 16 January 2006 12:18 (twenty years ago)

OK, now hang on. (xpost to the loo comment)

Just before the box task, Rula told George that she was feeling somewhat depressed because of how Pete (specifically) was treating her.

This seems to be George's way of getting Pete to 'be nice to her' without being more specific re the details?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 16 January 2006 12:18 (twenty years ago)

Pete + GG together in the shower, having taken the microphones off, Pete wants to confine in GG how hard a time he’s having.

Pete: Today I’m getting freaked out,

GG: Really

Pete: I can’t explain it to the other kids, cos I don’t want to share these issues with them ‘cos to be honest with you half of them are dumb and Rula’s going to talk to me like a mother

GG : well she’s a very vulnerable person herself. She very depressed, she’s crying in bed this morning , she feels she’s old and unattractive, she feel she’s lost it and no one wants her as a woman, she’s everyone’s mother, she was very upset at Faria describing her as her mother, she feels that people don’t listen to her, when she says something or sings a song no one picks it up, she’s quite paranoid,

Pete: This is doing people’s heads in, these are not issues I could even broach

GG: It is doing people’s heads in, that’s what it’s for. … but we’re almost, almost half way through and there won’t be another expulsion till I think Wednesday, and you know I think there are new issues opening up

Pete + GG emerge from shower

Pete: Thankyou George.

(Now, either Rula confided in GG her anxieties, or GG is speculating and sharing them with Pete. GG and Rula are close, GG might have wanted to mollify Pete’s irritations with her, but either way…… it strengthens his self-appointed position as elder statesman and confident, whilst belittling Rula I mean ‘she’s quite paranoid’ … and this to Pete!

stevo (stevo), Monday, 16 January 2006 12:19 (twenty years ago)

As I say, she did, right before the box task.

Pete was the first person to suggest Rula as the 'prizewinner' after George's suggestion.

George is looking forward to leaving the house, and using his new found fame boost and people skills to take over the anti-war movement and become its figurehead. Probably.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 16 January 2006 12:25 (twenty years ago)

BBC - "A judge has granted a former solicitor permission to bring a private prosecution against Michael Barrymore in connection with a man's death. Anthony Bennett will bring six charges which relate to the supply and possession of drugs and assault. Mr Barrymore is currently taking part in Celebrity Big Brother and is expected to be handed papers there...."

I think Preston realises that Chantelle is liked by the public and he thinks he will be the Paul Clarke to her Helen Adams/the Peter Andre to her Jordan. Or something. I thought he had a girlfriend?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 16 January 2006 22:01 (twenty years ago)

Yes but he's been watching BB you see, it's the done thing for one of the housemates to ditch a partner and have a wee fling.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 16 January 2006 22:07 (twenty years ago)

Which is why I am not entirely convinced he really wuvs Chantelle.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 16 January 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

I'm sure he appreciates the value of Celebrity Couple, even if half the couple is in a shite band and the other half was made famous by standing next to a No 9.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 16 January 2006 22:10 (twenty years ago)

Alternatively, one wasn't in a shite band and the other stood next to a No 10.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 16 January 2006 22:10 (twenty years ago)

I don't know that Preston's that calculating. Maybe he's just horny?

Every time anyone speaks to George I want to shout 'No! Don't say anything personal! Don't reveal any weaknesses! He's storing it all up to use it against you!'

beanz (beanz), Monday, 16 January 2006 22:11 (twenty years ago)

How's this work, then? I take it another MP is voting on his behalf. Wouldn't be surprised if it's Jeremy Corbyn or someone.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 16 January 2006 22:33 (twenty years ago)

Sorting out voting would be straightforward - for years, the Commons has had an informal system called "pairing", where MPs who can't make a vote find someone on the opposite site to also sit out. This, on the other hand, is effectively like someone else signing Galloway's name on a petition for him.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Monday, 16 January 2006 22:40 (twenty years ago)

Ahh. He signed them all ages ago and they've only just been published. I thought it might be something like that.

A spokesman for Mr Galloway said that the MP had played by the rules of both houses. “George signed all the EDMs during the recess and we dispatched them all in one go after Christmas.”

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,17129-1989187,00.html

If it's that fucking obvious, why aren't the BBC pointing this out in their story?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 16 January 2006 22:50 (twenty years ago)

why let the facts blah blah blah..

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 11:13 (twenty years ago)

Office Wife = Girl in the office that you are best friends with, and quite close to, but are not having any kind of affair as both (usually) are in permanent relationships at home. It's like a 'straight' version of a beard.

Any road up:

Rula's Pants meant:
1) She was exempt from noms (which was a no brainer, and anyway I doubt she was going to be nomd by anyone anyway)
2) She was told who had been voted for (i.e. the two up for eviction), and asked for a third name.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 11:42 (twenty years ago)

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 11:44 (twenty years ago)

Maggot needs to do more talking.
i think he's storing away like 5 albums' worth of material from this experience though.

snowkitten (g-kit), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 11:45 (twenty years ago)

A "racism" 'Row' basically it's just a "She said I said he said no she said no I meant oh I thought you said no it was me."

But cut to the bottom line,

George: "If there was any racism in the house, believe me, I would have picked up on it by now."

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 15:07 (twenty years ago)

Michael Barrymore is in that zone where because he is a quivering self-conscious mound o'jelly, nothing he says is going to be the right thing to say. And he's overcompensating, which makes it worse. On balance, that race comment intended Dennis and Traci as Americans and then came the size-9 white guilt-shaped foot in mouth.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 15:19 (twenty years ago)

sounds like the "race row" was faria's fault

she always overstates and talks in sensational ways I don't like her

So Rula picked Pete to be up for eviction.

Still, it must be Dennis.

For some reason, I get the names Dennis and George mixed up. I told Dawn it was George, Faria and Pete. Then I discussed that it had to be Dennis out of that list. Confused? Ah yeah.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 09:58 (twenty years ago)

I have hardly watched any of this year's celeb BB, but I caught part of last night's show. Has there been some sexual tension brewing between Dennis and Faria before now? It seemed to me that Traci was facilitating some kind of contrived hook-up between D and F in the sort of 'my mate fancies you, what do you reckon?' kind of way that teenagers do. Traci gives Dennis the nod that Faria quite likes him, and then suddenly he's all over her like a rash. Pathetic.

Faria : 'Older men LOVE me!!' I almost retched at that point. How do girls like Faria get away with using men of means and/or power in this way? It's not as though she seems to be amazingly clever, witty or beautiful, either. Baffling.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:10 (twenty years ago)

not sexual tension so much as ridiculous, ugly, embarrassing "flirting" (dennis is the ugly and faria is the embarrassing and they're both the ridiculous)

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:15 (twenty years ago)

xpost
Oddly enough, this time she seems to be doing it by allowing one other woman to facilitate and thus appear to be sanctioning/approving it. Women from any kind of yenta/matchmaking culture are hotwired to do this.

/freakonomics

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:27 (twenty years ago)

Is that some kind of racism comment?

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:33 (twenty years ago)

Absolutely not.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:37 (twenty years ago)

Oddly enough, ...

Faria's budding romance with Dennis could already be dead in the water.

The former FA secretary admitted that she requires her family's "blessing" for any relationship she has.

"It depends what I want," she told Dennis last night. "If I really like somebody, I'll go all out and get him."

"What if your mother didn't approve of it?"

"Then I'd see," she replied. "It's a problem because I want her blessing for anything I do."

Dennis pointed out that she was "a grown woman" but Faria insisted that applying such logic was futile. "It doesn't work like that... you don't understand the ways of our religion."

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:41 (twenty years ago)

But her religion condones adultery?

I don't think so.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:51 (twenty years ago)

'Older men LOVE me!!' ... girls like Faria

er, she's pushing 40, isn't she? not to be ageist or anything, but she ain't no girl. and in this instance (as in many others) i fear "older men" = "clapped-out wanks who aren't as fussy as they used to be".

they are all knobs. total spunkers. i've sort of given up on this now: i watched five minutes with the sound off last night while i was on the phone to my mum. then i put some music on.

Pass. I don't know the details. I regarded it as small beer at the time, but the papers had a fit, I know.

Funny that it's OK to try to unseat the england manager just before the world cup campaign, but there you go.

xpost oh really?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:57 (twenty years ago)

Faria : 'Older men LOVE me!!' I almost retched at that point. How do girls like Faria get away with using men of means and/or power in this way? It's not as though she seems to be amazingly clever, witty or beautiful, either. Baffling.

Yes - it was one of those moments that showed her overriding philosophy of life.

I believe her too - but it's really puzzling.

Bob Six (bobbysix), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 13:33 (twenty years ago)

The Bookies all seem to agree, Pete is going, Faria is safe-ish and Dennis is very safe.

Preston has bet Pete £20 that Pete doesn't go tonight.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 16:32 (twenty years ago)

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 17:23 (twenty years ago)

In other news: I am starting to develop a Crush of Shame on Maggot. It will probably be gone by tomorrow, but who knows.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 17:31 (twenty years ago)

anna.

that's disgusting.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 17:38 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I had hopes for Preston and Maggot, based on the criteria that they've obviously listened to a bit of decent music in their day (even if they aren't producing it themselves) and obviously listening to a bit of decent music makes you a wonderful human being. I wonder where I went wrong.

Also, Anna, yikes!

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 17:40 (twenty years ago)

Just out of curiosity, how and/or why is a guy named Maggot a celebrity?

Lars and Jagger (Ex Leon), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 17:41 (twenty years ago)

He's in Goldie Lookin' Chain, a bunch of "comedy" Welsh "rappers". He's not really that much of a celebrity.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 17:42 (twenty years ago)

hits include "your mother's got a penis" and "your missus is a nutter."

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 17:43 (twenty years ago)

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 18:23 (twenty years ago)

Faria is quite annoying, isn't she? Britain will never let a black or Asian person win Big Brother ever, or there will be rioting in the street, apparently. (ignore the Portuguese transsexuals, obv)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 21:08 (twenty years ago)

Haha Preston's response to "racegate": "But Michael's gay and Maggot's Welsh".

Why do they think that the nominations of a few z-listers are representative of the nation as a whole anyway?

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 21:10 (twenty years ago)

Haha Dennis's response to racegate: "Really...................*shouting*."

Zoe Espera (Espera), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 21:21 (twenty years ago)

Cheerio to Faria then. A nation yawns.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 21:36 (twenty years ago)

Her necklace is very noisy. As are those boos.

Zoe Espera (Espera), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 21:37 (twenty years ago)

Cor, she's getting some booing. She was booed a lot on the way in too. She's not popular, is she?

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 21:38 (twenty years ago)

During interview, she is trying to kid on that she was all humbled by the talented people in the house "I don't have a talent, shut up you lot" as if anyone was thinking what she hoped they were thinking, i.e. "you're Faria Alam and you're a dirty girl who gives excellent BJs". Except everyone's really thinking "get off the telly you dull woman". And she was telling a room full of silent people to shut up.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 21:51 (twenty years ago)

Traci should stop talking about her periods. It's like being on ILX.

i was quite shocked when Pete asked Faria 'are you on the rag?' after her blubbing.

and again when Rula called George a 'lying Arab'.

yes i've been 'sucked in' :(

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 22:57 (twenty years ago)

Even though it was crass and perhaps self-serving in a way I quite like that Faria said 'they'd never let a black or brown person win' out loud, for people to think about.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 22:58 (twenty years ago)

Then I remembered it was only Celebrity Big Brother (unlike Alam, perhaps she doesn't even consider herself a sleb herself?)

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 22:59 (twenty years ago)

Ho, this is genuinely excellent!

As punishment for talking about nominations, George and Preston have been called to the diary room, they are being shown live to the housemates and have to nominate three housemates for the public vote. They don't know they are being watched. This is possibly the best thing that's happened so far all series.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 19 January 2006 00:12 (twenty years ago)

Maggot looked embarrassed and walked off. Traci can't shut up (she was nominated first).

He's now just been nominated, and looks close to tears. This is cruel. They've now nominated Rula. Traci is going "I get it now", and I think she has a point. They have picked Maggot and Rula because they don't want to pick Dennis (this whole thing has stemmed from racegate, and even if they don't like Dennis, they can't nominated him for fear of looking racist) and so have picked people that won't beat Traci to the eviction.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 19 January 2006 00:16 (twenty years ago)

Neil thinks Preston looks like an evil wide-o who would stab you soon as look at you.

Preston has nominated Maggot to defend Chantelle's honour. If I were Preston's girlfriend (apart from being a woman of rotten taste), I would be so unhappy with him.

Michael: "How much was each question worth?"
George: "£20"
Michael: "Ah. (quick mental arith later) Rula said you should have got 12 right, but I said..."
Rula: "Ooh, you lying arab! .. .. .. (oh shit)"

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 19 January 2006 09:50 (twenty years ago)

I thought she called Michael the lying arab?

George talking about the race issue:

"We wouldn't put up with the things Dennis was saying if he was a white man. He talks about how many women he's had sex with and the size of his cock, but we put up with it 'cause it's Dennis." or words to that effect.

Like white men never talk about how many women they've had or how big their dicks are.

That said, Dennis has been as guilty of racial stereotyping as anyone else from what I've seen.

Didn't he once say people overrated Larry Bird (one of the greatest basketball players of all time) because he was white?

Christopher Hitchens description of GG last reads truer than ever:

“a type well known in the Labour movement. Prolier than thou, and ostentatiously radical, but a bit too fond of the cigars and limos and always looking a bit odd in a suit that was slightly too expensive. By turns aggressive and unctuous, either at your feet or at your throat; a bit of a backslapper, nothing's too good for the working class: what the English call a "wide boy."

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:02 (twenty years ago)

It was interesting, but not funny. I think secretly Pete Burns was disappointed that he didn't get more of a rise out of Traci, that she didn't show offence at his taunts, not even the racial ones. She kind of won, really. But still, she was upset after he left and it was a nasty episode.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:03 (twenty years ago)

yes. just ... bullying, really, i guess. what else do you call being really fucking horrible just to get a rise out of someone?

the guy's basically revealed himself to be a total, total prick.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:04 (twenty years ago)

more shocking was everyone else's total inactivity in the face of it. just slip away and have a good laugh about it in the next room. GG utterly disgraced (even more than he already has been) by his silence.

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:06 (twenty years ago)

I never find OTT verbose put-downs very funny, actually. Be it obscene "Satan's sperm" type things, Blackadder-on-Baldrick, or Pete Burns talking about diahorrea.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:07 (twenty years ago)

and chantelle, of all people, the only other person who was visibly upset about it. if she was more articulate maybe she would have said something.

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, they should have stuck up for her, but then I know it's the kind of situation where I might have failed too, so I can't be too critical.

Also, she was trying to not let it get to her, so wading in would kind of undermined that; implied that really she needed protection.

But yeah.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:09 (twenty years ago)

Wow, the insidious racism in this show is incredible. Middle aged white man calling a black woman a bitch and when she objects to the term, telling her "I'm just using black terminology". No! You don't get to do that! And then "I know black don't crack but your hair goes spindly".... Not to mention George's "I nominated one black person" and Preston's "I nominated two black people". Traci was bloody brilliant refusing to let Pete get a rise out of her. Only one person came out of the exchange looking like a petty-minded, superficial, racist twat.

Lazy Jane, Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:22 (twenty years ago)

hope pete gets arrested I hate him now

can't believe no-one just said "fucking hell...what are you doing?"

for some reason I can picture grimly and ailsa laughing at pete's taunts

: (

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:28 (twenty years ago)

Wasn't the "I nominated two black people" thing part of a conversation about accusations of racism in the house that were going about. Preston was saying "I did nominate two black people, but their race didn't cross my mind when I did it" kind of thing, no? That doesn't mean he's not racist, and of course racism doesn't have to be conscious blah blah, but the way you quote it out of context there it makes it look like he was saying, a propos of nothing "Ooh, I nominated them two darkies".

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:30 (twenty years ago)

gg was saying he nominated traci because she had made an awkward stuation for dennis and preston, yeah, was saying he did nominate two black people but not consciously/for a bad reason

pete's was awful, though, and I think bmore has said some dodgy things

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)

I never find OTT verbose put-downs very funny, actually. Be it obscene "Satan's sperm" type things, Blackadder-on-Baldrick, or Pete Burns talking about diahorrea.

I don't like them at all. Extra unfunny because I can imagine them being rehearsed in his head a few times beforehand.

I am missing all this race stuff, I'd really like to see it in context.

I saw GG give a speech to a mostly Muslim audience in Birmingham a few years ago, and the way he spoke and fawned made me cringe horribly. He is one of these people who aren't racist, but just seem to have no concept of the sensitivity of the issue, and makes these awful clumsy comments. There was a speech by a young Muslim woman councillor, just before his, and he stood up afterwards and announced that "Britain needs more young Muslim women like that". He obviously saw nothing remotely objectionable in it, and none of the Muslims there seemed to either, but I sat squirming.

Cathy (Cathy), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:33 (twenty years ago)

He obviously saw nothing remotely objectionable in it, and none of the Muslims there seemed to either,

Well, whether they did or didn't, they'd be unlikely to show it in that kind of context. Someone's there at a public event, being "on your side", you don't make a big song and dance about them sounding patronising in their praise.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:36 (twenty years ago)

But they were applauding uproariously! I'm sure some must've felt pretty patronised though, and hidden it, yeah.

Cathy (Cathy), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:38 (twenty years ago)

Maybe you should have stood up and said "I say, stop patronising that young Muslim woman".

for some reason I can picture grimly and ailsa laughing at pete's taunts

?

i'm not sure whether to take offence at this or not. on balance, i'm not going to.

the situation was bizarre, and i think the exchange i quoted above is "funny" insofar as it's utterly ridiculous (traci trying so hard to be sweet and defuse it; pete steamrollering ahead). but that's hardly the same as saying: "ho ho, good ol' pete, what a card." if you read what i wrote upthread about "bullying" and "being a prick", i think that's obvious.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:59 (twenty years ago)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 19 January 2006 23:09 (twenty years ago)

but it's not just (!) racist it's misanthropic too.

yes: misanthropic is right. although maybe more misogynistic. when he was in the garden with GG, pete was spoiling for a fight with rula: he seems to enjoy upsetting women. (i was going to say "humiliating", but ... he's not actually humiliating them, even if that's what he's setting out to do, because what he's saying is pretty much nonsensical.)

what he says also covers all the bases of racism, sexism, general prick-ism ... but it seems motivated by some horrific inner spite. it seems to me to be related to his refusal to take part in any of the earlier tasks: eg talking to the flower, wearing shoes, anything at all. christ knows what goes on in his head, but he's fucked up.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 19 January 2006 23:11 (twenty years ago)

The only humour in it I can see is in a man who spends an hour a day attempting to create whatever idea of glamorous is in his head uttering the words 'my raw haemorrhoid' - but it's only funny if you divorce it from the entire sorry episode, which you can't really do.

Is it because they're misanthropic/misogynistic/what the fuck ever pricks then? To drop "i can picture x and y laughing at this :-(" in the middle of a conversation about how much of a hateful cunt someone is seem to be attributing something unsavoury to them despite their (at the time) silence on the matter.

The "not saying enough" thing was referring to the way this thread has damned the others in the house as complicit because of their silence/awkwardness/absence

If I read a whole load of shite into that then I'm sorry, and I've really no idea why I'm speaking for anyone else anyway.

I think you were at least half right!

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 19 January 2006 23:23 (twenty years ago)

that was a well funny insult

no: it's basically the absolute absurdity of it. i just sat there going, fucking hell, what is this ABOUT? because to begin with - like with so many pub fights etc - you assume he's joking, and then you realise, hang on, he's kinda serious here. and the whole thing becomes gawpingly fascinating in a road-crash kinda way.

all of which means that, by the standards of big brother - which, let's face it, are pretty debasing - that was a classic episode. i'm not entirely sure whether watching this sort of stuff is healthy or not, but we're all doing it, so we're all as bad as each other. i tuned in specifically to see the preston/george/diary room farrago, which was horrific, but rather eclipsed by pete's nonsense.

re: ailsa/jodie ... i'm not trying to fight ailsa's battles for her, but i think she argued her case clearly enough last week and i understood where she was coming from.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 19 January 2006 23:23 (twenty years ago)

yep, it wasn't fair to predict or assume people's reactions

i laughed when Pete said the haemmorhoid thing because it reminded me of the more outrageous things my (female) friend says.

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 19 January 2006 23:27 (twenty years ago)

I get the feeling that surviving a second nomination has given Peter the idea that the public love him for being his bitchy self, and now he's going to give them even more of it.

Bob Six (bobbysix), Thursday, 19 January 2006 23:41 (twenty years ago)

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 19 January 2006 23:42 (twenty years ago)

maggot's confrontation of gg was rubbish and, after getting angry/intense w/ an unrepentant gg, it ended w/ maggy saying "well...I still think you're a good guy...and I respect you...for sticking to your guns"

wimp!

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 19 January 2006 23:44 (twenty years ago)

Which would be worse for Barrymore's mental health: winning or being evicted? Either will really mess with his fragile mind.

It was a really bad idea for him to take part.

Bob Six (bobbysix), Thursday, 19 January 2006 23:45 (twenty years ago)

It has made me think that I am in fact, boring, and would be shown to be such if I was in the house. On the other hand, perhaps I am just a self-deluded prick.

I take BB to heart a bit much, I think.

By voting, I mean nominating.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 20 January 2006 00:15 (twenty years ago)

There hasn't really been and "everyone votes for two people" nominations round since the first one. GG likes Barrymore and wouldn't vote for him and Preston, though he may have wanted to, wouldn't vote for him in the presence of GG, I think.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 20 January 2006 00:22 (twenty years ago)

bmore going off at dennis for suggesting I-can't-remember-what (oh, yeah, that he could guess the production "script") and repeating "TV shit?" and "basketball shit" and just "shit" because dennis said he didn't do "TV shit" (=his career was not in television). dennis was fronting but bmore missed the point completely. he's so nuts

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Friday, 20 January 2006 09:17 (twenty years ago)

OK I take it back. Somehow I couldn't imagine him being that quiet for that long.

Trcai was more than capable of dealing with Pete. It doesn't mean she enjoyed it, obviously, but she didn't need defending.

Preston left the room, obviously uncomfortable, but I guess in that situation there is no right reaction, just degrees of wrongness.

Chantelle looked visibly uncomfort, which was prob the most right. George sat there looking unbothered was least right.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 20 January 2006 09:20 (twenty years ago)

Trcai was more than capable of dealing with Pete. It doesn't mean she enjoyed it, obviously, but she didn't need defending.

it's not about defending her so much as saying 'stop being a racist bullying cunt.' i don't think she was 'more than capable.' no-one should get away with being a cunt like that. someone whould have told him to step off.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Friday, 20 January 2006 09:25 (twenty years ago)

True. All it took was someone to say "Pete, pack it in."

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 20 January 2006 09:57 (twenty years ago)

Actually, the situation was very similar in style to his 'attack' on Chantelle, you know "Do you know your address? Been there 12 years? ah that's why then. When were you toilet trained? Recently? "

i.e. Julian Cleary stuff without the 'panache'.

Eventually, Chantelle joined in the joke, and Pete moved on, satisfied.

A bit like that.

Maggot has wisdom, Mowbray. he was probably trying to tell you something very important!

the kit! (g-kit), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:22 (twenty years ago)

Maggot's confrontation with George was possibly the limpest bit of aggression I've ever seen. Loved that cowardly 'go in the other room and say fuck a lot and vow to punch an old man, VOW IT GODDAMNIT, then go stare at him creepily and end up patting him on the bum and saying he's a good man' routine. I really do not like Maggot. Biggest disappointment of CBB. He even sobbed a few sad tears. The only funnymen who cry are Les Dennis and Barrymore. I bet the rest of GLC are disgusted with him.

We need a poll of most embarassing CBB moments. Never in my life have I actually put my hands in front of my eyes to hide the horror of what was on TV before, but CBB has opened the floodgates. I'll start:

1) George and Rula, the cat incident.

2) George calmly explaining that they allow Dennis to mumble on about the size of his penis, purely because he is black and that is what they do. Naturally, if Dennis was white they would not allow him to do this.

3) George: "There's a fifty five year old man crying in the garden because of you." Awesome.

4) George sat outside with a few housemates, painting a picture of how he wanted Barrymore to come back to the UK and DAZZLE the audience, to knock us dead, to WOW us with wit, humour and madcap antic, and then ending with "but instead he's sat outside in the rain, crying.." All this with Barrymore sat next to him, listening, hugging his legs and sniffling the tears away.

5) When Dennis tries to make a point and his brain is racing ahead of his mouth and all that comes out is some garbled mess, and the person talking to him just makes a wild guess at what he's on about, but you can see in Dennis's eyes that they got him all wrong. (cf: Barrymore's freakish paranoid rant at him about 'tv shit').

6) Faria's hamfisted 'he really likes me, he REALLY likes me, what do you mean he already tried it on with Chantelle, Jodie and Tracie already? No, he likes ME' flirting with Dennis. I can't pin it down but every single thing Faria did or said made me wince. Least TV-friendly person ever.

7) Faria oh-so casually dropping the 'Have you ever weed in your boyfriends tea?' line into conversation. As if it was a very normal and correct query and 'oh, why is the attention on me now tee hee?'

There are tons and tons more, please add your own.

I can think of only one really great CBB moment and it involves Pete on the live feed. I now hate Pete cos he iz a meanie. But this was fantastic:
Strutting through the house one morning, like a lion who's just eaten a gazelle. I think it was after one his regular bile-shooting sessions at Rula or Chantelle. He's swooshing through the main room, no one else around and he just *ROARS* "WATCH OUT HERE I COME", lets out a cruel bellowing laugh and carries on strutting to the kitchen. Completely alone and done solely for his own pleasure. Such a magnificent display of pure malevolence, it sent a shiver down my spine.

Affectian (Affectian), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:24 (twenty years ago)

i would like it if pete's lips imploded on live tv.

Completely alone and done solely for his own pleasure

Or. the TV audience.. xpost darnit.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:29 (twenty years ago)

8) The 'Mod & Rockers' dancing, all of it, but mostly George.

9) Chantelle performing her 'hit single'.

10) Barrymore's Frank Spencer with Hitler Moustache (in fact that whole task was more cringeworthy than anything Ricky Gervais has ever contrived).

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:29 (twenty years ago)

11) Dennis saying "interprete" to an equally clueless Barrymore about everything Chantelle said.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:30 (twenty years ago)

OTM. That task had me hiding behind the sofa. I'm just grateful they spared us Faria's part of it, otherwise I'd have been hiding in the loft.

(xpost to #10!)

melton mowbray (adr), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:32 (twenty years ago)

That's a point. What on Earth did Faria *do* when asked to act out why she was famous? Where there any swedes in the kitchen? Were they eaten afterwards?

i thought maggot did ok initially, and he's probably the most intelligent housemate.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:36 (twenty years ago)

Did you like his angry rant to the other housemates beforehand? That's what irritated me most, just petty empty rage, banging bottles about and spitting the word fuck on a loop. Achieved nothing excepting unsettling the other housemates in the room and it was obvious he wouldn't act on his words.

Affectian (Affectian), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:37 (twenty years ago)

Maggot to win?

the kit! (g-kit), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:38 (twenty years ago)

xpost so he was pissed off about having been nominated publicly. So he blamed George rather than his mate Preston, who actually did it.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:44 (twenty years ago)

"Wow, the insidious racism in this show is incredible. Middle aged white man calling a black woman a bitch and when she objects to the term, telling her "I'm just using black terminology". No! You don't get to do that!"

did he actually say that? cos I was was under the impression that he'd said "I was just using language that you'd understand", meaning short, offensive words, because he found her unintelligent, rather than implying that he was using "black" words because he was talking to a black person.

re maggot beefing with gg but not w. preston -- this was because galloway failed to handle it as adultly of preston, and launched into a cuntwitted self-justifying filibuster. agreed that maggot swearing it up wasn't very edifying.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Friday, 20 January 2006 14:50 (twenty years ago)

Surely not! I don't think I heard all that, but at the time I didn't react that badly to it. I was very tired and had eaten far too much sugar, so I was really amused by the love/like argument.

maggot fixed gg (prob nothing like gg fixed saddam) w/ a creepy, unwavering stare, emphasising that gg had misjudged the intent of his capital city game and accused gg of being a backstabber and two-facedness, in a very definite terms and strongly, after, yeah, saying "fuck" a lot and saying he would stamp on his head or something

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 20 January 2006 15:04 (twenty years ago)

haha the self portraits! I forgot about those. They were horrendous. Dennis waffling about having two different sides but hey, it's all about love. Tracie doing some utter shite about being hurt as a human being but still keeping her heart going strong.

Barrymore's has to be number 17) Genuinely creepy, an insight into the mind of a brain gone bad: "This bit, this huge cancerous tumour in the middle of my face, that represents the way I feel ALL THE TIME EVEN WHEN IM IN BED IN THE SAME ROOM AS YOU PEOPLE and those two black lines are how I've grown as a person." [cue nervous clapping]

Affectian (Affectian), Friday, 20 January 2006 15:05 (twenty years ago)

If it had been found to be gorilla fur then Burns could have been prosecuted under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (Cites), which was passed in 1975.

Experts from the Natural History Museum in London were asked to analyse the coat after two officers collected it from Big Brother's base at Elstree Studios, Borehamwood.

The Colobus monkey originates from Africa

They found that it did not originate from gorilla but from black and white colobus monkeys, which are native to Africa.

The experts reported the coat was in a "relatively poor condition" and had been relined at some point.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT WE NEED TO REWRITE THE CRINGE LIST

Second that emotion

Day 17, 07:00
Saturday 21 January

How deep is their love? Well, today, we'll find out. Our celebrities' emotions are bring tested - not through therapy, not through art, not through poetry.

No, today our slebs's feelings are being tested through the expressive medium of dance.

And.. Relax..

Housemates must pair up, although because there are nine left one will have to dance alone. Each pair will be called to the Diary Room to randomly select an emotion and a style of dance. For example, Anger, Love or Sadness with barn dance or body popping.

Each Pair will then be instructed to express their emotion through the medium of dance for one minute. The Housemates will be wearing leotards during their performance.

Once the dancing has finished the observing Housemates have 30 seconds to correctly guess the emotion the dancing pair is trying to express. The more emotions they guess correctly the more booze and ciggies they will receive.

We've heard about dancing for your dinner. But a jig for cigs?

Housemates better face the music, and dance.

We could see George Galloway body popping in a leotard! We'll be begging him to do the cat thing at the end of this.

It's still Rula, well ahead on this thingy...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 20 January 2006 16:46 (twenty years ago)

I hate how Pete keeps pushing his tongue against his top lip

I quite like this, because it makes him look like one of the cast of Thunderbirds.

melton mowbray (adr), Friday, 20 January 2006 17:11 (twenty years ago)

(As if he didn't look like one of them enough already)

melton mowbray (adr), Friday, 20 January 2006 17:11 (twenty years ago)

he's repugnant

RJG (RJG), Friday, 20 January 2006 17:12 (twenty years ago)

yes, and horrible bumcheeks

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 20 January 2006 17:15 (twenty years ago)

o god, i remember his arse-cheeks were on display last night. i'd forgotten about that. cheers.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 20 January 2006 17:28 (twenty years ago)

Fuck, I just saw this on Richard and Judy (I caught it whilst flicking channels, honest) and he did say "that's black terminology, which is fundamentally your sort of language".

melton mowbray (adr), Friday, 20 January 2006 18:07 (twenty years ago)

So what did I miss last night after the noms? Quite a considerable amount as far as I can tell...

Cracks (Crackity), Friday, 20 January 2006 21:18 (twenty years ago)

this show is really depressing. i can't really understand why anyone would boo Rula. she's prefectly nice, kind and intelligent.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 20 January 2006 21:38 (twenty years ago)

I think there's a certain section of the crowd who'll just boo anyone now. It's just become the thing to do.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 20 January 2006 21:40 (twenty years ago)

It's pretty distasteful. People are stupid and cruel. Maybe I'm implicated for watching it, but I'd have given her a cheer.

Cracks (Crackity), Friday, 20 January 2006 21:49 (twenty years ago)

Sorry folks, I've been out of action for a couple of days. RJG, you are talking a load of old cock. Thank you, everyone who stuck up for me, for sticking up for me. I don't condone bullying - if you look back to what I actually said about Jodie/Pete/Michael, which I will helpfully cut'n'paste for you ...

See, when I started typing that "they are making her look stupid" comment, it had just started, and they *were* showing her up for the vacuous little girl that she is. But then they kept going and going and it got a bit uncomfortable.
Then she pulled the "but my dad's *ill*" line and I roffled a little despite myself. But yes, two grown men should have known where to draw the line, they'd made their point, such as it was, well before that.

...I wasn't entirely comfortable with the level of sustained abuse they were throwing at her. I mean, I still think she's an obnoxious excuse for a human being - totally self-obsessed and childish with no manners or social skills - but I wouldn't scream it to her face non-stop for a sustained period of time - I have explained exactly why I dislike her (and I notice no-one has bothered to defend her in any sort of way other than going "you are wrong").

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 January 2006 11:44 (twenty years ago)

The thing about celeb BB that I find depressing is the way that sincerity and realness are being confused and are used to condone the worst behaviour. The whole "I'm just being me!" "I'm just telling it like it is!" "at least I'm not being fake!" sort of attitude.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 21 January 2006 11:59 (twenty years ago)

these people in CBB are a bunch of self righteous cunts. its comical how highly they rate themselves. the endless bullying is fucking apaling as well, as well as the lengths they go to to pretend its anything but that, as if theyre doing it for the greater good of everyone. i feel sorry for traci, shes not superficial i dont think, shes actually quite nice, if a little thick at times. but that hasnt hurt chantelle has it?

and the reason they all walked out when pete was mouthing off to traci was cos they are all white. im dissapointed that dennis (ive missed quite a lot this week so i might not have seen his reaction) hasnt laid into pete or anyone else for their racism more. idiot.

okok, Saturday, 21 January 2006 14:06 (twenty years ago)

ok, saying the white BB contestants dont want to discuss race because they are white is typecasting but it certainly seems that way. or they only want to discuss it if no one challenges their point of view. they dont quite get what racism or being 'racist' is about esp that cunt george. fuck pete as well. the tosser. and fuck preston for being so lame. i cant believe no one stuck up for traci, shes obviously the new punching bag in the house. CBB seems to prove celebs are worse bullies with a nasty gang mentality than normal contestants.

okok, Saturday, 21 January 2006 14:47 (twenty years ago)

Basically, it'll be the power of the vote that decides this.

i.e. everyone nominating Pete for 'past crimes'

mark grout (mark grout), Saturday, 21 January 2006 14:50 (twenty years ago)

rula's exit interview was revealing. she whinged about pete being "given an easy ride" and "let off" in the house ... but when davina challenged her, she came out with some guff about how "when he went off on one, it really affected the mood of the house".

what, and having him strutting about in there like some kind of walking cancer all the time doesn't affect the mood of the house?

i just don't understand why nobody has so far said: "look, pete, you're acting like a cunt." why are they so afraid of him? as bullies go, he's fucking pathetic ... i mean, HOW CAN ANYBODY BE INTIMIDATED BY SOMEONE WHO LOOKS LIKE THAT?!

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 21 January 2006 16:42 (twenty years ago)

CBB seems to prove celebs are worse bullies with a nasty gang mentality than normal contestants.

No, all that is being proved is that some of this particular bunch of celebrities are worse bullies than some other people who have been on Big Brother. You're being celebist!

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 January 2006 16:43 (twenty years ago)

what's so truly depressing about CBB this year, i think, is that the majority of these people are old enough to know better. other than preston, chantelle, the departed jodie and probably maggot, they're a lot older than me ... yet they're acting like they've got the brains of nine-year-olds.

people = shit, eh?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 21 January 2006 16:47 (twenty years ago)

maggot is only 24? christ, being in the GLC puts years on you.

he is NEVER 24.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 21 January 2006 16:48 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, why the fuck doesn't someone do something about Pete? Even something minor like saying 'Traci, come out here with me for a second' in the middle of Pete's tirade, or just 'Pete, calm it down a bit'. It's clear they're all terrified by him but it's another level of cowardice to not intervene when he rips into the most vulnerable housemates. The first person to really lay into him will win this series by a country mile (cf: Craig, BBs1). And it's about the only chance dullards like Maggot have of doing so.

Yeah how old is Maggot? I've read that he's either 24, 34 or 43 and each one of those seems believable.

I'm starting to feel really sorry for Barmymore after reading about his OCD and how he potters about the house at night when everyone's asleep. I don't like it when he goes off on his scary rants, but he's obviously suffering and has done for some time before entering the house. I half want George's ultra-condecending '..I wanted Michael to come in here and WOW the British public..' sermon to come true but there's no chance of that now.

I know this is supertabloidy of me but does anyone have any photos of Preston's g/f? Or his ex? I bet 20p they'll both be in the NoTW tomorrow.

(PS. Grimly, those DVDs were posted out yesterday so keep an eye out for them, and I'll mail you soon).

Affectian (Affectian), Saturday, 21 January 2006 17:12 (twenty years ago)

Preston's girlfriend was in the Mirror the other day.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 January 2006 17:17 (twenty years ago)

and?

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Saturday, 21 January 2006 18:30 (twenty years ago)

And nothing. Just suggesting where Affectian could get his tabloid fix (maybe it wasn't the Mirror, it mught have been the Star, and it might have been Thursday). I didn't read it, I saw it on a news stand. Sorry.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 January 2006 18:38 (twenty years ago)

hey-ho

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Saturday, 21 January 2006 18:40 (twenty years ago)

in other news, Jason from BB, er, 5? is currently doing Commando VIP. yesterday he was on the receiving end of white noise and stress positions and repeated 'Tragedy'* and made it out alive.

(*the one out of steps that isn't H is also participating, hence tragedy)

am i sad in wanting the housemates to be more like les dennis, anne diamond or melinda messinger? just sat there, not doing much. up all night knitting, lazing on the sofa on a sunday afternoon as i was lazing on the sofa myself.

koogs (koogs), Saturday, 21 January 2006 20:31 (twenty years ago)

Pete's pant things are annoying me. It's gruesome, but it draws your eyes in and then you find yourself thinking "oh my God, I'm looking at Pete Burns' knob".

He's an utterly vile creature, isn't he?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 January 2006 21:26 (twenty years ago)

What? Missy Elliott or Puff Daddy could wear a gorilla coat because arresting them for it would be racism? What?!?!

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 January 2006 21:27 (twenty years ago)

wrt the coat, but taking a step back from pete's irredemable dickishness ... is it just me that thinks, look, it's a fucking VINTAGE coat, it's not the same as wearing a brand-new fur?

i just think that if viewers are going to call channel 4 to complain about any aspect of pete burns, his second-hand (or third-hand, or fourth-hand, or whateverth-hand) monkey-fur coat is not the biggest problem.

[waits for tirade of abuse]

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 21 January 2006 21:40 (twenty years ago)

No abuse from me, mate (I should just stop posting to this thread, I could save a lot of time by just posting "Grimly OTM" a lot)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 January 2006 21:48 (twenty years ago)

OMG how come I never knew that Traci Bingham went to Harvard?????

Dan (Boggling) Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 21 January 2006 21:52 (twenty years ago)

Isn't Commando VIP one of those shows with a complete "WTF?" list of past it celebrities? Alongside Jason BB5 and Lee Latchford-Evans what was in steps, there's, like, Steve Collins and Ryan Dunn from Jackass?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 21 January 2006 22:02 (twenty years ago)

Haha, that sounds like the line-up from Celebrity Fear Factor last year. I wuv reality telly.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 January 2006 22:04 (twenty years ago)

Also, how come none of the housemates called Pete out on walking around barefoot, having tried his best to arse up the science task by claiming he had to wear heels at all times?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 21 January 2006 22:10 (twenty years ago)

grimly, i've not heard that the coat was second hand (or third or fourth hand). but anyway being racist or misogynist or misanthropic or whatever is not actually illegal. fortunately owning a gorilla coat is. YAY.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 21 January 2006 22:34 (twenty years ago)

it's not the same but still

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 21 January 2006 22:41 (twenty years ago)

fortunately owning a gorilla coat is. YAY.

which brings me neatly to my next point. if possession of the coat is illegal - and i'm not sure whether it is or not, especially if the coat's arrival in the country, eg 50 years ago, predates whatever law prohibits import - then ...

... WHAT THE FUCK IS THE MP FOR BETHNAL AND BOW DOING TRYING TO SUGGEST "SOME KIND OF FINANCIAL RECOMPENSE" (or whatever he said; you know what i mean) INSTEAD OF SAYING, WOAH, PETE, GET OUT THERE AND FACE THE MUSIC?

i'm no lawyer, but ... justice is meant to follow a course, isn't it?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 21 January 2006 22:47 (twenty years ago)

I really like that Dennis Rodman is wearing a Jimmy Savile tshirt. It's little odd things like that that make Big Brother such fun.

Chantelle is currently asking the fridge where the tomatoes are.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 January 2006 00:51 (twenty years ago)

Traci: "Pete has such strength, he could..."
Maggot: "Kill a man?"

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 January 2006 00:57 (twenty years ago)

in a dan quayle stylee?

crosspost

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 22 January 2006 00:59 (twenty years ago)

Traci really shouldn't drink, she just gibbers such rubbish. She is currently asking Maggot if he's ever been asked to be the voice of Big Brother.

Confused Maggot: "er, no, but they asked me to be *on* Celebrity Big Brother"
Traci: "Really?"

She's also decided she wants to have a Big Brother voice in her house.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 January 2006 01:03 (twenty years ago)

Dennis gave Pete an eyeful while dressed in lycra for this evening's dancing task. "Dennis I can see your bellend," Pete exclaimed. "It looks like a shitake mushroom!" Pete also had praise for Preston's "tight arse".

melton mowbray (adr), Sunday, 22 January 2006 10:35 (twenty years ago)

AHAHAHAHAHA ... fucking amusing piss-taking big-brother bastards! polling booths! saluting his courage and indefatigability! wonderful.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:10 (twenty years ago)

It was even sweeter for Preston not being able to read the word indefatigablblibiblttytytly, (or however you say it).

Zoe Espera (Espera), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:11 (twenty years ago)

George always sits in front of that cactus, making it look like he's wearing a spiky hat.

Zoe Espera (Espera), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:13 (twenty years ago)

gg so stupid

preston stupid, too, though, for not being able to argue his way out of (and rather apologising/trying to justify his way out of) an accusaton of maliciousness when gg's the one who keeps talking behind backs and breaking the most basic bb rule

don't think any of the other housemates got the courage/strength/indefatigability gag, either

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:20 (twenty years ago)

zoe otm re: gg's cactus

it's great how he gets it to crown his head perfectly w/ spikes from his thinning hair

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:26 (twenty years ago)

god he's so vile.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:27 (twenty years ago)

Haha! There he goes again with his cactus head!

Zoe Espera (Espera), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:30 (twenty years ago)

i've never noticed that before. i laughed so hard i nearly dropped the laptop.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:33 (twenty years ago)

surprises:

traci in nominating chantelle for being pal's w/ preston instead of pete for being a big dickhead to her especially

and preston in taking bmore's side over dennis in the petty cigarettes-on-the-table argument from the other night

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:33 (twenty years ago)

George and Pete would make a great couple.

Bob Six (bobbysix), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:34 (twenty years ago)

Traci: scared of other women? or praps I'm just reading into things.

Preston has said his "cheating politician who'd have thunk it" line three times now. I hope he sits on George's hat.

Maggot makes the mostest sense of them all, nine times out of ten.

Zoe Espera (Espera), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:38 (twenty years ago)

won't like maggot

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:39 (twenty years ago)

whats wrong with pete? i think hes alright

dennis is the best though

terry lennox. (gareth), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:41 (twenty years ago)

whats wrong with pete? i think hes alright

clearly the words of someone who hasn't actually been watching the show.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:42 (twenty years ago)

what's right with pete?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:47 (twenty years ago)

Pete is good at making icy situations light-hearted.

Er, Dennis is a good dancer.

Zoe Espera (Espera), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:50 (twenty years ago)

he is!

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:52 (twenty years ago)

His arms did such good lines!

Zoe Espera (Espera), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:52 (twenty years ago)

genuine LOL @ GG dancing.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:53 (twenty years ago)

TEE is hardly the most robotic of kraftwerk's songs, is it?

is it just me, or is the whole focus of this programme now to make galloway look like a dobber? if so: good.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:53 (twenty years ago)

pete dresses optimistically

he doesnt seem that bad to me

only dennis is actually likable

terry lennox. (gareth), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:56 (twenty years ago)

you must have missed him tearing traci a new arsehole (including calling her a black whore) for the awful crime of being nice and friendly to the other housemates.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 22 January 2006 21:59 (twenty years ago)

presumably it will be george being voted off? to the joy of the citizens of E2 perhaps.

terry lennox. (gareth), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:00 (twenty years ago)

George & Pete dancing = Best TV moment of the year right there.

Affectian (Affectian), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:03 (twenty years ago)

God, I missed so much of the highlights tonight (was watching West Wing on More 4+1 so only saw the bits that coincided with the ad breaks). But I did notice the cactus-as-spiky-halo thing!

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:06 (twenty years ago)

I like how the younger housemates treat Barrymore like an elderly relative with alzheimers. Doing their best to keep him involved and letting him do the cooking, Maggot telling him to keep the cigs and Preston gently mocking him about having all the chairs lined up straight. I guess they all grew up with him on TV with Strike It Lucky etc, so they have an inbuilt fondness for the guy. I know I do.

Affectian (Affectian), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:07 (twenty years ago)

presumably it will be george being voted off? to the joy of the citizens of E2 perhaps.

The island of Britain will jump about three feet to the left, I think.

(Geographically not politically, obv.)

Venga (Venga), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:13 (twenty years ago)

two go this time, btw

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:19 (twenty years ago)

Is that two of the three nominees, or is there a wacky twist?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 January 2006 22:35 (twenty years ago)

two of the three, I think

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 22 January 2006 23:20 (twenty years ago)

Well, there were three up by dint of a tie for second place, so I'm betting on Wacky Twist.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 January 2006 09:16 (twenty years ago)

By the way, harping back a bit:

Georges 'suggestion' of a financial recompense to be offered by the interested parties, to be agreed after he leaves the room...

That whole sentence came far too readily to his lips. Has he said that before? In more exalted company?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 January 2006 09:18 (twenty years ago)

harping on, harking back

RJG (RJG), Monday, 23 January 2006 09:54 (twenty years ago)

Righto, let's hack on!

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:02 (twenty years ago)

So, nobody can tell me if Pete is an Aphex Twin fan or not?

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:13 (twenty years ago)

I can tell you he isn't

RJG (RJG), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:17 (twenty years ago)

That puts my mind at rest.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:19 (twenty years ago)

i figured that went without saying, since Pete doesn't like ANYTHING.

the kit! (g-kit), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:20 (twenty years ago)

He likes being a cunt.

Watching him eat is obscene. I keep expecting him to puncture his lips with the fork and start leaking again.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:22 (twenty years ago)

that would be so ewww but also so yay.

the kit! (g-kit), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:24 (twenty years ago)

that's pete's boyf on that picture. but, judging by bblb, it's an old photo.

koogs (koogs), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:31 (twenty years ago)

Cool! Why does he wear it for evictions? Is it some kind of good luck charm?

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:31 (twenty years ago)

He wears it often.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:34 (twenty years ago)

I’m amazed that not one of them has had the balls to tell Pete to shut up. I’d personally like to see all the housemates hold him down while Traci kicks his lips off.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:40 (twenty years ago)

The New "Poll" sampler...

http://vote.sparklit.com/poll.spark/960583

George is the runaway winner, but it seems Chantelle may be following him, assuming that the vote is for two out, and not Wacky Twist.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:52 (twenty years ago)

I really don't dislike Pete at all. Much of what he says is actually spot-on, and I find his sarkiness and acerbic comments rather charming.

I'm surprised by how many of the housemates seem to be intimidated by him. I'm sure if someone would give as good as they get, Pete would be up for some sparkling banter.

C J (C J), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:54 (twenty years ago)

it'll be Wacky Twist, so they can engineer the 2nd evictee to be whoever they want at the time.

the kit! (g-kit), Monday, 23 January 2006 10:54 (twenty years ago)

are the odds on Maggot to win any good? he SHOULD be able to win, but i doubt he will.

the kit! (g-kit), Monday, 23 January 2006 11:02 (twenty years ago)

Chantelle 10/11
Sam Preston 2/1
Pete Burns 9/1
Maggot 12/1
Michael Barrymore 14/1
Traci Bingham 40/1
Dennis Rodman 16/1
any other 100/1

George Galloway 100/1

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 January 2006 11:07 (twenty years ago)

Somebody should give Pete a thick lip.

Oh, hold on...

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Monday, 23 January 2006 11:27 (twenty years ago)

Banking task:

Chantelle and Preston are the 'directors', who have their own private 'club' where they relax and have private conversations (broacast to all the others, naturally). They are told that it's their job to ensure that the HM's pass the task.

The other HMs are told the truth that they must fail the task to get the shopping budget, without the directors knowing.

Basically this means:
1) Pete is basically laying into the 'lying' directors, and being a stroppy git. This is actually a good tactic, as they will fail the task and the 'directors' will think it's just Pete being his usual helpful self.

2) During the broadcast of the director's private chatroom, Michael (and George, I believe) have been calling the other HM's away from the broadcast screens, on the basis of 'nothing we hear here is going to help anyone. Which is very astute behaviour.

It seems that Michael Barrymore is getting less insane! Ceratinly last night, had some astute observations about George, shared with Maggot.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 January 2006 11:35 (twenty years ago)

I find all of the contestants much more likeable than those on previous Big Brother series. Even George has a certain charm, if you take the point of view that he's playing a game rather than betraying political principles.

Bob Six (bobbysix), Monday, 23 January 2006 12:01 (twenty years ago)

i might put a few quid on Maggot. 12/1, i think he has a much better chance than that. and Pete is 9/1!!! whatever/

the kit! (g-kit), Monday, 23 January 2006 12:03 (twenty years ago)

Ah, but he's not actually going to win.

It's not a running race, where if you run it say 100 times, George would win one time.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 January 2006 12:06 (twenty years ago)

maggot can win this!

the kit! (g-kit), Monday, 23 January 2006 12:12 (twenty years ago)

gareth is misguided re pete.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Monday, 23 January 2006 13:26 (twenty years ago)

pete ... sparkling banter

R O F F L E

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 23 January 2006 15:31 (twenty years ago)

OK, Pete and Michael's early morning dancing to 9 to 5 cheered me up.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:04 (twenty years ago)

Why didn't peely-wally Chantelle think that borrowing Traci's foundation might not be the best idea?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:05 (twenty years ago)

Has she been crying? She has orange streaks down her cheeks.

Zoe Espera (Espera), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:10 (twenty years ago)

No, she's wearing the foundation of someone with a much darker skin tone than her.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:13 (twenty years ago)

I love big brother

RJG (RJG), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:15 (twenty years ago)

what a cunt pete is. has he got anything non malicious to say about anyone?

george is looking more and more like a desperate sad snivelling egotistical fuck. he WANTS to stay forever and looks like hed kill someone to win. saddo.

traci looks so lovely!

okok, Monday, 23 January 2006 21:34 (twenty years ago)

haha! g.galloway's face!

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:35 (twenty years ago)

That is the least convincing "I don't fancy you" claim I've ever heard. (Chantelle/Preston)

Zoe Espera (Espera), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:41 (twenty years ago)

Preston and Chantelle so aren't going to be able to keep this pretence up for more than about ten minutes, are they?

(xpost, I meant about the task, but, yeah, that too)

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:42 (twenty years ago)

Chantelle "we were talking about how Preston doesn't fancy me"
Pete (to Preston): "Good, maybe they will broadcast it on TV and you can save your relationship".

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:44 (twenty years ago)

why is pete trying to get them to blow their cover? wouldnt that mess up their entire week of tasks?

okok, Monday, 23 January 2006 21:48 (twenty years ago)

Yes, because Pete is malicious and/or hates fun. He tried to arse up the science task due to his refusal to wear heels as well.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:50 (twenty years ago)

I thk he's being quite canny! they can't just ignore the fact those two are gone for ages

plus with the coin counting task, his needling ws a good effort at a fail I think; tht ws tricky on behalf of BB

actually, I thk I would thk he was being quite canny were he not an arsehole

Galloway being all sinister and threatening to get even with people - either in the house or outside was brilliant.

I still heart Pete. Am I the only person who gets his sense of humour?

No, I find him funny sometimes, he's quite biting and often amusing with it. I just roffled when he said that Preston looked like a chimp at a chimps' tea party in his suit and bowler hat. I think he can be quite sharp and witty, and I like that, but this is being overridden by the fact that he is a grade-A tosswipe a lot of the time.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:13 (twenty years ago)

Hold on, why is Pete getting so angry about Preston and Chantelle's blatant lying? He knows that their task is to hide the truth, so he can't be angry with them for doing that surely?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:26 (twenty years ago)

Woah, it's all kicking off (if people shouting at Preston counts as "kicking off")

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:38 (twenty years ago)

Woah, Galloway getting wired into Barrymore now "you're the most selfish self-obsessed person I've ever met in my life".

Barrymore: "yes, in your opinion"

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:40 (twenty years ago)

terry lennox. (gareth), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:42 (twenty years ago)

Preston shouting "wanker wanker, get me Saddam Hussein's phone number" at George.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:43 (twenty years ago)

Thing is, everyone who has been participating in the argument has been OTM in some way.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:44 (twenty years ago)

It is blatantly obvious that Michael is unwell though. Why was he allowed to do this?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:47 (twenty years ago)

Haha, Barrymore hasn't heard one word of what Galloway said to him. Paraphrase: "blah blah, I've had a hard life, blah blah, walk a mile in my shoes before calling me a wanker, my life is so hard, me me me" etc.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:50 (twenty years ago)

But, then, some of what came before that seemed quite OTM, the stuff about how they were all awful and no-one would be caring about them and how they had been set up by Big Brother to look dreadful to the outside world and they'd all fallen for it.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:51 (twenty years ago)

Watching the run of arguments made me feel a bit sick. Really uncomfy viewing.

Ailsa OTM about each of them being otm in some way. All this just makes me like Maggot more, though. He doesn't let his tongue run ahead of his brain. Can't quite say the same about Traci. Think she's just bewildered.

xpost. Yes, it's brought the absolute worst in all of them. Makes me long for the Mark Owen days. Wonderfully boring, with far less potential to make you feel like you're six again, watching parents row or summat.

Zoe Espera (Espera), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:55 (twenty years ago)

that was really quite repulsive watching. sure, barrymore's a knob, but galloway is fucking despicable. and that cunt pete burns, perched next to him like some malevolent goblin ... jesus. what a scummy, scummy, scummy bastard.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:57 (twenty years ago)

terry lennox. (gareth), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 22:01 (twenty years ago)

I was about to comment that the whole argument has detracted from anyone going "WHAT THE HELL IS PETE BURNS WEARING!"

Maggot is the OTMest person in the world now after his diary room speech. Rather than shouting, he goes and shows the viewing public that he has an opinion and it's quite a reasoned one.

Maggot to win.

I'm a bit disturbed that I used the same "diary room speech" phrase as you there, Ailsa. (!?)

Preston called George a "big nazi".

I'm not sure I can take watching Shameless after that exhuasting hour.

i have held off watching this CBB but i got suckered in tonight. Galloway is so sunk politically unless he starts up the "hectoring useless fuck" party

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 22:17 (twenty years ago)

Wow. Horrible to watch but awesome too. Me, I was cheering Barrymore all through that. Sure, some of his points smelled iffy but he well and truly demolished evil George. It was great when Preston leapt to Barrymore's defence despite being a bit uh, wrong. Shame on Maggot for not saying a single word in that, but credit for giving Barrymore a hug in the garden.

Dennis's incoherent rage at Chantelle and Preston was genuinely worrying, him and George to GO GO GO.

Interesting how Pete backed off from sniping at Barrymore until he'd left the room. Is he actually scared of him?

It wasn't Preston who said 'What kind of men are they?', it was good old Galloway again.

It's hilarious how they all signed up for this as a bit of a laugh, bit of fun on telly and it comes to THAT.

xpost, haha "George is about as democratic as.. as.. A BIG NAAAZI!"

incredible

def think gg is the worst in there now, pete second for being v slightly less deluded about his vileness and much less deluded about his "motives" and dennis third for his stupidity and aggression and willingness to join in on an obviously ridiculous and pointless argument

I take back a lot of what I said about bmore, now, maybe. he is not good and he is totally self-obsessed (but only marginally more than pete and gg, probably) but he seemed the most reasonable of the older folks, wrt this stupid nothing argument which came about from pete harping on and on and on and on about the fact that preston and chantelle were lying. total fanny. gg and pete saying they wouldn't have eaten/drunk/smoked anything in the clubroom -- lying twatssssss. but yeah. bmore, after his lame "seconds out, round two" re-entry, talking some kind of reuniting sense w/ "we're all pathetic etc" to go into LONG talk about just what gg had accused him of -- "do what you like to me/call me whatever you like/I've been called everything/I've been bashed off every pillar and post/on and on" so boring and, yes, just what gg had made a big point of kind of totally ruined it

Also, Chantelle is participating in a "who the hell is Dennis Rodman" conversation. Er, who the hell are *you*, exactly? kind of misses the point

still don't like maggot. fine to have an opinion and speak about it in private from the rest of the house after the fact but it doesn't deserve any congratulations when he stood there and maybe shouted 1 thing which was crap when everyone else was shouting a lot of crap, too. don't know why chantelle and preston let themselves be picked on so much rather than stepping out of it w/ "can't believe you pricks are going on about this like this pricks". the old guard telling them they're kids yawn. traci nothing

chantelle should win

RJG, please explain why Also, Chantelle is participating in a "who the hell is Dennis Rodman" conversation. Er, who the hell are *you*, exactly? "kind of misses the point"?

They were on about who they were - "you're Michael Barrymore off the telly" etc, and Chantelle was on about how no-one knows who Dennis Rodman is, yet she isn't exactly in a position to criticise anyone else for not being famous.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 22:40 (twenty years ago)

Chantelle knows full well she's a nobody though, she makes no claims otherwise. In any case, her little bit of sniping pales against Dennis's furious WHERE I COME FROM YOU'D GET YOUR FACE SMASHED IN FOR THAT SHIT and calling her a bubble-headed bitch or somesuch.

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 22:49 (twenty years ago)

The best thing about the whole show was when it went to the break after that painfully intense ruckus, and showed a clip of Barrymore dressed up as a frenchman going ONIONNNNNSSSSSS ONIONNNNNNNNNNNSSSSS.

Chantelle's reaction at receiving the rollerblades was delightful.

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 22:52 (twenty years ago)

no,

chantelle was talking about the deal rodman was making about her not being famous when she has no pretensions (yet anyway) and she said (I think) she'd never heard of him or that he wasn't v famous over here or something so her "who the hell is dennis rodman?" is fine but anyway that was after it had already become a joke they were making to mock him like "who does he think he is?" or "we don't care about him" and bmore said "who are any of us?" kind of in defence of chantelle (re: rodman's dig) and chantelle said "you're michael barrymore off of the telly" because he is and because she wanted to be nice to him,

I think

mr fitzgibbons, Tuesday, 24 January 2006 23:28 (twenty years ago)

no-one else wants to talk about this, tonight

: )

the attempts to glorify maggot, here, forget (it seems) his initial statements re: being pals w/ bmore (and other stuff) about not wanting the to be associated w/ him or being seen to...whatever

funny to think of gg's loved ones (his exwife? I dunno) or his colleagues watching him. how many could think "yes he's right to be being like that and well done for taking preston to task over his lying during the task and his malicious confession to bb dropping good old gg in it and what a dickhead preston is just making everything worse and who does he think he is?"? probably 0 or 1 moron. bet even preston's girlfriend would forget that he has compromised her a bit to think "wow gg is a petty dickhead why is he making a big deal out of nothing and having a go at preston there was nothing preston should have done differently really?"

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 00:12 (twenty years ago)

that's to say, I should think gg's loved ones/colleagues will think the same way as I'm suggesting preston's girlfriend should even if they try to make themselves not out of loyalty

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 00:14 (twenty years ago)

One final thing from me: Pete showing how utterly disgusting he is, "Will Preston come to the Diary Room? Your mother's just dropped dead.." Vile.

Someone has to take him to task before the series is over. Dear BB Producers, please fix it for this to happen. Love, Affectian.

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 00:19 (twenty years ago)

he must have made preston swear on his mother's life, knowing that preston would have to or ruin the task

ironic, a little, since preston made chantelle swear on her mother's life, about her celebrity status, in the first couple of days. of course, he didn't know for sure and probably used it mostly as a way to get her to own up rather than just to be evil, as pete did

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 00:22 (twenty years ago)

I would give almost everything I own if cameras would follow GG for a week after his exit so that I could watch the bastard ridiculed in the fashion he deserves.

RJG, WRT GG's (fucking hell, it's a whole new language) family and "friends" ... there was an interview with the aforementioned agent in the sunday herald a couple of weeks back, when galloway was beginning to show himself as the knob he is (ie after 0.0001 seconds in the house), and he was basically saying a lot of stuff that translated as: "oh fuck, he's doomed."

the herald ran a piece on saturday saying: "hey, kids, if galloway plays his cards right he could yet come out on top" ... and yes, he probably could have done. but not now. now he has SPUNKED it.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 00:36 (twenty years ago)

or Pete knew that Preston did that to Chantelle, thought it was sick as fuck, and decided Preston needed to be taught a lesson (while at the same time reminding Chantelle of the fact that someone who claims to care about her did that) (and reminding Chantelle of the depths she's prepared to plunge for a sniff of fame) (the more you think about this stuff the more you realise they're all coming out smelling of shite).

I did think it was a weird one, when preston did it, though

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 00:41 (twenty years ago)

I thought Chantelle may have mentioned it at her "reveal" party when everyone went batshit and screeched for 20 minutes but I can't really remember.

Preston mentioned it in the diary room in an offhand manner like "yeah I made her swear on her mum's life so now I believe her" - as if that's an ok thing to do to someone with a live mother.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 00:45 (twenty years ago)

one of the v few funny ones on peep show addresses the silliness of its concept (after saying he wasn't going to keep the secret he'd just been given (in return for swearing etc) he says "what does that even mean? you're going to kill my mum?")

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 08:31 (twenty years ago)

I hope Chantelle doesn't win. She really needed to let fly last night, her and Preston. I was screaming at the telly last night, choking to get into that house and fight their corner.

Why didn't they lay into them? Why were they so tame? Where's the fucking backbone?

And Dennis - wtf? He was spouting quotes from Pete, George and Michael with nothing of his own to back it up. I was beginning to like that guy but he's proved himself as another useless hanger on. Do you know why George didn't nominate you last week fuckhead? It's not 'cause you're his pal.

I'm getting incoherent again. Why does this bullshit wind me up so much?

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 08:35 (twenty years ago)

who do you hope wins, then?

I was disappointed that chantelle & preston kind of let it happen and didn't either fight back or dismiss. they are the two youngest, in the house, though. gg loves to
address and dominate, pete loves to insult and dominate, dennis gets v loud and aggressive -- not easy to overcome, really

galloway is maybe the most fucked-up in there? close call.

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:15 (twenty years ago)

I nearly turned it off, it was horrible. I hope GG and Mr Rodman go, it will be interesting to see whom Pete starts hanging around then. Every time I watch it, I just sit there willing someone to tear into Pete.

Maggot has to win.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:16 (twenty years ago)

maggot has to come third

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:19 (twenty years ago)

or fourth

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:19 (twenty years ago)

OK, was that Preston who just asked "what the hell kind of men are they" in response to Pete saying that both Michael and Maggot have been reduced to tears? What a twat.
-- ailsa (ailsa_watson7...), January 24th, 2006.

no it was galloway.

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:23 (twenty years ago)

i dunno - maybe preston 'cos i still fancy him a bit. i don't care really since there isn't even any catharsis in Big Brother now: you know that GG evicted to the largest % vote for eviction of anyone is BB history (probably) will get the softly-softly interview from Davina, who saves the really nasty post eviction interview techniques for women who got their tits out.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:26 (twenty years ago)

dermot was quite hard on gg's pal, omar, on cbblb, this morning. cutting him off when he said it wasn't the real gg or it was good television and stuff and asking him if he cringed and pretty much saying that gg was a bully

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:28 (twenty years ago)

I was disappointed that chantelle & preston kind of let it happen and didn't either fight back or dismiss. they are the two youngest, in the house, though. gg loves to
address and dominate, pete loves to insult and dominate, dennis gets v loud and aggressive -- not easy to overcome, really

this is otm.

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:42 (twenty years ago)

Rodman's shouting scares me.

Galloway to die.

I'd love there to be a twist at the end, in which Chantelle isn't really a simple Essex girl but really talks posh and has a degree in astrophysics.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:51 (twenty years ago)

That would be a wacky twist, for sure.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:52 (twenty years ago)

It's tonight, isn't it?

http://vote.sparklit.com/poll.spark/960583

It seems from this that Dennis might actually stay! But seeing as this is at the lower number end, the margin of error might be enough.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 09:54 (twenty years ago)

Galloway to die

don't forget sexy lips pete!

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:08 (twenty years ago)

ha ha. bit on bblb this morning saying she'd been a soccerette on socer am. a quick google give me:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chantelle_Houghton

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:11 (twenty years ago)

haha, pete, last night, too. preston in the bedroom and, through the glass, pete & gg at the white seats:

"he's trying to read my lips, the fucker, but they're too big"

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:13 (twenty years ago)

"nicknamed Paris Travelodge by her friends"

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:15 (twenty years ago)

I sincerely hope the two evictees don't leave together tonight. I don't want ANYTHING to dilute the reaction to GG. I want the fucker to absorb the hatred. Although, his self-delusion coupled with the inevitable piss-poor McColl interview will probably mean that he'll think he's done OK.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:22 (twenty years ago)

Traci or Maggot I guess. Sure Traci is a bit dippy and Maggot is more often than not the Invisible Man, but from what I've seen neither of them actually DESERVE to get papped.

Traci daftly following up Farias race comment was rather dumb of her, and implicating Dennis more dumb still, but in all honesty I find her sweet and likeable.

Maggot and Preston should stand up for themselves more, but nobody has really had a go at Maggot personally to give him the chance to do this.

Chantelle plays with her hair too much.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:23 (twenty years ago)

Considering she's black, Traci has quite orange skin really.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:32 (twenty years ago)

maggot v v weakly confronted gg about his nominating him (w/ preston when they had to nominate and the housemates saw onscreen)

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:33 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, after saying he was going to punch his face in. So far though he's escaped everyones wrath, I don't think the rest of the housemates quite know how to take him.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:38 (twenty years ago)

maggot should stand up for himself less

and stand up for someone else once

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:45 (twenty years ago)

When does this thing finish for good?

I'm assuming the nomination stage is over...

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:50 (twenty years ago)

Maggot should just stand up.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 10:51 (twenty years ago)

Is tonight's double eviction definitely going to be 2 out of the nominated 3? Or will it be the one with most votes (GEORGE) + a BB random twist eviction?

Emma, Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:01 (twenty years ago)

x post

in maggots defence gg, denis and pete are quite domineering characters, whether or not they are wrong is difficult to overtake a conversation they are controling in that style

people who know clever things about speech theory to the thread..

secondhandnews (secondhandnews), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:18 (twenty years ago)

there are two seperate BB eviction programmes on tonight - one at 9 and one at 11. The second evictee will be in for a shock but I'm sure they'll get George, king of serenity, out first in the best time slot.

Mark C (Markco), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:25 (twenty years ago)

I imagine that the double eviction will be the two who have the nmost votes, rather than one random person from the house. Surely that would make a mockery of people spending their hard-earned kaysh to phone or text their opinions in?

C J (C J), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:27 (twenty years ago)

Perhaps after George has been booted out the other two will think they're safe, thus the surprise will just be "oh by the way Dennis, you can fuck off as well now".

I bet Dennis gets angry and shouty again if that happens.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:29 (twenty years ago)

So, it'll be an hour of Chantelle vs Dennis, and no doubt that block vote will save her.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:30 (twenty years ago)

don't know

I assume 2 of the 3

and a quick google shows that that's what this say, too, but could be assumption, as well

I dare say that Dennis will not give a shit.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:33 (twenty years ago)

where dennis is from, you'd get your face bashed in for lying in order to complete a task in the interest of the entire group on a reality TV show in another country

chantelle: "well, I'm glad I'm not from where you're from"

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:36 (twenty years ago)

Did Dennis Not?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:37 (twenty years ago)

If there's a twist, I hope it's that Christopher Hitchens does GG's post eviction interview. I might watch for the first time since the first week, then.

Adam Faithless (Adam Faithless), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 11:39 (twenty years ago)

I hope they don't do anything stupid like let George pick another house member to be evicted.

I've been pretty impressed with the way Chantelle has handled herself over the last couple of days. Now if only she'd leave her fucking hair alone.

rubbish interview that we expected

dennis next, obviously

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:04 (twenty years ago)

RJG, you are a wag :)

As if this couldn't get worse, CBBBM has Vanessa Feltz and John McCririck on to discuss. McCririck is making his point by waving his enormous pants around. Yet, I'm still watching!

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

I'll probably be enjoying that at 3am, or whatever obscene hour they show it on normal TV.

melton mowbray (adr), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:10 (twenty years ago)

You get to look forward to a telephone interview with Derek Hatton! Now *there's* a man I would love to see on CBB :)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:11 (twenty years ago)

Haha, McCririck has just described Galloway's stance on exit as similar to that of Nicolai Ceaucescu.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:14 (twenty years ago)

Why, did they shoot him in the head?!?

Gatinha (rwillmsen), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:16 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, someone phoned me as I was typing that post, and I hit submit before I finished. Presumably he meant in his standing at the door waving to his "adoring public" and his steadfast refusal to believe that they were actually booing and hating on him, the same exhibition of total denial of what's staring him in the face.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:19 (twenty years ago)

(though the idea of someone shooting him in the head did cross my mind as I was typing it)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:23 (twenty years ago)

My favourite part of the interview - Davina telling GG about MPs voting to get him out of there, GG grinning like an idiot thinking "They love me, they can't run the government without me!", Davina carrying on the sentence and ending with "...because they thought your behaviour was disgraceful and disrespectful". GG's mouth is frozen in a grin but his eyes are saying "Oh fuck".

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:26 (twenty years ago)

i had never liked Russel brand previously but i reckon he's been great on BBBM. pretty funny!

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:30 (twenty years ago)

His "whee, I can do accents and be wacky" thing grates after an extended period. He's basically a younger, better-looking, more in-touch-with-popular-culture Barrymore, come to think of it (re the accents for no reason and the "look, I can be wacky" thing)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)

i.e. bring back Dermot since I have to go to work and I don't get to see BBLB.

don't like russell brand

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:38 (twenty years ago)

Asked if he was glad he did the show, he replied: "Not after I've seen those press cuttings. I have to hear from my nearest and dearest."

On whether he had learned anything about himself: "I thought I could get on with almost anybody, Tony Blair excepted, but I certainly couldn't. I thought I could bring people together in a common cause and I failed. I thought I could live without the news and I couldn't. I also learnt some personal things that I won't talk about here."

He sounds like he'll be dead by 8am.

Gatinha (rwillmsen), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:40 (twenty years ago)

I don't like that dennis keeps talking about "london"

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:42 (twenty years ago)

No live feed on E4 just now - they've gone to a repeat of Diary Room Uncut after five minutes of garden footage and plane notices.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:44 (twenty years ago)

Oh, OK, according to the half-a-dozen threads about it on DigitalSpy, apparently they are recording the eviction now as they have to have everyone out by 11pm due to noise restrictions. I was sort of hoping they'd pulled it because something *exciting* had happened.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:49 (twenty years ago)

exciting? some chance. i had to go to cambuslang to pick up a piece of wood, so taped the first eviction show. it's just finishing now ... in time for the second one. heh. and it was dull as fuck. nobody tried to chin galloway, and the shouts of "wanker" weren't nearly loud enough. even paxman didn't give him a particularly hard time.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 22:59 (twenty years ago)

Dennis claims he was faking the "traci traci, uh, uh" middle-of-the-night stuff.

This is either the coolest or the dullest interview ever, I haven't yet decided.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 23:23 (twenty years ago)

George 65%
Dennis 23.5%
Chantelle 11.5

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 23:33 (twenty years ago)

Ugh, I said "coolest" :(

So it's a free-for-all for Friday between Michael, Maggot, Traci, Preston, Chantelle and George? How long is the show going to be with five evictions plus crowning of winner?

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 23:36 (twenty years ago)

George? I mean Pete. I am a twatmonger. And have just drunk a whole bottle of Crianza.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 23:37 (twenty years ago)

The interview shows are shit. Davina's nice and all but they need someone who'd really lay into the baddies. They should start doing a good cop bad cop thing with Paxman and Davina as the cops.

I laughed at Barrymore's USA speech when he ended with '..and maybe then we could understand what Dennis is saying!' And I laughed at Chantelle accidentally trouncing Pete in the debate.

What was the thing with her talking at Pete through the glass?

Should be interesting to see how Pete deals with it now his two fellow evildoers have gone.

Preston's going to win this isn't he? I want either Barrymore or Chantelle to win but not madly concerned. Just as long as Pete doesn't.

Affectian (Affectian), Thursday, 26 January 2006 00:04 (twenty years ago)

chantelle was so cute, in the debate, when she didn't want to be nasty and laughing through every sentence

apparently, gg's "what kind of men are they?" comment was said, turning to pete, crouching nearby, haha

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 26 January 2006 00:20 (twenty years ago)

I have to say thank you ILE for the BB coverage. And this

"Haha, McCririck has just described Galloway's stance on exit as similar to that of Nicolai Ceaucescu".

Is the funniest thing I've read on the internets for a while.

So yeah, every year I lurk on this website for BB commentary and it never lets me down.

And why SHOULD a non-celebrity win? That's what they have normal big brother for.

xpost that was Chantelle's best moment. Oh, and Pete for the "suck cocks" mime (missing off the morning repeat for some reason).

Oh, and no-one has seemingly cottoned on to George's "well, that's my last election anyway" comment. I'm sure he wasn't only meaning Big Brother there.

I'd check the odds on Barrymore today, it could happen.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 26 January 2006 08:39 (twenty years ago)

you've missed the point

gg into cbblb, this morning, to the tune of "the lovecats" by the cure and then a clip sequence to the tune of edwin starr's "war" and t jones' "what's new pussycat?"

let away w/ the same selfdelusion as before re: his defence the attacked, etc, etc

moved his goalposts, slightly, though, saying "if I half-impressed 10% of the people watching" Vs. last night's "if I half-impressed half of the people watching"

dennis just boring and not realising what the question is that's been asked again ("after the dance task and now that you're out of the house, will you be taking dancing lessons?" reply: "you ain't ever gonna get me back in the house" and something about mopping the floors). also, a v peculiar moment when dermo asked denni if he would like to come and play for the milton keynes bball team, afterall, and denni sez "I don't know...it depends if I COME". dermo: "??" denni: "...sorry ...sorry". v strange

crosspost x3

Think Dennis answered a more interesting question there. What it was,I have no idea.

I got momentarily excited when the live feed to the house after GG's eviction was blank 'due to technical difficulties' - I too was hoping that something was kicking off inside the house which they daren't show. How could they not have been aware beforehand that there were 11pm 'noise restrictions'? Seems like piss poor planning to me.

When they played the re-run of the Diary Room bits instead, Chantelle made me laugh when she was asked by Big Brother which of the housemates were arguing. She reeled off the list of all the names ... "Dennis, Traci, Pete, George, Michael -- not 'George Michael', obviously -- I mean Michael and George". She was quite cute in her ditziness.

I wonder what GG meant by "I also learnt some personal things that I won't talk about here". Has PB been giving him some make-up tips? New wanking techniques? I am consumed by curiosity.

C J (C J), Thursday, 26 January 2006 09:18 (twenty years ago)

I think they were probably aware beforehand

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 26 January 2006 09:20 (twenty years ago)

I think the possibility had occured to them. Even now, there's still most of the HM's still there, leaving on the last day.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 26 January 2006 09:31 (twenty years ago)

Betting:

Chantelle 1/4
Preston 5/1
Barrymore 8/1
Maggot 12/1
Pete 33/1
Traci 50/1

Here's the latest 'finger in the air' survey...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 26 January 2006 10:56 (twenty years ago)

I can't believe more people voted for Pete than Maggot or Barrymore.

galloway has frequently said he won't stand for re-election as an MP. this is nothing new.

of course, nobody believes a word he says anyway, so ...

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 26 January 2006 13:21 (twenty years ago)

Ah, so that's why he went in for Big Brother. Demob Happy!

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 26 January 2006 13:35 (twenty years ago)

nicked from the c4bb site without the waffle...

Preston: "I don't want to leave and face up to anything I've done in here."

Chantelle: "What? Face up to what?"

Preston: "Erm, you know, Nothing bad, Nothing good, just things, you know."

Chantelle: "Face up to what?"

Preston: "Like wearing a leotard and stuff,"

Chantelle: "Oh, right."

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 26 January 2006 14:23 (twenty years ago)

I found myself, perhaps misguidedly, sticking up for Galloway last night as the Newsnight team had a predictable dig. Other than the sight of it being quite ghastly I have no problem with the concept of Galloway in a leotard or pretending to be a cat in terms of it supposedly undermining his credibility. It hasn't really affected my opinion of him at all i.e. still a pompous wally, but at least he's only been on Celeb. Big Brother as opposed to cheating on his wife with a rentboy etc.

Celebrity Big Brother 2006 - Thread Three - We'd walk a million miles (for one of yz smiles)

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 26 January 2006 16:23 (twenty years ago)

I think gg supposedly cheated on his wife w/ a bunch of people who, admittedly, were not rentboys

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 26 January 2006 16:26 (twenty years ago)

gg pointed out on bblb this morning that people do more ridiculous things for red nose day and don't get criticised and then moaned that the charidee aspect of bb had been kept very quiet this year. both good points.

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 26 January 2006 16:40 (twenty years ago)

people don't confirm themselves as petty, self-deluded dickheads for comic relief/children in need v often, do they? in ref to the cat, etc, fair enough, but it was was the nontask/"normal" interaction stuff that was the real humiliation

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 26 January 2006 16:49 (twenty years ago)

I can't access Thread 3, it says I'm forbidden :(
