As demanded here, I think.

I like everything but green and bright red.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 3 February 2003 21:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, which one looks best on you when you look at yourself in the mirror, N?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:01 (twenty-three years ago)

NED! Take your N-perving to email, you filthy beast.

I think my wife's favorite bra is black. It makes her cleavage look outstanding.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Even bright red or green might be OK if embroidery comes into play.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:07 (twenty-three years ago)

purple

jel -- (jel), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Wait! That's another no-no. Or mauve is.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't like embellished bras.

but colours...I don't mind, really. baby blue is nice.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm no expert!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Purple bra = ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWR. (Unless of course it's being worn by Prince.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:14 (twenty-three years ago)

I think you have over ooo-ed the rowr.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Brand and style matter far more than color, so if that's a purple DKNY sitting in the bargain bin, I am snapping it up anyway.

But to answer the question: black, obv.

Jen (nstop), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha I have squandered my allotment of ooo for the day.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:18 (twenty-three years ago)

blue gingham

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Baby blue... definately.

Christopher (Christopher), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:33 (twenty-three years ago)

black

gareth (gareth), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Black, but I like white and red, and almost any colour. I'm rarely keen on bras that aren't monochrome.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:39 (twenty-three years ago)

How come there aren't more super-fashion bras where the cups are different colors (ie, one is red, the other is green)?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:40 (twenty-three years ago)

port and starboard no less

Ed (dali), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:42 (twenty-three years ago)

very good for spotting which direction someone is going at sea.

Ed (dali), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:42 (twenty-three years ago)

BEST BRA CONCEPT EVER

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:43 (twenty-three years ago)

black

rainy (rainy), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm gonna say yellow, coz it hasn't been mentioned yet, and I'm feeling sorry for it.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:45 (twenty-three years ago)

jel, you are the greatest.

rainy (rainy), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:53 (twenty-three years ago)

white

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Black or red, I can't decide.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Wow - ratio of male responses to female is quite interesting here *grin*

My favorite color - Black, satin. Followed by dark green, deep red, deep purple, royal blue, and other deep colors, in satin or that excellent new material that Victoria's Secret is using that's soft and stretchy and supportive. Almost no prints, and absoluely no lace or other itchy crap.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Black or pink.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Martin Amis once said that women think men like exotic fancy underwear, whereas in fact they actually like plain white best. I always thought this was abt the only time MA has ever been OTM - prob. cos I agreed w/ him - but am now revising my opinion in the light of this thread. So thanks, it's been v. educational.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:38 (twenty-three years ago)

black

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Contextual.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Yep I remember that Amis quote too, from London Fields, or Money was it?

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I think this is pretty.

f (felicity), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Felicity you smoking the pipe!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:52 (twenty-three years ago)

beige, because you can't see it under clothes. followed by red, my general favorite color.

Maria (Maria), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:59 (twenty-three years ago)

But that doesn't work for me because the beige is always much darker than my skin color and looks silly.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 00:04 (twenty-three years ago)

White sporty ones. (I'm boring.)

Genevieve, Tuesday, 4 February 2003 00:29 (twenty-three years ago)

dark blue bras are my thang.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 00:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Pinstripe

jamesmichaelward (jamesmichaelward), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 00:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I think it was 'london fields' cause I have read it. It's sort of true but not enough to make such a blanket statement.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 00:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Purple wins. It suggests "I have more important things to worry about than my tits, but I'd rather my boyfriend didn't".

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 00:54 (twenty-three years ago)

definitely 'London Fields', I like the part about Nicola's underthings being so whispy, that having been thrown off by the shah-like guy, they didn't fall to the ground until they were through making love!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 01:17 (twenty-three years ago)

for girls with creamy white skin like mine you can't beat black for a nice contrast.

That Girl (thatgirl), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 01:20 (twenty-three years ago)

my favourite three bras are these colours:

minna (minna), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 03:43 (twenty-three years ago)

(that peachy colour should be a bit paler and the green much paler but the grey is ok)

minna (minna), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 03:44 (twenty-three years ago)

free the ilx two, girls

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 03:49 (twenty-three years ago)

nice purple bra:

http://i.ivillage.com/redbook/you/org/articles/a9brag53.jpg

you have to be careful about the shade, eg. a harsh chemical purple is not very nice at all.

minna (minna), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 03:49 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah that purple one roXoRs

also black!

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 03:50 (twenty-three years ago)

i dunno jess you don't wanna see that 'sackful of dead mice' look

minna (minna), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 03:58 (twenty-three years ago)

oh lord

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 04:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Black is always a good choice (well... except under a white shirt) but I quite like deep shades of red too.

Penny Lane (Penny Lane), Tuesday, 4 February 2003 05:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yes, I did do that.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:02 (twenty-three years ago)

(all my bra threads are prompted by other people)

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick's two and this one make 660 posts on bras.

Graham (graham), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:05 (twenty-three years ago)

HOORAY BRAS FOR EVERYONE

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:08 (twenty-three years ago)

This one is mine too Graham. I can't remember what the 3rd one was now, but I know it was suggested by someone as a means of cheering me up.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:11 (twenty-three years ago)

What's the point?

Lara (Lara), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:12 (twenty-three years ago)

So did it cheer you up?

Graham (graham), Monday, 10 February 2003 17:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Ay-yi-yi - I cannot believe it: Somehow I missed being told, at some youthful age, that my panties and bras are supposed to match. Why wasn't I told this? Why are there not some PSAs about the topic? I cannot believe I have gone through my life being so inappropriately attired. Sheesh. I'll never leave the house again.

(Oh, and today it's a greyish "snow leopard print" (NO I did not pick it out!) bra and red and black checkered panties. *shuddering*

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 10 February 2003 21:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Someone selects your bras for you in the morning?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 10 February 2003 21:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought you did Nick.

Graham (graham), Monday, 10 February 2003 22:13 (twenty-three years ago)

matching? pfff, that's for grannies

minna (minna), Monday, 10 February 2003 22:31 (twenty-three years ago)

*laughing* Yep, N. Easier that way - actually, I just rummage through the drawer 'til I find one that feels comfy - usually don't even bother opening my eyes.

Minna, thank you. As I am not a grannie, I need not worry about the matching crap. My mind is now at rest.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 10 February 2003 22:52 (twenty-three years ago)

So why does N. keep his mornings free is not to let young ladies phone him up to ask "What goes with red and black checked panties?"

Graham (graham), Monday, 10 February 2003 23:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't keep my mornings free. When?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 10 February 2003 23:39 (twenty-three years ago)

You said you were working the lateshift and I just put correlated the evidence and it seemed like the only answer.

I will stop being cheeky now.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

But your undies/bra match your clothes at least, right?

Actually, that rarely happens for me in the winter because I tend to wear grey and black and beige all the time but most of my underwear are bright colors or pastels. How embarassing! I'm totally ready for spring though. I have such a huge supply of floral prints.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 11 February 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
Haha I hit random 4 times and have come up with three different threads on bras, started by N. WTF? Anyway LEOPARD PRINT people.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 10 March 2004 08:14 (twenty-one years ago)

How come there aren't more super-fashion bras where the cups are different colors (ie, one is red, the other is green)?

Courtesy of those crazy French people at La Redoute:
http://image.redoute.com/images/REDOUTEUK/AH01/G/SA507B11G.JPG

nb. I would *never* wear this. Today I am wearing a pale green bra, see-through and non-matching plain black knickers. I do own the matching knickers, but was in too much of a rush to find them this morning. I'll just have to hope I don't get run over by a bus.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

that looks daft. my favourite bra colour is still dark blue. i could be swayed by dark purple and dark green too.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

it does look daft. she should take it off.

i like white.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, i am wearing pale green knickers and a black bra (couldn't be arsed looking for matching stuff - that's what married life does for you!).

I am madchen's underwear twin.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not wearing any underwear at all! But I am wearing clothes.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

My flatmate has this checkered, red and white back-to-the-fifties bra which looks simply great, especially with a matching pair of panties.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i find panties a funny word.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I find 'panties' a horrible word!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i used to hate the word "panties" too, but when rainy says it its funny.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

its seriously a CREEPY word though. i mean it just screams infantilization.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Exactly!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

yes. its funny weird not funny haha.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Di is right, it's a creepy word uttered by dirty old men in raincoats. Oh & rainy!! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

nonono its common parlance. THATS whats weird.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I was just trying to find a pic of my bra & someone walked in to see a webpage full of ladeez in bras!! Oops!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i prefer see through bras!!!

gaol clichy (clichy), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Mind you, being a foreigner I'm not familiar with all the intricacies of the English language. I thought "panties" was a perfectly ordinary word.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

It is. FOR P0RN.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 11 March 2004 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that two-tone bra is lovely.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 11 March 2004 00:33 (twenty-one years ago)

six months pass...
The bra can be in several colors.
Never in red!!!!
But the more interesting are black and white.
Any way there are some colors I enjoy like the fucsia ( a kind of blue)

Joshwa, Thursday, 7 October 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

What a nice poem!

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 7 October 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

post-haiku.

My Dinner With Little Lord Travolta (nordicskilla), Thursday, 7 October 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Braku?

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 7 October 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Since when is fuchsia a kind of blue?!

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 7 October 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Shhhh. Nod and smile.

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Thursday, 7 October 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuchsia isn't blue, but fucsia is.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 7 October 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Purple!

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Thursday, 7 October 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Spin Magazine was right on in the late 80s with the observation that a black bra under a white t-shirt is the epitome of hotness.

Actually it wasn't true from like 1994-2002 but it's back to being true again.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Thursday, 7 October 2004 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Red is the color of Christmas presents!

http://www.henryandjune.com/hj/assets/products/020514/4765.jpg

Gold Teeth II (kenan), Thursday, 7 October 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

That's not actually a bra, though. And it's rather gratuitous as well. Moderator, edit me.

Gold Teeth II (kenan), Thursday, 7 October 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Moderator, slap him while you're at it.

I don't see anything wrong with red bras.

Confession time - I currently don't own a black bra. *gasp!* *Well, I never!* *Oh, my!* - Ok, now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 7 October 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Moderator, slap him while you're at it.

And a cold garden hose wouldn't be out of line, either.

Gold Teeth II (kenan), Thursday, 7 October 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
I am reviving this thread because it's hilarious.
