John Constantine film a reality

After the possibility of such a project was fleetingly mentioned in the recent 'alan moore goes to the movies' thread (Which Alan Moore creation WOULD make a good movie?), there was an interview with the head of DC in this Saturday's Guardian, in which it was mentioned that John Constantine actually is going to be the subject of a film. Encouragingly, they've decided to dump the daft 'Hellblazer' title, but discouragingly it's going to star Keanu Reeves!

Do you think they'll maintain the character's hard-bitten cockneyness?

for all that Constantine is an Alan Moore creation, the comic has been going for too long under too many different creators to count as a pure Moore adaptation.

Admittedly, but the thread did mention 'Alan Moore creations' in the title. I was just quite staggered that it was being made, and moreso at the choice of star! Hard to imagine anybody less Constantine-like.

It could have been worse - they could have cast Sting. I would have thought that James Marsters was an obvious casting choice, as I'm sure US audiences believe he already does a convincing cockney accent, and he sort of looks right.

JC as cockney would be terrible, though.
