People love Gravity and Ebullition! (ex machina), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I won!

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I am waiting for the washing machine repair dude to show up to fix the washing machine. Then perhaps I will finally be able to cleanify my clothes again! Oh that will be a good day.

I, um, have spent the last few days not wearing any undawears.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

And Chris goes commando.

That's hot.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I did all my laundry last night. Washed the campfire smell out. Which was kinda sad.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Awww... that is sort of bittersweet. You smell better, of course, and I'm sure people around you are happier, but still... there's nothing like the smell of pine trees and burnt hot dogs.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Nothing at all?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Booo! mine was better!

Kingfish of Burma (Kingfish), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

But mine is gayer.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

What about the smell of horses and sea breeze?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

liver and brussel sprouts

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Nothing at all. And you got your way last time, Jeremy - no pouting.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

What about the smell of poppers and sweat?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

The smell of horses and sea breezes is markedly different from that of pine and burnt hot dogs, and Mr. Stelfox, I am placing you on probation for that last remark.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

two of my favourite foods

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

This Is The Thread Where I Gay.

For the umpteenth year in a row, I didn't go to the Pride festivities this weekend.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i have no pride

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Prove it.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Stelfox confusing pride with shame.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

An old boyfriend of mine (from the stoned ages) used to be in a band called Pride, and one of my favorite quotes about them was during a music festival in our little town where the out-of-town music reviewer man with whom I was sharing many beers heard them play and then remarked to me, 'I don't know what the fuck they have to be proud of.'

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to make a joke back when there was this really creepy guy in Regina who spent so much time crusading against the "gay agenda" that the Daily Show came out to cover him. Anyway, he staged a "Het Pride Parade" a few times and I was working Saturday nights at this bar at the time and, well, you guys are all smart.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

How dare you accuse me of such a thing?!

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not, either

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.sugarstation.com/images/complete/smartees.gif

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Aforementioned band did do a kickass cover of the Mr. Roger's Neighborhood themesong, though. They could have been slightly proud of that. The rest of their setlist sucked balls though, and NOT in a good way.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

In kind of an overly wet way?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

http://images.familyhealth.com.au/branding/dc/library/smarties.jpg

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I demand that someone send me smarties post haste.

And a bounty.

And everything flavour chips.

Now.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I need help picking a name. I'll probably just go back to being NA but it's so bland.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know if we're still making everything flavoured chips. But during the Summer, Lays puts out all these geographically-named flavours like Calgary Stamped BBQ and Quebec Cheese and Newfoundlad Lobster and Saskatchewan Dust.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Saskatchewan Dust. YES. THIS IS OUR BAND NAME.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Though it's a little too Minor-Thirdsy.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Call it what you will, give me the damned candy.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

can you get smarties in the states? and bounties?

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Aren't Bounties called MOUNDS?

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

At some import stores (which sometimes also sell pickled onion and/or worcestershire flavoured chips, and OH DEAR GOD I NEED TO FIND ANOTHER ONE), but they're hideously expensive and they ain't always gots 'em.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes Mark, essentially, but they taste slightly different.

Don't rain on my candy parade.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Yep, Dave.

Where the hell am I supposed to find a 180" conference table on the cheap??!

As for the Pride name, it's important to think of every bad take on the band name before making it official, just like naming your kid. This is one of many reasons why we don't have a name yet.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish people would check their email when i mail them...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

SARAH, WE DO! THE SASKATCHEWAN DUST!

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

my grandmother sends me Coffee Crisps and Smarties in the mail from Nova Scotia. I love Coffee Crisps.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

god you guys write too much.

today's payday and i'm busy paying bills and ordering crazy drugs. by the end of the day less than 1/4 of my check will be left.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

www.pokerroom.com

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, I have had worcestershire sauce many, many times, but I have no idea what it tastes like.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

if your a novice poker player, you may get reamed a new one in no time. some of the other games are easier and just as fun, such as blackjack and the slots.

worcestershire sauce tastes like my city.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Now I think I have to get some Smarties you fuxors. My city tastes like fabric softener.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

My city tastes like it sounds. But not in a good way.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

My city tastes like gin and stale cigarettes.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Ehh... fwiw he's fairly decent as country singers go, and does a great cover of Elvis' 'suspicious minds'

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Thursday, 22 July 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, he's somebody I've always meant to listen to, it's just, I mean, only so many hours in a day, and so much to hear, and it sure helps when it comes to your mailbox.

Huck, Thursday, 22 July 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Cute cats, pink! The second one has a funny, poofy head. Sometimes we rub Pepper's fur the wrong way around her face to give her little mutton chops like that.
Are those 2 related?

I am reading The Other Side of the Story by Marian Keyes. Anyone else read it? I'm enjoying it.

j e r e m y, I'm losing weight too! At my largest I was 182 or so at 5'11", but that was a couple of years ago. Now, I've shrunk down to 5'6" (ha, j/k).

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 22 July 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

what's the secret to yer success?

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

looks like i'll be flying into seattle around midnight on august 3rd. here goes nuthin'.

Kingfish von Bandersnatch (Kingfish), Thursday, 22 July 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Good luck, my mackarel friend.

Huck, Thursday, 22 July 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I think they are related sarah, or at least they are in the same pod at the home. they are called mr robinson & mr jackson, but we would change those names. In keeping with the ilx tradition of naming cats, 'pepper' had to be in there somehow, so we thought of elmo pepper pudge for one of them (not necessarily the cats above) & various other names.
I have read loads of marian keys but not that book, I've never heard of that one!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 07:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Today I feel like dancing for some odd reason. Right now im doing pelvic thrusts at my desk to "Lets Get It On". Or maybe its because I woke up this morning with major wood. I remember dreaming about playing poker. Poker gives me a woody.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

and you must keep the names Mr. Jackson and Mr. Robinson...those are fantastic.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Today I feel like dancing for some odd reason. Right now im doing pelvic thrusts at my desk to "Lets Get It On". Or maybe its because I woke up this morning with major wood. I remember dreaming about playing poker. Poker gives me a woody.

Oh. My. God. I was reading this when one of my 5th graders walked in and I laughed my ass off. He asked me what it was, I closed the window and said it was 'Just a joke in an email" and proceeded to tell him "This guy was doing - " before I caught myself.

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Im completely obsessed with poker. I watched Rounders last night, I think thats why I had a boner. The thought of going "all in" really gets teh juices flowing.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, aren't you still trying for a baby? Why didn't you put the wood to good use huh?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been trying for 4 months. I've been putting the wood to plenty of use. In fact too much, im worn out. And my back is acting up because of it. Right now she's got the bill so its all about poker wood. I've also bought a real set of 500 poker chips off of Ebay. Im crazy.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I think I'm still drunk. Not kidding.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, get your lady to do some work & hop on board then you don't hurt your back as much, innit?!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris, that is one natty case

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

but according to some articles we've read about conception, that position is not very condusive to mr. sperm. Its hard to swim up hill.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

As soon as you have she gotta roll off with her legs in the air, simple! :-)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

gravity boots! more seriously, are the poker chips in any way concave? if so, use 'em as ladles.

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

You could actually use them as chips to scoop your dip & then you just suck it all off. Wait a minute, am i'm talking about the sex bit?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate you all.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

this has evolved into the greatest pseudo-fetish evah! poker chips, gravity boots, conception, and a sniper-rifle case. imagine the look on some poor irish policeman's face when he accidentally breaks down chris's door.

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, i'd totally play poker with you & your new chips. (def not talking about sex now!)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

next weekend at my poker game would be great.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i've also realized that I despise the song i danced with my mother to at my wedding. Beatles "In My Life". ugh.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

def, it's much more fun when you got the chips!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

j e r e m y, I've just been walking loads since I moved to Chicago. Also, I pay attention to what I eat, which I never did before. Most of the time growing up, I was lanky, tall & boney and figured I could just eat whatever I wanted, so I did. Then I graduated from college and started my first office job and all hell broke loose. It took me quite a while before I even noticed I'd gained so much weight because I wasn't used to noticing that sort of thing before.

I know if I ever played poker, I'd totally become addicted. I used to be a Free Cell addict and that's not even for mula. Then I was a Spider Solitaire addict. It was pretty hard to ween myself. It's 3 am, you have work the next day, and you're alone with a computer playing a card game. It was pretty bad. I guess at least your poker games involve other people, so they're a bit social.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Poker!
I may have allowed myself to be talked into moving to Mtl instead of Toronto. Fucking hell. At the very least, before the conversation I had last night, I had a destination decided. But now I see that Mtl has THREE nights of major open mike nights at three different clubs (four if you count the one in French, "C'est quoi l'affaire avec la bouf sur les avions?") and rent is MUCH cheaper, and coming from a very low-rent town (in all possible senses of the term) looking through the Toronto classifieds has been alarming. But my chances of getting a half-decent dayjob in Mtl are much lower, and...I have to go visit my 90 yr-old grandfather up North this weekend. I haven't seen him in nearly 10 yrs (we've never been close), but my mom is going up and I have no excuse and I'm not really, um, familiar with most of my mom's family (which is weird, I guess, since her sister married rich, like Nazi war criminal rich, or so I suspect) and so I'm sort of dreading it. Plus, 48 hours with my mom.

Making babies! Go VB, go!

Huck, Friday, 23 July 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, you'll be fine!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

This thread doesn't seem right without Luna around, and with Sam missing too it's even less right. Luna is having a great time, by the way - in San Francisco right now.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 23 July 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm back. I busted out last night but I still have to go to intensive outpatient therapy during the day. :( And must return to school in two weeks. ;(

When I cried desparately about how I couldn't do school, it's not possible my mom said, "But you have done it. For two years now." I thought, "Oh yeah. . ." Very simple statement but is evidence of the work I've been trying to do in my head for the last week or so.

While in the crazy house I read about 5 books, grew hairy since I couldn't shave, missed listening to music terribly, colored in lots of coloring books (I've discovered the new means to calming my manic-y states which doesn't include alky-hol), discovered I truly wasn't *that* crazy or *that* bad off, and realized I might enjoy being a mental health professional. Someday. Right now I still wear the scarlet "C" and must use plastic forks in the cafeteria.

So, missed you guys. Thanks for the good thoughts and nice emails. I've got lots of blogging and lots of ILx to catch up on.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Saturday, 24 July 2004 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, also, in my post-xanax induced haze I think I said upthread that h. broke up with me.

that's not true.

we are having a rough time though b/c my illness affects us both and we're not really sure how to deal with it in the context of our relationship.

Communication is minimal btw us right now but he is talking regularly to my mother (?) who assures me that I'm still the only one in his heart and the only one who ever will be. For now, that satisfies me.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Saturday, 24 July 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi. I'm in Oceanside, which is north of San Diego. It's nice here. Hope you're all doing well (I won't be able to catch up until I'm home).

Chrisuistry, Saturday, 24 July 2004 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Sam, I've been wondering about you. Here's my thoughts ( ).

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Saturday, 24 July 2004 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Sam, it's great to see you back, and it sounds as if the experience wasn't too horrible, which is a relief. All my very best wishes.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 24 July 2004 08:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Wonderful to have you back, Sammy! Moving mini-house has kept me off the email for a while, but you know I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Anyway.....Jersey Saga, part 2:

I'm FINALLY here. Funny how even the car horns sound welcoming (That, or I'm seriously twisted in my old age.) Supposed to rain through the weekend, so no neighborhood exploring yet. Til I grab an assignment, I wanna keep what small bounty I've got. Though I've got to hit the shops for groceries. (Course, the prices in the markets tempt you to sell your soul for a quart of milk, so being thrifty will prolly be an adventure.)

Now, with so much time to kill today, the toss up will be deciding what to do with it.....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 24 July 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Had actually planned to have a NYC FAP today, but it figures I'd create the one event that would keep the folks away.

Ah, well. Their loss.....

(Pardon, feeling slightly touchy)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 24 July 2004 15:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Hope you have a good time in NYC, Nichole. Welcome back to Sam, good thoughts to Dee, and to Sarah and Nick, good luck on the gig (I don't think I mentioned that I really like those mp3s!)...

I was talking to a friend about childhood crushes yesterday, and then last night dreamed that I went to prom with my childhood crush (not possible, since I'd moved by then). I think I'm watching too many DVDs of shows taking place in high school. I don't want to be dreaming about high school, ick. But I got another Freaks and Geeks DVD in the mail today and am all delighted because I fucking love that show.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Saturday, 24 July 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I was worried when you hadn't posted anything on your blog for a while Sam. I'm glad you fucked it up :) I'll pray for you now - I'm very out of practice, but I remember it as one of those things where the thought counts for a lot. I'm not sending this as a mail, because then you might feel the slightest pressure to respond, and I don't need a response, just for you to keep hanging in there.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Saturday, 24 July 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Welcome back Sam, hoping all the best for you.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 25 July 2004 09:11 (twenty-one years ago)

As for me, I've been away for a few days, I was visiting Pori, which is a smallish town in Western Finland. They have a pretty well-known jazz festival there, and my uni mate, who's originally from Pori, was there for the week, and asked me to come there too. We bunked at her grandparents house and met her friends and drank a lot, though I didn't see any of the jazz gigs (they cost too much). The nicest thing about the trip was that I had really good time with the friend, and I had the feeling I'm finally getting to know her well; we've known for less than year, and she isn't perhaps the most open and talkative of my friends, at least not as open and talkative as I am. For a long time I had this sort of a love-hate relationship with her, we were constantly bitching at each other, which is weird 'cos I don't usually do that. But now I feel the "hate" part of our friendship is gone, and that's nice because I really dig her.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 25 July 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

hi honies, I'm home.

Hi Luna, welcome back! You might consider starting a new thread, this one's getting a bit unwieldy.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 25 July 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

This is the thread where I say Pt. : REVENGE OF THE LAMB SAAG

Hi.

Welcome home! Tell us all about the trip!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 25 July 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry to interrupt, but there's a new TITTWIS thread, this one was getting too big.
