What happened to that post where you looked up "ebert" on google images and the first thing that popped up was a picture of a stripper with bert and ernie dolls seemingly going down on her?

Jaq (Jaq), Sunday, 26 March 2006 00:41 (twenty years ago)

There was a thread on "music giganticism" that I can never find, must be de-indexed.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 26 March 2006 00:43 (twenty years ago)

Thanks Jaq, how did you do that?!? I've been using the search thing and getting nothing.

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Sunday, 26 March 2006 00:48 (twenty years ago)

Thanks Jaq, how did you do that?!? I've been using the search thing and getting nothing.

First, there was a loud annoying BEEP BEEP BEEP but the database wouldn't get out of the way, so I just rolled over it and squooshed out T. Kinkade!

Jaq (Jaq), Sunday, 26 March 2006 05:44 (twenty years ago)

I can't find the thread on ILM about dj sets defining the "sound" of 2005. nathan fake and mandy were mentioned in there. I can't think of other keywords right now. can someone help?

budo jeru, Sunday, 3 August 2025 16:29 (eight months ago)

ok so that thread has like 5 posts on it, explaining why i might have trouble thinking of a single example of "female-led bands with male vocals"

Piggy Lepton (La Lechera), Wednesday, 6 August 2025 16:23 (eight months ago)

yeah. you would think there'd be more examples, but it definitely has stumped me

budo jeru, Wednesday, 6 August 2025 16:58 (eight months ago)

The Cramps maybe?

Kim Kimberly, Wednesday, 6 August 2025 17:12 (eight months ago)

i couldn't think of any examples, so i wasn't really expecting an avalanche. women haven't been empowered enough in the music industry to be bandleaders on a wide scale, much less with male vocalists. i can think of a handful jazz/out-music bandleaders who are women but they are mostly instrumental or also the singer so no male vocalist to boast. (Mary Halvorson, Meg Baird, Nicole Mitchell, Olivia Block come to mind)

Piggy Lepton (La Lechera), Wednesday, 6 August 2025 20:22 (eight months ago)

is there a thread for smart homes?

The smart ones don't post here

Halfway there but for you, Wednesday, 6 August 2025 20:26 (eight months ago)

yes Nicole Mitchell came to mind xp, see also Carla Bley?

within the last year or so somebody, maybe imago, posted a bandcamp link to a record that was some kind of 23-song (maybe not exactly) bedroom power pop thing, lots of short songs, lofi sound, does this ring a bell to anyone?? i meant to bookmark it to return but the artist name and virtually everything else has disappeared from my brain

budo jeru, Tuesday, 16 December 2025 19:40 (three months ago)

do we have a general-purpose thread for digital detox/dumb phone/reducing screen time? if not, thinking of making one for purposes of mutual support

budo jeru, Monday, 29 December 2025 20:12 (three months ago)

There are a few "internet addiction" threads, this one touches on that sort of thing.

Kim Kimberly, Monday, 29 December 2025 20:29 (three months ago)

But a thread originating in 2025 would probably be welcome.

Kim Kimberly, Monday, 29 December 2025 20:31 (three months ago)

i think so too, i will see if anybody else expresses interest

there's some good stuff on that thread. would prefer to start a new one though because i'm not interested in debating whether smart phones are good or not, just want a thread for people who are trying to be on their devices less. a lot of ppl are in extreme denial about this so i think it's best to be cordoned off somewhat
