What happened to that post where you looked up "ebert" on google images and the first thing that popped up was a picture of a stripper with bert and ernie dolls seemingly going down on her?

First, there was a loud annoying BEEP BEEP BEEP but the database wouldn't get out of the way, so I just rolled over it and squooshed out T. Kinkade!

ok here's one.

within the last year or so, a thread was revived about some kind of iconic/important record from the early or mid-2000s that had been reissued. a london artist i think or if not UK for sure. i seem to remember looking into this artist and i remember album art in black and white, empty city vibes. i think somebody described the music as sounding somewhat forlorn. maybe the artist's real name was simon? but went by a moniker.

budo jeru, Thursday, 31 October 2024 00:54 (seven months ago)

important *electronic music* record

There was a discussion fairly recently in which someone noted that they were seeing ads for something or other on their social media soon after going to a store and browsing for said thing. This was despite not having searched for it on their phone. Can anyone remember the thread?

two months pass...

there's a thread that features discussion of John Lennon's "(Just Like) Starting Over." Somebody comments that the chords are reminiscent of the Beach Boys' "Don't Worry Baby," to which somebody else responds that it's not so much a Beach Boys rip as it is tapping into a common musical trope of '50s rock / doo wop. but then nobody seemed able to scare up more examples.

ring any bells?

budo jeru, Wednesday, 5 February 2025 19:19 (four months ago)

Hey! Someone posted an article (maybe a Substack?) about how films/TV shows never address jobs and money. There was perhaps a clever way of talking about this - "where's the income?" or something like that. Ok way more clever than that but this was late last year. It was a terrific piece about how TV/films never talk about HOW the characters have the financial wherewithal to do whatever we see them do. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 25 March 2025 05:26 (three months ago)

I think it was related to the show "Friends"?

Somewhat relevant quote from Robert Hunter:

“The best compliment I ever had on a lyric was from an old guy who'd worked at the Cumberland mine. He said, 'I wonder what the guy who wrote this song would've thought if he'd ever known something like the Grateful Dead was gonna do it.'"
