Porkpie (porkpie), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I can get you yer own if you like, there are plenty of the little fuckers round my way. I can use Felicity's patented squirrel attraction technique now as well.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Are the Cheeky Girls going to put out a song called "Cheeky Squirrel Network" in honour of that site?

edward o (edwardo), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

The gardens behind our flat are all really unkempt and overgrown and thus are home to many squirrels. Which is nice.

My wife saw an enormous fox there one day, basking in the sun, which is unusual for urban foxes isn't it? I never see them except at night.

Which begs the irrelevant (to this thread) question:

Do foxes sometimes breed with dogs (stray or otherwise)? Because this particular fox was HUGE for a fox, and had a slightly doggish face. But it was red and had a bushy fox tail.

marvin wang (marvin wang), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

no way am I eating crack-addled London Squirl, I need me some rural meat

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Commander Crazy Whiskers, which is surprisingly macho for a squirrel

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

the night before i left london two weeks ago, i saw a large fox on the path outside my friend's block. i've never seen one in north london, only far west, and it caught me completely off guard. i gave a girly shriek.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Lord Drunkenpaws.

Squirrel and dumplings is good eatin'. (He said thirty years after he last ate it.)

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw a fox one night in the big park next to my parents' house in Louisville (in the city, not out in the country). And last year ILXors spotted a deer in their backyard.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, I see deer all the time. I was biking the other day and saw one like 10 feet in the woods from me

Whiskeytown Littlecock (ex machina), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I see lots of foxes in North London.

Especially in Edmonton, pretty much every time I go there I see one when I get the bus back home.

One time we were walking to the bus stop and saw a fox and a cat facing off on the pavement so we ran up and shooed the fox away. Our good deed for the day.

marvin wang (marvin wang), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no! I can't believe my boyfriends squirrel name is Archbishop Bignuts - that's spooky.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

"Nutty McNutt"

too close for comfort

Snowy Mann (rdmanston), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I live in North London, and we've got a whole tribe of foxes living in the gardens at the back of my terrace. The other day there were three or four cubs chasing each other about, at about five in the afternoon. Adorable.

Life must be pretty cushy for an urban fox; plenty of discarded food, lots of shelter and no chance of the royal family setting their dogs on you.

Wooden (Wooden), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

awful fox sounds early this morning (3am), the worst i've ever heard i think

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

the ones by my friend's place in balham were really aggressive and would come up to nose at the patio door, rip into the rubbish, and generally disturb whatever they could. her country-dwelling, hunt-crazy boyfriend tried to get her to take a gun to ward them off.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 16:10 (twenty-one years ago)

An uncle of mine took to shooting squirrels in his backyard (this is just outside of Richmond, Virginia, where apparently you can still do things like that). And he cooked and ate some of them.

Queen wagglebottom, and chris is colonel bushkisser.

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 06:55 (twenty-one years ago)

If I was evil, I'd put half that sentence on the Out of Context Thread. But I'll resist.

Urban foxes are just brazen in this day and age - there's a load round my building that just walk around in daylight. There were a couple fighting in the garden two nights ago, pretty much right outside my window, and its a horrible noise.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Aww I love squidgers!! My name is Lady McBusy, I say!
