Well, it worked for me.

This is the Thread Where I Say Pt. 30: AY! Get your bitch-ass back in the kitchen and bake me some pie!

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

I have my tea and I just had a peanut butter cookie. It is a good midmorning and in three days time I will be off to Vegas. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

Yay bananas!

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

I have tea too.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

omg I hate flipflops.

Ned, tell me what the poker rooms are like there!

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:35 (twenty years ago)

Since we weere just talking about footwear, I think I'll need some for New York. Lotsa walking ahead, miles and miles of it, and then industry parties at night. Can one shoe do all this? For under $70? Or should I pack a bag with some nicer shoes and wear sneakers?

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:36 (twenty years ago)

I'm wearing flipflops. I love them.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

I dislike the flipflop sound, I guess it's an acquired taste.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:39 (twenty years ago)

Well I guess we've reached an impasse, Luna. A duel is the only option. Choose your weapon!

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

Ned, tell me what the poker rooms are like there!

I shall encourage donut d. to report.

Tevas are lovely things but I've not worn them in a while.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

I hate any clothing that makes noise. Except cords.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

Bah! I my card got refused at Tesco cos I'd run out of money so I had to wlak away from a £20 shopping. A shame because I'd found lotsa nice vegetables like beef tomatoes and lollo rosso lettuce.

I wonder if you eat enough of the stuff will it become roffllo lettuce?

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, dog.

I'm finally ready to admit that I want a pair of those flip flops with sparkles on them. But this confession comes after I just made a resolution yesterday to stop buying anything. :-(

I would just bring along nice shoes and wear tennis shoes in NY.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:48 (twenty years ago)

women and men should be banned from wearing flip-flops if they're not on a beach/indoors.

stelf0xxxx, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:49 (twenty years ago)

kenan, I thought we were agreed that you were going with the Uggs!

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

You vacation with the Uggs? I went to prep school with their youngest, Chas.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:53 (twenty years ago)

ug.

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

I have flip flops with sequins on them. wear them nearly every day. pbbhtt!!!

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

My weapon is top secret, Mark, but I'm willing to duel. Bring it.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

omg the contentious flipflop issue raises its head...a sure sign that summer is here.

I am SO craving a cookie.

sgs (sgs), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

Did somebody say PopSecret?

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

Oh God, you're my father!

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

"I did go from wanting to be someone now
I'm drunk and wearing flip - flops on Fifth Avenue"

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:58 (twenty years ago)

oh i guess flip flops are ok

stelf0xxx, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

where's Dee?

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

DO. YOU. SEE?????? Mind you, the one on his desk has like, 8 bears in it.

Je4nne ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

I'm drunk and wearing flip - flops on Fifth Avenue

I wonder... was he wearing his brand new fetching leather jacket *with* the flip flops? You'd have to be drunk, I guess.

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

Now I have to download that, damn you. Haven't heard it in an age. And such great lyrics.

The yellow walls are lined with portraits
And I've got my new red fetching leather jacket
All these poses such beautiful poses
Makes any boy feel like picking up roses

There's never been such grave a matter
As comparing our new brand name black sunglasses
All these poses such beautiful poses
Makes any boy feel as pretty as princes

The green autumnal parks conducting
All the city streets a wondrous chorus singing
All these poses oh how can you blame me
Life is a game and true love is a trophy

And you said
Watch my head about it
Baby you said watch my head about it
My head about it
Oh no oh no oh no
Oh no oh no no kidding

Reclined amongst these packs of reasons
For to smokes the days away into the evenings
All these poses of classical torture
Ruined my mind like a snake in the orchard
I did go from wanting to be someone now
I'm drunk and wearing flip - flops on Fifth Avenue
Once you've fallen from classical virtue
Won't have a soul for to wake up and hold you

In the green autumnal parks conducting
All the city streets a wondrous chorus
Singing all these poses now no longer boyish
Made me a man ah but who cares what that it

And you said watch my head about it
Baby you said watch my head about it
My head about it
Oh no oh no oh no
Oh no oh no well you said
Watch my head about it
Baby you said watch my head about it
My head about it
Oh no oh no oh no
Oh no oh no no kidding

Fallen from classical virtue! Good, good stuff.

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

Fucking hell. To see the bear cookies, click here.

Je4nne ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

kenan, is that your real address? I can send it to you tonight if you want.

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:33 (twenty years ago)

So...a month after buying my new computer and scanner and shit, I've finally started uploading to photobucket.
Mostly just stuff like this so: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y298/hukl/kirbyga.jpg

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:33 (twenty years ago)

women and men should be banned from wearing flip-flops if they're not on a beach/indoors.

Indoors? What's the point, then? I mean, what's the point of only wearing them indoors?

I like girls in flip-flops quite a bit.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

Especially if that's all they're wearing, except a smile as an accessory.

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:51 (twenty years ago)

And a veil.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:52 (twenty years ago)

kenan, is that your real address? I can send it to you tonight if you want.

Yeah, that's a real address, but you're TOO LATE, LEX LUTHOR. I already got the whole album off of Limewire.

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:52 (twenty years ago)

I'm not wearing a veil, but I am wearing clothes with my flipflops. It's better this way.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:57 (twenty years ago)

Whoa, the Green Arrow is totally gay!

Je4nne ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 16:57 (twenty years ago)

Everyone's gay when they're drawn by Jack Kirby.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

"this here planet"?

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

Do they live in Swiss cheese or something?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

I'm about to return The Future's call from yesterday!

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

sassafrassin' voicemail

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:17 (twenty years ago)

In case of confusion, because I know everyone here is concerned about such things, those Bizarros are not by Kirby. Hard to tell on such absurdly stylised characters, but I'd guess at John Forte pencils?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

Possibly even Curt Swan?
I'll check on it when I get home.

Also, just got off the phone with THE FUTURE. Memo to self: buy sunglasses.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:52 (twenty years ago)

I cannot wear flip flops, I have awful feet. They've been laughed at many times.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

Unless you have hammer toe (which my poor grandmother did), I wouldn't worry about it, mandee. If your feet are large, like mine, I'm sure they're just proportional.

I treat my feet right because I need to make up for all the years I was mean to them.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

I am hole punching a million documents. It makes my hand hurt. :-p

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

A MILLION!!!

Huk-L, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:01 (twenty years ago)

I don't have hammer toe, my toes are just really short and fat.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

I have HAMMER TOE OF THE GODS

slightly more subdued (kenan), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 18:12 (twenty years ago)

i just basically ate two lunches. going to the gym 4x a week might be good in some ways, but it makes me eat like a ravenous horse.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 6 June 2005 13:26 (twenty years ago)

now i'm sluggish.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 6 June 2005 13:28 (twenty years ago)

I don't know if I can get any work done today. Every time I try and figure something out my brain freezes. I had an ovarian cyst I din't know I had burst Thursday night and now I am in huge melon farming amounts of pain and on huge doses of Aleve. And there's not really anything you can do except wait for your body to absorb the cyst fluid and hope the swelling will go down. I will go arrange my flickr account for a while and maybe get some coffee.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Monday, 6 June 2005 13:32 (twenty years ago)

So The Future is now The Past, and I can look at it two ways...either it was a dismal failure doomed from the start, OR, I was lucky just to get to the second round of Canadian Idol and should be happy.

Huk-L, Monday, 6 June 2005 13:38 (twenty years ago)

aww Huk, try to look at it as a positive!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 6 June 2005 13:45 (twenty years ago)

Jocelyn, that SUCKS. I had a cyst and I lived in fear of it bursting. I don't know what's worse -- knowing or not knowing you have a little time bomb growing in there. Try to stay comfortable.

Je4nne ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Monday, 6 June 2005 13:47 (twenty years ago)

I'm trying, I'm really trying, but I can't over the fact that I was hamstrung by The Future's disorganization and I wound up getting EVEN less than they had promised. I'll be curious to see what sort of payment I get for this fiasco.

Huk-L, Monday, 6 June 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

Yikes, jocelyn!

My free trial membership at the gym ran out, and it's supposed to be up to 89 degrees every day this week!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 June 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

Blimey Jocelyn, I completely missed your post! That sounds awful, I hope things rectify themselves promptly.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 6 June 2005 13:51 (twenty years ago)

Jocelyn, I hope you feel better soon. My sister had one and, the pain aside, she told me she was wigged out just having stuff going on in her ovaries.

M. White (Miguelito), Monday, 6 June 2005 13:52 (twenty years ago)

Does something like that have longlasting effects, joce, or is it just a one-time big pain in the ovaries?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 June 2005 13:59 (twenty years ago)

I think I have a crush on the auburn-haired art intern. She's tall and freckled and pretty. She's also very straight, very young, and a bit of a space-case. Nevermind. No crush. I just like to look at her.

Je4nne ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

I sympathise, Je4nne. That's definitely a 'type' I like to look at too.

M. White (Miguelito), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:07 (twenty years ago)

I'm almost disappointed that my work *didn't* pile up while I was away. It's like time stopped. Nothing is different than it was Tuesday, nobody is pressuring me to catch up, nothing. Damnit, I need to be needed!

slightly more subdued (kenan), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

Oh god Jocelyn, you poor thing! I'm glad you're okay(ish) and so pragmatic - recover quickly, then you'll be able to get up off the floor (that really was the least saucy answer you could have given, you know :))

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:22 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, Jocelyn. Many condolences. Pain is bad, in my experience.

slightly more subdued (kenan), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

ow ow ow. that sounds like it really sucks, jocelyn. i hope that the pain and discomfort from all of that diminishes soon. and goes away altogether. because, ow.

i'm trying to limit internet time today so i don't get another massive headache like i had yesterday, i don't want that shit. and the ac is broken, it's probably better to be away from an easily-overheating laptop anyway. but, limited internet time, oh no.

yay i get to meet sarah tonight. :) i haven't actually met any ilxors in person before...

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:35 (twenty years ago)

The coworker with the project hasn't come in yet, which is nice, but also makes me nervous that I'll be expected to finish all this in one afternoon.

In other news, I get to leave in an hour to help someone pick up cheesecake for a birthday in the office. :-D

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:37 (twenty years ago)

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Jocelyn!

Six days after I asked, my two days off later this month have finally been approved. Which is kinda disappointing, but I felt like throwing a hissy fit today.

Huk-L, Monday, 6 June 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

Why are you upset your days off have been approved, Huk?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 June 2005 15:07 (twenty years ago)

should be: Which is kinda disappointing, BECAUSE I felt like throwing a hissy fit today.

sorry.

Huk-L, Monday, 6 June 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

Just scanning above and I saw Chicago commentary--Sarah, when I moved there, I chose Lincoln Square (on Leland just west of Western) kind of randomly, but it turned out to be such a terrific place to live, msotly because of the things that you mentioned. I'm glad Laurie's is still there (if that's the record shop) and the theater too. Take a walk down Lincoln sometime from the western el stop towards the park and library (that's the branch where they hav a special Chicago history research section if you're into that kind of thing) and you'll pass a small storefront that's Louis Sullivan's last commision. I think it's a stained-glass gallery now or something. There are lots of cool things in the neighborhood. (Search also Spoon Thai, and the German bars and the apothecary shop...I could go on but I'm really gettng too nostalgic now.) I think living in that neighborhood was a large part of my falling in love so quickly with the city.

In other news I got little sleep last night but the thesis chapters are handed in and now I totally need a nap but won't get one.

Jocelyn, sympathy for your cyst-scariness...hope the pain eases soon.

sgs not logged in, Monday, 6 June 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

I hurt my ass on a stupid inflatible excercise ball yesterday. I sorta kinda fell off the thing. I'm sticking to walking.

Je4nne ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Monday, 6 June 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

Thanks Tittwisers for your support. It really means a lot to me.
Now I am looking at my pics from TN to make me feel better.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Monday, 6 June 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

Lincoln Square also has the Sulzer Library!

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 6 June 2005 15:45 (twenty years ago)

We parked right by a huge library and were completely in awe of it. The local libraries in our hood are SO BAD!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 June 2005 16:07 (twenty years ago)

I have fucking had it up. to. here. with stupid people.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 6 June 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

LUNA MARRY JEANNE YR PERFECT TOGETHER KTHXBYE

(seriously, wouldn't that be the coolest thing ever?)

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 6 June 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

Sarah, the Sulzer Library is one of only two "regional libraries" in the Chicago Public Library system -- one on the North Side, one on the South Side. And yeah, they're bigger than the neighborhood branches.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 6 June 2005 16:15 (twenty years ago)

We ended up eating at C0stello's because we were in the mood for sandwhiches.

That makes me hungry.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 June 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I want to get married, but thanks.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 6 June 2005 16:21 (twenty years ago)

(I say that only because I think I was a bad wife...)

Meanwhile, I'm in a much better mood now... Talk to me, y'all.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 6 June 2005 16:57 (twenty years ago)

What she said. I guess.

Je4nne ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Monday, 6 June 2005 17:02 (twenty years ago)

Hi Luna!

BTW, Je4anne, love the Enzo photo.

M. White (Miguelito), Monday, 6 June 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

Well, I mean, we could try... but wouldn't we have to move to Vermont?

luna (luna.c), Monday, 6 June 2005 17:07 (twenty years ago)

Forget it, I'm just not gonna talk anymore.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 6 June 2005 17:08 (twenty years ago)

Or come to Canada!

Meanwhile, the job hunt continues, and I'm narrowing in a few interesting things that will make The Future crap their pants. (not really, but, LE SIGH)

Also, this is the time of day when I'd really rather not be at work. I'm sleepy.

Huk-L, Monday, 6 June 2005 19:05 (twenty years ago)

I'm drinking Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper! It doesn't live up to its name, unfortunately.

Why can't anything BE ONE THING anymore?

Huk-L, Monday, 6 June 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

I'm drinking Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper! It doesn't live up to its name, unfortunately.

I finally had this over the weekend. I opened the can and brought it to my lips in anticipation of a flavor explosion! It tastes like...

Dr. Pepper.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 6 June 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

I have noticed that all flavored Coke tastes like Coke with the slightest hint of nasty.

slightly more subdued (kenan), Monday, 6 June 2005 19:32 (twenty years ago)

Coke with Lime tastes like it's missing the rum. Pepsi with lime is a little better.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 6 June 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

i sorta like diet cherry coke & pepsi.

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 6 June 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

Does anyone remember Banana Split Bubblicious? That shit was awesome!

(time for a new thread, Lunester?)

Huk-L, Monday, 6 June 2005 19:38 (twenty years ago)
