ILE Writing Style

I have never won an ILE Award.

Or been voted someone's favourite or least favourite contributor.

Or been impersonated in the IL* Challenge.

I'm not devastated by this. Maybe I'm slightly miffed, whilst being embarrassed about my miffness. But anyway, I think I know the reason, or at least one of them - I don't have a distinctive writing style. Is this something I should be concerned about?

You win top poster of threads about school.

Graham (graham), Thursday, 3 October 2002 08:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I never get mentioned, by anyone, EVER, unless I mention myself first. Hah.

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 3 October 2002 08:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I should probably post more often. I'm working on that all the time. And invent some slang.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 3 October 2002 08:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I too think that maybe I should post more often, but then I realise that'd mean procrastinating even more than I already do, which would be severely detrimental to, well, everything.

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 3 October 2002 08:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Going to FAPs would help too I'm sure. I'd certainly organise an Oxford FAP if anyone would be interested....

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 3 October 2002 08:38 (twenty-three years ago)

that was quite impulsive - I realise that the lasck of ILXers in Oxford might make that a tad impractical. Yes, I really should make more of an effort to make it to a FAP. It'd mean I'd have to take a half-day at v. short notice tho.

There's more to it than what's been discussed previously. Maybe I play my cards too close to my chest and should open up more, I don't know.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 3 October 2002 09:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I never get mentioned or impersonated either, Mark. I think Zeus has a hand in this.

Mandee, Thursday, 3 October 2002 16:52 (twenty-three years ago)

dont worry about it mark i dont think it matters how many posts you write or what faps you attend, its more WHAT you write and im sure your offerings are as interesting as anyones elses here. im only new-ish so i dont know but hey if you like i will start mentioning you hahaha...not that my posts carry any weight, sorry. :-)
and anyway, is it ilx fame we are all after or just a place to express ourselves freely..?

donna (donna), Thursday, 3 October 2002 17:56 (twenty-three years ago)

People who show off, post *a lot* or have a unique style get mentioned. It's human nature. AND THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 3 October 2002 18:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I do the first two, but probably not the third (I can't tell). I've not won an award because that thread was dead before I found ILX, and I've not been impersonated (it would only upset me if I were, I expect). I've had one or two favourites mentions, which is wonderful, but it is hard entirely to ignore someone who talks as much as I do.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 3 October 2002 20:59 (twenty-three years ago)

It is very easy to ignore someone who talks as much UNADULTERATED SHIT as I do. :)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 3 October 2002 21:02 (twenty-three years ago)

i cannot believe i lost dream date to a fictional character.

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 3 October 2002 21:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Same here, Dang.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 3 October 2002 21:03 (twenty-three years ago)

and RUNNER UP for best flirt! i want to fuck nearly all of you!

(*nearly)

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 3 October 2002 21:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I am proud of my barely-mentioned status. It shows strength of character.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 4 October 2002 13:29 (twenty-three years ago)

It is the people not mentioned that keep the IL* train running on time. Actually that's not true as, I think, Graham does all the hard work and I don't do anything. k-Hooray!

lawrence kansas, Friday, 4 October 2002 13:43 (twenty-three years ago)

if it was a post to mention ratio, then I really don't get mentioned much.

I have an unspectactular style *sigh*

jel -- (jel), Friday, 4 October 2002 16:34 (twenty-three years ago)

jel i always know your threads and your lists of things bought!!

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 4 October 2002 16:35 (twenty-three years ago)

thanks jess!

(I always feel stupid after posting "what about me?" messages, arrghhh!)

jel -- (jel), Friday, 4 October 2002 16:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan and Nicole are hereby requested to never post self-deprecating posts again, for I don't believe them.

Jel, Jess, hell everyone = worthy. Smile. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 4 October 2002 16:44 (twenty-three years ago)

do I have a distinctive writing style? I'd be genuinely interested to find out. so far I'd guess I just come across as this guy biting other established styles from Jess and Ethan and Tim F or whoever.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 5 October 2002 18:34 (twenty-three years ago)

oh yeah beside rip torn-esque

Mitch Lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 5 October 2002 18:40 (twenty-three years ago)

yes, jel, you are plenty distinctive

Josh (Josh), Saturday, 5 October 2002 21:46 (twenty-three years ago)

i think i'm still a bit drunk. now's the perfect time for the real mitch to show himself! lady, if you have to ask why shakedown's "at night" (with bass hits like the moist underbelly of an almost fully mature danish walrus slapping against a newly polished marble floor) is pop-house hit of the year, then fuck off haha [/wigga]

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 5 October 2002 23:15 (twenty-three years ago)

ohronny! (lucylurex), Saturday, 5 October 2002 23:37 (twenty-three years ago)

oh fuck wrong thread.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 5 October 2002 23:38 (twenty-three years ago)

"biting other established styles from Jess and Ethan and Tim F or whoever."

But Mitch you excise all the bad parts! None of Jess's mania, none of Ethan's posturing and none of my rambling ==> only the best!

("At Night" is more brilliant than anything ever yes obviously)
