Pitchfork chose Rapture as album of 2003? You?

So Pitchfork chose The Raputre's "Echoes" as their album of the year. I just bought it and I think it's ok, but definetly not album of the year. My top 3 are: Four Tet "Rounds," Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Fever to Tell," and a toss-up between Prefuse 73 "One Word Extinguisher" and Broken Social Scene "You Forgot it in People." I would probably go with Prefuse. I thought the Outkast album was a bit over-rated. The Big Boi album is better than the Andre 3000 album. Andre's is a little too P-funk and cartoonish at parts for my taste although it has some great moments (I liked 'Hey Ya' until I heard it a 1000 times). Big Boi is more innovative while sticking to his hip-hop guns (no pun intended). So what was the real album of the year? What do you think of the Rapture?

As for the REAL album of the year, I bet it's this (note: please wait 12 hours for link to work).

I saw Prefuse, Four Tet, and Beans in Vancouver and I met Four Tet and Beans. Beans has big, soft, black hands. Very sexy.

May I be the first to say I disagree, and that I condemn the people who voted for this Pazz & Jop garbage.

X-post

My subjective album of 2003 was The Dears' No Cities Left. Purely on a personal resonance level.

Pazz & Jop is a poll run by Village Voice, in which music critics vote for the best album of the year.
