So I'm sitting here debating ordering this and the archives aren't turning up much on it. I've only heard the self titled which I enjoyed for the most part.

So, who's heard it, and should I click this demmed order now button?

stephen morris, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

A couple of good songs, but their worst album IMHO.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Which ones are the good ones, then?

Sonny A. (Keiko), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

a little bit of a let down for me. 'feather float' is my fave.

stirmonster, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Another vote for Feather Float -- a bit more manic & pop, less experimental.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll put in a CLASSIC vote and say the expensive import "Blue & Gold" is worth the money. As good as the Boredoms.

sexyDancer, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, didn't really like the first one. found "feather float" in the cutout bin for 2$ and love it.

JaXoN (JasonD), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Green And Gold is my favorite and sadly the only OoioO album not available in the US at a domestic price (due to its extravagant "mountain book" packaging?).

kila kila kila may not be their worst (the first album is pretty bad), but it is definitely their worst sequenced.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

it's good for nonactive listening. parts are very pretty indeed.

ryan (ryan), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

is green and gold available ANYWHERE?

ryan (ryan), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

there's a new copy at amoeba in SF for about $29.99.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

"Mountain Book" from Green and Gold = awesome

dleone (dleone), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

"mantral" by seiichi yamamoto > "mountain book" by ooioo

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

(no sean lennon for starters).

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

dont have kila yet but yes, GREEN & GOLD is magnificent, and yes the packaging is really great. $29.99 is totally worth it!

my name is limitless, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Rovo any good? I heard some track off of that E2-E4 2001 comp and I remember liking it?

LITTLE LAMB [Jon Williams] (ex machina), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

it's trance-y j-rock. the dual drummer attack is pretty amazing, but a lot of their music may not be as edgy as you probably like it... but i could be off-base.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
would i like this? which is better, kila kila kila, or feather float?

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 28 May 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Feather Float or Self Titled or Green & Gold are so much better.

Shock City Shockers 2 (remixes) rules.

Sean Lennon guests on OOIOO??!!@? omg wtf

Wait, people hate the first album? You guys are nuts. I listened to it once like 40 times in a row when I was tripping and spraypainting stuff.

huffinf paint dudes!

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 28 May 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

NO, SHOW US YOUR VOoOREDOMS SHIRT JON

deanomgwtf!!!p%3Fmsgid%3D4581997 (deangulberry), Friday, 28 May 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

It is a green shirt covered in fucked up paint and distorted stenciling of kanji "pica pica pica", parts of Ey3's face and paint globs. The paint is a mixture of black and gold spraypaint. The Ey3 stencil is from that QuickJapan cover. I'm going to do one where you can actually tell what is stenciled on it once I redo that stencil as a 3 or 4 layer thing. Maybe put some infinity symbols in instead of eyes.

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 28 May 2004 16:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you going to show it to us or what?

deanomgwtf!!!p%3Fmsgid%3D4581997 (deangulberry), Friday, 28 May 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, I friends with this girl who had a purple ooioo shirt and once we realized that I was wearing my VCN shirt at the same time as she was wearing her OOIOO shirt. But I'm sure there's only like 15 people in Rochester who would pick up on that. (She is also making me a stitched "Computer World" Kraftwerk shirt, omg wtf lol)

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 28 May 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

You can see it in the picture of me and fatty kinda!

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 28 May 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Sean Lennon guests on OOIOO??!!@? omg wtf

it's on "mountain book" which is a dubious "cover" of seiichi yamamoto's "mantral" (off his crown prince of fuzzy groove lp). it was originally tossed around for a boredoms track but never made it onto super ae or VCN before yoshimi "borrowed" it.

i saw yamamoto seiichi band do a 45 minute version of it (w/ jaki leibezeit) in osaka last year. you should check out the yamamoto version JW.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 28 May 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Bands named after one of their own songs?

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 28 May 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Are there any Yammato Seiichi records released under his name (Tzadik)?

Have you heard this:

oh fuck that's huge

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 28 May 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i like his more songy records. his discography is pretty intimidating. the one i mentioned is a good place to start for his post-boredoms era. esp. if you don't like dual drummer TRANCE-PSYCH-ROCK.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 28 May 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I listened to Rovo@tonic and I liked it.

Be sure to Loop! Loop, Loop, Loop. (ex machina), Friday, 28 May 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

oh gygax, P-Vine is sending me the second MOST record

dleone (dleone), Friday, 28 May 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

neat! i got that marisa monte record from you (not sure if you noticed). O_o

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 28 May 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah - actually, there's another record she did with some live stuff that's better than that one. I like it better when she's "more Brazilian"

dleone (dleone), Friday, 28 May 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i used to have her cover of "pale blue eyes", i have no idea where that is...

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 28 May 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

This is ok, but only if you don't expect krautrock.

This is BBQ music for noise rockers

THEA THEY HAVE TO COME TO LA PLEASE HELP OK THANKS BYE

dean? (deangulberry), Thursday, 5 August 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

(actually, it's totally obvious that there's a hole in that schedule where an atp pacific performance would fit perfectly)

dean? (deangulberry), Thursday, 5 August 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I am so going to the Knitty Factory show

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Thursday, 5 August 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

that's enough gloating

ryan (ryan), Thursday, 5 August 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

they are great live, their drummer is jaw-droppingly awesome.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 5 August 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

feather float sounds like claustrophobic 80's hawkwind bedsit squat punk raincoats depression era music despite colourful cover art. kila kila kila is freakin excellent brightly coloured multi textured nebulous and rockin at the same time like a psychedelic shaggs or summat. that's my take anyhow. all this boredoms stuff overrated anyhow

bob snoom, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

OVERRATED?!?!?!@!@!@?!@?!

The first album is great too; I really need GREEN AND GOLD

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

is Shock City Shockers vol. 2 worth $45 bucks? Does vol. 1 even exist???

my name is limitless, Thursday, 12 August 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

shock city shockers vol. 2 is pretty sweet and the packaging is completely unbelievable.

and yes, vol. 1 exists...i have both.

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

the packaging is not that crazy GEETA U DUMMY

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

both are pretty good, but for $45 you should be able to buy both from japan with shipping and handling. try hmv.co.jp.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

LA - yes. At this point they don't know if it's ATP or other...

Thea (Thea), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

GREEN AND GOLD BITCHES

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i got mine for like $25

the packaging is awesome dude -- what are you talking about?! are we smoking the same thing?

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

the "green and gold" mountain book packaging is the best OOIOO packaging by far.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

geeta, mine is just in a very nice jewl case with a normal booklet

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

JW: it didn't come with the shimmery outersleeve?

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

LA - yes. At this point they don't know if it's ATP or other...

Thea, thanks for responding. I hope it's ATP. I don't think I'll be able to handle much past ATP and Brian Wilson, that week.

dean? (deangulberry), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Shock City 1 has what I would call astounding packaging; haven't seen Vol. 2

Mark (MarkR), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

GG nope

Red Panda Sanskrit (ex machina), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I got the Shock City 2 vinyl last year, what was the Bathing Ape connection about?

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

nigo put out the ooioo lps before, but for kila kila kila he did the cd/lp.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 12 August 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I fank yoo.

Barms, Friday, 13 August 2004 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

yoshimi is the only original member left. yoshiko left the band after the release of kila kila kila to concentrate on DMBQ. :-(

gygax! (gygax!), Sunday, 15 August 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

My computer is named "Mountain Book".

LSD ARISTOCAT (ex machina), Saturday, 15 January 2005 01:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I have this now. (Thanks!) So far it just reminds me of lots of fragments of old prog./space rock/fusion/Krautrock heard long ago. It's a little too indie too. I think I should just listen to "my" music.

RS £aRue (rockist_scientist), Saturday, 22 January 2005 20:10 (twenty-one years ago)

This sounds like something they would play in aka Records and that's not a good thing.

RS £aRue (rockist_scientist), Saturday, 22 January 2005 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i really like this but i think i like Flower With No Color even better. im in the minority on both of those i think.

It was only 14 bucks new. Now I have Green & Gold! At least as good as Feather Float, better than Kila (x3) or the 1st.

sleeve (sleeve), Saturday, 1 October 2005 01:39 (twenty years ago)

And the packagaing is quite lavish - full color gatefold LP replica CD-sized sleeve, 10-page full color booklet of art, and a separate white envelope sleeve for the CD itself (very classy).
