As far as albums are concerned i wouldn't know where to start really. But I am very interested in hindustani classical music (vilayat khan, sitar in general, santoor, tabla players, sarod and vocal), perucussion in general - african, cuban, indian, anywhere! Malian music is also really great - there was a nice disc on sublime frequencies....

What do other people like? POX if possible.

Thanks!

I think this is a case where you'd be better off searching the archives more narrowly by the particular part of the world, or culture. Here are some suggestions:

Anyone here know about indian music?
RFD: Indian music
Indian Classical
Carnatic Music Recommendations?

African Percussion
(A very skimpy thread, I admit)

Mali Music

Field Recordings - S&D
Non-Westernized Ethnographic Field Recordings?

Recommend to me some excellent Afro-pop

Is anyone here listening to salsa? Other Latin music?

You want us to POX recordings of Hindustani classical music, any sort of (traditional?) percussion, and maybe Malian music in general? That smooshes a lot of stuff together.

Thanks for the links. No a POX of Ethnic Musics (those labels are just examples) and there is no limit on the style/genre or whatever.

ocora is pretty solid. they were reissuing a lot of them for awhile on CD, i dunno if they still are. i have a gagaku record on LP from ocora that should be reissued if it hasn't been already.
