S&D: Popol Vuh + krautrock etc

As I've recently been getting more into krautrock, so when I saw a list on amazon's listmania dedicated to krautrock, i clicked for suggestions of new stuff to hear. somewhere down the list, i saw a group called popol vuh that i had never heard mentioned in any conversations concerning krautrock though i have admittedly had very few. the impression that i got was that they did a lot of soundtracks for W. Herzog. Is that what I can expect? I mean I liked aguirre, the wrath of god and all but I wasn't particularly struck by the sdtk--if anything I thought it was a little cheesy.
So were popul vuh more about influence in electronic music, or should I check out some of their stuff? allmusic recommended Einsjager $ siebenjager, but i'd like to hear your opinions.

On a side note, I've been getting really into Neu's self titled cd (it's the best cd i've been exposed to this year), as well as Can's tago, ege, monster movie, Kraftwerk, Amon Duul II's Tanz der Lemminge and some other stuff. Further recommendations would be appreciated.

THANK YOU HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I like Popol Vuh. A lot of people rate their "Aguire" Sdtrk pretty highly, but my favorite is "In den Gaerten Pharaos."

As for other Krautrock you like enjoy, check out Harmonia, Cluster and Guru Guru.

My favorite Popol Vuh is "In Den Garten Pharaos", which is transcendental without being overly new age and also a bit noisy and challenging on side B (reminds me a bit of Vibracathedral Orchestra!) Highly recommended - I find their other widely acknowledged 'classic', Hosiana Mantra, a bit of a slog to be honest...

I higly recommend you check out Can's Delay 1968... I'm gonna be controversial and say that Delay and Monster Movie show that the unhinged Malcolm Mooney was far better than the too-cool-for-school Damo ever could be.

also, ASH RA TEMPEL! Especially the s/t one and "Join Inn" are wonderful.

Today I bought an original LP of the s/t Cosmic Jokers album, which is folks from Ash Ra Tempel & Wallenstein jamming out on ACID MAAAAAN. It's maybe the most expensive record I've ever bought, but I paid for it by trading in older, crappier LPs.
