Has anyone seen the band on their recent tour? I've heard they can still bring the rock.

Jim Reckling (Jim Reckling), Friday, 16 December 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if there have ever been any ILM threads about U2?

TWICE I've bought Los Angeles and TWICE it's been stolen. (Well, the first time I lent it out and then the guy never gave it back).

What I would love to get a copy of is the Los Angeles ep where Ray Manzarek introduces each track (like, 6 total) and talks a little about them. It's hilarious, and what led to an ongoing joke between me and my girlfriend about how if Ray Manzarek ever produces your album, all he can think about is how much more the songs could use organ solos (which was a recurrent theme in his introductions, and several of the songs did feature him playing organ on 'em...)

Throw the Australian and Japanese bands called X for some extra confusion

http://www.outer-court.com/tech/folder/style/x.gif is a great band, and it wouldn't surprise me to hear that http://www.outer-court.com/tech/folder/style/x.gif is still going on strong. Would Billy Zane ever rejoin?

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 16 December 2005 20:57 (twenty years ago)

Good question. And what about Eczema, is she still singing with them?

k/l (Ken L), Friday, 16 December 2005 21:00 (twenty years ago)

I believe X now consists of all the original members.

Jim Reckling (Jim Reckling), Friday, 16 December 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

Even D. C. Fontana on drums?

k/l (Ken L), Friday, 16 December 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

(Sorry, Pleasant Plains does a way better Jackie Harvey imo than I do)

Hmm. I was thinking this morning about how much I prefer X's rockabilly-inflected punk to The Cramps'. (Answer: a lot).

I'd turn this into a "Taking Sides" if my last two threads hadn't sunk so swiftly. *Off to corner, licks wounds*

Collardio Gelatinous (collardio), Friday, 16 December 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

Except that The Cramps didn't play rockabilly-inflected punk. They played punk-inflected rockabilly.

These Robust Cookies (Robust Cookies), Friday, 16 December 2005 21:37 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, that sounds right, and goes some way to explaining my preference.
