In the 'I Love Baseball' league, how many games does a person have to play at a position before he becomes eligible for use in that position?

Chipper Jones has started the last few days at 3b and I was wondering how many games he would have to play until he would be eligible there, especially since I have Eric Chavez on the DL.

Interesting - I was doing the same sort of watch w/ Michael Cuddyer (when he was playing 2B in place of Luis Rivas), but HE didn't become eligible for 2B until his 15th game.

A mod question for the distant future. Last year on the Mickey Mantle's Liver board, we all made predictions for each playoff series and the predictions were posted on the main page for all to see and track and compare. Will there be any way to work that into the ILX format?

Hi, there was some commentary by Kerry on the CWS-BOS that warranted the attention of Ally and Dan that I felt was distracting from the discourse on that thread. I banned Ally and Dan from the thread. I had a 90 minute lunch meeting and then banned Kerry from the same thread after she continued to post non-topical material.

I asked Ned and n/a to contribute and n/a said something about a handjob or something followed by a fuck you to me so I banned him from this board en totale. Ned has not been banned, but if he wants to be, the server's moving really fast today.

Kerry appears to have some bad blood with someone or something, I didn't really spend a lot of time reading her posts (hey guess what guys, it's the playoffs!) but I would wish that some of you wouldn't dwell so much on it.

I was reading the thread because Ally linked it on the Excelsior thread. I don't like baseball but I do follow it during the playoffs if the Twins or Red Sox are in it because I want the Twins to win and the Red Sox to lose. The increasingly deranged nonsense Kerry was posting was very, very funny to me at first, then became disturbing.

I suggest going back and reading what she wrote and then apologizing profusely to Ally and n/a for being an idiot.

I disagree with n/a's banning. Perhaps you and I should discuss it over email or something. Banning somebody from a thread is one thing, but a ban from an entire board is a very rare thing on ILX and I think it should remain that way.

That said, ILB is not ILE. We're happy to agree to disagree with each other without calling other posters racist or telling moderators to fuck off and I think it should remain that way.

I lumped you guys (Dan/Ally) together because neither of you were helping things (ie, the discussion of that chicago vs. boston series).

I welcome digression (but not regression!), but that thread in particular has been a bit of a bugbear. I think it's a good game so far and it's too bad we're spending more time bellyaching about irrelevant matters (myself included).

Here's my modus operandi: Talk baseball and everyone wins. There are hundreds of threads in the archives, some excellent writing and observations. I have not had to moderate much prior to this so I consider today a learning experience.

If you're not interested in talking baseball, go to ILE ffs! Start a thread about the history of Irish Republicans in Chicago and see what comes of it. But seriously, this is the playoffs!!! there's no need for rubbernecking and carrying-on and such right now.

I don't really understand what exactly went on, but can't we just stop banning people from threads and just try to cool down and have a normal discussion? The thread got out of hand for whatever reason, but it doesn't seem necessary to lock people out of threads. I appreciate gygax trying to keep things on topic, let's just all behave like grown ups.

Dan, that thread is an exception. Don't paint with ILB with broad brush strokes and imply that lurkers or irregular posters aren't welcome here and that we'd (we = ILB regulars) would prefer it if you posted on ILE instead.

Many people make the same claims about ILM, i.e. it's unfriendly, everybody is argumentative or childish, and although they have a point when it comes to certain threads there, it's not an accurate depiction of the board as a whole and is 100000000X less accurate in reference to ILB.

Gygax and polyphonic OTM, obviously: let's talk baseball, and everything will be cool. That's exactly what happens 99.5% of the time which is the main reason why this board requires very little moderation.
