T/S: Tuomas vs a tumour

what i would suggest as a better/more fun course of action is 1) expose which fourth-tier ilxor this is posting anonymous attacks or 2) if it's someone who's only posted as 'bato' just go ahead and ban the fucker. for thanksgiving.

j blount (papa la bas), Wednesday, 23 November 2005 22:18 (twenty years ago)

it's #2, all pretty boring trolling though, not even sure it's worth a ban.

Sub-lucas at best.

Boris Johnson - capital wheeze or intolerable buffoon?

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Friday, 10 March 2006 14:04 (twenty years ago)

Umm, why?

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 10 March 2006 14:10 (twenty years ago)

img spam

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Friday, 10 March 2006 14:10 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to steal every Private Eye joke ever if it happens.

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!! (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Friday, 10 March 2006 14:11 (twenty years ago)

The abusive spammer on the Johnson thread has been locked out of it.

This decision could be overturned by another mod perhaps but I believe I am adhering to rules here. It seemed better to do this than to just lock the entire thread.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 10 March 2006 14:26 (twenty years ago)

i think they've used their 133t skills to go in unregistered....

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Friday, 10 March 2006 14:27 (twenty years ago)

thread now locked to unregistered users. what fun!

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 10 March 2006 14:28 (twenty years ago)

The thread went off topic for quite some time. I asked/suggested that it be taken back on topic. When this was disregarded, I decided that the thread had gone "anything goes". If it's OK for Marcello and Dada et al to derail the thread onto discussing their current lusts, then whatever. I can post picture after picture to remind them what the thread is actually about.

Stevem decided to use his moderation powers to carry on our long-running feud, so I retaliated. Treat me like a baby, and I will act like one. That seems to be the long-standing way of getting any kind of results on ILX.

Show's over, go home.

Fish is Biodegradable! (That Means It Rots) (kate), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:21 (twenty years ago)

somewhat redundant xpost - Enrique's quote, which may obviously have been missed on the Boris thread, is v OTM. The Watercooler thread has some context on what exactly went wrong, and why it might not happen again. I personally would let her back on after an apology, though of course the decision is yours.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:27 (twenty years ago)

Kate ruined the thread by just posting pictures and nothing else. Nobody needed reminding what the thread was supposedly about. Derails are common and usually temporary and harmless. It was not even a significant derailment as the subject was still people who align themselves with the Conservative party, a party that Johnson is a member of. This strikes me as a perfectly acceptable 'digression'. If somebody was not happy with this they could've continued talking about Johnson rather than complaining or resorting to spam.

For some reason Kate couldn't seem to handle this concept and spammed the thread with images. When called out for this she continued and then became abusive. I used my moderator privileges to lock you for these reasons, which as I understand it, is acceptable under the circumstances. As you may remember from your 'META: Thread Ownership' thread many people do not agree with your views re complaining about threads that go 'off-topic' on the thread itself - this only deepens the deviation.

Kate, you acted like a baby so you were treated like one, not the other way around. If this is what carrot cake or whatever does to you then my opinion is you need to stay off places like ILX as it's clearly not safe.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:30 (twenty years ago)

Eh, wouldn't staying off carrot cake do the same? I don't get the impression that it's an experience she wishes to repeat any time soon.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:33 (twenty years ago)

but it almost certainly will happen again, as it always does, and not just with me.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:34 (twenty years ago)

Andrew, could you possibly have made things any worse?

Stevem, you remain a double-standard asshole, nothing has changed.

Fish is Biodegradable! (That Means It Rots) (kate), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:38 (twenty years ago)

Andrew, withdraw I reckon. Stevem OTM.

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:40 (twenty years ago)

Andrew has done nothing wrong and nor have I.

You cannot argue effectively here so are reduced to abuse once again. Oh well.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:41 (twenty years ago)

I read the Watercooler threads, against my better judgement. I see the abuse and warped perceptions continue over there.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:43 (twenty years ago)

Incidentally I have since tried to steer the Johnson thread back on track, but people ain't havin' it!

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:47 (twenty years ago)

kate you said yourself the cake was making you crazy, so how is steve (or andrew) to blame?

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 10 March 2006 15:56 (twenty years ago)

I don't have much more to say here. I don't consider Kate going image-happy to be a small matter - the last time this happened the boards shut down for two weeks - but it hasn't happened in a while (that I've seen) and I thought it was worth pointing out that this was an isolated event. But I think trying to create an understanding here is apt to get me shot by both sides, so fuck it.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 10 March 2006 16:01 (twenty years ago)

Treat me like a baby, and I will act like one.

or vice versa.

o -- (eman), Friday, 10 March 2006 16:38 (twenty years ago)

Speaking of double standards, semi-porn image splooges are now completely fucking up the new answers blog. I don't see the mighty Stevem banning that user.

Fish is Biodegradable! (That Means It Rots) (kate), Friday, 10 March 2006 17:07 (twenty years ago)

you might see other moderators doing something about it.

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Friday, 10 March 2006 17:10 (twenty years ago)

I don't use the New Answers blog so won't see semi-porn spam unless it's on a thread I've chosen to view or someone links to the threads on this board.

Or maybe it really is a vendetta/conspiracy after all - so hard to know for sure. Double-standards? Lame.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 10 March 2006 17:15 (twenty years ago)

Yes, I saw a moderator EDITING, which is the right and proper thing to do. Not outright banning, which is as childish as the behaviour it's trying to prevent.

Fish is Biodegradable! (That Means It Rots) (kate), Friday, 10 March 2006 17:49 (twenty years ago)

I dunno if yer aware of this steve, but among the thread permissions is "no img tags", might have been better than outright banning in this case?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 10 March 2006 18:06 (twenty years ago)

er, that don't work tho. sorry.

not yet anyway

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 10 March 2006 18:13 (twenty years ago)

No? Oops! I thought it did.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 10 March 2006 18:14 (twenty years ago)

but other might people might want to post pics normally and that would prevent that no? doesn't seem fair.

and kate would probably have complained about not being able to post pictures of him anymore just as much anyway.

she did want jon williams and others banned for spamming i seem to recall. her behaviour (spamming and then being abusive to others just because they criticise her behaviour) has been as bad as his and others.

mods are generally stricter with idiotic/immature/unreasonable behaviour on both ILE and ILM now and this is just a reflection of that.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 10 March 2006 23:28 (twenty years ago)

Folks, how about we just sit down with a nice warm slab of hen fap and put all this behind us?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 12 March 2006 19:28 (twenty years ago)

lol immature
