Deletion request

Could you please delete my last two posts on 'Do you feel you're being ignored'?

I'm deeply embarrassed and did it in a rash moment and I'm giving up this shit.

Thank you.

Please somebody delete this quickly.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Saturday, 4 September 2004 10:49 (twenty years ago)

I know it was stupid to post in the first place. I've no idea why I put myself out there like that but I deeply regret it.

If you can please delete this, I won't post again.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Saturday, 4 September 2004 12:02 (twenty years ago)

She is referring to the posts on this thread:

Do you ever feel you're being ignored?

I can see why she has made this request -- someone please get on it as soon as they can.

I'm afraid I'm not minded to delete this, for several reasons: firstly, we are moderating the forum, not tidying up after people do things they regret; secondly, you haven't revealed anything about anyone (including you) who can be identified by any of us; and thirdly there is reaction to and discussion of it by others, so it would stop a good thread making sense.

I'm sorry this seems unsympathetic, but I don't think you have anything to feel worried or upset about in what you have posted. I'm just one moderator, and someone else may feel differently, and fulfil your request.

Oh my goodness, but I AM upset.

I've never asked for anything to be deleted before and I've written some stupid things in the past.

Please reconsider

Penelope, I'm just trying to apply our moderator guidelines here for what we should take action on - they were thrashed out with much discussion, much of it based on experience of what causes good or bad effects - and this falls outside them, I'm afraid. One of the thing that always causes complaints and bad feeling is deleting something where there is discussion following on from it, as you either have to alter/delete several other posts too, or you make nonsense of them. Does anyone here know who you are, beyond a name on a message board?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 4 September 2004 17:13 (twenty years ago)

Yes, Martin, two people do. I understand what you're saying but there hasn't been any meaningful discussion about the topic and I'll accept full responsibility if the 3 people who posted after me are annoyed.

Please delete it. I sent the link to this forum to some friends ages ago and I don't know if they visit or not, but there is a distinct possibility that they do.

I'm terribly sorry for the trouble but I can't explain to you how awful I feel having posted it.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Saturday, 4 September 2004 18:59 (twenty years ago)

I asked about people knowing who you are, because that means that you have posted personal info about other people who could be identified, which allows me to feel that deleting it is near enough within our guidelines. I'm pleased to do so, and I'm sorry to have made such a fuss about it.

Thank you.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Thursday, 16 September 2004 13:09 (twenty years ago)

I would keep an eye on this thread anyway since a whole bunch of SomethingAwful images are hotlinked into it and I expect that they will shortly be replaced with amazingly pornographic images.
