the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:03 (twenty years ago)

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:04 (twenty years ago)

that other thread went allcrazylike over night and then it took too long for me to load. what did i miss?

Hayden (Pow, Pow, Pow) (haitch), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:07 (twenty years ago)

I wanna write some 8-bit Devilfunk.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:08 (twenty years ago)

Who knows. Usually it's just 'la la la la la la' at the top of his voice.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:08 (twenty years ago)

Actually, it's not fair to call him a cunt, really. It's not his fault this building is made of paper.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:09 (twenty years ago)

I sing all the time when Im home alone... my poor neighbours :D

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:10 (twenty years ago)

Ack!! Are you six foot four and male?

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:11 (twenty years ago)

he might be singing lalalala in tune with my whistling neighbour, he doesn't whistle proper songs either

gem (trisk), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:12 (twenty years ago)

Oh, this guy whistles too. I suspect he's channelling Babe.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:12 (twenty years ago)

Then you should say to him, 'that'll do, pig'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:15 (twenty years ago)

Adam - haha maybe you can hear me from 2 streets over, you poor fucker ;P

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:16 (twenty years ago)

Ahaha, probably.

They're such nice people, I hate bitching about them. Perhaps they can do my assignment for me.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:16 (twenty years ago)

And you take over the singing duties for a while?

Hayden (Pow, Pow, Pow) (haitch), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:17 (twenty years ago)

Hah! That'd stop him.

Hey, let's rack up this thread to 1,000 posts before the end of today.*

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:18 (twenty years ago)

the whistler is nice too. it only upsets me that he's so unbearably happy and whistly all the time when i have a hangover or am cramming for exams.

gem (trisk), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:18 (twenty years ago)

Yeah. But again, it's this building, we can hear everything they do. Everything. Flicking light switches, laughing, walking, &c.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:20 (twenty years ago)

And we're above them, so I'd hate to think what they have to put up with from us.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:20 (twenty years ago)

rooting noises

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:21 (twenty years ago)

Not yet.

Although in New Zealand, in some caravan/cabin park, we heard the people through the wall fucking for a good 40 minutes nonstop.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:21 (twenty years ago)

Is it not double brick, your block then? My blocks ok. Except for this inexplicable noise that starts up at about 5.45am every weekday morning, which sounds like some kind of pumping engine or dryer spinning or I dunno WTF, and goes for 20 mins then stops. I think it might be something to do with the garden sprinklers. Its annoyed the CRAP out of me for over 4 years. WHY SIX AM YOU BASTARDS.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:22 (twenty years ago)

The walls are double brick, but the floors are timber, and there's sod-all insulation.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:22 (twenty years ago)

Oh, and these people don't go all night, they keep the music down and stuff. They're considerate.

Can you go out and smash the pump or something? Claim an irish wolfhound sat on it.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 12 September 2004 23:23 (twenty years ago)

and the wang thing happened because I was a curious kid, and thought my doodle might be a neat place to put the jewelry box (the lack of response from my nose, finger, ear, toe seemed to need some genital challanging)...and somehow the spring caught on the end. Ned, do you despise us now? Are we like Crocodile Dundee II to you now? Come back! We need powerful friends right now.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:52 (twenty years ago)

he dissed us on the canadian thread! he hates us and only comes here to toy with our emotions. he has never told us anything as intimate as jeremy's jewellry box story.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:57 (twenty years ago)

i propose a kind of mongrel fatwah on Ned!

gaz (gaz), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:57 (twenty years ago)

I am a powerful friend! This one time I ate powerbar and beat up five really big guys!

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:58 (twenty years ago)

jeremy doesn't look remotely powerful to me. He looks like an indie heartthrob who couldn't beat up a chip packet.

Ned is bored with us. We are like Yahoo Serious: entertaining to Americans at first, but wearing in the long term.

what were your ideas gaz? (ha rainy)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:05 (twenty years ago)

well, we had to make a class 16mm movie and it had to be a road movie. and i wanted it to feature two diff people (one male, one female) each in their own car, one driving this way--> and one driving that way

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:08 (twenty years ago)

argh!!!! where's me post gone?

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:09 (twenty years ago)

yahoo serious stole it!

rainy (rainy), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:09 (twenty years ago)

well that's a very interesting idea gaz.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:11 (twenty years ago)

ok so they're driving to meet each other and then they see each others cars from a distance out in the desert (maybe a long straight road and clouds of red dust) and they start to accelerate cos they really really wanna meet.

only it turns out to be a suicide pact and they keep accelerating...BOOOM!

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:11 (twenty years ago)

well, i was only 19

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:11 (twenty years ago)

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:12 (twenty years ago)

I think that's a very workable idea.

rainy (rainy), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:12 (twenty years ago)

it's an outtake from 'Crash'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:13 (twenty years ago)

Mr. Serious probably wanted more slapstick

rainy (rainy), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:13 (twenty years ago)

for example, switch the cars to donkeys and the people to chickens

rainy (rainy), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:14 (twenty years ago)

so: get this. what "the class" decided was that there's this chick hitchhiking and she gets picked up by this guy in a car and they are talking and he looks up and Uh-oh thats a big fucking truck and the last shot is of a hub cap rolling across the road.

i mean WTF!!???

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:16 (twenty years ago)

rainy i wish you had been in my class there.

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:16 (twenty years ago)

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:10 (twenty years ago)

*cries* I am not having a good day. Work is being bafflingly retarded. These sydney people are incompetent fools! This training is tuning into a mess. AARGH. I need a drinx0r.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:25 (twenty years ago)

Just be grateful you don't have to deal with Sydney people every day, Trayce.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:26 (twenty years ago)

Does the nice weather outweight the fuxors in Syndey, Col? I'd like to try another Australian city besides this black sinkhole of despair.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:28 (twenty years ago)

That's the cruel twist about Sydney, Michael. It does! And there's NOTHING anyone can do about it. There are only three good things about Sydney: the harbour, the weather and the hills. Everything else is stuffed. Especially the people, except for me and gaz. And our loved ones. But all this is utterly thrown into the shade by those three factors.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:32 (twenty years ago)

I can deal with all manner of fucks, dorks, dweebs, eejits, fules, asslemurs, knobgoblins and wackjackals if it meant that I could get more than three days of sunshine in a row and a certain degree of warmth.

I'm finally cracking. I was entertaining suggestions of going to work in Queensland for about five minutes the other day.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:38 (twenty years ago)

perth is lovely and warm today.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:39 (twenty years ago)

Sydney's for you mate. Coming here from London as a kid was like escaping a dungeon.

Perth is indeed lovely gem, my favourite aussie city if you don't count Melb's nitelife.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:40 (twenty years ago)

perth's night life can leave a bit to be desired, tis true. and you're always bumping into people you don't want to see. but the beach and river are unparalleled!

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:44 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I only picked up recently that my mood is heavily dependent on good weather and sunlight. Upon reflection, the great cycle of my moods and depressions reaches its nadir mid-June.

I loved Perth when I visited it some ten years ago. I was a supremely dorky participant of the Scout Jambouree they held there and I tell you, there was nothing as good for mind, body and soul as camping out and going off and doing outdoorsy crap amidst the beauty of the Western Australian bush.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:45 (twenty years ago)

and aaah, the golden light on the rippling blue waters... it's like the whole town is in dreamland...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:46 (twenty years ago)

Yeah Perth rocks weather and people wise, its only real drawback is the isolation :(

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:48 (twenty years ago)

Heheh, I might have to take my girlfriend for a visit to your fair city. She's a yank, studying at the University of Melbourne. She's been here for about a year all up, and she's still to see the harbour, opera house and bridge close up instead of through a plane window.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:49 (twenty years ago)

xpost - yep i would definitely like to be much closer to sydney and melbs. but it is very cheap to live in. and it is kinda easy to be a big fish in a small pond here.

also i think the isolation is one of the reasons we have a pretty good live music scene here.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:50 (twenty years ago)

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:52 (twenty years ago)

Michael, be sure to look us up if you come to Syd.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:53 (twenty years ago)

Have I asked you if we have any mutual friends gem? You know anyone who goes to places like Amplifier, or any of the goth clubs?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 05:56 (twenty years ago)

errrr well *i* used to spend a large amount of time at amplifier! mainly after i moved north of the river from freo in 2001/2002/2003. not as a goth though, more to see local indie bands. haven't been much the last few months though. they did it up recently and turned the globe (that was the front bar) into this weird semi-yuppie establishment, it was most upsetting, i wondered in one night to find a football panel type show being filmed in there! i don't know if we would have any mutual friends, i have only ever known a few goths sort of incidentally through other things, like working as a drug counsellor and studying psych.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 06:09 (twenty years ago)

So, gem... you:

(1) Did psychology
(2) Worked as a drug counsellor
(3) Frequented goth clubs

...and you are not a goth? I'm just asking.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 06:11 (twenty years ago)

haha I see your point, i could be a stereotype! amplifier isn't a goth club every night though.

no, although i generally like goths that i have met very much, i have never felt inclined to become one myself. i have kind of olivey coloured skin, i don't know if i could achieve that deathly white look without a lot of makeup.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 06:14 (twenty years ago)

The OC looks like a shite daytime soap from the ads (it even has an ex daytime soap guy in it!) so I've never bothered.

BUT!!! People Like Us is back on ABC on Tues nights! It was on last night (its only repeats tho), it was one about a working mum, with Tamsin Greig (Fran from Black Books) playing the frazzled mum who thinks shes fat. HIlarious stuff, I love that show.

Sometimes I leave it off when I just want peace and to read a book tho.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 00:16 (twenty years ago)

i never do this.

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 00:19 (twenty years ago)

What, you never read a book at night? or never watch tv?

But you have kids, presumably thats a lot of work too. Me, I come home exhausted at about 7pm and I have to cook dinner, and that takes a while, and then eat it, and then (try and) clean up, then I collapse on the couch. I never have any energy left to even *think* about going to see a band, or doign exercise, or working on my website or stories, or well, anything :( I dont know why Im always so tired.

Well yes, I do have an idea actually but eh anyway.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 00:21 (twenty years ago)

i never leave the tv on when i'm not really watching it. but yes, kids. and i feel fucked at the end of my unsatisfying day too. what kind of life do we lead Trayce?

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 00:26 (twenty years ago)

A stupidly draining one obv :( I never did have a lot of energy, but being some kind of quiet, slow moving, stay at home and read/create person isnt a way to make a living (mores the pity).

Having said that apparently one of my cousins is about to spend three years (!!!) in her home meditating, as some buddhist thing. Her sister is gonna bring her food and stuff.

It didnt occur to me to ask mum how the hell she'll pay her bills and have money to live on, maybe she has a wad of savings.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 00:29 (twenty years ago)

I do the "leave TV on in the background" thing too, though it's a bad habit I think, I'm trying to cut down a bit.

Flip a colin!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 05:49 (twenty years ago)

I was on set today and my friend was adjusting my trousers in the back for a pretty tight ass-close-up. And I told her that if she wanted to have her hands in that vicinity, she had to turn me around. She laughed - and I realized that my Screenwriting instructor was standing nearby. He shot me a horrified look, and I ran away.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 06:11 (twenty years ago)

My undies weren't sticking out, at least. I was wearing boxer shorts with red elephants on them, and the stupid wardrobe girl announced this to everybody on set, inc. the teamsters - who looked like they wanted to beat my brains out.

ex-jeremy (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 06:14 (twenty years ago)

Aw, effelants on yr boxers! Thats cute ;P

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 06:16 (twenty years ago)

what's a teamster?

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 06:19 (twenty years ago)

team·ster

1. One who drives a truck for hauling loads, especially as an occupation:

and my bit: Unionized, distainful of all filmmakers, actors, anybody on set who doesn't have a class CDL (commercial permit) driver's license. Especially tall skinny Colombian kids in elephant boxershorts.

ex-jeremy (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 06:27 (twenty years ago)

they're probably just jealous of your boxers. so i take it "unionised" is a bad thing?

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 06:29 (twenty years ago)

not generally, but in this case... yes. it's a definite pack mentality.

Trayce that looong holiday you are expecting is going to be so good for you. At the moment you seem to be sick every second day!

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 23:37 (twenty years ago)

Really? I didnt think I had been, but I spose I have a day a month off (is that a lot? I guess it is for some).

To be honest, about 60% of recent sickdays have probably been more drink-related than anything else, heh. Not this time tho. I havent had a cold or flu in over 2 years though as it happens. I'm just always very run down, and frankly today was an excuse to stay home, as I am fed up to the teeth with the work situ and from here I'll actually get my work done, ironically.

On the other hand, I havent had a holiday longer than 5 days or so in 2 years, and in the 5 years Ive been here I have only had ONE holiday longer than a week. So, yeah.

They're always sending us letters and forms to change our address. They know where we live now [otherwise these demands wouldn't reach us], so why don't they just change it themselves?

I worked with a guy from El Salvador who hated that as well. He said he's American

Anyway, once I realised the original seppos* labelled the continent 'America' and nobody else ever did, I stopped caring as much.

That said, I try to avoid calling US people 'Americans' because I know how much it pisses off Canadians.

how went the fondue mole?

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 19 September 2004 07:26 (twenty years ago)

an unqualified, complete and total success. All three fondues rocked the ashram.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 19 September 2004 07:42 (twenty years ago)

they were...?

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 19 September 2004 07:44 (twenty years ago)

by which i mean what were they?

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 19 September 2004 07:52 (twenty years ago)

Fondue 1 - the classic. Swiss Gruyere, goats cheese, brandy. Dippers: bread, broccoli, carrot. High praise from guests.

Fondue 2 - Andy's thai fusion experiment. A broth of vegetable stock, onion, garlic, white wine. Dippers: prawns and scallops (latter very 70's). After cooking seafood in broth, into a dipping sauce of vinegar, fresh chili and coriander, lime and peanut oil. High praise from guests.

Fondue 3 - the dessert classic. Chocolate, kirsch, cream. Dippers: strawberries, apple pieces, melon pieces, banana pieces. Guests very drunk, gave very high praise, especially recommending the strawberry as the best dipper, with banana a close second.

R's birthday cake - pavlova (cooked by her, hahaha). Jawsome.

We went till about 5.30am. Music: Swedish garage rock, some Californian hardcore, some Calif slacker rock from the 80's, Bob Log, dub early on and early Warp ambience late at night.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 19 September 2004 08:03 (twenty years ago)

As for the musicians, there was lots of diappearing into my studio to play each other new tracks, which was fun.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Sunday, 19 September 2004 23:24 (twenty years ago)

Speaking of gothness, someone said at the party that black metallers are goths that you don't f*** over.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 19 September 2004 23:26 (twenty years ago)

I stuck bread on a skewer and dipped it in the cheese fondue

I'm sick in the head, me.

And how are you sick? Im curious, cos ive been ill with a weird fluey exhaustion, fever and achyness since last week and it seems to be doing the rounds. Like glandular, almost.

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 19 September 2004 23:53 (twenty years ago)

How so is it bad?

It's just boring. The odd track stands out for its arrangement, but overall it sounds forced. I'll give it another 20-odd listens, because most albums seem to open up around that point, but I'm not holding my breath innit.

And how are you sick?

Not sure yet. Just woke up feeling like crap, having spent the whole weekend doing a massive assignment and eating pizza and chocolate. Sore throat, headache, groggy &c.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 19 September 2004 23:54 (twenty years ago)

highlight of the night: one girl talking about she didn't understand kinky stuff and thought it was silly. Pure Elektro for the new compilation CLAN ANALOGUE
31-08-2004

In the earth where desert and canguri they make it from mastersthe musical panorama is not of gets worse and one of the best oneslabel is sure the Analogue Clan. In its scuderia it does not have famous names but this does not put torisk the quality represented from emergent like Nerve Agent, Telemetry Orchestra, Atone and Carrier. The experimentation is to the order of the day, discs are alternated from listen like those Jazz Future, Down Time, More congenital Breakbeat and discs to the people of the night likethe electro, the techno and quite goa trance. To the July beginning the Analogue Clan will publish release the 034"Doppler Shift: electro selections ", one selection of the cream of artists electro and synth-POP ofAustralia. Disco-music, new-wave, soul and rock they are joined for a travel to the discovery of thesedisowned traces that to times they remember much Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and Voltaire Cabaret. This plan includes also pieces of Itch-e & Scratch-e, General Electrik and Bleepin promotori J Squawkins of the sound of thelabel Australian that imporsi also in the European market wants.

(I cant handle this)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 20 September 2004 04:42 (twenty years ago)

hey Trayce i thought it was all over...i mean, can't you just chill, do nothing? aren't you leaving and being given money?

yes, why take on all this if you're leaving?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 20 September 2004 04:57 (twenty years ago)

We have to train the guys taking on our jobs in Sydney. We dont have any choice. Its a silly way to do things, granted, but the only people with the knowledge of what we do is, well, us. And despite numerous attempts in the past to get the projects guys to document what we do it never happened properly so now we have to do it ourselves *grumble*. I mean its either that or just go and say "work it out yrselves" and unfortunately it doesnae work that way.

I mean I dont mind, its good experience (I've totally forgotten how to use Word for more fiddly things like tables of contents and technical docs), but yeesh I am only one man. Or woman.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 20 September 2004 05:27 (twenty years ago)

Phi1 Tr1pp... hmm... he's the 1mmed1a bloke inne? They were a customr of ours for a while that I had to deal with. I dimly recall it ending badly for some reason.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:55 (twenty years ago)

Ahaha, I was milling about right outside Pause just before. Oh well.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:56 (twenty years ago)

yeah i think so trayce. i have no "proper" reason for being annoyed by him and i don't post to mono that often so i should probably not have said that. he just seems a bit sanctimonious though.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:57 (twenty years ago)

So blerdy well come back, Adam! ;P Play "see if you can work out which one Trayce is" or something.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 05:59 (twenty years ago)

No! Going to the 'Gurge gig ffs. It's FREE.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 06:05 (twenty years ago)

Pah.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 06:10 (twenty years ago)

Adam check yer PMs at the other site!

Hayden (Pow, Pow, Pow) (haitch), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 06:12 (twenty years ago)

I'd go to the bubble too, but the crowd will be horrible in this weather. Stinky hippies.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 06:15 (twenty years ago)

jim, we have the Relaxed Muscle album on glow in the dark extra crackly green vinyl!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 20:54 (twenty years ago)

amuse me...PLEASE!!!!!

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 23:59 (twenty years ago)

I had a lovely nite last nite at Pause, drinking gin and tonics with bitters with the warm breeze blowing in from Balaclava Coles carpark (haha how romantic) and catching up with a buttload of people I havent seen in ages, it ended up with us all round the communal table down the front, was really good! Wish I'd held off having the wine I had after I got home, I feel a bit tired today.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 00:20 (twenty years ago)

oooh green vinyl

i've been on a team building exercise today.

trayce you feel tired every day!

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:08 (twenty years ago)

Yes, I do. I genuinely don't understand how people can do things after a day at work like gym, gigs, hobbies. I honestly dont know how they do it. I am usually too tired and sore to even do grocery shopping, tho I force myself anyway. Some days I get a burst of energy but that just puts me into normal mode - I can clean house, cook tea etc. Thats less often than the tiredness tho.

Ive been like this a long time. I guess I've just got used to it, but people don't understand when I constantly turn down social occasions and stuff :( :(

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:10 (twenty years ago)

Like right now I have a pain in my right side I have had all day and I feel bloated and sore. I have a sore lower back like buggery. I'm mentally drained from writing boring technical docs in word all day. And this is a *good* day cus I at least feel OK enough to cook dinner and do some work when I get home. WHY ITS NOT FAIR.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:11 (twenty years ago)

Could you possibly have chronic fatigue syndrome or whatever it's now called?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:14 (twenty years ago)

i think people naturally have wildly varying energy levels, yet we all measure ourselves against each other, thinking it's normal to work a million hours then do heaps of other stuff too. sounds like a bummer trayce :(

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:16 (twenty years ago)

I have had it in the past. I had glandular at 21 and have never quite been the same since. Went thru a spate of what they called CFS a few years later where I would have days I couldnt get out of bed cos I couldnt even wake up :/ Tried allergy diets (didnt help much), anti depressants, they even suggested epilepsy meds (!!?!) but nothing really worked, it just went away eventually. Now, I think its worse more cos I am hassling my liver with all the shit I take, and I never exercise so that doesnt help. I am gonna try detoxing and exercising slowly and see if it does anything. Im tired of being like this. It isnt normal, is it?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:16 (twenty years ago)

Gem: thats a good point too. I think I'm just naturally more sedentary. Its odd tho, I used to love gymnastics and dancing and stuff as a kid. Dunno what happened to me.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:17 (twenty years ago)

as a kid? you grew up and got a job and financial commitments and all the other 101 mental and physical commtiments that adults have

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:18 (twenty years ago)

Hahah... yesh, thats so true :(

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:19 (twenty years ago)

was that the gig the gurge did for the greens.?

i'm doing some work for the greens campaign here in the electorate of menzies (ultra safe liberal seat, but hey, gotta give it a go) and surprisingly, these greens people... they're not kooks!

/political crap

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:22 (twenty years ago)

i'm surprised the greens didn't get a bit more mileage out of that kooky comment from the prime monster. he sounded like such an ancient conservative relic!!

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:25 (twenty years ago)

Hahah that reminds me of that old crazy who wrote to the Age or whatever saying the greens were going to take over if they got office and make everyone turn into vegetarians and then all our soldiers would get killed cos they'd be too weak from all the eating vegetables (I'm not making this up). It was the most hilarious thing ever, it reminded me of that Dead Milkmen song "Stuart" - "DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE GAYS ARE DOING TO THE SOIL!?!?!"

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:27 (twenty years ago)

i'm looking forward to election day. all the liberal how-to-vote dudes are probably going to try to kick my ass though.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:36 (twenty years ago)

i love a bit of right wing but completely unfounded hysteria. pauline hanson is usually a good source too.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 06:38 (twenty years ago)

well, how about them family first schlubs?

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 07:12 (twenty years ago)

yeah they've come from nowhere haven't they? i dunno i have a deepseated fear/scepticism about godbotherers anyways, never mind when they're trying to enter politics. even crikey.com had something to say about them today.

http://www.crikey.com.au/politics/2004/09/21-0001.html

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 07:18 (twenty years ago)

apparently the assemblies of god tell their congregation how to vote? it makes me shiver and reminds me of brainwashing and whathaveyou. maybe i'm paranoid though.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 07:19 (twenty years ago)

do. not. start. me. on. the. assemblies. of. god.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 07:28 (twenty years ago)

Back on the tiredness thing, get an evaluation Trayce. I think 'they' can do a test that tells you if you've got a problem there. It could be something really simple, like an iron deficiency.

Exercise strips years off you. Dead set. When I'm doing well at the gym I've got loads of energy; compared to this time last year... well, there's no comparison, really.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 07:53 (twenty years ago)

Apropos of that, I need skate buddies.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 07:56 (twenty years ago)

totally agree adam, it's just the freakin' motivation. why is everything in the burbs so far away from each other?

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 08:31 (twenty years ago)

do. not. start. me. on. the. assemblies. of. god.
-- Michael Stuchbery

Why, Michael? Do you not like them?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 10:04 (twenty years ago)

weeeeeeeell, there's hillsong and the whole 'telling parishioners who to vote for' thing, as per the crikey article.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 11:15 (twenty years ago)

The burbs are shit. Ne'er am I living in them things e'er again.

The Spine improves with repeated listening. So much so, in fact, that I can't facking stop playing it now. Damn Good Times was the soundtrack to my final day at work yesterday, weird and emotional day that it was.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 21:44 (twenty years ago)

YOU ARE FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 21:48 (twenty years ago)

Weirdest feeling evar. I don't have a job or a pass to get into the building or ANYTHING. I'm taking today off and I feel awesome and scared at the same time.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 21:49 (twenty years ago)

walk around in the sunshine and realise you are NOT INSIDE HAVING YOUR SOUL DESTROYED.

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 21:50 (twenty years ago)

Ah. That brings me to my other problem: My feet are unbearably painful. I don't want to walk at all today if I can help it.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 21:52 (twenty years ago)

i thought it was all fixed up with the orthotics?

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 21:57 (twenty years ago)

I thought so too, but my heels hurt now. It's because the orthotics aren't quite perfect, and I was on my feet all day Tuesday and yesterday. I'll get 'em fixed up next week, shouldn't be a problem.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 21:58 (twenty years ago)

My heels hurt a lot too - and weirdly I go thru socks a LOT at the heel, as if my heels are POINTY or something weird. Stupid feet.

Anyhoo. Tiredness. Diet? It cant be that. I eat a lot of dark greens like brocoli, cabbage, beans, I eat red meat, I make as sure as I can I eat regular meals and I avoid junk food mostly. I dont have sugary drinnks ever except for a V now and then. I have one coffee a day. My iron levels are fine, my liver and kidneys are fine.

Having said all that I smoke and drink like a sailor, so I think the *recent* shitty tiredness might be more to do with that, as the days lately where I've gone wi'out I feel a lot better. But I also felt downright *awful* 2 days and all during my period, as I have started to every one for the last 6 months or so... which makes me wonder if me hormones might be all wacked out :(

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:28 (twenty years ago)

Have you seen a naturopath or holistic practitioner? Them people can work wonders.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:30 (twenty years ago)

Or, even a dietitician? Perhaps you're eating all the right things for someone else.

I rely on a lot of protein, red meat and pulses and mushrooms and such. 'Er indoors needs loads of veg and can go completely without red meat. I think it's got a lot to do with things like blood type.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:31 (twenty years ago)

No, havent. I dunno... I'm wary of costs I suppose. I dont have health insurance. Dude it takes me a broken leg to go to a GP these days. Fuck you and your "medicare" Howard. I havent seen a dentist in over 10 years.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:32 (twenty years ago)

Actually now you put it like that, lately I have become very aware of my blood sugar levels. I think theyre a little flaky, cos if I have the wrong kind of lunch (say, something v starchy or too much sugar) by 4pm I cant even stand up. I seem to run better on meat and veg and lentils than on pasta and bread. Meh I dunno.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:33 (twenty years ago)

Hypoglycaemia, perhaps? A GP once told me I'm hypoglycaemic, but I think it's probably more that I shouldn't eat a giant fuck-off bowl of Coco Pops for breakfast.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:35 (twenty years ago)

Also there's quality of life and work issues at play here. I mean, your jobs are all pretty unrewarding from the sound of it. That may affect your health adversely.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:50 (twenty years ago)

also your drug addiction

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:51 (twenty years ago)

Hahah :D

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:07 (twenty years ago)

'a giant fuck-off bowl of Coco Pops' hahaha

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:19 (twenty years ago)

i'm quite energetic these days, i think being (a) happier and (b) not smoking help a great deal. i'm sure if i drank less i'd be even better but the fuck that's going to happen

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:54 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I reckon smokings a bastard for energy. I've skipped the smokes totally most of this week (except Tuesday) and I feel pretty good. I keep trying to suggest to Nick that his pack a day is probably contributing largely to his massive tiredness but he won't listen.. tch boys ;)

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:13 (twenty years ago)

I also seem to have to avoid spices and wines, they seem to trigger my food intolerances and give me headaches and sinus probs which add to tiredness.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:14 (twenty years ago)

Trayce, the problem is that you need blood. You are sick because a human, mortal, diet is not appropriate to your kind.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:45 (twenty years ago)

also the terrible burning light of day will deplete you of your strength!

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 23 September 2004 01:47 (twenty years ago)

Seriously though, Trayce, maybe you really are a bit otherkin aand need to think about this stuff like diet and lifestyle on a pagan level. Even if it's all crap on a spiritual level, there may be something to it on a diet/body type level.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 23 September 2004 02:12 (twenty years ago)

true dat. naturopaths can work wonders with diet.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 23 September 2004 02:14 (twenty years ago)

and if its all crap on a diet/body level...maybe there's something in it on a spiritual one!
