Lovely is the feelin' now
Fever, temperatures risin' now
Power (ah power) is the force the vow
That makes it happen
It asks no questions why (ooh)
So get closer (closer now) to my body now
Just love me 'til you don't know how (ooh)

Keep on with the force, don't stop
Don't stop 'til you get enough

This is the Thread Where I Say Pt 13: Scared Stupid

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

she has spoken.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it possible to really ever get enough?

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

There's no way in this world that he actually sings "with the force, don't stop". I've listened to it *thousands* of times. Whatever he does say only has four syllables in it. But I know, I know, that's what the lyric sheet says. It kills me.

JimD (JimD), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i think when hit the 20th thread we all need to get together and party. start saving yr pennies kids.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Confession -- reading those lyrics just turned me on a little bit.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ya I know, but I couldn't be bothered downloading it to listen to it, and every lyrics site I looked at said the same thing, so I thought wow, I really don't care enough to analyze it any further.

It's possible that I am sleepy and sort of cranky this morning.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I think he maybe says "keep on, feel the bus stop, don't stop 'til you get enough".

JimD (JimD), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I heard the James Chance version of the song yesterday. Good cranky fun.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I am in no kind of headspace for a Monday.
But my new haircut makes me look like less of a bum.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, feel that bus stop, baby...

Hey, it works for me.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate hate hate hate hate these kids.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope you're singing that like you were Junior Senior!

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

it's running like a murderous mantra through my head. getting louder and more frentic.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Monday, 17 May 2004 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

slap a disco beat and shimmery guitar under that, and I think we can take this baby to the top 40!

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 17 May 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Eh, it's probably already an LCD Soundsystem song.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 17 May 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i think when hit the 20th thread we all need to get together and party. start saving yr pennies kids

This is a genius idea.

I heard the James Chance version of the song yesterday. Good cranky fun.

Weird. I was actually listening to the Embarrassment's version of it yesterday.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 17 May 2004 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

That's right, I forgot about that one too!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 17 May 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, also: Yay for Massachusetts.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 17 May 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

No, boo for Massachusetts, they want to change the name of legendary Route 128, immortalized in "Roadrunner" by the Modern Lovers. Anything else they do is a dollar late and a day short.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 17 May 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

is it getting a new corporate sponsored name?

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I started a thread on it...hold on while I search...
(p.s. I'm just kidding about the "boo" business)

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

aha, it was on ILM, so no wonder you didn't no about it
Roadrunner Roadrunner! In the News!

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:09 (twenty-one years ago)

fuck, is I stoopid. KNOW not NO

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:09 (twenty-one years ago)

he says don't twice. "with the force don't, don't stop til..."

oops (Oops), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

he says don't twice

Aw man, yes! I've been trying to figure that out for about seven years! Just listened to it again...AND YOU'RE RIGHT!

I love you.

JimD (JimD), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Some responses from the old thread:

dee needs to discover JetBlue.
All apologies to Ned here -- I have heard of this JetBlue. Something to do with VH1 Classic, hm? *laughs*

Sam, it's cool to know that you're exposing the kids to things they wouldn't normally listen to. If it weren't too late I'd suggest My Boys' "Last Chance on the Stairway", David Bowie's "Always Crashing the Same Car" and "In Every Dream Home a Heartache" by Roxy Music, just to see what they'd say about some of my very favorite songs.

Dee needs to discover that I35 goes north past Austin.
Ha. Sam needs to realize that I drive like an old lady and that I'm lucky if it takes me an hour and 45 minutes to get to Austin. But I so get your point, hon.

Congratulations, Chris and Archel! Hey Markelby and Bryan! Jeanne, what kind of "punk" are The Distillers? Are they old school a la the NY Dolls? First-gen Brit-school a la Buzzcocks? Goth-punk, e.g. The Misfits? Pop-punk? California punk?

Sarah, please do take care of yourself.

And now for this thread:

i think when hit the 20th thread we all need to get together and party. start saving yr pennies kids.
I actually like the idea of a "This Is The FAP Where We Say". Would be way cool, though the planning out of where it'd take place would be a bit of a predicament. How about make it sorta centralized and pick St. Louis or Chi-town?

Hey, welcome JimD! Chris, I'm totally celebrating MA's intelligence with you.

And because of the fucking stupidity of 70% of the voters here in this city, who have voted down referendums that would've helped usher in a new era for this place and some long-needed changes to local government, I am so very much in hatred mode re: S.A. I think the only reasons for my happiness here are personal at this point.

Those Beautiful Lines (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:10 (twenty-one years ago)

CHICAGO!

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Bonjour, mes amis! Yet another baking day in the land of Grannies and Beach Bunnies.

How about make it sorta centralized and pick St. Louis or Chi-town?

Is St. Louis central, though? Fab idea! Not like we don't have FAPs for everything else....

I think the only reasons for my happiness here are personal at this point.

Dee, usually is after a while.

Hola, Bryan and Archel!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

(NA, how was the party?)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Fun. See the end of the last thread where I say for a brief recap.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, on a side note and relevant to an email I just got, do I LOOK LIKE someone who wants to go to the rennaissance faire? If that's your thing, then fine, I have no problem with it, you know? But shit, do I LOOK like someone who would enjoy it? No, I fucking don't.

I mean, sure, I'll dress up as a saucy barmaid if you want, but go to the Faire? Um, no. Not now, not ever. Ask me again and I'll shove a jousting lance through thy testicles.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

HAHA! Make sure the lance is red hot, and I'd watch.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Prithee, luna.

I hate my job today. We had a "meeting" which just meant the VP yelled at everyone and cracked the virtual whip even though everyone here works really hard. Hire more people! GEEZUS LOUISUS! But the worst was I was coming down off my Dayquil and got all defensive in front of everyone even though he wasn't addressing anything to me directly. Doh!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, sure, I'll dress up as a saucy barmaid if you want, but go to the Faire?

??? That's probably exactly why he wanted you to go with him.

oops (Oops), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

But the worst was I was coming down off my Dayquil and got all defensive in front of everyone even though he wasn't addressing anything to me directly. Doh!

Cleansing your spleen is well worth it, Sarah. Did he say anything?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Nichole, I might not that it is NOT worth it in many cases, and that sounds like such a situation.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, note that I didn't say it was especially worth doing precisely then. However, I'm sure her boss knows it's not usual behaviour

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Prithee, noble sire, wouldst thou be so kind as to TAKE A BIG FAT BITE OUT OF MY ASS?

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Luna, you are doing nothing but encouraging them.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

You do have a point.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

what the fuck is a "librian" and why does this person here claim that it's her job?

Kingfish Disraeli (Kingfish), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

A Libra who's a librarian, maybe?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

She balances stuff. With her scales.

*cue snake-girl picture*

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I always think of St. Louis as centrally located, but Chicago would be fantastic! And now I feel like listening to Frank Sinatra, not surprisingly enough.

Luna, hon, sorry to say this but it seems as though you've got the jargon down. ;) Seriously, though, don't go if you don't want to. Simple as that.

Sarah, so sorry to hear about that. Though DayQuil rocks beyond rocking and maybe you should try to see if you can mainline that thing, because that and orange juice always manages to make me feel better after I've developed a flu or a really bad cold.

Kingfish, maybe a "librian" is someone who licks all boys named Brian?

Those Beautiful Lines (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Kingfish, maybe a "librian" is someone who licks all boys named Brian?

Dee has just made my day, yo.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 17 May 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

haha British news doing a piece on gay weddings in MA and sooooo missing the 'Boston Marriage' headline.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 17 May 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

one decent thing about this job, tho, is the fact that my ingrained cynicism and paranoia can be an asset. if i think a borrower or a broker is lying, they most likely are.

Kingfish Disraeli (Kingfish), Monday, 17 May 2004 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

What happens if they aren't?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 17 May 2004 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I've got nothing really interesting to report, except that it's still raining here. Also, I am sleepy.

el Huckle-huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm out of the hospital (again), mostly recovered, very tired and I look like complete shit, but I do feel a whole lot better... Kidney stones are the pits, and they hurt as much (in a different way) as having a baby. I hate this crap.

I'm at my mama's house today, so will be online sporadically.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

AIM isn't working reliably though, so if you want me, email me or something and yeah. Ow.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

best wishes for a speedy recorvery, luna!

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Ack, Luna. Feel better indeed!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Get better soon, Luna!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, Sorry to hear that, luna. (Hmm... labor is like kidney stone pain? I had a really bad kidney infection once that left me passed out in my shower crying, so that's not the best news, but um.. .yeah)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

(hugs) Luna, I wondered what was up! Thank God the doc found out what was wrong, as I was racking my brain. Feel better, hon. I'll keep the coffee piping in the pot.

I almost feel guilty to say that my weekend ended so well....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, but they'll give you an epidural for the labor pain. Not so much with the kidney thing.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

As it was, Memorial Weekend started the usual suck (due to that time of the month), but got better as one of my cousins showed up at the house while down here from Virginia for a Hip-Hop Fest that was in Miami. Hadn't seen her for years: everytime she came to NYC to visit, I was never there. Last time I saw her was when she was 15 or summat. She actually beat the system: 23 and working full time for great cash and a fab retirement package at an established institution (SunTrust Bank).

Damn, I was hungry for actual conversation;> We hung out driving and talking for much of the weekend. Though she's young, she's got mucho sense: her fave saying was "If [the guy trying to hit on her] can't offer me more than I've already got, I don't wanna know." (Translation: I work damn hard for what I've got. If you can't offer me something new, personality-wise, that would keep me interested, step off.) [In case you wondered, she's stunning and has no conceit whatsoever. If she allowed it, guys would hit on her constantly.]

(laughter) Apparently, the 'tude runs in the family. Now, you all know where I got it. I'm so proud.

The week better get better for us all.....or else.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

the usual suck (due to that time of the month)

yeah, rent is due.

el Huckle-huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Once a month, Huck, rent is easier to conquer.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I just wanted to seem like I understood mestruation.

el Huckle-huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Hubris, thy name is man.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

there's two Ns in Mann, Nichole.

Huck-El (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Already stomped one, Huck.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Should I slink away into the lonely night now?

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

My leash can't stretch that far, so stick around.

(Tis all good, Huck)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

phew!

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm having one of those days that typically follows a night of poor sleep. I feel crusty, achey, allergenic, and generally out of it. Actually, I've had two nights of bad sleep, Sunday night was full of dreams about killing people with large vases and Sarah's cat eating a lot of cheese.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

NA, sounds like the summer Flu. Take Benedryl. Ensures dreamless sleep....until you wake and your mouth feels like a mini-desert. But, you'll have slept.

Feel better, mate.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

NA, I have been like that for several days as well. I was living on a Claritin/DayQuil combo for a few days. Bleh!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you summoning oops, pink?

Don't you just hate it when someone you work with let's work build up before handing it to you? I mean, our receptionist/office admin person starts job files, you see. And then she hands them to me to do the ordering. I didn't get any from her yesterday and today she handed me ten at once. NOOOO!!!

I need a vacation.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

HEH, no!
Come to england sarah. we can drink cocktails & go shopping!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I had a million dollars. I could pay off all my student loans, quit my job, and travel for a while. And I wouldn't have to answer this stupid phone. BAH HUMBUG!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Awww! I know what you mean. we just signed the mortgage papers! 25 years with loadsa money! *gulp*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, any chance of a loan? say £150k to be going on with for now?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I'm not sick. It was just a combo of my body being used to staying up late (from the weekend) and then trying to go to bed at a reasonable time for work and caffeine. Resulting in me sleeping poorly and being achey and disoriented the next day. I feel much better today.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not even here today. I'm doing someone else's job and it's dull. As dull as my own job.
