David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 5 January 2006 05:34 (twenty years ago)

No singles, though.

Mark (MarkR), Thursday, 5 January 2006 05:37 (twenty years ago)

I was kidding with Sweet Neo-Con also -- actually having trouble thinking of good ones that weren't singles.

Mark (MarkR), Thursday, 5 January 2006 05:37 (twenty years ago)

Are all non-classic Rolling Stones records underrated?

Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 5 January 2006 06:14 (twenty years ago)

What's your favorite Stones album NOT in the canon, and why?

Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 5 January 2006 06:15 (twenty years ago)

Rolling Stones "You Got Me Rocking"

Stormy Davis (diamond), Thursday, 5 January 2006 06:15 (twenty years ago)

"Heaven," man

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Thursday, 5 January 2006 10:22 (twenty years ago)

Right, "Heaven"! I'd never heard it until bumrocks offered an mp3 a couple of weeks (months?) back, gorgeous ballad.

'Well I'm telling you they never got it right / Until they put out Undercover of the Night'

Michael J McGonigal (mike mcgonigal), Thursday, 5 January 2006 12:32 (twenty years ago)

"Heaven" is fabulous.

And the thread title is a bad joke.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 5 January 2006 13:39 (twenty years ago)

Winter is a good song from Goats Head Soup

Hand of Fate from Black and Blue

Rough Justice from the new one

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Thursday, 5 January 2006 15:10 (twenty years ago)

Fingerprint File

Billy Pilgrim (Billy Pilgrim), Thursday, 5 January 2006 15:12 (twenty years ago)

I haven't read the other threads listed above, but "Time Waits for No One" is one of my five favorite Stones tracks, and I'm still in disbelief that it was never a single.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Thursday, 5 January 2006 15:19 (twenty years ago)

"One Hit (To the Body)"!

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 5 January 2006 15:29 (twenty years ago)

No vote for "Before They Make Me Run"?
There's one of mine. I'll second the vote for "Hand of Fate."

James, Thursday, 5 January 2006 15:33 (twenty years ago)

There's too many good songs on Some Girls and Emotional Rescue, not to mention Dirty Work and A Bigger Bang (which made my P&J top 10).

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 5 January 2006 15:39 (twenty years ago)

fingerprint file seconded.
also : coming down again which is one of my fav stones track ever.

AleXTC (AleXTC), Thursday, 5 January 2006 17:14 (twenty years ago)

No vote for "Before They Make Me Run"?

only because i didn't see this thread until now. consider it voted for.

miss michael learned (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 5 January 2006 17:17 (twenty years ago)

"Mixed Emotions"

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 5 January 2006 17:55 (twenty years ago)

Goat's Heap Soup has the gems. I actually listen to it more than Sticky Fingers.

QuantumNoise (Justin Farrar), Thursday, 5 January 2006 18:11 (twenty years ago)

i always want to like goat's head soup more than i do. i always get bored a few songs in.

miss michael learned (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 5 January 2006 18:20 (twenty years ago)

POO: Rolling Stones post-1978

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Thursday, 5 January 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

also Some Girls is post-Sticky Fingers and it's pretty much all good, and is the canonical "last great Stones album"

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Thursday, 5 January 2006 18:43 (twenty years ago)

I'll vouch for Tatoo You as being quite great. However, it is true that sveral tracks from it date back much farther than 1981 ("Waiting on a Friend" was mostly recorded in 1973!) The LP is essentially a slapped together collection of various recordings from different eras, as I understand it (anyone please correct me if I'm wrong here). Still great, though.

James, Thursday, 5 January 2006 18:49 (twenty years ago)

You are correct, James.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 5 January 2006 18:50 (twenty years ago)

"Hot Stuff" off Black and Blue.
"Can You Hear the Music" and "Comin' Down Again" off Goats Head Soup.

brettino's bounce, Thursday, 5 January 2006 22:41 (twenty years ago)

"Summer Romance" (Emotional Rescue) never really stood out to me until I heard the New Bomb Turks cover it.

Also, I actually kinda like "Mixed Emotions" from Steel Wheels.

Ron Mexico (Ron Mexico), Friday, 6 January 2006 00:21 (twenty years ago)

"Summer Romance" is fucking fantastic: I cannot get enough of it. Probably my favorite Emotional Rescue track.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Friday, 6 January 2006 00:32 (twenty years ago)

"The Worst"! Yay Keef!

rogermexico (rogermexico), Friday, 6 January 2006 04:14 (twenty years ago)

Yup, Before they make me run seconded.
