Greendale: Second Edition

Not like Uncle Neil to gouge his fans, but now there's a second edition of the CD that features a different DVD - this one is a 'making of' style documnetary called Inside Greendale. Of course I have to buy it now - but what the hell am I gonna do with a second copy of the album?

Anyway they're currently showing it on vh1classic and it's very, very cool. (eastern USA check it out! like, now!) lotsa weird studio footage, crudely shot, with some artsy stuff from the film too. It's cool because you can actually see / hear Neil punch in vocal tracks, etc. Anyone even remotely studio-savvy should definitely check out how the master works!

Any rational person would just pop a blank VHS tape in and tape it off the TV, but not me...I'm off to BestBuy tomorrow to pick up Second Edition

It's criminals like you that are keeping the record industry alive with your non-downloading.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 28 March 2004 01:33 (twenty-two years ago)

You could unload your first copy to some ilxer, huh? HUH?

But really, is it like one of those seven-dollar Best Buy CDs? Cos I may have to compromise my ethics...

Greendale threads are my favorite threads. I hope I never actually hear the thing. It would spoil the fun.

A testament to the artist, obviously.

I'll say. And then some. I'm kinda scared of it myself. The album that is. I'm afraid I might cringe a little.

play Tonight's the Night. Then On the Beach. Then Greendale.

and ask yourself, 'Which one's the piece of SHIT?'

People make so many excuses for this guy, it's a joke. The songwriting on Greendale is terrible, so is the playing, so is the concept.

C'mon and stone me, Neilheads!

D. Geffen, Sunday, 28 March 2004 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

nah. it's really not even worth it. Besides, i'm the resident shit-disturber around here (well, me and Calum) so buzz off, millionaire.

Greendale is in no way a piece of shit. It's great the way Ragged Glory is great.

Scott, you may cringe once or twice, sure. There are a few lyrics that are hard to swallow. But it's still a killer album man check it out

Greendale rocks (Easily my favorite NY album since Ragged Glory), but I so ain't buying it twice.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 28 March 2004 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

How many Neil young fans does it take to play Greendale?

One to open the CD, one to press play, and 175,000 to swallow the crap flying out of Neil Young's ass.

What's the difference between a Neil Young fan and a Charles Manson fan?

The Manson fan smells better, has actually been laid and, unlike the Neil Young fan, can color-coordinate his outfit to match his hospital bracelet.

Why hasn't Greendale: Third Edition come out yet?

Neil's busy designing the board game, shoe horn and beer coozie.

What's the scariest place in Greendale?

The one with unblocked visual access to the Mountainettes dressing room.

What's the difference between Neil Young's wife and Paul McCartney's dead wife?

Linda could carry a tune!

PS. Ragged Glory: overrated. Nearly all of the best songs are over ten years old. Crappy sounding album, too.

Dude if yr gonna be controversial, at least be funny

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 29 March 2004 02:14 (twenty-two years ago)

It's funny if you imagine David Geffen dictating this to his secretary.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 29 March 2004 02:28 (twenty-two years ago)

'Dude'? Face it, Mr. Adultery (now THERE'S comedy, eh?)
These days Neil Young fans and Jerry Garcia fans are interchangeable.
Sacred cow goes moooooo

D. Geffen, Monday, 29 March 2004 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

please tell me you're wearing sunglasses

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 29 March 2004 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

david geffen always wears sunglasses on the job.
so easy to wind up you greendale fans. I mean, you actually LISTEN to the thing repeatedly? Amazing.

D. Geffen, Monday, 29 March 2004 02:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm totally stealing your "sacred cow goes moooo" line, Mr. Geffen.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 29 March 2004 02:57 (twenty-two years ago)

set it to music, you've got Greendale Seven: Even More Mediocre Edition

but that's not fair. Young's lyric aren't even THAT clever anymore.

oh well, me and the towel boy are off to palm springs, la-la-la for you, to quoth a great philosopher

D. Geffen, Monday, 29 March 2004 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

The album's lyrics mean shit out of the context of the movie/story. it's a good thing that the music is so so good.
